Description

The present invention relates to a female terminal.

In general, a female terminal includes a cylindrical portion into which a male terminal can be inserted and a connection portion that can be connected to an external circuit such as an electric wire. For example, the female terminal disclosed in Japanese Patent No. 4678341 (the following Patent Document 1) includes a cylindrical portion into which a tab-shaped male terminal can be inserted, a leaf spring-like contact piece disposed inside the cylindrical portion, And a connection portion with the electric wire. In this female terminal, the contact piece is curved in a U-shape, and when the male terminal is inserted into the tubular portion, the male terminal is sandwiched between the tubular portion and the apex portion of the curved contact piece, The male terminal and the female terminal are electrically connected.

Japanese Patent No. 4678341

In the female terminal described in Japanese Patent No. 4678341 (the above-mentioned Patent Document 1), the male terminal sandwiched between the contact piece and the cylindrical portion is less likely to vibrate in the direction (vertical direction) sandwiched between the contact piece and the cylindrical portion. However, no countermeasure is taken against vibration in the direction intersecting the vertical direction (lateral direction, that is, the spreading direction of the surface of the tab-shaped male terminal). Therefore, when the male terminal is displaced in the lateral direction, the contact portion may slide, and the contact may be worn.

The female terminal disclosed in the present specification is provided with an insertion opening at one end, a terminal insertion portion into which a flat male terminal can be inserted from the insertion opening, and the terminal insertion portion disposed inside the terminal insertion portion. A leaf spring-like elastic contact piece that sandwiches the male terminal with the inner wall of the portion, and a bead portion projecting inward from the side surface of the terminal insertion portion in a direction orthogonal to the bending direction of the elastic contact piece And a sandwiching piece that sandwiches the male terminal with the bead portion by elastically contacting the side surface of the male terminal so as to face the bead portion.

According to such a configuration, the male terminal is sandwiched between the bead portion and the sandwiching piece not only in the bending direction of the elastic contact piece but also in the direction orthogonal to the bending direction, so that a shift due to vibration of the male terminal can be suppressed.

As an embodiment of the female terminal disclosed in this specification, the following configuration may be adopted.
The elastic contact piece may be separate from the material constituting the wall portion of the terminal insertion portion, and the sandwiching piece may be integrated with the elastic contact piece.

In such a configuration, the elastic contact piece and the sandwiching piece can be made of a material different from that of the terminal insertion portion and a different thickness. Moreover, since the elastic contact piece and the sandwiching piece are integrated, the sandwiching piece can be incorporated together when the elastic contact piece is incorporated into the terminal insertion portion.

It is good also as a structure by which the contact part extended in the insertion direction of the said male terminal is protrudingly provided in the side surface facing the said elastic contact piece of the said terminal insertion part.

In such a configuration, the contact between the male terminal and the female terminal becomes a contact portion and a bead portion, and the number of contacts increases.

According to the female terminal disclosed in this specification, it is possible to suppress the male terminal from vibrating in the width direction.

The convex portion 58 of the sandwiching piece 57 is disposed within the dimension in the front-rear direction of the bead portion 31, and is located behind the lower end portion 53 </ b> A of the elastic contact piece 53. And the dimension between the convex part 58 of the pinching piece 57 and the bead part 31 is smaller than the external dimension of the width direction of the tab part 81 which the male terminal 80 mentions later in a natural state.

As shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, a protective piece 65 is provided at the front end edge of the lower end portion of the left side wall portion 55A. The protective piece 65 is formed so as to protrude forward from the front edge of the left side wall portion 55A by a thickness and then bend at a right angle, and further bent at a right angle and folded back. The protective piece 65 is provided to prevent the male terminal 80 from coming into contact with the end of the return piece 59. The protective piece 65 protrudes inward to the same position as the position in the width direction of the end of the return piece 59. The vertical dimension of the protective piece 65 is slightly larger than the vertical dimension of the sandwiching piece 57 and the return piece 59. The vertical position of the return piece 59 is substantially the same as the vertical position of the sandwiching piece 57.

The male terminal 80 is formed by pressing a relatively thick conductive plate corresponding to a thick electric wire for large current. The rear part of the male terminal 80 is connected to a wire (not shown), and the front part is a flat tab part 81 as shown in FIGS. Further, on the front side of the tab portion 81 of the male terminal 80, a contact portion 83 that protrudes outward in the width direction and contacts the positioning piece 63 and the protective piece 65 is provided. The contact portion 83 is larger in the width direction than the tab portion 81 and larger than the inner dimension in the width direction of the insertion port 23 </ b> A of the terminal insertion portion 23. And since the contact part 83 contact | abuts to the positioning piece 63 and the protection piece 65, the male terminal 80 is no longer inserted back.

Next, an example of the assembly procedure of the female terminal 10 and the connection procedure with the male terminal 80 will be described.
First, the spring member 50 is punched out by press working, and is bent as shown in FIG. At this time, since the sandwiched piece 57 extends in the same rear as the elastic contact piece 53, the unfolded spring member 50 can suppress material loss when punching, and the yield is improved.

