Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a fuel supply device including a low pressure pump and a high pressure pump.
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a fuel supply device that includes a low-pressure pump, a high-pressure pump, and an injector and supplies fuel to an engine is known (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
In this fuel supply device, a throttle element is provided in the middle of a low-pressure pipe connecting a low-pressure pump and a high-pressure pump in series. Thereby, the pressure pulsation of the fuel on the low pressure side caused by the suction operation and the discharge operation of the high pressure pump is reduced.
By the way, the limit of the throttle amount in the throttle element that reduces the pressure pulsation of the fuel is determined by the required fuel supply amount to the high pressure pump and the discharge performance of the low pressure pump.
For this reason, if the throttle amount in the throttle element is made larger than the current state for the purpose of improving the pulsation reduction effect, the pressure loss of the fuel passing through the low-pressure pipe increases. As a result, a high-performance low-pressure pump in which the discharge pressure is increased from the current level is required.
In addition, when a high-performance low-pressure pump is used, it is necessary to ensure high sealing performance in the connection portion between the low-pressure pump and the low-pressure pipe and in the low-pressure pipe. Moreover, it is necessary to ensure the piping strength that can withstand high fuel pressure in the low-pressure piping.
Therefore, there is a problem that the degree of freedom in design for increasing the sealing performance of the connecting portion of the low-pressure pump and the low-pressure pipe or the low-pressure pipe or increasing the strength of the low-pressure pipe is low.
On the contrary, if the throttle amount in the throttle element is made smaller than the current state, there is a problem that the pressure pulsation of the fuel in the low pressure pipe cannot be reduced.
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and its object is to reduce the pressure pulsation of the fuel in the low-pressure pipe that has a high degree of freedom in designing the sealing performance and the pipe strength and that is caused by the operation of the high-pressure pump. It is an object of the present invention to provide a fuel supply device that can handle the above-described problem.
According to the first aspect of the present invention, when the fuel pressure in the internal passage of the high pressure pump is in a low pressure state lower than the fuel pressure in the fuel passage on the low pressure pipe side, the valve element reduces the passage area of the communication passage. By setting the maximum value, the pressure loss of the fuel flowing from the low pressure pump to the high pressure pump can be reduced. This eliminates the need for high performance of the low pressure pump. Further, since it is not necessary to improve the discharge performance of the low pressure pump, it is not necessary to improve the sealing performance at the connection portion between the low pressure pump and the low pressure pipe, and it is not necessary to increase the pipe strength of the low pressure pipe.
On the other hand, when the fuel pressure in the internal passage of the high-pressure pump is higher than the fuel pressure in the fuel passage on the low-pressure piping side, the low pressure generated by the operation of the high-pressure pump is achieved by minimizing the passage area of the communication passage. The pressure pulsation of the fuel in the piping can be reduced.
Therefore, the degree of freedom in designing sealability and pipe strength is high, and the pressure pulsation of fuel in the low-pressure pipe can be reduced with a simple structure.
The low-pressure state is formed when fuel is supplied from the low-pressure pump to the high-pressure pump, or when the fuel flows in the forward direction from the fuel passage on the low-pressure piping side toward the internal passage of the high-pressure pump. The high-pressure state is formed when the fuel pressure pulsation propagates from the high-pressure pump to the low-pressure pipe or when the fuel flows in the reverse direction from the internal passage of the high-pressure pump toward the fuel passage on the low-pressure pipe side.

Here, in the
The

[Effect of Embodiment 1]
As described above, in the
This eliminates the need for high performance of the low pressure pump 3. Further, since it is not necessary to improve the discharge performance of the low-pressure pump 3, it is not necessary to improve the sealing performance at the connection portion between the low-pressure pump 3 and the low-
On the other hand, when the pressure pulsation of the fuel propagates from the
Therefore, the degree of freedom in designing sealability and pipe strength is high, and the pressure pulsation of fuel in the low-

[Experimental Results of Embodiment 1]
Here, when the
Next, an experiment for examining how the pressure damping coefficient changes with various changes in Ac / Ap will be described. In this experiment, Ac / Ap was changed and the pressure decay coefficient was investigated, and the experimental result is shown in the graph of FIG.
In FIG. 4, the vertical axis represents the pressure attenuation coefficient, and the horizontal axis represents Ac / Ap.
As can be confirmed from the graph of FIG. 4, it can be seen that the pressure attenuation coefficient tends to improve as Ac / Ap increases.
Therefore, as the passage area of the communication holes 22 other than some of the communication holes 21 and 23 is reduced, the pressure attenuation coefficient is increased, so that the effect of the reverse passage area restriction is improved.

FIG. 13 shows a seventh embodiment to which the present invention is applied.
Here, the same reference numerals as those in the first to sixth embodiments indicate the same configuration or function, and a description thereof will be omitted.
According to the
