Description
An embodiment of the present invention relates to a brake caliper.
Conventionally, a disc brake has, for example, a brake pad, a piston that presses the brake pad against a disc rotor, and a brake caliper that holds the piston. For example, a floating-type brake caliper has a caliper body that holds the piston so that it can reciprocate, and a mount that movably attaches the caliper body to the vehicle body.
A pin may be provided on the caliper body to guide the relative movement between the caliper body and the mount. The pin is inserted into a hole provided in the mount and slides inside the hole when the caliper body and the mount move relative to each other. The pin is covered and protected liquid-tightly by a boot (Patent Document 1).
However, in conventional configurations, a boot made of rubber, for example, comes into contact with the outer circumferential surface of the pin. As a result, over time the boot may stick to the outer circumferential surface or there may be a lack of lubrication between the boot and the outer circumferential surface, which may increase the sliding resistance between the pin and the boot.
Therefore, the present invention has been made in consideration of the above, and provides a brake caliper that can suppress an increase in the sliding resistance of the pin.
A brake caliper according to an embodiment of the present invention, as an example, includes a caliper body that holds a piston movably in a first direction and a second direction opposite to the first direction, and a mount that holds the caliper body movably in the first direction and the second direction, the first member being one of the first member and the mount, the first member having a surface and a hole recessed from the surface in the first direction, and a second member that is the other of the caliper body and the mount, the second member being provided in the second member, partially housed in the hole, surrounded by the inner circumferential surface of the hole within the hole, and the second member being a hole recessed from the surface in the first direction. The caliper body includes a pin having an outer peripheral surface facing the mount, a fitting portion that is fitted into the hole and attached to the first member and surrounds the outer peripheral surface inside the hole, and a stretching portion that is connected to the fitting portion and covers the outer peripheral surface outside the hole and expands and contracts in response to the movement of the caliper body relative to the mount, and a boot spaced from the outer peripheral surface, an outer tube disposed inside the hole, and a linear bush having a plurality of balls disposed between the outer tube and the outer peripheral surface and supporting the outer peripheral surface so that the pin can move in the first direction and the second direction. Thus, as an example, the brake caliper can guide the pin by the linear bush while suppressing contact between the boot, which is generally made of a material such as synthetic rubber, and the outer peripheral surface of the pin. Thus, the brake caliper can suppress an increase in sliding resistance between the pin and the boot caused by the boot sticking to the outer peripheral surface over time or a lack of lubrication between the boot and the outer peripheral surface.

(First embodiment)
The first embodiment will be described below with reference to FIGS. 1 to 5. In this specification, components according to the embodiment and their descriptions may be described in a number of ways. The components and their descriptions are merely examples and are not limited by the expressions in this specification. The components may be identified by names different from those in this specification. The components may also be described by expressions different from those in this specification.

The
For the sake of convenience, in this specification, the direction along the rotation axis Axr is defined as the axial direction. The axial direction includes a first direction D1 along the rotation axis Axr and a second direction D2 opposite to the first direction D1. Note that the first direction D1 and the second direction D2 are not limited to directions along the rotation axis Axr.

As shown in FIG. 3, the
The

As shown in FIG. 3, the

The

When the
As shown in FIG. 1, the

Each of the two
The
For the sake of convenience, the radial direction and the circumferential direction are defined in this specification. The radial direction is the direction perpendicular to the central axis Axc of the

Each of the two
The
The first end surface 51a abuts against the side surface 44a of the mounting
A mounting groove 56 is provided on the first outer peripheral surface 51b. The mounting groove 56 is recessed radially inward from the first outer peripheral surface 51b. The mounting groove 56 is provided around the entire circumference of the first outer peripheral surface 51b in the circumferential direction.

