Description

The present invention relates to a terminal having a terminal insertion space formed in a substantially cylindrical shape by folding side edge sides of a side wall, and more particularly to a terminal having a contact piece in contact with a mating terminal in the terminal insertion space.

Patent Document 1 discloses an example of this type of terminal. This terminal includes a rectangular cylindrical terminal insertion space having a terminal insertion opening into which a mating male terminal is inserted on the front end side. The terminal insertion space is further formed from one surface constituting the terminal insertion space. A pair of elastic contact pieces that protrude toward the front end side, bend toward the opposite cylinder wall, and overlap each other are provided.
Of the pair of elastic contact pieces overlapped with each other, the first elastic contact piece arranged on the side close to the opposing cylindrical wall is inserted when the mating male terminal is inserted into the terminal insertion space. A contact portion that contacts the male terminal is provided. On the other hand, the 2nd elastic contact piece arrange | positioned on the side far from the cylinder wall which opposes can function as a reinforcement part which provides a spring force etc. to a 1st elastic contact piece by overlapping with a 1st elastic contact piece. .

特開2011−154944号JP 2011-154944 A

According to the configuration of Patent Document 1, it is possible to reinforce the spring force of the first elastic contact piece using the second elastic contact piece. Here, the contact with the mating terminal provided on the first elastic contact piece is possible. Since the contact portion to be positioned is positioned closer to the front side in the insertion direction of the male terminal than the support portion supporting the first elastic contact piece, the counterpart terminal is connected to the contact portion in the initial stage of insertion of the counterpart terminal. Therefore, there is a possibility that insertion of the mating terminal may be hindered by this collision. In particular, when the second elastic contact piece that reinforces the first elastic contact piece is provided, this problem becomes more serious because the spring force of the contact portion is strengthened.
The present invention has been made to solve such problems in the prior art, and even when the spring force at the contact portion contacting the mating terminal is reinforced by the reinforcing portion, the mating terminal can be smoothly inserted. It is an object of the present invention to provide a terminal that can be used, a cable-side connector using the terminal, and a cable connector device using the cable-side connector.

In order to solve the above problems, a terminal according to an aspect of the present invention is a terminal having a terminal insertion space into which a mating terminal is inserted from the front toward the back, and the terminal insertion spaces are mutually in the width direction. It is formed in a substantially cylindrical shape by folding the side edges of the first and second side walls that are spaced apart and have a height in the height direction, and is disposed on the side close to the terminal insertion space, On the side edge side of the folded first side wall, a contact piece supported in a cantilever shape while being elastically displaceable in the height direction is provided along the insertion direction of the mating terminal. The side wall of the folded second side wall disposed on the side far from the terminal insertion space is supported in a cantilever shape that reinforces the contact piece in the height direction. Reinforced part is installed along the insertion direction of the mating terminal It is and the contact portion between the mating terminals provided in the contact piece, than the support portion of the contact piece, has a feature in that located on the rear side in the insertion direction.
According to the terminal of this aspect, since the mating terminal can be brought into contact with the contact piece only after the mating terminal is inserted into the terminal insertion space to some extent, the mating terminal can be inserted smoothly. In this configuration, in particular, since the spring force of the contact piece is strengthened by the reinforcing portion and the force required to insert the mating terminal is larger than usual, a greater effect can be obtained.

In the terminal according to the aspect described above, the contact portion of the contact piece is higher in the height direction than the support portion of the contact piece with respect to the inner wall of the terminal insertion space facing the contact piece in the height direction. It is preferable that they are close to each other.
According to this configuration, the mating terminal comes into contact with the contact portion of the contact piece while gradually receiving force, and the mating terminal can be smoothly inserted.

The terminal of the said aspect WHEREIN: It is preferable that the free end of the said contact piece has faced the said reinforcement part in the said height direction.
According to this configuration, since the free end having the weakest strength among the contact pieces can be reinforced by the reinforcing portion, the contact pressure with the mating terminal can be more reliably ensured and the durability of the contact piece can be further increased. It can certainly be improved.

