Abstract
Description
TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to a zigzag folded laminate structure excellent in safety in a laminated structure of a secondary battery, and a battery module comprising the zigzag folded laminate structure.
In recent years, there has been a demand for higher energy density for secondary batteries used in electronic devices such as mobile phones and notebook personal computers and in-vehicle power supplies. From this viewpoint, lithium secondary batteries capable of increasing the energy density are widely used. A lithium secondary battery includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator interposed therebetween, and a nonaqueous electrolyte.
In general, when a short circuit having a relatively low resistance value occurs inside the battery, a large current flows in a concentrated manner at the short-circuit point, so that the heat generation of the battery may accelerate and lead to overheating. In a lithium secondary battery having a high energy density, in order to avoid such a phenomenon, various safety measures are taken from the viewpoint of the battery configuration in addition to the viewpoint of manufacturing.
As one of them, a separator having a shutdown function for blocking pores due to heat generated when a battery causes an internal short circuit and blocking ion exchange is generally used. This is because heat generation stops because the short-circuit current does not flow due to the shutdown function.
However, even if these techniques are safety measures, if the heat generation in the short-circuited portion is large, there is a possibility that the separator is melted before the shutdown function to cause meltdown that opens a large hole in the separator. When the positive electrode and the negative electrode are short-circuited due to meltdown, further overheating is caused. In some cases, the battery ignites or smokes, which is very dangerous.
For example, an unexpected situation such as a nail or other conductive material sticking into the exterior body and penetrating the battery cannot occur at first, but is an abnormal situation that can theoretically occur. In such an abnormal situation, the nail that is integrated with the negative electrode in the battery is short-circuited with the positive electrode. At this time, there is no problem as long as the battery is not charged, but in the charged state, the characteristics of the lithium secondary battery such as high capacity and high voltage are negative factors from the viewpoint of maintaining safety. Become.
That is, in the lithium secondary battery, the positive electrode active material is composed of a composite oxide of lithium and a transition metal or lithium, a transition metal, and a non-transition metal such as LiCoO2. Since such an active material is a metal oxide, it has a relatively high resistance value, and its temperature is likely to rise due to passage of a short-circuit current. Further, the positive electrode active material at the time of charging is in an unstable state in which lithium is ionized and released to some extent. Therefore, the positive electrode active material decomposes with its own temperature rise to generate oxygen, and the oxygen and the electrolyte solution composed of the aluminum foil coated with the positive electrode active material or the organic solvent may react violently to cause a rapid temperature rise. It is necessary to consider this.
Or, when a conductor such as a nail pierces the exterior body, an electrolyte made of an organic solvent in the battery spouts out, and the electrolyte in contact with oxygen in the outside air causes a rapid temperature rise due to a short circuit It is necessary to consider the risk of fire from surrounding heat.
Therefore, there is no limit to the efforts to improve the safety of lithium secondary batteries, and even in the case of abnormal situations as described above, it is possible to suppress an excessive rise in battery temperature due to an internal short circuit. Development of an excellent secondary battery is desired.
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and its purpose is to be able to suppress excessive temperature rise of the battery even when a large foreign object such as a nail is stuck and an internal short circuit occurs. An object of the present invention is to provide a zigzag folded laminate structure of a secondary battery excellent in performance and a battery module comprising the zigzag folded laminate structure.
In order to solve the above problems, the present invention comprises a plurality of positive electrode plates containing a positive electrode active material and a plurality of negative electrode plates containing a negative electrode active material sandwiched between a positively folded plate and a separator folded back in a zigzag manner. The separator has a zigzag laminated structure of a secondary battery, wherein the separator has a plurality of protrusions protruding from the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate, and at least a part of the protrusions has a stress rupture having a smaller tensile rupture strength than the remainder. It has the part.
The present invention employs a zigzag laminated structure as the laminated structure of the secondary battery. The zigzag laminated structure has a structure in which a belt-like separator is folded in a zigzag shape, and a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate are sandwiched between the folded separators. In general, in a zigzag laminated structure, the separator is folded back so as to protrude from the sandwiched positive electrode plate and negative electrode plate. That is, in the zigzag laminated structure, the protruding portions of the separator exist at both ends in the direction orthogonal to the stacking direction of the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate. The protruding portion of the separator is a portion that does not contribute to the battery performance because the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate are not interposed therebetween.
In the present invention, a stress rupture portion having a tensile rupture strength smaller than that of other separator portions is provided on at least a part of the plurality of projecting portions. That is, the present invention adopts a structure that makes it easy to break a protruding portion that is considered to have a small effect on battery performance in an unexpected abnormal situation such as nail penetration.
