Abstract
Description
In the present invention, molten metal is supplied to a molten metal pool portion formed by a pair of cooling rolls and a pair of side dams via a pouring nozzle, and a solidified shell is formed and grown on the peripheral surface of the cooling rolls. A scum weir disposed in the molten metal pool portion, a method for manufacturing a thin-walled slab using this scum weir, and a bi-roll continuous casting apparatus in a twin-roll type continuous casting apparatus for producing thin-walled slabs. be.
As a method for producing a thin-walled metal slab, for example, as shown in
Here, in the above-mentioned molten metal pool portion, oxides and the like float on the molten metal surface of the molten metal pool portion to form a film-like foreign substance called a scum, and this scum is the peripheral surface of the cooling roll, details. May be intermittently caught between the peripheral surface of the cooling roll and the solidification shell (hereinafter, may be simply referred to as the peripheral surface of the cooling roll). The entrained scum causes solidification and cooling non-uniformity of the thin-walled slab, which causes surface cracks, surface flaws, deterioration of slab quality, and the like of the thin-walled slab.
Therefore, there has been proposed a technique for suppressing scum on the molten metal surface from being caught in the peripheral surface of the cooling roll when casting a thin-walled slab using the above-mentioned double-roll type continuous casting apparatus.
For example,
The scum weir floated to the surface of the hot water by immersing the scum weir between the pouring nozzle and the meniscus (the surface of the molten metal and the contact start site of the cooling roll, the start point of solidification) in parallel with the axis of the cooling roll. It is possible to block the scum. Since the molten metal reaches the meniscus through the lower part of the soaked scum weir, scum entrainment on the molten metal surface is significantly prevented, and a sound slab is produced.
Here, for the purpose of improving productivity, it is required to produce a wide thin-walled slab. When casting a wide thin-walled slab, it is necessary to increase the throughput (production amount per unit time, that is, molten metal supply amount).
However, due to the weight limitation and cost limitation of the pouring nozzle, it is difficult to expand the width of the nozzle discharge port by the same ratio as the casting width. Therefore, in wide casting, the discharge flow velocity from the pouring nozzle increases.
As a result, (1) the undulation of the molten metal in the vicinity of the meniscus becomes severe and the solidification non-uniformity deteriorates, and (2) the undulation when the discharge flow with increased flow velocity collides with the surface of the scum weir facing the pouring nozzle side. The scum becomes more likely to get caught in the molten metal, and after colliding with the surface facing the nozzle side, it descends and rises through the lower end of the scum dam, and the scum moving to the cooling roll side increases and gets caught near the meniscus. (3) The discharge flow that descends after colliding with the surface of the scum dam facing the nozzle side and collides with the solidified shell as it is increases, and the shell washing phenomenon in which the solidified shell melts due to the heat of the discharge flow becomes severe. In a significant case, a breakout may occur in which the solidified shell breaks and the casting must be interrupted. These three problems are particularly remarkable in the range facing the nozzle ejection port.
As a countermeasure against these, it is conceivable to immerse the scum weir deeper to weaken the discharge flow velocity reaching the meniscus. The nozzle discharge flow collides with the scum weir and the momentum is relaxed. The weakened molten metal flow passes through the lower end of the scum weir, moves between the cooling roll / scum weir, and then rises again to reach the meniscus. The meniscus is stable because it is adjusted to an appropriate flow velocity.
After reaching the meniscus, the molten metal branches to the left and right and flows in a narrow flow path sandwiched between the cooling roll and the scum weir in a direction parallel to the axis of the cooling roll. In a conventional general scum weir, the immersion depth is uniform in the width direction, and the immersion depth is the same at the center of the width where the nozzle discharge flow is to be weakened and at both sides where the molten metal is sufficiently supplied. .. When the molten metal passes through the narrow flow path sandwiched between the cooling roll and the scum weir, it receives flow resistance, and the flow velocity decreases as the distance from the center of the width increases. As a result, there was a tendency that the uniform supply of the molten metal to the entire width including the most edge portion was insufficient only by the flow in which the nozzle discharge flow was branched to the left and right.
In this way, by deeply immersing the scum weir whose immersion depth is uniform in the width direction, the nozzle discharge flow can be weakened, while heading toward both sides in parallel with the axis of the cooling roll branched from the center of the width to the left and right. Since the flow velocity is also reduced, the uniform supply of molten metal to the entire width including the most edge portion is insufficient only by the flow in which the nozzle discharge flow is branched to the left and right. On both sides, the surface of the molten metal was not stable and fluctuated, and wrinkles and cracks may occur on the surface of the slab, and porosity may occur inside.
