BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a connector having a double locking mechanism for terminals, and more particularly to locking a terminal with a flexible locking arm (lance) formed in a terminal receiving chamber of a connector housing. At the same time, a terminal locking member (retainer), which is a separate component from the connector housing, is attached to double-lock the terminal.

2. Description of the Related Art Terminal fittings crimped to the tip of an electric wire
In order to lock and fix the terminal inside the terminal housing chamber juxtaposed to the connector housing, the locking force is insufficient with only the lance formed integrally with the connector housing, and the terminal is half-inserted. In recent years, there has been provided a connector having a double locking mechanism that more reliably prevents the terminal from coming off by combining a retainer, which is a component separate from the connector housing, because the connector housing may be left unattended. In a connector having a double locking mechanism of this type, a through hole 3 for inserting a retainer 2 from above is provided at the center of a connector housing 1 as shown in FIG. . In the connector, a terminal (not shown) obtained by crimping an electric wire is inserted into a terminal accommodating chamber 4 juxtaposed with the connector housing 1 and locked by a lance (not shown) formed in the terminal accommodating chamber 4. The terminal is locked by a locking protrusion 5 provided on the retainer 2 inserted into the through hole 3 from above, and the terminal is reliably prevented from coming off by double locking.

In the connector housing 1 described above, the front and rear sides of the terminal accommodating chamber 4 are opened, and the through-holes 3 which are opened in the vertical direction are provided. The mold requires a pair of front and rear molds and a slide mold that opens and closes in a direction perpendicular to the front and rear molds. When the above-mentioned slide mold is used, the structure of the mold becomes complicated and the cost increases,
In addition, there are various problems such as a long molding cycle.

In the above embodiment, since the connector housing is formed with two upper and lower terminal receiving chambers, the retainer is provided with a pair of upper and lower flat plate portions to be inserted into the upper and lower terminal receiving chambers. Although it has a U-shape, when the terminal accommodating chamber is one stage, only one flat plate portion is required, and in that case, a flange portion for locking the outer wall of the connector housing is provided at one end of the flat plate portion. good. Further, if the terminal accommodating chambers are provided in three stages or four stages, the flat plate portion of the retainer is three stages,
What is necessary is just to provide four steps and to connect one end part with a connection part.

As is apparent from the above description, in the connector according to the present invention, the terminal housing is formed so as to penetrate the connector housing in the front-rear direction, and the left and right sides are perpendicular to the upper part of the terminal housing. , A retainer insertion space is continuously formed, and the retainer insertion space is formed by a groove cut out from the front end side to the vicinity of the rear end side of the connector housing and a groove cut out from the rear end side to the vicinity of the front end part. Therefore, it can be formed only by the front and rear dies. Therefore, the slide mold conventionally required for forming the retainer insertion space is not required, and the molding mold can be simplified, and the cost and the molding cycle can be reduced.

1. A retainer which penetrates a connector housing in a front-rear direction and has a plurality of terminal receiving chambers formed in parallel in a left-right direction, and a retainer can be inserted from one of right and left outer walls orthogonal to the terminal receiving chambers. The insertion space is formed continuously in the left-right direction at the same horizontal position, and the retainer insertion space is cut out from the front end to the vicinity of the rear end of the connector housing, and the groove is cut out from the rear end to the vicinity of the front end. And a terminal locking portion formed in the horizontal plate portion of the retainer at an interval with a terminal locking portion to lock a terminal to be inserted into each terminal accommodating chamber.

2. A connector housing comprising: a plurality of intermediate posts between left and right outer walls of the connector housing; a partition wall provided between the left and right outer walls and the intermediate posts to form terminal housings in parallel in the left and right direction; Cut out a groove from the front end side of the partition wall and cut out a groove from the rear end side of the intermediate support, further cut out and open a retainer insertion groove from the front end on the left outer wall, and cut out a recess from the front end on the inner surface of the right outer wall. The grooves and recesses of the left and right outer walls and the grooves of the partition wall and the intermediate support are formed in series in the left and right direction, and the retainer is inserted from the left side into the upper part of the terminal accommodating chambers juxtaposed in the left and right direction. The above-mentioned retainer insertion space is formed, and a wall of each terminal accommodating chamber is cut and raised to provide a lance for locking the terminal, and the lance and the engaging portion provided on the retainer are used to form the terminal accommodating chamber. Insert into The connector according to claim 1, wherein the terminal is configured to be double-locked.