For example, when a nail pierces a battery, short-circuit current concentrates on the nail, and the amount of heat generated around the nail increases. In such a case, if the short-circuit current concentrated on the nail can be dispersed, the short-circuit current flowing in the nail can be reduced, and the amount of heat that increases in proportion to the square of the current can also be reduced.
Therefore, the present inventor intentionally causes an internal short-circuit in a place different from the place where the nail is stuck, and concentrates on the main internal short-circuit point where the nail is stuck in an unexpected abnormal situation where the nail is stuck in the battery. We studied to reduce the short-circuit current flowing to the main internal short-circuit points by dispersing the short-circuit current. And in order to raise | generate this intentional short circuit, this inventor provided the stress fracture part whose tensile fracture strength is smaller than the remainder of a separator in the protrusion part of the zigzag laminated structure considered that the influence with respect to battery performance is small .
This stress rupture portion is provided so as to be broken by an unexpected abnormal situation such as nail penetration. Therefore, when the stress rupture portion is ruptured, the positive electrode and the negative electrode near the stress rupture portion can be short-circuited. As a result, the internal separator of the positive and negative electrodes in the vicinity of the protrusion can be created intentionally by breaking the separator at the protrusion, and the short-circuit current flowing through the main internal short-circuit (site where the nail is pierced or collapsed) is distributed. By making it, the excessive temperature rise in the main internal short circuit can be suppressed. Therefore, even if an unexpected abnormal situation such as nail penetration or crushing occurs, the present invention can suppress the ignition of the battery, and has an excellent safety effect.

Specifically, as shown in FIG. 3, when the Z direction is set to the left and right and the X direction is set to the top and bottom, the
A plurality of projecting
The
As shown in FIG. 4, for example, when a foreign object such as a nail is stuck in the battery, the
Then, the
The disposition position of the
Further, it is desirable that the
Furthermore, by providing the
Specifically, as shown in FIG. 3, the
The
As shown in FIG. 3, the
As shown in FIG. 3, the
As described above, in the present embodiment, the four stress rupture portions 4 (41, 42, 43, 44) are provided on the outermost periphery of the zigzag folded laminate structure A, so that it is intentional when a foreign object such as the
The shape of the
It is desirable that the spell-folded laminate structure A of the present embodiment is restrained from the upper and lower ends in the stacking direction (X direction). Further, it is desirable that the zigzag folded laminate structure A is fixed by reducing the pressure inside the encased
As described above, the misalignment of the
The restraining means of the zigzag folded laminate structure A is not particularly limited as long as the
Similarly to the above, the means for reducing the pressure inside the battery is not particularly limited. For example, when a laminate film is used as the
In this embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the
(Battery cell)
As shown in FIG. 5, the
As the electrolytic solution, a solution obtained by dissolving an electrolyte in a generally used non-aqueous solvent can be used, and the electrolytic solution is not particularly limited. For example, a cyclic carbonate such as ethylene carbonate (EC), propylene carbonate (PC), or butylene carbonate (BC) and a chain carbonate such as dimethyl carbonate (DMC), ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC), or diethyl carbonate (DEC). A mixed solvent or a mixed solvent of a cyclic carbonate and an ether solvent such as 1,2-dimethoxyethane or 1,2-diethoxyethane can be used.
The type of the electrolyte is not particularly limited, but an inorganic salt selected from LiPF 6 , LiBF 4 , LiClO 4 and LiAsF 6 , derivatives of these inorganic salts, LiSO 3 CF 3 , LiC (SO 3 CF 3 ) 3 and LiN (SO 2 CF 3 ) 2 , LiN (SO 2 C 2 F 5 ) 2 , LiN (SO 2 CF 3 ) (SO 2 C 4 F 9 ), and organic salts thereof It is desirable that it is at least one of the derivatives. These electrolytes can further improve the battery performance, and can maintain the battery performance even higher in a temperature range other than room temperature. The concentration of the electrolyte is not particularly limited, and it is preferable to appropriately select the electrolyte and the organic solvent in consideration of the use.

(Battery module)
As shown in FIG. 6, the
The
Specifically, as shown in the schematic diagram of FIG. 6, the
Since the
Further, since the
As mentioned above, although preferred embodiment of this invention was described in detail based on drawing, this invention is not limited to the said embodiment, A various change is possible in the range which does not deviate from the summary.
For example, in the zigzag laminated structure A of the present embodiment and the
Further, the