Therefore,
However, as shown in
As a result of the investigation by the inventors, the corner of the thickness cross section (hereinafter referred to as the edge portion) of the scum weir, particularly the corner formed by the intersection of the thickness cross section and the plate surface on the nozzle side, causes turbulence, resulting in cooling on both side portions. It was found that the smooth flow of molten metal between the roll / scum weir was hindered and the molten metal level fluctuated.
The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned situation, and even when the flow velocity of the molten metal discharged from the pouring nozzle is large, for example, in the production of a wide thin-walled slab, the meniscus. Solidification uniformity in the casting width direction by reducing the flow velocity of the molten metal and at the same time smoothing the flow of the molten metal in the width direction from the center of the width to both sides and improving the uniformity of the molten metal supply in the width direction. Provided are a scum weir capable of producing thin-walled slabs having excellent surface texture and internal quality by improving the properties, a method for producing thin-walled slabs using this scum weir, and a twin-roll casting apparatus. The purpose is.
In order to solve the above problems, the scum weir according to the present invention supplies molten metal to a molten metal pool portion formed by a pair of rotating cooling rolls and a pair of side weirs via a pouring nozzle. In a twin-roll type continuous casting device that forms and grows a solidified shell on the peripheral surface of a cooling roll to produce thin-walled slabs, it is arranged in the molten metal pool portion so as to face the discharge port of the pouring nozzle. The scum dam has a plate shape, and one end in the height direction is a molten metal dipping portion in which the molten metal is immersed in the molten metal in the molten metal pool portion, and the molten metal dipping portion has a width. The shape is such that the immersion depth at the center of the direction is deeper than the other width direction positions, and at least a part of the edge portion of the molten metal immersion portion that is not parallel to the width direction, from one plate surface to the other. It is characterized by having an inclined surface gradually inclined from the center in the width direction to the outside in the width direction according to the plate surface of the metal.
According to the scum weir having this configuration, the scum weir has a plate shape, and one end in the height direction is a molten metal immersion portion immersed in the molten metal in the molten metal pool portion, and the molten metal immersion portion has a width. Since the immersion depth at the center of the direction is deeper than at other width directions, the discharge flow that has risen again after passing through the lower end of the scum dam is moderately weakened in the meniscus at the center of the width. To be reached. As a result, it is possible to prevent the meniscus from waving on the surface of the water and entraining scum. On the other hand, since both sides of the center of the width are immersed relatively shallower than the center of the width, the flow path sandwiched between the cooling roll and the scum weir is passed from the center of the width toward both sides of the cooling roll. In addition to the molten metal flowing parallel to the axis, the molten metal is supplied through the flow path passing through the lower end of the scum weir, and a sufficient amount of molten metal is supplied to both sides other than the center of the width in the width direction. A uniform height of the water surface is ensured. By the above effect, the nozzle discharge flow velocity at the center of the width can be weakened, and at the same time, the height of the meniscus molten metal can be made uniform over the entire width.
Then, at least a part of the edge portion of the molten metal immersion portion that is not parallel to the width direction is gradually inclined from the center in the width direction to the outside in the width direction from one plate surface toward the other plate surface. Since it has an inclined surface, this scum dam is placed in the molten metal pool portion so that the width direction is parallel to the axis of the cooling roll and one of the plate surfaces faces the pouring nozzle side. When immersed, the vector that projects the normal vector of the inclined surface onto the horizontal plane is arranged so as to be inclined toward the pouring nozzle side with respect to the axis of the cooling roll, and both from the center of the width. Since the resistance to the flow of the molten metal toward the side can be reduced to smooth the flow in the width direction and the uniformity in the width direction of the supply of the molten metal can be improved, the height of the molten metal can be further increased over the entire width of the molten metal pool portion. Can be stabilized.
Here, in the scum weir of the present invention, at least a part of the edge portion parallel to the width direction in the molten metal immersion portion is gradually increased in height from one plate surface toward the other plate surface. It is preferable to have a second inclined surface inclined so as to recede toward the other end side in the wedge direction.
