Description
The present invention relates to a flexible flat cable and a connection structure.
In recent years, communication speeds of electronic devices such as digital televisions and personal computers have been increased. A flexible flat cable for high speed transmission is used to transmit the signal of the electronic device.
This flexible flat cable for high-speed transmission includes, for example, a plurality of conductors arranged in parallel, an insulating layer covering the other portion while exposing one side surface of the tip portion of these conductors, and one side surface of this insulating layer And a ground layer. Further, the flexible flat cable for high speed transmission includes a shield layer covering a part of the ground layer and an insulating layer continuous to the ground layer. The conductor and the ground layer of the flexible flat cable for high speed transmission are connected to the connector. Specifically, in the flexible flat cable for high-speed transmission, the conductor is connected to the signal terminal of the connector, and the ground layer is connected to the ground terminal of the connector (see JP-A-2010-170933).
Today, demands for smaller and thinner electronic devices are increasing. However, in the connection structure using the conventional connector, since the thickness of the connector is relatively large, the connection portion can not be sufficiently thinned. In addition, when a connector is used, the change in the cross-sectional area of the transmission line at the connection portion becomes large, and the drop in differential impedance tends to be large. Therefore, in the conventional connection structure using a connector, the transmission loss tends to be large.
The present invention has been made based on the above-mentioned circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a flexible flat cable and a connection structure which can be directly connected to an object to be connected and which is excellent in transmission characteristics.

Description of the embodiment of the present invention
First, the embodiments of the present invention will be listed and described.
A flexible flat cable according to an aspect of the present invention includes a plurality of conductors arranged in parallel, a first insulating layer covering a surface on one side of the plurality of conductors, and a surface on the other side of the plurality of conductors A flexible flat cable having a connection region in which the surface on one side of the conductors is exposed at the tip of the plurality of conductors, the flexible flat cable being stacked on the first insulating layer, the connection A ground support laminated on the second insulating layer so as to face the ground layer, and a ground layer having a U-shaped ground connection portion whose ends extend outward in the arrangement direction of the plurality of conductors at the end on the region side Layer, a plurality of first conductive paste portions stacked on the surface on one side of the plurality of conductors in the connection region, and a pair of second portions stacked on the surface on one side of both ends of the ground connection portion Conductive pace And parts, and a shield layer covering a part of the region other than the ground connecting portion of at least the ground layer.
In the flexible flat cable, the shield layer is stacked on the ground layer, and the ground layer has a U-shaped ground connection portion extending outward in the arrangement direction of the plurality of conductors. Thus, the shield layer can be set to the ground potential. Therefore, the said flexible flat cable is excellent in the interruption | blocking property of the electromagnetic noise from the outside, and can be used as a flexible flat cable for high-speed transmission. In the flexible flat cable, the first conductive paste portion is stacked on the surface on one side of the plurality of conductors in the connection region, and the second conductive paste portion is on the surface on one side of both ends of the ground connection portion. Because they are stacked, the plurality of conductors are connected to the other conductors of the connected body by the first conductive paste portion, and the ground connection portion is used as the ground conductor of the connected body by the second conductive paste portion. It can be connected. Therefore, the flexible flat cable can be directly connected to the connected body. In addition, since the flexible flat cable does not require the use of a connector for connection with the connected body, it is easy to suppress the change in the cross-sectional area of the transmission path at the connection portion with the connected body. Therefore, the flexible flat cable is excellent in transmission characteristics.
The shield layer may be cylindrical, and the shield layer may be wound around the ground layer and the outer surface side of the ground support layer. As described above, the shield layer is cylindrical, and the shield layer is wound on the outer surface side of the ground layer and the ground support layer, so that external electromagnetic noise can be easily and reliably blocked. .
The flexible flat cable further includes a reinforcing layer continuously laminated to the second insulating layer continuously with the edge of the ground support layer, and the outer surface of the ground support layer is flush with the outer surface of the reinforcing layer. Good to have. Thus, it further has a reinforcement layer laminated on the second insulating layer continuously to the edge of the ground support layer, and the outer surface of the ground support layer is flush with the outer surface of the reinforcement layer. Thus, changes in differential impedance can be suppressed more reliably.
The thickness ratio of the average thickness of the first conductive paste portion to the average thickness of the plurality of conductors is preferably 0.1 or more and 0.5 or less. Thus, when the thickness ratio of the average thickness of the first conductive paste portion to the average thickness of the plurality of conductors is within the above range, the cross-sectional area of the transmission path at the connection portion with the connected body Change can be suppressed more reliably.
As a ratio with respect to the average space | interval of the average width | variety of said several conductor, 0.5 or more and 1.5 or less are preferable. As described above, when the ratio of the average width of the plurality of conductors to the average interval is within the above range, it is possible to sufficiently suppress the change in differential impedance while arranging the plurality of conductors at a narrow pitch. .
The connection structure according to one aspect of the present invention is disposed outside the arrangement direction of the flexible flat cable, a plurality of other conductors arranged in parallel with the plurality of conductors of the flexible flat cable, and these other conductors. An electrical connection structure with a connected body having a pair of ground conductors, wherein the plurality of other conductors face the plurality of conductors exposed in the connection region, and the pair of ground conductors is the ground connection. The plurality of other conductors are connected in a one-to-one relationship with the plurality of first conductive paste portions, and are disposed in the pair of second conductive paste portions. A pair of ground conductors are connected in a one-to-one relationship.
In the connection structure, the flexible flat cable and the connected body are directly connected without using a connector. Since the said flexible flat cable and a to-be-connected body are directly connected with the said connection structure, it is easy to suppress the change of the cross-sectional area of the transmission line in a connection part. Therefore, the connection structure is excellent in transmission characteristics.
