When a sheet containing a phosphor is used as a backlight of an image display device, afterglow becomes a problem. Since the response speed of the liquid crystal display itself is slow, if the afterimage time is long, the image display device gives the impression that an afterimage remains when displaying a moving image, and red remains even when the image is switched. You may receive it.

However, the embodiments shown below are examples for embodying the technical idea of the present invention, and the present invention is not limited to the following wavelength conversion members and light emitting devices. The relationship between the color name and the chromaticity coordinate, and the relationship between the wavelength range of light and the color name of monochromatic light follow JIS Z8110. Specifically, 380 nm to 455 nm is bluish purple, 455 nm to 485 nm is blue, 485 nm to 495 nm is bluish green, 495 nm to 548 nm is green, 548 nm to 573 nm is yellow green, 573 nm to 584 nm is yellow, and 584 nm to 610 nm is yellow red. , 610 nm to 780 nm is red. Further, in the present specification, terms such as "sheet", "film", and "layer" are not distinguished from each other based only on the difference in designation. The image display device includes a light emitting device and a wavelength conversion member that function as a backlight device. FIG. 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view of an image display device showing an edge light type backlight structure according to the first embodiment. However, for convenience of explanation, the sizes, thicknesses, etc. of the members such as each sheet and the light emitting device are merely examples and are exaggerated.

Display panel The

Wavelength conversion member The sheet-shaped
The wavelength conversion member contains a rare earth metal complex containing a Schiff base ligand, a β-diketonato ligand, a rare earth metal element, a fluoride phosphor containing manganese, and a resin, and emits excitation light. The emission intensity at the time of irradiation is set to 100% as the reference intensity, the time when the irradiation of the excitation light is cut off is set as the reference time, and the afterglow time at which the emission intensity is 36.8% of the reference intensity from the reference time is 4 ms or less. It is difficult for the rare earth metal complex used for the wavelength conversion member to maintain high brightness by itself. However, in the rare earth metal complex, the Schiff base ligand absorbs the light emitted from the light emitting element, for example, the light having an emission peak wavelength in the range of 380 nm or more and 500 nm or less, and the light energy absorbed by the β-diketonato ligand. The afterglow time is shorter than that of the fluoride phosphor because the light energy is transferred to the rare earth metal element and the rare earth metal element emits light by improving the transfer efficiency of the light. On the other hand, a fluoride phosphor containing manganese has a long afterimage by itself, and when used in an image display device having a fast response speed, an afterimage may be anxious. However, since the fluoride phosphor containing manganese has a high luminous flux, it is possible to maintain high brightness. Therefore, by keeping the rare earth metal complex and the fluoride phosphor in a predetermined range, that is, by reducing the amount of the fluoride phosphor in which afterglow tends to remain and increasing the amount of the rare earth metal complex having a short afterglow, high brightness is achieved. The afterglow time at a emission intensity of 36.8% of the reference intensity can be set to 4 ms or less from the reference time while maintaining the above. By setting the rare earth metal complex and the fluoride phosphor in a predetermined range in this way, a wavelength conversion member and a light emitting device capable of shortening the afterglow time of red light emission by excitation light while maintaining high brightness can be provided. Can be provided. As a result, when a light emitting device using a wavelength conversion member is used as a light source, even a fast-moving image is less likely to be affected by afterglow, and an image with good color reproducibility can be projected. For the afterglow time, for example, the wavelength conversion member is irradiated with excitation light having an emission peak wavelength of 450 nm, and the irradiation of the excitation light is blocked by using a spectrophotometer (product name: F-7000, Hitachi High-Technologies Co., Ltd.). The time point was set as the reference time, and the change in emission intensity emitted from the wavelength conversion member from the reference time was measured, and the emission intensity when irradiated with the excitation light was set to 100% as the reference intensity. It can be derived by measuring the time at which the intensity reaches 8%.

