Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a solid oxide fuel cell system, and more particularly to a solid oxide fuel cell system that generates electric power by reacting hydrogen obtained by steam reforming raw fuel gas and an oxidant gas.
A solid oxide fuel cell (hereinafter also referred to as “SOFC”) uses an oxide ion conductive solid electrolyte as an electrolyte, electrodes are attached to both sides, and fuel gas (hydrogen) is attached to one side. This is a fuel cell that operates at a relatively high temperature by supplying an oxidant gas (air, oxygen, etc.) to the other side.
Thus, the solid oxide fuel cell is a fuel cell that operates at a relatively high temperature, and the temperature of the fuel cell during the power generation operation reaches about 700 to 1000 ° C. Thus, when the solid oxide fuel cell operated at a high temperature is stopped, the temperature of the fuel cell is lowered from a high temperature of about 700 to 1000 ° C. to a normal temperature over a long period of time. When power generation by the solid oxide fuel cell is stopped and the supply of fuel gas to the fuel electrode side of the fuel cell is stopped, the fuel electrode layer of the fuel cell still in a high temperature state after the stop is externally There is a risk that the invading air comes into contact and the fuel electrode layer is oxidized in the atmosphere.
Japanese Patent No. 4906242 (Patent Document 1) describes a method of stopping the operation of a fuel cell. In the fuel cell described here, a plurality of fuel cells are disposed in a fuel cell module, and a reformer for steam reforming the raw fuel gas is disposed above the fuel cells. During the power generation operation of this fuel cell, the fuel gas (hydrogen) obtained by reforming the raw fuel gas is supplied from the lower end of each fuel cell, and the remaining fuel gas (off gas) not used for power generation is supplied to each fuel cell. It is burned at the top of the cell. Due to the combustion of the off gas, the reformer disposed above is heated, and the steam reforming reaction in the reformer is maintained.
In the method of stopping the operation of the fuel cell described in Japanese Patent No. 4906242, the supply of the raw fuel gas is continued in a state where the supply amount is reduced even after the power generation operation is stopped. Hydrogen is produced. As described above, in the operation stopping method described in Japanese Patent No. 4906242, the supply of the raw fuel gas is continued even after the power generation operation is stopped, and the hydrogen is continuously supplied to the fuel electrode side of each fuel cell. Air does not flow backward, and the atmospheric oxidation of the fuel electrode layer can be prevented.
However, in the operation stopping method described in Japanese Patent No. 4906242, the fuel supply is continued even after the power generation operation is stopped, and the combustion of the off gas is also continued. Therefore, after the power generation operation is stopped, the temperature in the fuel cell module is lowered. There is a problem that the time is long. On the other hand, during the power generation operation, it is necessary to maintain a predetermined operating temperature of the fuel cell, and it is preferable to design the fuel cell module with high heat insulation. However, when the operation stop method described in Japanese Patent No. 4906242 is adopted, if the heat insulation of the fuel cell module is designed to be high, it takes a very long time for the temperature in the fuel cell module to drop after the power generation operation is stopped. It will be. As a result, the amount of raw fuel gas that is wasted after the power generation operation is stopped increases, and time is required for the temperature to be lowered, so that the maintainability of the fuel cell is deteriorated. Therefore, when the operation stop method described in Japanese Patent No. 4906242 is adopted, it is difficult to design the heat insulating property of the fuel cell module high. If the heat insulating property of the fuel cell module is designed to be low, there is a problem in that the amount of fuel consumed to maintain the operating temperature of the fuel cell during the power generation operation increases, and the overall energy efficiency decreases.
On the other hand, Japanese Patent No. 5316830 (Patent Document 2) describes a solid oxide fuel cell. This solid oxide fuel cell has succeeded in preventing atmospheric oxidation of the fuel electrode layer by adjusting the state in the fuel cell module immediately after stopping the power generation operation. That is, in this solid oxide fuel cell, the fuel cell in the fuel cell module is lowered to a temperature at which the atmosphere is not substantially oxidized while executing the shutdown stop that stops the supply of the raw fuel gas as well as the power generation operation. Until then, the fuel electrode side of each fuel cell has been successfully maintained in a hydrogen atmosphere. For this reason, in the solid oxide fuel cell described in Japanese Patent No. 5316830, the heat insulation of the fuel cell module can be designed to be high, and the overall energy efficiency can be improved.
