Abstract
Description
(a)ポリマーコーティングを有するナノ粒子を形成するためのナノ粒子とポリマーとを混合すること;
(b)ポリマーコーティングを有するナノ粒子を基材に適用し、超疎水性フィルムを形成すること。
Sylgard-184(シリコーンエラストマー、PDMS)は、エルスワース・アドヒーシブ社から購入した。多目的接着剤は3Mから購入した。二酸化チタン(Aeroxide P25、24±7nm)、酸化セリウム(27±14nm)、トリエチルアミン(>99%)および1H、1H、2H、2Hパーフルオロオクチルトリエトキシシラン(98%)をシグマ・アルドリッチから購入した。ヘキサン(HPLCグレード)およびエタノール(分析試薬グレード)は、フィッシャ-・サイエンティフィック社から購入した。
比較例1 超疎水性TiO2/FASフィルムを以下のように調製した。TiO2のナノ粒子(0.5g)を、エタノール(12.5ml)中の1H、1H、2H、2H-パーフルオロオクチルトリエトキシシラン(FAS)(0.196mmol、0.076ml)の溶液に添加し、1時間機械的に撹拌した。ヘキサン(2mL)および多目的接着剤(4mL)を一緒に混合した。この溶液の1つの層をスライドガラス上にピペットで移し、比較例1のフィルムのスライドガラス上に完全な被覆率を得た。
比較例2 超疎水性CeO2/FASフィルムは、TiO2の代わりにCeO2を使用して上記のように調製したが、単層の形成を促すために、トリエチルアミン(7.94mmol、1.1ml)の触媒量を、FASおよびCeO2のエタノール溶液に追加する追加ステップを有する。
比較例3 超疎水性1:10TiO2:CeO2/FASフィルムは、CeO2の代わりに、1:10の比率のTiO2:CeO2を使用して調製した。
実施例1 超疎水性TiO2/PDMSフィルムを以下のように調製した。TiO2ナノ粒子(2.91mmol、TiO20.23g)をエタノール(10ml)に懸濁した。塩基(Sylgard-184)と、シリコーンエラストマー(PDMS)(0.165g)の硬化剤(HSiR3およびPt触媒を含む)とを10:1の質量比でヘキサン(10ml)に溶解し、完全に溶解するように混合した。得られたPDMS/ヘキサン溶液をナノ粒子ゾルに添加し、3時間機械的に撹拌した。
実施例2 TiO2の代わりにCeO2(0.5g)を用いて、上記のように超疎水性CeO2/PDMSフィルムを作製した。
実施例3 超疎水性1:10TiO2:CeO2/PDMSフィルムを、TiO2の代わりに1:10比率のTiO2:CeO2を用いて上記のように調製した。
比較例1~3および実施例1~3のフィルムを、圧縮ポンプおよびアーティストスプレーガンを用いて2バールの圧力でスプレーコーティングすることによって形成した。全てのスプレーは、基材の表面から約4cm離れて実施した。
試料を、コーティングされたスライドの6.8cm上に位置する365nm波長のUVランプを用いてUV照射に曝露した。
加速電圧20kVで作動する走査型電子顕微鏡(SEM)(JEOL社 JSM-7001F)を用いて、コーティングの表面形態を解析した。この装置は、内蔵のINCA X-act EDXディテクタを有していた。電気伝導率を改善するために、試料をクロムの薄層中に真空スパッタコーティングした。透過型電子顕微鏡(JEOL社 2100F)を、CEOS社の「CESCOR」収差補正システムを用いて、透過(TEM)モードと走査透過(S/TEM)モードの両方で200kVの加速電圧で使用した。450~4000cm-1の範囲にわたって、ブルカー・オプティクス社のVertex70を用いてFTIR測定を行った。200~600nmの範囲のCary5000 UV-Vis-NIRスペクトロメータを用いて、UV-Vis拡散反射スペクトルを得た。Young-Laplace操作モードおよびWCAを記録するための手動設定を使用して、DSA100 エキスパートドロップシェイプアナライザを使用して、静的WCA測定を行った;6μlの水滴を使用し、WCAを5つの領域にわたって平均した。水滴を表面に滴下し、表面を傾斜させ、液滴が転がり始める角度を記録することにより、傾斜角度を手動で記録した;平均は5つの領域にわたって取られた。各コーティングについて4動画の平均を用いる高速度カメラを用いて、水跳ね動画を記録した。6μlの水滴を、基材表面の20mm上に配置された30ゲージ分配チップから分配した。
