Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a thermoelectric conversion element.
Conventionally, as one of the effective utilization means of energy, there is a device in which thermal energy and electric energy are directly converted into each other by a thermoelectric conversion module having a thermoelectric effect such as the Seebeck effect and the Peltier effect.
As the thermoelectric conversion module, the use of a so-called π-type thermoelectric conversion element is known. In the π type, a pair of electrodes separated from each other are provided on a substrate, for example, a P-type thermoelectric conversion element is provided on one electrode and an N-type thermoelectric conversion element is provided on the other electrode, also separated from each other. , It is configured by connecting the top surfaces of both thermoelectric materials to the electrodes of the opposing substrates. Further, the use of a so-called in-plane type thermoelectric conversion element is known. In the in-plane type, P-type thermoelectric conversion elements and N-type thermoelectric conversion elements are alternately provided in the in-plane direction of the substrate. For example, the lower part of the joint between the two thermoelectric conversion elements is connected in series via electrodes. It is composed of.
Under these circumstances, there is a demand for improving the thermoelectric performance of the thermoelectric conversion module. In order to satisfy these requirements, for example, a bismuth sterlide-based material is used as an N-type thermoelectric semiconductor material and a P-type thermoelectric semiconductor material from the viewpoint of thermoelectric performance (see, for example, Patent Document 1). When the thermoelectric semiconductor composition containing such a material is printed by a screen printing method or the like, the thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces are formed on the substrate at predetermined intervals. By pressing (pressing) the thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces formed on the substrate at predetermined intervals in this way, the pressed pieces are obtained, and the obtained pressed pieces are subjected to a treatment such as firing (annealing). As a result, a thermoelectric conversion element can be obtained.
When pressing (pressing) a thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece formed on a substrate at a predetermined interval, a die having an outer frame for each thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece (for example, the die 8 in FIG. 8) is usually used. See) is used. By pressing with such a mold, the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece may spread in the width direction, and the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece may be transferred to the outer frame of the mold. There is a problem that the transferred composition piece is deformed at the time of peeling and becomes defective, which leads to a decrease in the production yield, and thus cannot be efficiently produced.
In view of the above circumstances, in view of the above circumstances, the thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces are expanded in the width direction by pressing, and the adjacent thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces (for example, see the adjacent thermoelectric semiconductor composition 2s in FIG. 1B) face each other. Even when the pair of side surfaces (for example, see the pair of side surfaces 2sb in FIG. 1B) are close to each other, one or both of the pair of side surfaces of the adjacent thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces are transferred to the pressing member. An object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a thermoelectric conversion element that can be prevented from being worn.

Among these, a bismuth-tellurium-based thermoelectric semiconductor material, a tellurium-based thermoelectric semiconductor material, an antimony-tellurium-based thermoelectric semiconductor material, or a bismuth selenide-based thermoelectric semiconductor material is preferable.

Further, as the N-type bismuth telluride, one having an electron carrier and a negative Seebeck coefficient, for example, represented by Bi 2 Te 3-Y Se Y is preferably used. In this case, Y is preferably 0 ≦ Y ≦ 3 (when Y = 0: Bi 2 Te 3 ), and more preferably 0 <Y ≦ 2.7. When Y is 0 or more and 3 or less, the Seebeck coefficient and the electric conductivity become large, and the characteristics as an N-type thermoelectric conversion element are maintained, which is preferable.
The thermoelectric semiconductor material used in the thermoelectric semiconductor composition is usually in the form of thermoelectric semiconductor particles pulverized to a predetermined size by a fine pulverizer or the like.
The blending amount of the thermoelectric semiconductor particles as the thermoelectric semiconductor material in the thermoelectric semiconductor composition is preferably 30 to 99% by mass. It is more preferably 50 to 96% by mass, and even more preferably 70 to 95% by mass. When the blending amount of the thermoelectric semiconductor particles is within the above range, the Seebeck coefficient (absolute value of the Peltier coefficient) is large, the decrease in the electric conductivity is suppressed, and only the thermal conductivity is decreased, so that high thermoelectric performance is exhibited. At the same time, a thermoelectric conversion element having sufficient strength and flexibility can be obtained, which is preferable.