However, the present inventor has found a new technical problem that when the shutdown stop is executed, a minute oxidation of the fuel electrode layer is generated by a mechanism completely different from the above atmospheric oxidation. That is, the present inventors have found that the fuel electrode layer is slightly oxidized even in a lower temperature zone by a mechanism different from atmospheric oxidation that occurs when air enters the fuel electrode side at a high temperature. .
The mechanism of the fuel electrode oxidation discovered by the present inventors is as follows.
First, the solid electrolyte layer of the fuel cell can transmit oxygen ions from the air electrode layer (oxidant gas electrode) toward the fuel electrode layer in an active state. On the other hand, in the active state, the fuel electrode layer reacts the fuel (hydrogen) with oxygen ions that have permeated through the solid electrolyte layer to generate water and emit electrons. The fuel electrode layer cannot act so as to sufficiently react with the fuel even when oxygen ions are supplied when the activity is lowered or deactivated.
In general, the minimum active temperature of each of the solid electrolyte layer, the air electrode layer, and the fuel electrode layer depends on the material used and the thickness of each layer. Therefore, oxygen ions are provided to the fuel electrode layer through the solid electrolyte layer in a predetermined temperature range after shutdown is stopped, but the provided oxygen ions can sufficiently react with the fuel. Disappear. Such a temperature range is also distributed in a low temperature range where atmospheric oxidation, which has been regarded as a problem in the past, hardly occurs.
Here, the fuel electrode layer contains a substance (for example, nickel) that can electrochemically react with oxygen ions, and this substance reacts with oxygen ions that cannot react with the fuel to form oxides (for example, nickel oxide). ) Is generated. Electrons are emitted by this electrochemical oxidation reaction, and an electromotive force is generated.
As described above, the electrochemical oxidation reaction of the fuel electrode layer occurs due to the existence of an oxygen partial pressure difference between the fuel electrode side and the air electrode (oxidant gas electrode) side in a predetermined temperature range. This electrochemical oxidation reaction is not a problem when the oxygen partial pressure difference is constant in each part of one fuel cell. However, after shutdown, air begins to gradually enter the fuel electrode side of the fuel cell that has been filled with hydrogen gas from the air electrode (oxidant gas electrode) side. If the concentration is not uniform, an electrochemical oxidation reaction is promoted. That is, the oxygen partial pressure difference between the fuel electrode side and the air electrode side is small near one end of the fuel cell into which air enters, and the oxygen partial pressure difference is low because air has not yet entered near the other end. Becomes larger. As described above, a hydrogen concentration gradient is generated in one fuel cell as air enters, so that a large electromotive force is generated in a portion where the oxygen partial pressure difference of the fuel cell is large, while the oxygen partial pressure difference is increased. In a small part, the electromotive force is not generated so much.
This causes a so-called local battery phenomenon in which electrons move from a large electromotive force portion to a small portion within one fuel cell, and a closed circuit is formed in one fuel cell. . When electrons move due to this local cell phenomenon, the flow of oxygen ions that permeate the solid electrolyte layer that has not lost its activity is promoted, and the electrochemical oxidation reaction of the fuel electrode layer is promoted. In particular, in one fuel cell, the flow of oxygen ions is large in a portion where the oxygen partial pressure difference is large, and many electrochemical oxidation reactions occur in this portion. Although the current due to such a local battery phenomenon is weak, since the cooling time after shutting down is as long as several hours, the time for the fuel cell to pass through the temperature band is also long, and the accumulated current amount (that is, , The amount of oxide generated) increases. Even if the intrusion of air to the fuel electrode side after shutdown is not so much as to cause atmospheric oxidation of the fuel electrode layer, a hydrogen concentration gradient is generated on the fuel electrode side of the fuel cell, and local The battery phenomenon may cause electrochemical oxidation of the fuel electrode layer.
When an electrochemical oxidation reaction occurs in the fuel electrode layer in the shutdown process, the fuel (hydrogen) is supplied to the fuel electrode layer when the fuel cell is next restarted. The oxidized oxide undergoes a reducing action. As described above, when the fuel cell is stopped and started and the subsequent operation is performed, the electrochemical oxidation / reduction reaction repeatedly occurs in the fuel electrode layer. Here, the fuel electrode layer undergoes a microstructural change and volume expansion due to an electrochemical oxidation reaction. As a result of repeated stopping and starting, if changes in the microstructure and volume of the fuel electrode layer occur repeatedly, not only fatigue is accumulated in the solid electrolyte layer, but also microstructure changes and volume expansion are accumulated, Specifically, micro cracks are generated in the solid electrolyte layer. In particular, the oxygen partial pressure difference of the fuel battery cell is large, fatigue is accumulated in a portion where a large amount of electrochemical oxidation reaction has occurred, and microcracks are likely to occur in this portion.