Then, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the bent spring member 50 is disposed in the terminal insertion portion 23. Specifically, the spring member 50 is arranged inside the terminal insertion portion 23 in the unfolded state, and the terminal insertion portion 23 is molded by bending in the width direction from that state. As the side surface portion 27 of the terminal insertion portion 23 rises, the locking piece 61 of the spring member 50 enters the locking hole 33 of the terminal insertion portion 23. And the locking piece 61 is positioned by the hole edge of the locking hole 33, and is positioned in the front-back direction and the up-down direction. Further, since the positioning piece 63 contacts the front surface of the side surface portion 27 of the terminal insertion portion 23, the spring member 50 is prevented from shifting backward. Then, the over-deflection preventing piece 37 is arranged above the lower end portion 53 </ b> A of the elastic contact piece 53 by bending the opposing portion 29 and bending the over-deflection preventing piece 37. Thus, the spring member 50 is positioned and held in the terminal insertion portion 23, and the female terminal 10 is assembled.

Next, the male terminal 80 is inserted into the female terminal 10. The male member 80 is inserted from the insertion port 23A of the terminal insertion portion 23 in a state where the spring member 50 is disposed in the terminal insertion portion 23 and the elastic contact piece 53 and the sandwiching piece 57 are in a natural state. As shown in FIGS. 8 and 9, when the male terminal 80 is inserted, the front end portion of the tab portion 81 of the male terminal 80 comes into elastic contact with the lower end portion 53 </ b> A of the elastic contact piece 53. Push up to bend and deform. Then, the tab portion 81 of the male terminal 80 is sandwiched between the elastic contact piece 53 and the contact portion 25.

When the male terminal 80 is further advanced, the left side surface of the tab portion 81 of the male terminal 80 comes into contact with the convex portion 58 of the sandwiching piece 57, and the sandwiching piece 57 is bent and deformed outward in the width direction. At the same time, the bead portion 31 comes into contact with the right side surface of the tab portion 81 of the male terminal 80, so that the male terminal 80 is also sandwiched between the sandwiching piece 57 and the bead portion 31 in the width direction. Even if the male terminal 80 is inserted to the left side of the insertion port 23 </ b> A, the protective piece 65 protects the sandwiching piece 57, so that the tip of the tab portion 81 of the male terminal 80 hits the return piece 59. Crushing of the sandwiching pieces 57 from the front can be suppressed. Further, the convex portion 58 of the sandwiching piece 57 is located behind the lower end portion 53A of the elastic contact piece 53, the timing at which the male terminal 80 bends and deforms the elastic contact piece 53, and the convex portion 58 of the sandwiching piece 57 is provided. Since the timing of bending deformation is shifted, the insertion force of the male terminal 80 can be suppressed.

When the male terminal 80 is further inserted rearward, the contact portion 83 contacts the positioning piece 63 and the protection piece 65, and the insertion is stopped. Then, the positioning piece 63 is sandwiched between the front surfaces of the contact portion 83 and the side surface portion 27.

In this manner, the tab portion 81 of the male terminal 80 is pressed downward (contact point 25 side) by the elastic contact piece 53, so that the contact between the male terminal 80 and the contact portion 25 is ensured, and the male terminal 80 and The female terminal 10 is electrically connected. Further, since the male terminal 80 is sandwiched between the elastic contact piece 53 and the contact portion 25, the male terminal 80 is suppressed from moving in the vertical direction. On the other hand, when the male terminal 80 is pressed to the right side (bead part 31 side) by the sandwiching piece 57, the contact between the male terminal 80 and the bead part 31 is ensured, and the number of contacts to be electrically connected increases. Further, the male terminal 80 is suppressed from moving in the width direction by being sandwiched between the sandwiching piece 57 and the bead portion 31.

As described above, in the present embodiment, the male terminal 80 is sandwiched by the bead portion 31 and the sandwiching piece 57 not only in the bending direction of the elastic contact piece 53 but also in the direction orthogonal to the bending direction. Deviation can be suppressed.

<Embodiment 2>
Next, Embodiment 2 will be described with reference to FIGS.
In the female terminal 110 of the second embodiment, the shape of the spring member 150 is different from that of the first embodiment. In addition, about the member and site | part which have the same function as Embodiment 1, description is abbreviate | omitted or simplified by attaching | subjecting the same code | symbol. The vertical direction is the same as that in the first embodiment.

As shown in FIG. 10, the female terminal 110 includes a terminal main body 20 and a spring member 150 that is separate from the terminal main body 20. The female terminal 110 is connected to the male terminal 80.

The spring member 150 is made of a material having excellent strength, such as stainless steel, and is thinner than the terminal main body 20. The spring member 150 includes a spring body 51, an elastic contact piece 153, a pair of side wall portions 55, and a sandwiching piece 157 extending from the end of the left side wall portion 55A. The spring member 150 is provided with a locking piece 61 and a positioning piece 63.

