(Prior art) Radiation (X-ray, α-ray, β-ray, γ-ray,
(E.g., ultraviolet rays, electron beams, etc.), a part of the radiation energy is accumulated in the phosphor, and when the phosphor is irradiated with excitation light such as visible light, the phosphor is stimulated according to the accumulated energy. It is known that the phosphor emits light, and a phosphor exhibiting such a property is called a storage phosphor.

Using this stimulable phosphor, radiation image information of a subject such as a human body is temporarily recorded on a stimulable phosphor sheet, and the stimulable phosphor sheet is scanned with excitation light such as a laser beam to emit stimulating light. Light is generated and the resulting photostimulated light is read photoelectrically to obtain an image signal. Based on the image signal, a radiation image of the subject is displayed on a recording material such as a photographic photosensitive material or a display device such as a CRT. The applicant has already proposed a radiation image information recording / reproducing method for reproducing as a radiographic image. (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 55
This method has a practical advantage that an image can be recorded over an extremely wide radiation exposure area as compared with a conventional radiographic system using silver halide photography. . That is, in the case of the stimulable phosphor, it has been recognized that the amount of emitted light that is stimulated by excitation after accumulation is proportional to the radiation exposure amount over an extremely wide range. Even if fluctuates considerably, the amount of the stimulating light emitted from the stimulable phosphor sheet is read by the photoelectric conversion means with the reading gain set to an appropriate value and converted into an electric signal. By outputting a visible image on a recording material such as a photographic light-sensitive material or a display device such as a CRT using, a radiation image which is not affected by a change in radiation exposure amount can be obtained.

In the above method, the stimulable phosphor sheet first records (photographs) image information using a radiographing device equipped with a radiation source. If the patient, who is the subject, cannot walk, the radiographing device is placed in the patient's room. It is necessary to carry and perform imaging. For this reason, the above-mentioned imaging apparatus is a small and portable apparatus in which a radiation source is attached via a support arm to a movable apparatus main body provided with rollers and the like on the bottom surface. It has already been proposed.

If there are many types of stimulable phosphor sheets used for shooting, prepare cassettes of the same number as the size and load a plurality of sheet storage magazines and sheet supply magazines into the housing for storage. Phosphor sheet may be used after being classified in size, or in a radiation image reading apparatus, only a part of the large-sized stimulable phosphor sheet can be read, so that the largest stimulable phosphor sheet is used. Photographs of all sizes are performed using only the sheet as shown in FIG. 2, and when a small size is photographed, information indicating the photographing is sent to the reading device, and the reading device stores the large size. Only the image forming portion of the luminescent phosphor sheet may be read.