In this case, when the scum dam is immersed in the molten metal pool portion so that the width direction is parallel to the axis of the cooling roll and one of the plate surfaces faces the pouring nozzle side, the second plate is used. A vector that projects the normal vector of the inclined surface onto a plane orthogonal to the axis of the cooling roll is arranged so as to be inclined toward the cooling roll side with respect to the vertical direction, and is horizontally arranged in the casting width direction. After passing through the lower end of the placed scum dam, the resistance to the rising flow toward the meniscus is reduced to smooth the rising flow, and the time fluctuation of the meniscus molten metal surface can be suppressed, so that the height of the molten metal in the casting longitudinal direction is further increased. It can be stabilized and scum entrainment can be reduced.
In the method for producing a thin-walled slab of the present invention, molten metal is supplied to a molten metal pool portion formed by a pair of rotating cooling rolls and a pair of side dams via a pouring nozzle, and the peripheral surface of the cooling rolls is supplied. It is a method of manufacturing a thin-walled slab that forms and grows a solidified shell to produce a thin-walled slab, and a plate-shaped scum dam is arranged between the cooling roll and the pouring nozzle. The scum dam is arranged so that its width direction is parallel to the axis of the cooling roll, one of the plate surfaces faces the pouring nozzle side, and the scum dam is inclined at an angle θ with respect to the vertical direction. One end in the radial direction is a molten metal dipping portion to be immersed in the molten metal in the molten metal pool portion, and in the molten metal dipping portion, the immersion depth in the central portion in the width direction is positioned in the other width direction. The shape is deeper than that, and at least a part of the edge portion of the molten metal immersion portion that is not parallel to the width direction gradually becomes deeper from one plate surface to the other plate surface side. An inclined surface inclined from the center in the width direction toward the outside in the width direction is formed, and when the scum dam is arranged in the molten metal pool portion, a vector projecting the normal vector of the inclined surface onto the horizontal plane is formed. It is characterized in that it is arranged at an angle of 5 ° or more toward the pouring nozzle side with respect to the axis of the cooling roll.
According to the method for manufacturing a thin-walled slab having this configuration, the plate-shaped scum weir has a width direction parallel to the axis of the cooling roll, and one of the plate surfaces faces the pouring nozzle side and is vertical. It is arranged so as to be inclined at an angle θ with respect to the direction, and one end in the height direction is a molten metal dipping portion in which the molten metal is immersed in the molten metal in the molten metal pool portion. Since the immersion depth in the central part in the width direction is deeper than in other width direction positions, the discharge flow that has risen again after passing through the lower end of the scum dam is moderately applied to the meniscus in the central part of the width direction. Reach weakened. As a result, it is possible to prevent the meniscus from waving on the surface of the water and entraining scum. On the other hand, since both sides of the central portion of the width are immersed relatively shallower than the central portion of the width, the axis of the cooling roll is formed along the flow path sandwiched between the cooling roll and the scum weir from the central portion of the width toward both side portions. In addition to the molten metal flowing in parallel with, the molten metal is supplied through the flow path passing through the lower end of the scum weir, and a sufficient amount of molten metal is supplied to both side portions other than the central portion of the width in the width direction. A uniform water surface height is ensured. By the above effect, the nozzle discharge flow velocity at the center of the width can be weakened, and at the same time, the height of the molten metal can be made uniform over the entire width.
Then, at least a part of the edge portion of the molten metal immersion portion that is not parallel to the width direction is gradually directed from the center in the width direction to the outside in the width direction from the one plate surface toward the other plate surface. The molten metal pool portion has an inclined surface that is inclined so that the width direction is parallel to the axis of the cooling roll and one of the plate surfaces faces the pouring nozzle side. When immersed in, the vector that projects the normal vector of the inclined surface onto the horizontal plane is arranged so as to be inclined by 5 ° or more toward the pouring nozzle side with respect to the axis of the cooling roll, and has a width. Since resistance to molten metal flow from the center to both sides can be reduced to smooth the flow in the width direction and the uniformity of the supply of molten metal in the width direction can be improved, the height of the molten metal surface over the entire width of the molten metal pool portion. It can be further stabilized.
Here, in the method for producing a thin-walled slab of the present invention, at least a part of the edge portion parallel to the width direction in the molten metal dipping portion is directed from one plate surface to the other plate surface side. Therefore, a second inclined surface is gradually inclined so as to recede toward the other end in the height direction, and when the scum dam is arranged in the molten metal pool portion, the method of the second inclined surface is formed. It is preferable that the vector projecting the line vector onto a plane orthogonal to the axis of the cooling roll is arranged at an inclination of 5 ° or more toward the cooling roll side with respect to the vertical direction.