As described above, in the SOFC, the fuel electrode layer undergoes an electrochemical oxidation reaction in the stop step, thereby causing a tensile stress in the solid electrolyte layer due to the accumulation of microstructural change and volume expansion of the fuel electrode layer. Micro cracks are generated in the electrolyte layer. The present inventor has found out a mechanism for generating damage to the fuel cell due to such a microcrack.
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a solid oxide fuel cell system capable of sufficiently suppressing electrochemical oxidation of the fuel electrode layer of the fuel cell while executing shutdown stop.
In order to solve the above-described problems, the present invention provides a solid oxide fuel cell system that generates power by reacting hydrogen obtained by steam reforming a raw fuel gas and an oxidant gas. A fuel cell having a fuel electrode layer inside and a oxidant gas electrode layer outside, a reformer that generates hydrogen to be supplied to the fuel cell by steam reforming, and a raw material in the reformer. A fuel supply device that supplies fuel gas, a water supply device that supplies water for generating steam for steam reforming, and a first oxidant gas supply that supplies oxidant gas to the fuel electrode side of the fuel cell An apparatus, a second oxidant gas supply device that supplies an oxidant gas to the oxidant gas electrode side of the fuel cell, and a fuel cell module that contains the fuel cell, and the inside of the fuel cell module The first of the fuel cells Hydrogen supplied from the end to the inside of the fuel cell and discharged from the second end is combusted, and further controls the fuel supply device, the water supply device, and the second oxidant gas supply device, and also the fuel cell. A controller that controls the extraction of electric power from the module, the controller stops the extraction of electric power from the fuel cell module, stops the supply of raw fuel gas by the fuel supply device, and An atmosphere that is programmed to execute a shutdown stop in which the combustion of hydrogen flowing out from the end is stopped, and after the shutdown is stopped, the temperature of the fuel cell does not cause atmospheric oxidation of the fuel electrode layer. When the temperature drops below a predetermined first temperature higher than the oxidation safety temperature, the operation of the stopped fuel supply device is started, and the oxidant Backflow prevention means for preventing the backflow of the oxidant gas from the fuel electrode side to the fuel electrode side, and after the shutdown, when the temperature of the fuel cell drops to the ambient oxidation safety temperature, the fuel supply device is stopped, And an oxygen partial pressure difference eliminating means for starting the operation of the oxidant gas supply device and setting the inside of the fuel cell to an oxidant gas atmosphere.
In the present invention configured as described above, a fuel cell in which a fuel electrode layer is provided on the inner side of the solid electrolyte layer and an oxidant gas electrode layer is provided on the outer side is accommodated in the fuel cell module. The reformer generates hydrogen by steam reforming using the raw fuel gas supplied from the fuel supply device and the steam generated from the water supplied from the water supply device. Further, an oxidant gas is supplied to the fuel electrode side of the fuel cell by the first oxidant gas supply device, and an oxidant gas is supplied to the oxidant gas electrode side by the second oxidant gas supply device. The controller stops the shutdown of stopping the extraction of the electric power from the fuel cell module, stopping the supply of the raw fuel gas by the fuel supply device, and stopping the combustion of hydrogen flowing out from the second end of the fuel cell. Is programmed to run. The backflow preventing means is a fuel supply device that has been stopped when the temperature in the fuel cell module has dropped below a predetermined first temperature that is higher than the ambient oxidation safety temperature at which the atmospheric oxidation of the fuel electrode layer does not occur after the shutdown is stopped. Thus, the reverse flow of the oxidant gas from the oxidant gas electrode side to the fuel electrode side is prevented. The oxygen partial pressure difference exclusion means stops the fuel supply device and starts operation of the first oxidant gas supply device when the temperature in the fuel cell module decreases to the atmospheric oxidation safety temperature after the shutdown stop, and starts the operation of the first oxidant gas supply device. The inside of the battery cell is made an oxidant gas atmosphere.