実施例1~3のPDMSフィルムについては、上記のように、熱硬化性PDMSポリマーと混合する前に、ナノ粒子を一緒にブレンドし、エタノール中に懸濁した。使用前に混合を必要とする懸濁液が形成された。これにより、得られるコーティングにおける高度に粗い階層的な表面形態を促進する、ある範囲の粒子凝集体が形成された。これらの粒子凝集体は、エタノールとヘキサンとの混合溶媒系中に充分に分散し、使用前の前処理を必要としない。

水とPDMS複合フィルム(実施例1~3)との相互作用を、高速度カメラ(1000フレーム/秒)を用いて撮像した。6μlの水滴を、基材表面の20mm上方に配置された27ゲージの分配チップから分配した。これは、水滴が最大運動量を運ぶ高さとして事前に決定されたためである。水跳ねの平均回数は、典型的には任意の所与のコーティングで観察されたCAに比例することが見出され、TiO2/PDMS(実施例1)は平均11.5の水跳ねを示し、CeO2/PDMS(実施例2)は12の水跳ねを示し、14は1:10のTiO2:CeO2/PDMS(実施例3)について見ることができた。これは、実施例3で使用された2つの無機酸化物の組み合わせから粒径の分布がより広くなり、表面の粗さが増して跳ね返り回数の増加をもたらしたためと説明することができる。
実施例のフィルムは、ナノ粒子および疎水性ポリマーを利用して、超疎水性フィルムを提供するために必要とされる撥水特性を有する高い表面粗さを提供する。これは、最大化された表面粗さおよび完全な基材被覆率の両方を提供することを目的とする、最適化されたポリマー:ナノ粒子比を含む。ポリマーでカプセル化されたナノ粒子の堅固性(robustness)は、下にある基材への物理的結合を可能にする表面前処理を使用することによって、さらに高めることができる。
材料
全ての化学物質は、シグマ・アルドリッチから購入した:ヘキサメチルジシラザン(≧99.0%)、トルエン(≧99.98%)、キシレン(≧99.83%)、メチレンブルー(≧82.0%)、高密度ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、SiO2ナノ粒子(10~20nm)およびTiO2ナノ粒子(21nm)。
ナノ粒子(5g)を、トルエン(100ml)を含有する500ml丸底フラスコ中に添加した。別のフラスコ中で、0.5mlのHMDSをトルエン(100ml)に添加した。良好な分散を確保するために両方の混合物を30分間撹拌した。反応混合物を、絶えず撹拌しながら、160℃で24時間還流させるために混合した。反応が完了した後、トルエンを用いて粒子を単離し、遠心分離(2000rpmで10分間)し、さらにエタノールで洗浄した。沈殿物を100℃で24時間乾燥させた。
ポリエチレン(0.1g)を、キシレン(70ml)を含有するトール100mlビーカー中に秤量した。溶液を、20分間、一定に撹拌しながら110℃に加熱した。官能化SiO2(所望のポリマーコーティング厚さに従って変化する量、例えば、1.5nmコーティングついては、0.3472g SiO2;20nmコーティングついては、0.0052g SiO2)を添加し、30分間撹拌し続けて、1~20nmの範囲のポリマーコーティングを得た。次に、この懸濁液中への基材のディップコーティングを行った。

