一方、給湯器1を運転しない状態で換気扇を使用する等して屋内が負圧となると、ダクトから外気が逆流して吸い込まれるが、燃焼排気が流れない排気筒9ではフラップ33が、後翼部49,49が閉側ストッパ41,41に当接する閉塞位置に維持されているため、逆風止め機構30を通過する外気の量が非常に少なくなる。よって、冬季であっても器具内に進入した外気によって凍結するおそれが低減される。

また、閉側ストッパ41は、取付部材31の上端から上方へ突出する凸形状となっているので、フラップ33との接触面積が小さくて済む。よって、燃焼排気に含まれる水分がフラップ33と閉側ストッパ41との間で結露・凍結してフラップ33が閉塞位置で固着するおそれが低減される。
さらに、閉側ストッパ41の凸形状は、曲線状に形成されることで、フラップ33との接触面積がより小さくなると共に、取付作業の際に作業者の手等が引っ掛かったりするおそれがなくなる。

なお、閉側ストッパの形状は上記形態に限らず、前後幅の小さい三角形状や台形状(何れも角はRとするのが望ましい)、半円形状等の他の形状も採用できる。閉側ストッパを左右一対でなく左右に複数ずつ設けてもよい。
フラップの支持形態も、1本の支持軸でなく左右に分割された2本の支持軸で支持させてもよいし、支持軸を用いずに取付部材とフラップとの一方に凸部を、他方に凹部を設けて凹凸同士の嵌合によってフラップを回転可能に支持させても差し支えない。
取付部材の形状も、直線部の端部同士を円弧状部で繋いでリング状に形成したり、直線部をなくしてストッパの形成部分のみを内側(排気筒中心側)へ折曲形成したり等、適宜変更可能である。

前記逆風止め機構は、前記排気筒の内周面に取り付けられた取付部材と、その取付部材に回転可能に支持されて前記排気筒内の排気流路を開閉可能なフラップとを含み、前記フラップは、前記排気流路を閉塞する閉塞位置から燃焼排気の排出側への回転が許容される一方、前記取付部材に設けたストッパにより、前記閉塞位置から気体の逆流側への回転が規制される給湯器であって、
前記ストッパは、前記取付部材の上端に設けられ、前記フラップは、前記閉塞位置で前記ストッパよりも上方となる高さで前記取付部材に支持されて前記ストッパに上方から当接することを特徴とする給湯器。