In the terminal of the above aspect, the side edge of the reinforcing part is folded back toward the surface of the reinforcing part opposite to the contact piece, and the side edge of the folded reinforcing part is cantilevered. A lance piece supported on the lance may be formed.
The strength of the reinforcing portion can be increased by folding back the side edge side of the reinforcing portion. Further, by supporting the side edge side of the reinforcing portion in a cantilever shape, the side edge side of the reinforcing portion can be used as a lance piece.

In the terminal of the above aspect, it is preferable that the lance piece has a substantially L shape in a cross section along both the width direction and the height direction.
By making the cross-sectional shape substantially L-shaped, the strength of the lance can be enhanced.

In the terminal according to the aspect described above, the contact piece may include a launching part that is a surface of the contact piece that is launched in the height direction in the vicinity of the support part of the contact piece.
By providing the launching portion, the support force of the contact piece can be adjusted according to the direction and degree of launching, and thereby the spring property of the contact piece can be controlled.

In the terminal of the above aspect, a convex portion that protrudes toward the terminal insertion space in the height direction is provided on the inner wall of the terminal insertion space facing the contact portion of the contact piece in the height direction. Also good.
By providing the convex portion, the insertion distance in the height direction of the mating terminal can be adjusted by the convex portion and the contact piece, and the mating terminal can be reliably positioned at a predetermined position in the terminal insertion space.

In the terminal of the above aspect, the reinforcing portion is supported in a cantilever shape by a supporting portion, and the free end side of the reinforcing portion is located on the back side in the insertion direction with respect to the supporting portion of the reinforcing portion. Is preferred.
Like the contact piece, the reinforcing part is formed as a reinforcing piece, and the reinforcing piece is operated in a state synchronized with the operation of the contact piece by positioning the free end side behind the support part in the insertion direction. Thus, the mating terminal can be inserted smoothly while strengthening the spring force of the contact piece.

Further, the present invention is characterized by a connector having a housing for holding the terminal, and the connector and a mating connector fitted to the connector.

According to the present invention, even when the spring force at the contact portion that contacts the mating terminal is reinforced by the reinforcing portion, the terminal that can smoothly insert the mating terminal, the cable-side connector using the terminal, And the cable connector apparatus using this cable side connector is provided.

Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. For the convenience of explanation, only preferred embodiments are shown, but of course, the present invention is not intended to be limited thereto.

FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of a terminal according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention. Here, the cable terminal 30 is described as an example as an example, but the present invention is not intended to be limited to the cable terminal.

The cable terminal 30 is formed, for example, by punching and bending a single thin metal plate. The cable terminal 30 includes a main body 51, a core wire crimping portion 52, and a jacket crimping portion 53 in this order.

One end of the cable 3 is fixed to the cable terminal 30 by caulking the core wire (not shown) of the cable 3 with the core caulking portion 52 and caulking the outer sheath 3a of the cable 3 with the outer caulking portion 53. Can be done.

2 to 6 show the configuration of the main body 51 in more detail. 2 is a cross-sectional perspective view of the main body 51 taken along line AA of FIG. 1, FIG. 3 is a front view thereof, FIG. 4 is a side view thereof, and FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view taken along line BB of FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line CC of FIG.

The main body 51 has a terminal insertion space 51b into which a mating terminal is inserted. A mating terminal can be inserted into the terminal insertion space 51b along the direction indicated by the arrow “α1” from the front to the back through the terminal insertion port 51a. The terminal insertion space 51b is folded between the side edges of the side walls 31, 41 that are spaced apart from each other in the width direction (arrow "β" direction in the figure) and have a height in the height direction (arrow "γ" direction in the figure). By overlapping, it is formed in a substantially cylindrical shape. The side wall 31 and the side wall 41 are in a state of being connected to each other at the top wall 61 via a substantially perpendicular curved portion. The side wall 31 is provided with a locking hole 35 penetrating in the width direction “β”. Correspondingly, a locking projection 45 is provided on the side wall 41, and the locking projection 45 is locked. By engaging with the hole 35, the side edge 32 of the side wall 31 and the side edge 42 of the side wall 41 are fixed, and the substantially cylindrical body is held. The locking protrusion 45 is disposed on the support portion 42a in the illustrated arrow “α1” direction, and supports the contact piece 42A.