ポリプロピレン(0.1g)を、キシレン(70ml)を含有するトール100mlビーカー中に秤量した。溶液を、20分間、一定に撹拌しながら130℃に加熱した。官能化シリカ(所望のポリマーコーティング厚さに従って変化する量、例えば、1.5nmコーティングついては、0.3484g SiO2;2nmコーティングついては、0.2457g SiO2;3nmコーティングついては、0.1453g SiO2)。次に、この懸濁液中への基材のディップコーティングを行った。
ポリエチレン(0.1g)を、キシレン(60ml)を含有するトール100mlビーカー中に秤量した。溶液を、20分間、一定に撹拌しながら110℃に加熱した。ポリエチレンが完全に溶解したら、シリンジを用いて5mlのブタノールをゆっくりと添加した。予備混合したSiO2およびTiO2ナノ粒子をフラスコに添加し、110℃で10分間撹拌してブタノールを除去した。基材のディップコーティングを実施する前に、さらに10mlのキシレンを添加した。
熱可塑性ポリマーコーティングを含む実施例フィルム4~7を、本発明をさらに例示するために上記のように調製した。これらの実施例の調製では、基材の均一な被覆に不可欠な熱可塑性ポリマーの完全な溶解を確実にするために特定の温度範囲を必要とするため、異なる堆積技術を使用して、基材上にフィルムを堆積させた。加熱により硬化する熱硬化性ポリマーとは異なり、熱可塑性ポリマーは冷却により硬化し、その後、温度が所定の範囲を下回ると溶液から沈殿する。粒子/熱可塑性ナノ懸濁液のディップコーティングプロセスを最適化するために、キシレン中のSiO2/PE(実施例4)溶液を用いて、浸漬速度および引抜速度、浸漬時間および乾燥時間、反復回数、およびコロイド懸濁液の濃度を調べた。最適化されたディップコーティングプロセスは、以下のように実施された。
1. 熱可塑性ポリマーを秤量し(0.1g)、キシレン70mLを含有するビーカー100mLに添加した。
2. ポリマーの完全な溶解を確保するため、溶液を撹拌し、PEについては>110℃、またはPPについては>130℃に加熱した。
3. 溶媒/ナノ粒子の相溶性を確保するために、HMDSを用いてSiO2の表面化学を修飾し(実験報告で述べた方法)、片側に設定した。
4. ポリマーが完全に溶解し、透明な溶液が得られたら、予め官能化されたシリカの正確な質量を添加して、平均厚さx(nm)の既知のポリマーコーティングを有するナノ粒子の懸濁液を形成した。
5. この懸濁液をさらに約10~20分間撹拌しながら、温度を所望の範囲(PEについては83~88℃、またはPPについては68~70℃)に下げた。溶媒をビーカー上にマークして、この期間中に蒸発が失われないことを確実にし、濃度を正確に保った。
6. 最適設定を、ディップコーター(75浸漬速度(1530mm/分)、10秒 浸漬時間、50引抜速度(760mm/分)および10秒 乾燥時間)に設定した。
7. ガラススライドをディップコーターに取り付け、x回の反復を行った。
8. スライドを約30分間放置してコーティングを乾燥させた。
オレイン酸による予備官能化は、溶液中の粒子の分散性に関する問題をもたらす。従って、有機溶媒中の官能化されていないTiO2ナノ粒子の懸濁を助けるために、混合溶媒系を調製した。
1. 熱可塑性物質を秤量し(0.1g)、キシレン60mLを含有するビーカー100mLに添加した。
2. 上記と同様。
3. 上記と同様。
4. ポリマーが完全に溶解し、透明な溶液が得られたら、5mLのブタノールを、ポリマーが溶液から沈殿しないことを確実にするのに充分な遅さで、シリンジを用いてゆっくりと添加した。
5. 官能化されていないチタニアの正確な質量を添加して、平均厚さx(nm)の既知のポリマーコーティングを有するナノ粒子の懸濁液を形成した。
6. 溶液の温度を約10分間撹拌しながら>100℃のままに維持して、大部分のブタノール(ブタノールの沸点;118℃)を除去した。
7. 早期のポリマー沈殿を避けながら、所望の濃度を達成するために溶液の量を70mLまでゆっくりと増加させた。
8. 上記のステップ5~8。
実施例8-スプレーコーティングによるSiO2/PVCフィルム