In this case, when the scum dam is immersed in the molten metal pool portion so that the width direction is parallel to the axis of the cooling roll and one of the plate surfaces faces the pouring nozzle side, the second plate is used. Since the vector projecting the normal vector of the inclined surface onto the plane orthogonal to the axis of the cooling roll is arranged at an inclination of 5 ° or more toward the cooling roll side with respect to the vertical direction, it is horizontal in the casting width direction. After passing through the lower end of the scum dam placed in, the resistance to the ascending flow toward the meniscus is reduced to smooth the ascending flow, and the time fluctuation of the meniscus molten metal surface can be suppressed. It can be further stabilized and scum entrainment can be reduced.
In the twin roll type continuous casting apparatus of the present invention, molten metal is supplied to a molten metal pool portion formed by a pair of rotating cooling rolls and a pair of side dams via a pouring nozzle, and the peripheral surface of the cooling rolls is supplied. It is a twin-roll type continuous casting device that forms and grows a solidified shell to produce thin-walled slabs, in which the width direction of the scum dam is parallel to the axis of the cooling roll and the scum dam is described above. It is characterized in that one plate surface of the scum dam faces the pouring nozzle side and is inclined at an angle θ with respect to the vertical direction.
According to the twin-roll type continuous casting apparatus having this configuration, in the scum dam, the width direction of the scum dam is parallel to the axis of the cooling roll, and one plate surface of the scum dam is the pouring nozzle. Since it is arranged facing sideways and inclined at an angle θ with respect to the vertical direction, resistance to flow from the center of the width toward both sides is reduced to smooth the flow in the width direction, and the supply of molten metal is uniform in the width direction. Since the property can be improved, the height of the molten metal surface can be further stabilized over the entire width of the molten metal pool portion.
As described above, according to the present invention, even when the flow velocity of the molten metal discharged from the pouring nozzle is large, for example, when producing a wide thin-walled slab, the flow velocity of the molten metal in the meniscus is weakened. At the same time, by smoothing the flow of molten metal in the width direction from the center of the width to both sides and improving the uniformity of the molten metal supply in the width direction, the solidification uniformity in the casting width direction is improved. It is possible to provide a scum weir capable of producing a thin-walled slab having excellent surface properties and internal quality, a method for producing a thin-walled slab using this scum weir, and a twin-roll casting apparatus.

Although the scum weir, the method for producing a thin-walled slab, and the double-roll type continuous casting apparatus according to the embodiment of the present invention have been specifically described above, the present invention is not limited thereto, and the present invention is not limited thereto. It can be changed as appropriate without departing from the technical idea.
For example, in the present embodiment, as shown in the figure, a twin-roll type continuous casting apparatus in which pinch rolls are arranged has been described as an example, but the arrangement of these rolls and the like is not limited, and the design is appropriately changed. May be good.
Further, in the present embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, the scum weir having a shape divided in the width direction has been described, but the present invention is not limited to this, and the immersion depth in the central portion in the width direction is not limited to this. The shape may be deep and relatively shallow at the end in the width direction, and may be, for example, a semicircular (fan), elliptical, or polygonal shape.
Specifically, as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, it has a pentagonal flat plate shape, and the immersion depth becomes shallower from the deepest immersion in the width direction to the width direction end portion. May be good.

As the scum weir, the one having the structure shown in FIGS. 5 and 6 was prepared.
The structure is such that the central portion in the width direction is immersed deepest, and the immersion depth in the central portion in the width direction is 40 mm and the width is 500 mm. The immersion depth is made to match the lower end of the nozzle discharge port, and the width is also the same as the nozzle discharge port. Therefore, the front surface of the nozzle discharge port has a geometrical positional relationship in which the entire surface is blocked by the central portion in the width direction of the scum weir toward the cooling roll direction so that the discharge flow does not directly reach the cooling roll.

No. 1 to 14 are examples of the present invention, in which the thickness cross section of each of the five portions is inclined to change the width direction inclination angle α and the vertical inclination angle β. Since the tilting process is performed symmetrically, the width direction tilt angle of the central adjacent portion is α2, the vertical tilt angle of the center adjacent portion is β2, the width direction tilt angle of the width direction end is α3, and the width direction end portion. The vertical inclination angle is indicated by β3.
No. 1 to 9, 12, and 13 are examples of inclined processing over the entire thickness of the thickness cross section. When α or β is 45 ° or more, the amount of cracks and wrinkles can be reduced most because the molten steel supply in the width direction and the ascending flow after passing through the scum weir can be smoothed, and the evaluation was ◎. ..
