Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a print control apparatus, a print setting method for the print control apparatus, and a program.
On-demand printing has become popular at production sites due to improvements in printing technology through digitization of image forming devices and order-receiving methods. In on-demand printing, there is a Web submission format in which an end user inputs the form of a desired product through a Web site.
Here, in order to print a wide variety of deliverables, there are many setting items that the printer needs to input in the prepress work before printing. However, in order to allow an end user to input information necessary for prepress in Web submission, advanced knowledge is required or a large number of requested items must be input.
In recent years, in the technology relating to prepress, there is a prepress apparatus using a template included in the function of prepress software. Prepress software often has a function called a template that pre-sets work related to prepress as a macro. With the same form of deliverable, even if the contents are different, by using the same template, the operator can perform the prepress work without mistake. For a wide variety of deliverables, a plurality of templates must be prepared, which remains a problem. Therefore, Patent Document 1 discloses a method capable of automatically generating templates without creating templates for the types of deliverables.
However, although the prior art can reduce the number of templates to be managed, there is still a problem that there are many items that the user has to input. In particular, in the form of web submission, information for setting the prepress is performed by the end user, and it is difficult for the end user to input various setting items.
In addition, in web submission, since input is performed through a web browser, it is difficult to use the same advanced preview or input assist function as prepress software.
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to perform printing that complements items that cannot be specified by print settings input by the user and creates a print product requested by the user. To provide a mechanism that can create a template adapted to the workflow.
The print control apparatus of the present invention that achieves the above object has the following configuration.
A print control apparatus that acquires ticket information from a management apparatus and creates a predetermined template to be input to a printing apparatus or processing apparatus, and a specific process to be executed on a sheet printed on the ticket information is set Determination means for determining whether or not a specific process is set, and first description means for describing, in the predetermined template, a first print control parameter specified from the ticket information. Creating means for creating, based on the first print control parameter, a second print control parameter for specifying an attribute value of paper information not specified from the ticket information in order to execute the specific process; And second description means for describing the second print control parameter set in the template.
According to the present invention, it is possible to create a template adapted to a print workflow for creating a print product requested by a user by complementing items that cannot be specified by print settings input by the user.

Here, the input items are limited so that even a user who is not familiar with the prepress at the printing shop can input.

The user inputs the Web site information or registers in advance in the order management server, and the user information is called up at the time of login and described in the ticket.
In the example of FIG. 4, only the standard size name can be specified as the finished size, but the order management server outputs a millimeter value associated with the standard size. In the present embodiment, it is possible to apply both size name notation and millimeter notation. Instead of millimeters, other units such as inches and points may be used. A
In the example of FIG. 4, the UI is such that the paper type name is selected for the sake of simplicity for the user, but the order management server outputs the basis weight value associated with the paper type name. .

In the macro 1006 for instructing folding, “Zfold” indicating Z-folding and “420, 297” millimeters of the paper size are described as arguments. The pre-press software function of Z-folding only the paper of the specified paper size is used. Depending on the function of the prepress software, there is a function that Z-folds only vertically or horizontally placed paper. In that case, the direction of the paper such as “Landscape” or “Portrait” is used as an argument. Sometimes what is shown is described. The present invention can be applied even if there is a difference in the Z-fold instruction method.

FIG. 11A and FIG. 11B are flowcharts for explaining a control method of the printing system according to the present embodiment. This example is a process example of creating the template of FIG. 10 from the JDF generated by the Web site of FIG. 9, and is a process performed by the paper
First, the paper
On the other hand, if the paper
If the folding type includes three-fold and four-fold, the paper size may be determined as three times or four times.
After determining the paper size, the paper
Then, the paper
On the other hand, if the paper
After specifying the paper to be applied to the entire document file, the folding setting including the Z-folding setting and the specification of the paper to be Z-folded is described in the macro (S1110), and the process is terminated. To do.

Here, the method of detecting the page number of the sheet to be Z-folded is a function of prepress software in which a Z-fold instruction is given to the entire document and a Z-folded page is selected as in the macro shown in FIG. There is a method of using. Further, there is a method of directly scanning the PDF and detecting the number of pages corresponding to the Z-fold paper size determined by the processing of FIG. 11B, but any method may be used.
