Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a film forming apparatus, a film forming method, and an electronic device manufacturing method.
In the manufacture of organic EL displays and the like, a thin film is formed on a substrate by depositing a vapor deposition material emitted from an evaporation source onto the substrate.
By the way, in a film forming apparatus, film forming by a film forming method in which manufacturing defects are less likely to occur is desired. For example, if sufficient time is not allocated to align the substrate and mask, defects due to poor alignment may be more likely to occur. In addition, for example, if the shutter is opened while the substrate and mask are not aligned, the film forming material floating in the chamber may adhere to the substrate, resulting in poor film thickness uniformity or film formation in places where film formation is not planned.
The present invention provides a technique of forming a film by a film forming method that is less likely to cause manufacturing defects.

The
The
The
The
The
The mask table 122A supports the
The
After the alignment by the

State ST2 is a state in which the
State ST3 is a state in which film formation is performed in the forward direction on the
Here, the timing at which the moving
The relative positional relationship between the
During the transition from state ST2 to state ST3, the film formation on the
In this embodiment, the moving
It is also conceivable that the alignment is performed while the
Further, in this embodiment, since the moving
Since the film formation on the
State ST4 is a state in which the
State ST5 is a state in which the
As described above, in the present embodiment, the alignment of the
State ST6 is a state in which the
As described above, in the present embodiment, not only the
Looking at the states ST4 to ST6 from another side, while the
A specific example of the timing at which the moving
After state ST6, the process returns to state ST1. Then, film formation on the substrates is sequentially performed such as film formation in the return direction for the
As described above, according to the present embodiment, the moving
In this embodiment, the

<Method for manufacturing electronic device>
Next, an example of a method for manufacturing an electronic device will be described. The configuration and manufacturing method of an organic EL display device will be exemplified below as an example of an electronic device. In this example, a plurality of film forming systems SY illustrated in FIG. 1 are provided on the manufacturing line.
First, the organic EL display device to be manufactured will be described. FIG. 6A is an overall view of the organic
As shown in FIG. 6A, in a
The term "pixel" as used herein refers to a minimum unit capable of displaying a desired color in the
FIG. 6B is a schematic partial cross-sectional view taken along the line AB of FIG. 6A. The

In addition, an insulating

Each of the
Although an example of the
Next, an example of a method for manufacturing an organic EL display device will be specifically described. Here, it is assumed that the
First, a
A resin layer such as acrylic or polyimide is coated by bar coating or spin coating on the
The
Next, the
Similarly to the deposition of the
