In the present embodiment, the stepping motor 3 is a power source during the AF operation. The stepping motor 3 is a small motor provided so that an output shaft extends in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis OA, and the output shaft rotates around the axis. A drive signal is input to the stepping motor 3 via a wiring member (not shown).
The stepping motor 3 is an electric motor that receives an electric pulse signal as a drive signal and generates a mechanically intermittent step operation in synchronization with the electric pulse signal. Based on the electrical pulse signal, the output shaft rotates intermittently. The output shaft rotates at a rotation speed based on the frequency of the input pulse and at a rotation angle based on the number of input pulses.

In constructing a self-locking mechanism for the worm gear 4, the thrust movement of the worm gear 4 during forward and reverse rotation is prevented, and the advance angle of the worm gear 4 is prevented from becoming larger than the friction angle.
In particular, care must be taken when a multi-row worm gear 4 is used. As a method for this, the tip of the worm gear 4 may be biased by a biasing leaf spring.

As a result, the focus lens group holding frame 123 (focus lens group FL) can be moved in the direction of the optical axis OA.