The

The
The

The
The
The
The
Inside the
A mounting
Each of the two

As shown in FIG. 4, the second
The second
The
The
The
The
As described above, when the
When the

When the
As shown in FIG. 5, the
The

Each of the two
The sliding
The
The

The
The

The
The
The
The

The
The
The apex of the
The radially inner apex of the
When the
By being supported by the
The
In the
The
The
The
In the first embodiment, the
Second Embodiment
The second embodiment will be described below with reference to Figures 6 and 7. In the following description of the embodiment, components having the same functions as components already described are given the same reference numerals as the components already described, and further description may be omitted. In addition, components given the same reference numerals do not necessarily have all the same functions and properties, and may have different functions and properties according to each embodiment.
Figure 6 is a cross-sectional view showing a portion of the
As shown in FIG. 7, the fixed
The inner
The
In the second embodiment, the
In the
The brake caliper according to at least one embodiment described above, for example, comprises a caliper body that holds a piston movably in a first direction and a second direction opposite to the first direction, and a mount that holds the caliper body movably in the first direction and the second direction, the first member being one of the first member and the mount, the first member having a surface and a hole recessed from the surface in the first direction, and a second member that is the other of the caliper body and the mount, the second member being provided in the second member, partially housed in the hole, and surrounded by the inner circumferential surface of the hole within the hole, and a linear bushing having a pin having an outer peripheral surface facing the inner peripheral surface of the pin, a fitting portion that is fitted into the hole and attached to the first member and surrounds the outer peripheral surface inside the hole, and an expandable portion that is connected to the fitting portion and covers the outer peripheral surface outside the hole and expands and contracts according to the movement of the caliper body relative to the mount, the boot being spaced from the outer peripheral surface, an outer tube disposed inside the hole, and a plurality of balls that are disposed between the outer tube and the outer peripheral surface and support the outer peripheral surface so that the pin can move in the first direction and the second direction. Thus, as an example, the brake caliper can guide the pin by the linear bushing while suppressing contact between the boot, which is generally made of a material such as synthetic rubber, and the outer peripheral surface of the pin. Thus, the brake caliper can suppress an increase in sliding resistance between the pin and the boot, which is caused by the boot sticking to the outer peripheral surface over time, or a lack of lubrication between the boot and the outer peripheral surface, and an increase in drag torque caused by the sliding resistance. Furthermore, the brake caliper supports the outer surface of the pin with multiple balls in the linear bushing, reducing the sliding resistance of the pin.
As an example, the brake caliper further includes a tube that is positioned between at least a portion of the fitting portion and the outer circumferential surface, is attached to the fitting portion, surrounds the outer circumferential surface, and has a higher rigidity than the boot, and at least a portion of the fitting portion is compressed between the first member and the tube. Thus, as an example, the tube can increase the surface pressure between the fitting portion of the boot and the first member. Therefore, the brake caliper can more reliably seal between the fitting portion and the first member, and can suppress the intrusion of dust and moisture into the inside of the hole.
In the above brake caliper, as an example, the outer cylinder is located inside the cylinder and is attached to the cylinder. Therefore, as an example, the cylinder has high rigidity, which makes it easy to attach the linear bushing. Also, the cylinder can be attached to the fitting portion by, for example, vulcanization adhesion. However, if the outer cylinder of the linear bushing were attached to the fitting portion as a cylinder by vulcanization adhesion, there is a risk that it would be deformed by the heat and pressure of the vulcanization adhesion. By attaching the linear bushing to the fitting portion via the cylinder, it can be easily fixed to the fitting portion.
In the above brake caliper, as one example, the outer cylinder is disposed between the fitting portion and the outer peripheral surface and is supported by the fitting portion. Thus, as one example, the linear bushing can move slightly in a direction perpendicular to the central axis of the pin by elastically deforming the fitting portion. Therefore, the brake caliper can reduce the load acting on the pin and the linear bushing even if the pin moves slightly in a direction perpendicular to the first direction and the second direction relative to the first member.
In the above brake caliper, as an example, the outer cylinder is attached to the first member inside the hole. Therefore, as an example, the brake caliper can suppress the pin from moving relative to the first member in a direction perpendicular to the first direction and the second direction.
In the above explanation, suppression is defined as, for example, preventing the occurrence of an event, action, or effect, or reducing the severity of an event, action, or effect.