As shown in FIGS. 13 and 15, the elastic contact piece 153 is provided at a central position in the width direction of the spring body 51 and is a strip-shaped plate spring that can be elastically deformed in the vertical direction. The dimension of the elastic contact piece 153 in the width direction is narrower than the dimension of the spring body 51 in the width direction, and is narrower than the dimension of the male terminal 80 (see FIG. 18) in the width direction. Note that the width dimension of the elastic contact piece 153 is slightly larger than the width dimension of the elastic contact piece 53 of the first embodiment.

As shown in FIGS. 14 and 18, the sandwiching piece 157 is formed by a piece folded back from the front end edge of the lower end portion of the left side wall portion 55 </ b> A entering the inside. The sandwiching piece 157 can be bent and deformed in the width direction. A convex portion 158 that protrudes in a U shape toward the inner side in the width direction (side close to the male terminal 80) is provided at the innermost portion of the sandwiching piece 157. The vertical dimension of the sandwiching piece 157 is approximately half of the vertical dimension of the side wall 55 and is approximately the same as the vertical dimension of the male terminal 80. The vertical position of the sandwiching piece 157 in the terminal insertion portion 23 is substantially the same as the vertical position of the bead portion 31. The convex portion 158 of the sandwiching piece 157 is arranged within the dimension in the front-rear direction of the bead portion 31 and is located behind the lower end portion 153A of the elastic contact piece 153. And the dimension between the convex part 158 of the pinching piece 157 and the bead part 31 is smaller than the external dimension of the width direction of the tab part 81 which the male terminal 80 mentions later in a natural state.

Next, an example of the assembly procedure of the female terminal 110 and the connection procedure with the male terminal 80 will be described.
First, the spring member 150 is punched out by press working, and is bent as shown in FIG. At this time, the unfolded spring member 150 has the sandwiching piece 157 extending in a direction (forward) different from the extending direction of the elastic contact piece 53. Therefore, since the width dimension of the elastic contact piece 153 can be determined regardless of the size of the sandwiching piece 157, the width dimension of the elastic contact piece 153 can be increased, and the elastic force of the elastic contact piece 153 is larger than that of the first embodiment. Can be improved.

Then, as shown in FIGS. 10 and 11, the bent spring member 150 is disposed in the terminal insertion portion 23. As in the first embodiment, the spring member 150 is positioned and held in the terminal insertion portion 23, and the female terminal 110 is assembled.

Next, the male terminal 80 is inserted into the female terminal 110. The spring member 150 is disposed in the terminal insertion portion 23, and the male terminal 80 is inserted from the insertion port 23A of the terminal insertion portion 23 in a state where the elastic contact piece 53 and the sandwiching piece 57 are in a natural state. 17 and 18, when the male terminal 80 is inserted, the front end portion of the tab portion 81 of the male terminal 80 is in elastic contact with the lower end portion 153A of the elastic contact piece 153, and the elastic contact piece 153 is moved. Push up to bend and deform. The tab portion 81 of the male terminal 80 is sandwiched between the elastic contact piece 153 and the contact portion 25.

When the male terminal 80 is further advanced, the left side surface of the tab portion 81 of the male terminal 80 comes into contact with the convex portion 158 of the sandwiching piece 157, and the sandwiching piece 157 is bent and deformed outward in the width direction. At the same time, the tab portion 81 of the male terminal 80 is sandwiched between the elastic contact piece 153 and the contact portion 25. Further, the bead portion 31 is in contact with the right side surface of the tab portion 81 of the male terminal 80, so that the male terminal 80 is also sandwiched between the sandwiching piece 157 and the bead portion 31 in the width direction. Note that the convex portion 158 of the sandwiching piece 157 is located behind the lower end portion 153A of the elastic contact piece 153, the timing at which the male terminal 80 bends and deforms the elastic contact piece 153, and the convex portion 58 of the sandwiching piece 57. Since the timing of bending deformation is shifted, the insertion force of the male terminal 80 can be suppressed.

When the male terminal 80 is further inserted rearward, the contact portion 83 contacts the positioning piece 63 and the insertion is stopped. Then, the positioning piece 63 is sandwiched between the front surfaces of the contact portion 83 and the side surface portion 27.

In this manner, the tab portion 81 of the male terminal 80 is pressed downward (contact point 25 side) by the elastic contact piece 153, so that the contact between the male terminal 80 and the contact portion 25 is ensured, and the male terminal 80 and The female terminal 10 is electrically connected. Further, since the male terminal 80 is sandwiched between the elastic contact piece 153 and the contact portion 25, the male terminal 80 is suppressed from moving in the vertical direction. On the other hand, when the male terminal 80 is pressed to the right side (bead part 31 side) by the sandwiching piece 157, the contact between the male terminal 80 and the bead part 31 is ensured, and the number of contacts to be electrically connected increases. Further, the male terminal 80 is suppressed from moving in the width direction by being sandwiched between the sandwiching piece 157 and the bead portion 31.