One of the zirconiums can be used alone or in combination of two or more of them. The shape of the white pigment is not particularly limited and may be amorphous or crushed, but a spherical shape is preferable from the viewpoint of fluidity. The particle size of the white pigment is, for example, about 0.1 μm or more and 0.5 μm or less, but the smaller the particle size is preferable in order to enhance the effect of light reflection and coating. The content of the white pigment in the light-reflecting coating member can be appropriately selected, but from the viewpoint of light reflectivity and viscosity in the liquid state, it is preferably 10% by mass or more in 100% by mass of the total amount of the coating member. Translucent member The translucent member is a member provided separately from the wavelength conversion sheet, and may be a member that supports the wavelength conversion sheet. The wavelength conversion member preferably includes a translucent member on at least one surface of the wavelength conversion sheet, which is an entrance surface or an emission surface of light. It is more preferable that the wavelength conversion member includes a translucent member on both the entrance surface and the emission surface of the light of the wavelength conversion sheet. When the wavelength conversion member includes translucent members on both the incident surface and the emitting surface of the light of the wavelength conversion sheet, the wavelength conversion sheet is supported from both the incident surface and the emitting surface of the light of the wavelength conversion sheet. It is possible to improve the intensity and suppress the invasion of water vapor and air into the wavelength conversion sheet. As the translucent member, a plate-like body made of a translucent material such as glass or resin can be used. As the glass, for example, borosilicate glass and quartz glass can be selected. Further, the resin can be selected from, for example, a silicone resin and an epoxy resin. The thickness of the plate-shaped translucent member may be any thickness as long as it does not reduce the mechanical strength in the manufacturing process and can impart sufficient mechanical strength to the wavelength conversion sheet. Further, if the thickness of the translucent member is too thick, it hinders the miniaturization of the light emitting device and the heat dissipation property is lowered, so it is preferable to make it an appropriate thickness. Further, the translucent member may contain light diffusion. When the light diffusing material is contained in the translucent member, it is possible to suppress color unevenness or luminance unevenness of the emitted color from the wavelength conversion sheet. As the light diffusing material, titanium oxide, barium titanate, aluminum oxide, silicon oxide and the like can be used. Further, the upper surface of the translucent member serving as a light emitting surface is not limited to a flat surface, and may have fine irregularities. When the light emitting surface of the translucent member has fine irregularities, it is possible to promote the scattering of the emitted light from the light emitting surface and further suppress the luminance unevenness and the color unevenness.

Evaluation of light emitting device The following evaluation was performed for each backlight device of Examples and Comparative Examples. The following evaluation was measured by passing a current of 10 mA through the backlight device. The results are shown in Table 1.
For the chromaticity coordinates (x, y) and luminance backlight device, the emission spectrum is measured using an optical measurement system that combines a multi-channel spectroscope and an integrating sphere, and the chromaticity coordinates in the chromaticity coordinates of the CIE 1931 chromaticity diagram. (X, y) and brightness were determined. The relative brightness (%) of each of the backlight devices of Examples and Comparative Examples was determined by setting the brightness of the backlight device of Comparative Example 1 to 100%.
Afterglow time At reference time, the wavelength conversion member is irradiated with excitation light with an emission peak wavelength of 450 nm provided in each backlight device, and a spectrophotometer (product name: F-7000, Hitachi High-Technologies Co., Ltd.) is used. The time when the irradiation of the excitation light was cut off was set. For the afterglow time, the change over time of the emission intensity emitted from the wavelength conversion member of the backlight device from the reference time is measured, and the emission intensity when irradiated with the excitation light is set to 100% as the reference intensity, with respect to the reference intensity of 100%. The time was set so that the emission intensity was 36.8%.
Since the backlight device using the wavelength conversion member according to Examples 1 to 3 contains both the rare earth metal complex and the fluoride phosphor in the wavelength conversion sheet, the afterglow time can be shortened to 4 ms or less. .. Further, the backlight device using the wavelength conversion member according to Examples 1 to 3 had higher brightness than the backlight device using the wavelength conversion member according to Comparative Example 1. Therefore, when these backlight devices are used in an image display device using a liquid crystal display, it is possible to project an image having good color reproducibility with little influence of afterglow even if the image operates quickly. .. In the backlight device using the wavelength conversion member according to Comparative Example 2, the afterglow time was shortened because the wavelength conversion sheet did not contain the fluoride phosphor, but the relative brightness was described in Examples 1 to 3. It was not as expensive as the backlight device using the wavelength conversion member.
The embodiments of the present disclosure are useful for various lighting light sources, vehicle-mounted light sources, display light sources, and the like.