A contact piece 42A is formed along the insertion direction “α” of the mating terminal on the side edge portion 42 of the folded side wall 41, which is disposed closer to the terminal insertion space 51b than the side edge side 32 of the side wall 31. ing. The contact piece 42A is supported in a cantilever shape by the support portion 42a, and can be elastically displaced in the height direction “γ”. On the free end 42e side of the contact piece 42A, a contact portion 42b that can come into contact with a mating terminal inserted into the terminal insertion space 51b is formed.

The contact part 42b is in a state of slightly protruding in the height direction “γ” by being bent into a mountain shape. Thereby, a contact with the other party terminal can be performed more reliably.
Further, the contact portion 42b is positioned on the back side in the insertion direction “α” with respect to the support portion 42a of the contact piece 42A. When the mating terminal is inserted into the terminal insertion space 51b, force may be applied to the mating terminal through the collision of the mating terminal and the contact piece 42A, and smooth insertion may be hindered. Since the mating terminal can be brought into contact with the contact piece 42A while being positioned to some extent in the terminal insertion space 51b and with some momentum in the insertion, the mating terminal can be smoothly moved into the terminal insertion space 51b. Can be inserted into.

In the vicinity of the support portion 42a, a launching portion 42d that launches the surface of the contact piece 42A in the height direction “γ” may be provided. By providing the launch portion 42d, the support force of the contact piece 42A by the support portion 42a can be adjusted according to the direction and degree of launch at the launch portion 42d, and thereby the spring property of the contact piece 42A can be controlled. For example, as shown in the drawing, the support portion 42a may be set to have a large support force by providing the support portion 42a with a launch portion 42d that is punched inward toward the terminal insertion space 51b. In addition, by controlling the shape of the projecting portion 42d to be a substantially rectangular shape in plan view, the spring property can be easily controlled.

The contact piece 42A faces the inner wall 61c of the top wall 61 forming the terminal insertion space 51b in the height direction “γ”. The contact portion 42b of the contact piece 42A is closer to the inner wall 61c in the height direction “γ” than the support portion 42a. According to this configuration, the mating terminal is brought into contact with the contact portion 42b of the contact piece 42A while gradually receiving force, so that the mating terminal can be inserted smoothly.
Further, a convex portion 61b that protrudes toward the terminal insertion space 51b in the height direction “γ” is formed on the inner wall 61c of the terminal insertion space 51b that faces the contact portion 42b of the contact piece 42A in the height direction “γ”. It may be provided. By providing the convex portion 61b, the insertion distance in the height direction “γ” of the mating terminal can be adjusted by the convex portion 61b and the contact piece 42A, and the mating terminal can be surely secured by a predetermined position in the terminal insertion space 51b. Can be positioned. The convex portions 61b are provided at two locations in the width direction “β”, and are provided from the front of the contact portion 42b to the deep position beyond the contact portion 42b in the insertion direction “α”.

The side edge side 32 of the folded side wall 31 that is disposed on the side farther from the terminal insertion space 51b than the side edge portion 42 of the side wall 41 extends along the insertion direction “α” and extends into the terminal insertion space 51b. It is bent inward. A portion 32A of the bent side edge side 32 is positioned on the bottom side of the contact piece 42A and functions as a reinforcing portion that reinforces the contact piece 42A in the height direction “γ”. Unlike the contact piece 42 </ b> A, the reinforcing piece 32 </ b> A is formed not on the side wall 41 but on the side edge side of the side wall 42. By forming the reinforcing piece 32A and the contact piece 42A on the side edge sides of the side walls 31 and 32 thus separated from each other, the reinforcing piece 32A and the contact piece 42A do not substantially affect each other. The work of both can be completely separated. Further, by providing the reinforcing portion 32A, the spring force of the contact piece 42A is strengthened, and the durability of the contact piece 42A is improved. In this way, when the spring force of the contact piece 42A is reinforced by the reinforcing portion 32A, the force received by the counterpart terminal from the contact piece 42A when the counterpart terminal is inserted into the terminal insertion space 51b is before the reinforcement piece 32A is provided. Although it is larger, as described above, the contact portion 42b of the contact piece 42A is positioned on the back side in the insertion direction “α” of the terminal insertion space 51b than the support portion 42a of the contact piece 42A. Even in such a situation, the mating terminal can be smoothly inserted.