When α and β were 5 ° or more and less than 45 °, the amount of cracks and wrinkles could be sufficiently reduced, and the evaluation was 〇. In No. 8 where α was 5 ° and β was 3 °, the evaluation of wrinkles was ×, but the evaluation of cracks was 〇, and there was no problem in practical use.
No. No. 10 is located on the nozzle-
No.
On the other hand, No. 51 to 53 are comparative examples. No. No. 51 is an example in which the inclining process was not performed. 52 is an example in which the inclination angle is less than 5 ° for both α and β. In each case, the effect of reducing cracks and wrinkles was insufficient, and the evaluation of cracks and wrinkles was x. No. 53 is an example in which the tilt angle β was 5 °, but the tilt angle α was less than 5 °. Since α was less than 5 °, molten steel was not smoothly supplied to the entire casting width. As a result, even if β was 5 °, the effect of reducing cracks and wrinkles could not be obtained, and both were evaluated as ×. From this result, it was shown that the tilting process in the width direction is more important than the tilting process in the vertical direction.
(Example 2)
As the scum weir, the one having the structure shown in FIGS. 7 and 8 was prepared. The width of 200 mm at the center of the width is horizontal, and the immersion depth is 40 mm, which is the deepest in the width direction. It is an inverted trapezoidal pentagon with a shallow hypotenuse.
The immersion depth at the lower end of the nozzle discharge port coincides with the immersion depth at the center in the width direction, and the front surface of the discharge port of the quadrangular slit having a width of 500 mm and a height of 20 mm has an area of about 87 toward the cooling roll direction. % Is in a geometrical positional relationship that is blocked by the central part of the scum weir in the width direction.
The lower end of the central part in the width direction was horizontal and was not inclined in the vertical direction.
The nozzle surface side of the hypotenuse on both sides of the central portion in the width direction was inclined in the width direction, and the inclination angle was set to α1. It was also tested when the nozzle surface side of both ends in the width direction facing the side weir was inclined in the width direction, and the inclination angle was shown by α2.
In Example 2, the lower end surface horizontally arranged in the casting width direction was not inclined in the vertical direction.
Casting was performed under the above conditions, and the surface of the produced slab was visually observed to evaluate cracks and wrinkles in the slab. The evaluation results are shown in Table 2.
Regarding cracks in slabs, "◎" is when the crack length is less than 3.0 cm / m 2 , and "○" is when the crack length is 3.0 cm / m 2 or more and less than 10.0 cm / m 2 . A case of / m 2 or more was evaluated as "x".
Regarding wrinkles on the slab, if the wrinkle length is less than 10.0 cm / m 2 , "◎", if it is 10.0 cm / m 2 or more and less than 25.0 cm / m 2 , "○", 25.0 cm. A case of / m 2 or more was evaluated as "x".
No. 21-29 are examples of the present invention. The hypotenuse and the most edge portion were symmetrically inclined in the width direction toward the nozzle surface side.
No. 21 to 26, 29 are examples in which the thickness cross section of the hypotenuse portion is inclined over the entire thickness. When the inclination angle α1 was 45 ° or more, the molten steel could be smoothly supplied in the width direction, so that the amount of cracks and wrinkles could be reduced most, and the evaluation was ⊚. The evaluation when α1 was 5 ° or more and less than 45 ° was 〇.
No. No. 27 is located on the nozzle-
No. Reference numeral 29 is an example in which the widthwise inclination angle α2 is applied to the side surface of the outermost edge portion facing the side weir by 10 °. No. with the same tilting process other than α2. The same result as in 2 was obtained, and the evaluation was 〇.
On the other hand, No. 61 and 62 are comparative examples. No. No. 61 is an example in which the inclining process was not performed. 62 is an example in which the inclination angle α1 is less than 5 °. In each case, the effect of reducing cracks and wrinkles was insufficient, and the evaluation of cracks and wrinkles was x.
From the above results, according to the present invention, even when the flow velocity of the molten steel discharged from the pouring nozzle is large, such as when producing a wide thin-walled slab, the flow velocity of the molten metal in the meniscus is weakened and at the same time, the width is reduced. Improves solidification uniformity in the casting width by smoothing the flow of molten metal in the width direction from the center to both sides and improving the width uniformity of the molten metal supply, surface texture and interior. It was confirmed that a scum weir capable of producing thin-walled slabs having excellent quality, a method for producing thin-walled slabs using this scum weir, and a double-roll type continuous casting apparatus can be provided.