Further, the thermoelectric semiconductor particles are preferably heat-treated in advance (the "heat treatment" here is different from the "annealing treatment" performed in the annealing treatment step in the method for manufacturing a thermoelectric conversion element of the present invention. ). By performing the heat treatment, the crystallinity of the thermoelectric semiconductor particles is improved, and further, the surface oxide film of the thermoelectric semiconductor particles is removed, so that the Seebeck coefficient or the Peltier coefficient of the thermoelectric conversion material is increased, and the thermoelectric performance index is further increased. Can be improved. The heat treatment is not particularly limited, but before preparing the thermoelectric semiconductor composition, the gas flow rate is controlled so as not to adversely affect the thermoelectric semiconductor particles under an atmosphere of an inert gas such as nitrogen or argon. It is preferably carried out in a reducing gas atmosphere such as hydrogen or under vacuum conditions, and more preferably in a mixed gas atmosphere of an inert gas and a reducing gas. The specific temperature condition depends on the thermoelectric semiconductor particles used, but it is usually preferably carried out at a temperature equal to or lower than the melting point of the particles and at 100 to 1500 ° C. for several minutes to several tens of hours.

<Method for preparing thermoelectric semiconductor composition>
The method for preparing the thermoelectric semiconductor composition used in the present invention is not particularly limited, and the thermoelectric semiconductor particles and the heat-resistant resin are prepared by a known method such as an ultrasonic homogenizer, a spiral mixer, a planetary mixer, a disperser, and a hybrid mixer. , One or both of the ionic liquid and the inorganic ionic compound, and if necessary, the other additive and a solvent may be added and mixed and dispersed to prepare the thermoelectric semiconductor composition.
Examples of the solvent include solvents such as toluene, ethyl acetate, methyl ethyl ketone, alcohol, tetrahydrofuran, methylpyrrolidone, and ethyl cellosolve. One of these solvents may be used alone, or two or more of these solvents may be mixed and used. The solid content concentration of the thermoelectric semiconductor composition is not particularly limited as long as the composition has a viscosity suitable for coating.
(B) Thermoelectric Semiconductor Composition Single Pressing Step In the thermoelectric semiconductor composition single pressing step, n (n is an integer of 2 or more) thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces obtained in the step (A) are m (m). Is a step of obtaining a pressing piece by pressing with a concave portion of a pressing member having a concave portion (an integer of (n-1) or less). For example, in FIG. 1B, the upper surface 2sa of the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece 2s is pressed by the top surface 5ab of the
Here, in FIG. 1, n (6) thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces 2s are divided into m (2) groups 2s' on the substrate 1a (FIG. 1 (a)). ), A pressing
In the above, the 6 pieces 2s are divided into 2 groups 2s'(3 pieces, 3 pieces), but the present invention is not limited to this, and for example, the 6 pieces 2s are divided into 2 groups 2s'. : (5 pieces, 1 piece) or (4 pieces, 2 pieces) may be divided into 3 groups 2s'; (2 pieces, 2 pieces, 2 pieces), (3 pieces, 2 pieces, 1 piece), Alternatively, it may be divided into (4 pieces, 1 piece, 1 piece), and 4 groups 2s': (3 pieces, 1 piece, 1 piece, 1 piece) or (2 pieces, 2 pieces, 1 piece, 1 piece). It may be divided into 5 groups 2s': (2 pieces, 1 piece, 1 piece, 1 piece, 1 piece).
In this way, n thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces 2s are pressed by m (m is an integer of n-1 or less) recesses 5a (at least one
As one aspect of pressing, the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece obtained in the step (A) is dried in the step (C) described later, and then the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece is cooled to room temperature and then in an atmospheric pressure atmosphere. It is preferable to do so. Further, as another embodiment, the pressing is applied so that the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece obtained in the step (A) is dried in the step (C) described later, and then the drying temperature is adjusted without cooling the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece to room temperature. It is preferable to maintain the temperature and put it into the annealing step in the step (D) described later.
Examples of the pressurizing method at the time of pressing include a method using a physical pressurizing means such as a hydraulic press, a vacuum press, and a weight. The amount of pressurization at the time of pressing varies depending on the viscosity of the thermoelectric semiconductor composition and the like, but is usually 0.1 to 80 MPa, preferably 1.0 to 60 MPa, more preferably 5 to 50 MPa, still more preferably. It is 10 to 42 MPa. The pressurization at the time of pressing may be increased to a predetermined pressurization amount at once, but is appropriately adjusted from the viewpoint of maintaining the shape stability of the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece, but is usually 0.1 to 50 MPa. The pressurization amount is increased to a predetermined pressurization amount at / min, preferably 0.5 to 30 MPa / min, and more preferably 1.0 to 10 MPa / min.
The pressurizing time at the time of pressing varies depending on the pressurizing method, but is usually 5 seconds to 5 hours, preferably 30 seconds to 3 hours, more preferably 5 minutes to 2 hours, and further preferably 10 minutes to 1 hour.
If the pressurization amount and pressurization time at the time of pressing are within this range, the electrical conductivity of the thermoelectric conversion element after the annealing treatment can be easily improved.