The reinforcing portion 32A may be formed as a piece, like the contact piece 42A. The reinforcing piece 32A is supported in a cantilever shape by the support portion 32a and can be elastically displaced in the height direction “γ”. The free end 32e side of the reinforcing piece 32A is positioned on the back side in the insertion direction “α” with respect to the support portion 32a, like the contact piece 42A. Thus, by supporting the reinforcing piece 32A in the same manner as the contact piece 42A, the reinforcing piece 32A can be operated in synchronization with the operation of the contact piece 42A, and the spring force of the contact piece 42A is strengthened. However, the mating terminal can be inserted smoothly.

It is preferable that the free end 32e side of the reinforcing piece 32A has a length that reaches the free end 42e of the contact piece 42A in the insertion direction “α”. In this case, the free end 42e of the contact piece 42A faces the reinforcing piece 32A in the height direction “γ”. As a result, the free end 42e having the weakest strength in the contact piece 42A is replaced with the contact portion 42A. The reinforcing piece 32A can be reinforced from the side of the bottom surface 42f opposite to 42b, and the contact pressure with the mating terminal can be ensured more reliably and the durability of the contact piece can be improved more reliably.

The side edge 33 of the reinforcing piece 32A may be folded back toward the surface of the reinforcing portion 32A opposite to the contact piece 42A. By providing such a folded portion, the strength of the reinforcing piece 32A can be increased.

The folded side edge 33 can also be used as a lance piece. When used as a lance piece, the folded side edge 33 is supported in the form of a cantilever by a support portion 33a on the front side in the insertion direction “α”, like the contact piece 42A and the reinforcing piece 32A. Elastic displacement is possible in the height direction “γ”. The lance piece 33b may have a cross-sectional “β-γ” shape along both the width direction “β” and the height direction “γ”, for example, a substantially L shape. By setting it as such a shape, the intensity | strength of a lance can be raised.

The operation of the terminal 30 of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. These drawings are cross-sectional views corresponding to FIG. 5, and are diagrams illustrating the operation of the terminal 30 when the mating terminal 7 is inserted into the terminal 30 in a stepwise manner. In order to facilitate the insertion of the mating terminal 7 into the terminal insertion space 51b, the tip of the mating terminal 7 is tapered.

As shown in FIG. 7A, before the mating terminal 7 is inserted into the terminal insertion space 51b, the contact piece 42A is in contact with the reinforcing piece 32A at the bent portion 42c. On the free end 42e side, the gap is formed slightly apart from the reinforcing piece 32A in the height direction “γ”.
FIG. 7B is a partially enlarged view of the vicinity of the collision portion between the contact piece 42A and the reinforcing piece 32A. As shown in this figure, when a gap is formed between the bottom surface 42f of the contact piece 42A and the upper surface 32b of the reinforcing piece 32A, the contact piece 42A is contacted when displaced to the reinforcing piece 32A side. The elastic force (reaction force) of only the contact piece 42A is applied to the mating terminal 7 until the piece 42A contacts (collises) the reinforcing piece 32A (initial stage of contact). Then, after the contact piece 42A comes into contact (collision) with the reinforcing piece 32A, in addition to the elastic force (reaction force) of the contact piece 42A, the elastic force (reaction force) of the reinforcement piece 32A is also applied. The elastic force (reaction force) of the piece is applied to the mating terminal 7. Accordingly, at the initial stage of contact, the mating terminal 7 can be inserted into the terminal 30 with a small insertion force, and after the insertion, the contact state between the contact piece 42A and the mating terminal 7 is ensured by the elastic force (reaction force) of the two pieces. For example, there is no problem such as instantaneous disconnection between the mating terminal 7 and the terminal 30 even under a condition where vibration is applied.
Further, the contact piece 42A is displaced toward the reinforcing piece 32A by setting the size of the gap m formed on the free end 42e side to be slightly smaller than the size of the gap n formed on the contact portion 42b side. In this case, the free end 42e side is surely brought into contact with the reinforcing piece 32A first, that is, the contact position between the contact piece 42A and the reinforcing piece 32A in the direction “α” can be controlled to substantially the same position. The elastic force (reaction force) of the piece 32A can be controlled. Further, by setting the sizes of the gaps m and n to be smaller than the plate thickness of the contact piece 42A or the reinforcing piece 32A, the gap can be brought into contact with the reinforcing piece 32A before excessive displacement occurs in the contact piece 42A. it can. The size and position of the gaps m and n can be controlled by adjusting the bending angle and position.

