Abstract
Description
TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to a method for producing a positive electrode active material. More particularly, it relates to positive electrode active materials useful for lithium ion secondary batteries and the like.
Lithium-cobalt composite oxide is one of the materials that have been attracting attention in recent years as a positive electrode active material for high-power, high-energy-density batteries, for example, lithium-ion secondary batteries used in laptop computers, mobile phones, and the like. is one. However, in conventional lithium-ion secondary batteries, only about 50% of the theoretical capacity of lithium-cobalt composite oxide has been used as the battery capacity. One of the reasons for this is that lithium cobalt oxide (Li 1-x CoO 2 ) loses its crystal structure stability when it is repeatedly charged and discharged until x≧0.5, resulting in poor cycle characteristics. ing.

The present inventors have found that the seed can be used as a positive electrode active material by coating or mixing LiCoO 2 with LiCoO 2 under specific conditions using the seed as a coating material or raw material for an additive. Titanium and zirconium oxides and hydroxides are less expensive than these metal alkoxides, and the use of oxides and hydroxides eliminates the need for a hydrolysis step that is required when metal alkoxides are used. The inventors have found that it is possible to produce positive electrode active materials more efficiently at a lower production cost than conventional production methods, conceived that the above problems can be successfully solved, and arrived at the present invention. is.

Particle diameter (nm) defined by the directional diameter (the interval between two parallel lines in a definite direction sandwiching the particle) in a 100,000-fold field of view. Then, the unidirectional diameters of 150 primary particles in the TEM photograph were measured.
