Abstract
Description
The present disclosure relates to a redox flow battery system.
One of the storage batteries is a redox flow battery. The redox flow battery charges and discharges by supplying an electrolytic solution from the tank to the battery cell. Typically, as described in Patent Document 1, the outbound pipe and the inbound pipe are connected to the battery cell. When the pump provided in the outward pipe is driven, the electrolytic solution is pumped from the tank to the battery cell via the outward pipe, and is returned from the battery cell to the tank via the return pipe. Hereinafter, the redox flow battery described in Patent Document 1 may be referred to as a conventional battery.
In the redox flow battery, it is desired to reduce the power of the above-mentioned pump. Further, a redox flow battery having excellent maintainability is preferable.
In the above-mentioned conventional battery, one end of the outward pipe and one end of the return pipe are connected to the battery cell. The other end of the outbound pipe is connected below the tank. The other end of the return pipe is connected to the upper surface of the tank and is located above the liquid level of the electrolytic solution stored in the tank. In addition, a part of the return pipe is arranged above the upper surface of the tank, and includes the highest point where the electrolytic solution from the tank flows. In such a conventional battery, during normal operation, the pump needs to suck up the electrolytic solution from the liquid level in the tank to the highest point of the return pipe. Therefore, the actual head of the pump is large, and the power of the pump tends to be large.
Therefore, one of the purposes of the present disclosure is to provide a redox flow battery system that can reduce the power of the pump and is also excellent in maintainability.

[Explanation of Embodiments of the present disclosure]
First, embodiments of the present disclosure will be listed and described.
(1) The redox flow battery system according to one aspect of the present disclosure is
It is equipped with a battery cell, a tank, an outward pipe, a return pipe, and a pump.
The pump is provided in the outbound pipe and is provided.
One end of the outward pipe and one end of the return pipe are connected to the battery cell.
The other end of the outward pipe and the other end of the return pipe are arranged so as to be in contact with the electrolytic solution stored in the tank.
In addition, it is equipped with a gas supply mechanism.
The gas supply mechanism causes gas to flow into the return pipe.
Hereinafter, the redox flow battery system of the present disclosure may be referred to as an RF battery system.
The RF battery system of the present disclosure can reduce the power of the pump as compared with the conventional battery described above for the following reasons. In the outward and return pipes, the end on the tank side typically opens into the electrolytic solution in the tank. Therefore, once the outbound pipe and the inbound pipe are filled with the electrolytic solution, the above-mentioned state of being filled with the electrolytic solution is maintained by the siphon phenomenon even if the pump is stopped thereafter. Therefore, the RF battery system of the present disclosure can reduce the lift from the liquid level of the electrolytic solution in the tank to the highest point where the electrolytic solution is circulated in the pump.
Further, the RF battery system of the present disclosure is also excellent in maintainability for the following reasons. During maintenance, if gas flows into the return pipe filled with the electrolytic solution by the gas supply mechanism, both the end of the outward pipe and the end of the return pipe are in contact with the electrolytic solution, but the electrolysis in the return pipe is performed. The liquid is drained. Therefore, it is not necessary to discharge the electrolytic solution in the tank during maintenance.
(2) As an example of the RF battery system of the present disclosure,
The gas supply mechanism includes a communication pipe and an on-off valve provided in the communication pipe.
One end of the communication pipe is connected to the return pipe,
The other end of the communication pipe may be arranged so as to be in contact with the gas phase in the tank.
In the above mode, if the on-off valve is opened, a part of the gas constituting the gas phase in the tank can flow into the return pipe via the communication pipe. Therefore, in the above form, the electrolytic solution in the return pipe can be easily discharged at the time of maintenance or the like. Further, in the above-described embodiment, if the on-off valve is closed, a state in which the outbound pipe and the inbound pipe are filled with the electrolytic solution can be formed. Therefore, the power of the pump may be smaller during normal operation as compared with the above-mentioned conventional battery in which the end of the return pipe is arranged in the gas phase in the tank.
(3) As an example of the RF battery system of the present disclosure,
The battery cell and the pump may be arranged above the tank.
In the above form, the installation area can be reduced in addition to the above effects.
[Details of Embodiments of the present disclosure]
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present disclosure will be specifically described with reference to the drawings as appropriate.
[Embodiment 1]
The RF battery system 1 of the first embodiment will be described with reference to FIG.
(Overview)
The RF battery system 1 of the first embodiment includes a
In particular, in the RF battery system 1 of the first embodiment, the ends of the

<Distribution mechanism>
The RF battery system 1 includes a positive electrode electrolytic solution distribution mechanism 2 and a negative electrode electrolytic
The distribution mechanism 2 includes a
"tank"
The
The
《Outward and return pipes》
The
One end of the
In this example, the other end of the
In this example, the
After constructing the RF battery system 1 so that the end of the
As a configuration for further reducing the power of the
In addition, the
"pump"
The
《Gas supply mechanism》
The gas supply mechanism 4 is for inflowing gas into the
The gas supply mechanism 4 of this example includes a
The
One end of the
The position of the end of the

<Arrangement of each member>
In the RF battery system 1 of this example, the
In this example, the
In this example, the

In addition, known configurations, materials, etc. may be used as the basic configuration, materials, and the like of the constituent members of the RF battery system 1.

(Main effects)
In the RF battery system 1 of the first embodiment, once the inside of the pipe is formed in a liquid-tight state, the inside of the pipe is maintained in the liquid-tight state by the siphon phenomenon regardless of whether the
Further, since the RF battery system 1 of the first embodiment includes the gas supply mechanism 4, the gas is flowed into the
Further, the RF battery system 1 of the first embodiment has the following effects.

The present invention is not limited to these examples, and is indicated by the scope of claims, and is intended to include all modifications within the meaning and scope equivalent to the scope of claims.
For example, in the RF battery system 1 of the above-described first embodiment, the following changes can be made.
(Modification example 1)
The gas supply mechanism 4 includes a gas tank (not shown), a gas pressure adjusting device, and an on-off
The gas tank stores a predetermined gas such as nitrogen gas. In this form, the gas in the gas tank can flow into the
(Modification 2)
One end of the
For example, the
