Structure of Conventional Example and its Problems A two-rotation one-process method in which a series of electrostatic copying steps are completed during two rotations of a rotary type photosensitive member has been proposed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 47-11537. An example of repeatedly using the main charging function and the transfer charging function with one corona charger in this system is described in JP-B-55-37755.
It is also known that such a system has advantages such as easy miniaturization of the copying apparatus.

As described in U.S. Pat. No. 2911330, the magnetic brush is arranged as described above in the arrangement of the charging device, the optical system, the discharging charger, and the developing device in the two-rotation one-process type copying machine. The mechanism is based on the fact that when the photoconductor holds an electrostatic latent image, the developing action is performed, when the photoconductor is destaticized, the cleaning action is performed, and both the developing action and the cleaning action are performed. Cleaning means removing the toner remaining on the photoconductor without being 100% transferred to the transfer medium when the toner image on the photoconductor is transferred to the transfer medium, and this cleaning is performed sufficiently. Otherwise, when the next copying is performed, the toner adheres to the background portion of the image, so-called "fog" occurs, and the image quality is impaired. The cleaning by the magnetic brush mechanism is performed by rubbing the magnetic brush formed by the magnetic force on the surface of the photoconductor that has been neutralized. However, the developer in the developing device deteriorates as the series of copying steps are repeated many times. As a result, the cleaning with the magnetic brush is not sufficiently performed, and the next electrostatic copying process is performed with the toner adhered to the surface of the photoconductor. When the number of times of copying is repeated, in the conventional two-rotation one-process type electrophotographic copying apparatus, the "fogging" at the time of cleaning is not limited to the two-rotation one-process type, but the electrophotography of other general structure is used. There is a problem that the image quality is significantly impaired by overlapping with "fogging" at the time of development, which is a problem common to copying machines. When the image quality is extremely impaired, the troublesome work of removing the developer in the developing device and replacing it with a new developer is required, which is disadvantageous to the serviceability.

Around the photoconductor 1, starting from the charger 2 facing the right side of the photoconductor 1 in the drawing, the optical system 3, which starts in the rotation direction of the photoconductor,
A developing device 5 and a charge removing / cleaning device 11 are arranged. The charger 2 is a well-known charger using corona discharge,
The applied voltage can be switched to a voltage suitable for main charging and transfer charging. Further, the charger 2 constitutes a part of the transfer device together with a device (not shown) for supplying the transferred material, and is provided with a well-known thermal roll fixing device 6. The optical system 3 is the same as the conventional one. The developing device 5 has a magnetic brush mechanism similar to that of the conventional device, and is constantly applied with a bias potential for removing toner from the background of the image. A static eliminator / cleaning device 11 is composed of a static eliminator charger 9 and a cleaning blade 10 as described in Japanese Patent Publication No. 54-34340. The static eliminator charger 9 is an alternating current for each rotation of the photoconductor. Power is supplied through the switch 8 for discharging, and the cleaning blade 10 is pressed against the photoconductor 1 in synchronism with the discharge of the discharging charger 9, and scrapes off the toner on the surface of the photoconductor 1 to expose it. Clean body 1.
The toner scraped off by the cleaning blade 10 is conveyed into the developing device.

Then, in the second rotation, after the transfer is first performed, the light beam passes through the optical system 3 where no light beam is projected, and further, after passing through the developing device 5, the switch 8 is closed and the charge removing / cleaning device 11 operates, When static elimination and cleaning are performed and a large number of copies are continuously made, the above operation is repeated, and thus the photosensitive member 1 completes one electrostatic copying step by two rotations.

In the two-revolution, one-process type electrophotographic copying apparatus configured as described above, even if toner adheres to the surface of the photoconductor when the photoconductor passes through the developing device at the second rotation, static elimination and cleaning are performed thereafter. In addition, since the cleaning is performed by pressing the cleaning blade against the photoconductor, toner does not adhere to the surface of the photoconductor after static elimination and cleaning regardless of the deterioration of the developer. Therefore, when a series of electrostatic copying steps are completed and the next electrostatic copying step is started, the surface of the photoconductor is always cleaned for cleaning. Images with less "fog" can be obtained compared to the electrophotographic copying machine of the type. More specifically, in the blade method, since the toner on the photoconductor is mechanically removed, a stable cleaning performance can be obtained without the influence of the deterioration of the developer (change in the charge amount of the developer). Furthermore, no rotation drive system or bias power supply is required. In the configuration of the above-described embodiment, the charge removing / cleaning device is configured such that the charge removing charger and the cleaning blade are arranged so that the charge removing and cleaning operations are performed in this order. Even if the same effect is obtained. Further, as the power source of the charger for static elimination, in addition to alternating current, direct current having a polarity opposite to that of the main charging may be used. As a method of static elimination, a method of performing static static elimination using a static elimination lamp instead of the static elimination charger may be used. In addition, the photosensitive member is not limited to the drum shape, but a sheet-shaped photosensitive member is processed into an endless belt shape and used, and the same functions as those described in the above embodiment are provided along the peripheral surface of the belt-shaped photosensitive member. It does not matter if the operating device is arranged.

EFFECTS OF THE INVENTION As described above, the electrophotographic copying apparatus of the present invention has the following features:
A charging device having both main charging and transfer charging functions, an optical system for exposing, a developing device and a charge / blade cleaning device are provided to the photoconductor in the order described above as the photoconductor rotates. The main charging, exposure, and developing functions during the first rotation of the photoconductor, and the transfer charging, static elimination, and cleaning functions during the second rotation. This is a two-revolution, one-process type electrophotographic copying machine configured so as to have a large number of copies. The excellent effect of less "fog" on the skin is obtained. Therefore, the new developer deteriorates as the number of times of copying increases, "fog" occurs in the image, the image is significantly damaged, and the troublesome work of replacing the developer is required.
As a result, the effect that the usage period is extended is obtained, the serviceability is excellent, and the copying cost is reduced.