(Pressing member)
The material of the pressing member is not particularly limited as long as it can press the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece and does not break during the pressing. For example, glass, silicon, ceramic, metal, or plastic. However, glass, silicon, ceramic, and metal are preferable from the viewpoint of performing the annealing treatment at a high temperature.
Further, as shown in FIG. 1, the pressing
Further, as shown in FIG. 3, for example, m (6) recesses 5a corresponding to each of m (6) thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece groups 2s'(see FIG. 4) are formed. The pressing member 5B may be used, and as shown in FIG. 5, all m (6) thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece groups 2s'(see FIG. 4) (108 thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces 2s). The pressing member 5C having one
Here, from the viewpoint of easily aligning the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece with the recess, the position of the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece must be detected by a laser or the like (for example, the pressing member is glass or the like). It is preferable that it is made of the transparent material of the above, and that the pressing member is provided with a through hole for detection, etc.).
The surface roughness Ra of the portion in contact with the upper surface of the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece (that is, the top plate portion of the recess) is preferably 0.2 μm or less, more preferably 0, from the viewpoint of maintaining the performance of the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece. .1 μm or less, more preferably 0.05 μm or less.
<凹部>
<Recess>
The number of recesses (m) in the pressing member is not particularly limited as long as it is smaller than the number (n) of thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces (m is an integer of (n-1) or less). As described above, since the number of recesses (m) is smaller than the number of thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces (n), at least one recess in the pressing member presses the plurality of thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the pressing member from interposing between the plurality of thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces, and if the pressing member expands the thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces in the width direction, the thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces are adjacent to each other. Even when the pair of opposite side surfaces of the above are close to each other, it is possible to prevent one or both of the pair of side surfaces of the adjacent thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces from being transferred to the pressing member.
The length of the piece of the recess is not particularly limited, but is preferably 5 to 100 mm, more preferably 10 to 75 mm, and further preferably 15 to 50 mm from the viewpoint of the mechanical strength of the pressing member and the pressing accuracy.
The depth D of the recess is smaller than the height H of the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece pressed by the recess (height H of the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece pressed by the recess) before being pressed in the step (B), and the recess exists. As long as it exceeds 0, there is no particular limitation, but from the viewpoint of maintaining the performance of the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece and preventing transfer, it is preferably 30 to 95% of the height H, and more preferably the height H. It is 35 to 90%, more preferably 40 to 85% of the height H.
Further, the distance X between the side surface 2sc of the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece 2s and the side surface 5ac of the
As shown in FIG. 1B, when the distance X between the side surface 2sc of the electrosemiconductor composition piece 2s and the side surface 5ac of the
The "recess" means a "recessed portion defined by a portion (board contact portion) of the pressing member that can come into contact with the substrate". For example, the
(C) Thermoelectric Semiconductor Composition Piece Drying Step The thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece drying step is a step of drying the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece obtained in the step (A). For example, in FIG. 1A, the substrate is shown. This is a step of drying the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece 2s on 1a.
As the drying method, conventionally known drying methods such as a hot air drying method, a hot roll drying method, and an infrared irradiation method can be adopted. The heating temperature is usually 80 to 170 ° C, preferably 100 to 150 ° C, more preferably 110 to 145 ° C, and even more preferably 120 to 140 ° C.
The heating time varies depending on the heating method, but is usually 30 seconds to 5 hours, preferably 1 minute to 3 hours, more preferably 5 minutes to 2 hours, and further preferably 10 minutes to 50 minutes.
If the heating temperature and heating time are within this range, it is easy to improve the electrical conductivity of the thermoelectric conversion element after pressurization and annealing treatment.
When a solvent is used in the preparation of the thermoelectric semiconductor composition, the heating temperature may be in a temperature range in which the solvent used can be dried or in a temperature range lower than that.
(D) Annealing process The annealing process is a step of annealing the pressed piece obtained in the step (B). For example, in FIG. 1 (c), the pressed piece 2t is annealed at the annealing temperature. It is a process to do. After the annealing treatment, the
The thermoelectric conversion element forms a thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece on a substrate, arbitrarily dries it, presses it to obtain a pressed piece, and performs an arbitrary annealing treatment before or after pressing to improve thermoelectric performance. It can be seen that even when the side surfaces are close to each other, it is possible to prevent one or both of the pair of side surfaces of the adjacent thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces from being transferred to the pressing member.
According to the method for manufacturing a thermoelectric conversion element of the present invention, even when the thermoelectric semiconductor composition piece expands in the width direction by pressing and the pair of facing side surfaces of the adjacent thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces come close to each other. Since it is possible to prevent one or both of the pair of side surfaces of the adjacent thermoelectric semiconductor composition pieces from being transferred to the pressing member, it is expected that the production yield of the thermoelectric conversion element will be improved.