As shown in FIG. 8, when the mating terminal 7 is inserted into the terminal insertion space 51b, the mating terminal 7 is gradually positioned toward the contact piece 42A by the convex portion 61b provided on the inner wall 61c of the terminal insertion space 51b. The contact piece 42A, in particular, the contact portion 42b provided in the vicinity of the free end 42e of the contact piece 42A, and the convex portion 61b are inserted.

When the mating terminal 7 is further inserted into the terminal insertion space 51b and the mating terminal 7 comes into contact with the contact piece 42A, as shown in FIG. 9, the free end 42e side of the contact piece 42A is a contact point with the reinforcing piece 32A. The bending portion 42c is used as a fulcrum to displace toward the reinforcing piece 32A. As a result, the contact piece 42A collides with the upper surface 32b of the reinforcing piece 32A on the bottom surface 42f on the free end 42e side, and the free end 42e side is supported by the reinforcing piece 32A. Since the reinforcing piece 32A is provided so as to be elastically displaceable like the contact piece 42A, after the contact piece 42A collides with the reinforcing piece 32A, the reinforcing piece 32A is displaced in synchronization with the contact piece 42A, and thereby the contact piece 42A. The mating terminal 7 can be smoothly inserted while applying a spring force (reaction force) to.

FIG. 10 shows a perspective view of a connector 20 according to one preferred embodiment of the present invention using the preferred cable terminal 30 of the present invention shown in FIGS. 1 to 9, and the present invention using this connector 20. The perspective view of the connector apparatus 1 by one preferable embodiment of this is shown, Furthermore, the centerline sectional drawing of the connector 20 is shown in FIG.

As an example of the connector 20, a cable connector will be described as an example here, but the present invention is not limited to the cable connector 20. Similarly, as an example of the connector device 1, here, a cable connector device will be described as an example, but the present invention is not limited to the cable connector device 1.

The cable connector 20 mainly includes a housing 21 and a plurality of cable terminals 30 arranged inside the housing 21.

When the cable terminal 30 is attached to the housing 21, the cable terminal 30 is inserted into the terminal holding hole 22 c of the housing 21 in the illustrated arrow “α2” direction from the back toward the front along the insertion direction “α”. The cable terminal 30 is formed with an elastically displaceable lance piece 33b using the side edge 33 of the reinforcing portion 32A. When the cable terminal 30 is inserted into the terminal holding hole 22c, the lance piece 33b is The elastic member is used to get over the stepped portion 24 provided on the inner wall of the bottom of the terminal holding hole 22c and fit into the stepped portion 24 in contact with the front surface 24a. Thereafter, the cable terminal 30 can be fixed at a predetermined position of the housing 21 by attaching the retainer 4 to the housing 21 so as to be inserted into the notch 54 provided on the side surface of the cable terminal 30. When fixed at a predetermined position of the housing 21, the terminal insertion port 51a of the cable terminal 30 is aligned with the terminal insertion port 22b of the housing 21 to form a communication port into which the mating terminal is inserted.

The cable connector device 1 includes a set of a cable connector 20 and a board connector 10. However, as is clear from the above description, the present invention is not limited to the set of the cable connector 20 and the board connector 10, and can be applied to various connectors. For example, it may be a set of board connectors or a set of cable connectors.

The board connector 10 mainly includes a housing 11 and terminals 7 arranged inside the housing 11. The housing 11 is fixed to the substrate 2 by using mounting hardware 12 embedded in the housing 11.

A fitting port 11 a for fitting the cable connector 20 is provided on the front surface of the housing 11. When the cable connector 20 is inserted into the board connector 10 through the fitting port 11a, the mating terminal 7 of the board connector 10 is connected to the cable terminal 30 through the communication port of the terminal insertion port 51a of the cable connector 20 and the terminal insertion port 22b of the housing 21. The mating terminal 7 and the cable terminal 30 are electrically connected to each other. At this time, the lock protrusion 22 a provided on the housing 21 of the cable connector 20 fits into the lock hole 11 b provided on the housing 11 of the board connector 10, and the cable connector 20 is locked to the board connector 10.