丸底フラスコ中の溶媒(30ml)にPVC(0.1g)を加え、完全に溶解するまで撹拌した。シリカナノ粒子(0.2353g)をフラスコに添加し、さらに20分間撹拌し、続いて、完全な混合を確実にするために最後の2分間の超音波処理を行った。基材を配置したホットプレートを所望の温度に設定し、シリカ/PVC混合物を、基材が完全にコーティングされるまで加熱した基材上にスプレーコーティングした。異なる溶媒系のホットプレート温度は、次の通りであった:MIBK:80℃、MIBK/トルエン:80℃、THF:50℃。
商業的および工業的な実行可能性を助けるために、溶媒を使用しない製造方法を使用して、強固な超疎水性フィルムを生成した。このプロセスは、シリカ-PVCナノ複合体粒子(以下に記載)を合成し、それらをより微細な粒子凝集体に粉砕し、図12に示すように、180℃で粒子を可塑化PVC材料(前述)にホットプレスすることを含んでいる。可塑化PVC材料(ここでは、基材としても使用される)は、テトラヒドロフラン(THF)に溶解され、コーティングと基材との間の強力な物理的結合を促進するためにシリカ粒子をコーティングするために使用された。これは、機械的堅固性を高めることを目的とした。THFは、最初にシリカ-PVCナノ複合体を合成するために使用されたが、両方の成分と適合性であるより環境に優しい溶媒、例えばメチルイソブチルケトン(MIBK)および酢酸ブチルは、同様の態様で作用し得る。溶媒は、粒子合成中に蒸発/凝集を介して収集し、再循環させることができる。
Claims (15)
- ポリマーコーティングを有するナノ粒子の凝集体を含む超疎水性フィルムであって、ナノ粒子において、粒径対それらのポリマーコーティングの平均厚さの比が2.5:1~20:1である、超疎水性フィルム。
- ナノ粒子が金属酸化物ナノ粒子である、請求項1に記載の超疎水性フィルム。
- 金属酸化物ナノ粒子が、SiO2、TiO2、CeO2およびそれらの混合物から選択される、請求項2に記載の超疎水性フィルム。
- ナノ粒子が5~500nmの平均粒径を有する、請求項1~3のいずれか1項に記載の超疎水性フィルム。
- ポリマーコーティングのポリマーが、ポリジメチルシロキサン、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリ塩化ビニルおよびそれらの混合物から選択される、請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載の超疎水性フィルム。
- ポリマーコーティングの体積対ナノ粒子の体積の比が、1:1~1:3である、請求項1~5のいずれか1項に記載の超疎水性フィルム。
- 少なくとも150°の水接触角を有する、請求項1~6のいずれか1項に記載の超疎水性フィルム。
- 50nm~100μmの厚さを有する、請求項1~7のいずれか1項に記載の超疎水性フィルム。
- 請求項1~8のいずれか1項に記載の超疎水性フィルムを含む物品。
- 基材上に超疎水性フィルムを調製する方法であって、以下を含む方法:
(a)ナノ粒子とポリマーを混合して、ポリマーコーティングを有するナノ粒子を形成すること、
(b)ポリマーコーティングを有するナノ粒子を基材に適用して、超疎水性フィルムを形成すること。 - ナノ粒子およびポリマーが、3:1~1:5の体積比で混合される、請求項10に記載の方法。
- ステップ(a)が、溶媒中でナノ粒子およびポリマーを混合することを含み、ステップ(b)が、ポリマーコーティングを有する溶媒中のナノ粒子を基材に適用することを含む、請求項10または11に記載の方法。
- ステップ(a)の後に、ポリマーコーティングを有するナノ粒子の粉末を形成するステップ(a2)が続き、ステップ(b)が、ポリマーコーティングを有するナノ粒子の粉末を基材上にホットプレスすることを含む、請求項10または11に記載の方法。
- 超疎水性フィルムで物品をコーティングするための配合物であって、ポリマーコーティングを有するナノ粒子を含む配合物。
- 溶媒を含む、請求項14に記載の配合物。