According to the present invention configured as above, since the extraction of electric power from the fuel cell module and the supply of the raw fuel gas are stopped by the shutdown stop, the hydrogen flowing out from the second end of the fuel cell Combustion is stopped. For this reason, the temperature in the fuel cell module after stopping is likely to decrease, and the heat insulation of the fuel cell module can be configured to be high. As a result, the overall energy efficiency of the solid oxide fuel cell system can be improved.
On the other hand, backflow prevention means is provided for electrochemical oxidation, and the backflow prevention means operates the fuel supply device when the temperature drops below a predetermined first temperature higher than the ambient oxidation safety temperature, Suppresses the generation of electrochemical oxidation. Furthermore, in a temperature range below the atmospheric oxidation safety temperature where atmospheric oxidation of the fuel electrode layer does not occur, the oxygen partial pressure difference exclusion means operates the first oxidant gas supply device to make the inside of the fuel battery cell an oxidant gas atmosphere. This fundamentally eliminates the cause of electrochemical oxidation. Thus, according to the solid oxide fuel cell system of the present invention, electrochemical oxidation can be sufficiently suppressed with a simple configuration while executing shutdown stop.
In the present invention, preferably, the backflow preventing means starts the operation of the water supply device before starting the operation of the fuel supply device.
In the present invention, the backflow prevention means restarts the operation of the fuel supply device when the temperature drops below the predetermined first temperature. Since this first temperature is set to a temperature higher than the atmospheric oxidation safety temperature, there is a possibility that carbon deposition may occur in the reformer or in the fuel electrode layer due to resumption of fuel supply. According to the present invention configured as described above, since the backflow prevention means also starts supplying water, water vapor is supplied to the reformer and the fuel electrode side, while suppressing the occurrence of electrochemical oxidation, The occurrence of carbon deposition can be sufficiently suppressed.
In the present invention, preferably, an evaporator that is disposed outside the fuel cell module and that generates water vapor from water supplied from the water supply device and supplies the steam to the reformer, and for heating the evaporator The backflow preventing means starts operation of the water supply device and operates the heater to generate water vapor in the evaporator. The heater includes a heater and a heat insulating material surrounding the fuel cell module and the evaporator.
According to the present invention configured as described above, the evaporator is arranged outside the fuel cell module, and the evaporator is heated by the heater. Therefore, even if the temperature in the fuel cell module is lowered, Water vapor can be reliably generated in the evaporator, and the occurrence of carbon deposition can be reliably prevented. Further, since the evaporator is heated by the heater, the timing at which the water vapor is supplied can be accurately controlled, and the occurrence of carbon deposition due to the delay in the water vapor supply can be reliably prevented.
In the present invention, it is preferable that the fuel cell module further includes a heat exchanger disposed outside the fuel cell module so as to be surrounded by a heat insulating material, and the heat exchanger has heat of exhaust gas discharged from the fuel cell module. Thus, the oxidant gas supplied into the fuel cell module is heated by the second oxidant gas supply device, and the evaporator is heated by the heat of the exhaust gas after heating the oxidant gas.
According to the present invention configured as described above, the exhaust gas heats the oxidant gas supplied into the fuel cell module, and then heats the evaporator. The contact of the agent gas does not adversely affect the fuel cell. That is, since the exhaust gas first heats the oxidant gas supplied into the fuel cell module and then heats the water in the evaporator, the oxidant gas is sufficiently heated by the high-temperature exhaust gas. For this reason, according to the present invention configured as described above, a low-temperature oxidant gas is supplied into the fuel cell module, so that no thermal shock is given to each fuel cell accommodated therein. . Conversely, when the exhaust gas is configured to heat the oxidant gas after heating the evaporator, much heat of the exhaust gas is consumed to evaporate the water in the evaporator, The oxidant gas cannot be heated sufficiently. In this case, a low-temperature oxidant gas is supplied into the fuel cell module, and there is a risk of causing thermal shock to each internal fuel cell.
In the present invention, it is preferable that the high-temperature atmosphere oxidation suppression means further suppresses generation of atmospheric oxidation of the fuel electrode layer in the high temperature zone after shutdown is stopped, and the high-temperature atmosphere oxidation suppression means includes oxidation immediately after shutdown is stopped. The exhaust gas control for lowering the temperature in the fuel cell module is performed by operating the second oxidant gas supply device for a predetermined period in which the reverse flow of the agent gas to the fuel electrode side does not occur, and then left to stand.
According to the present invention configured as described above, the exhaust heat control is executed immediately after the shutdown is stopped as the high-temperature atmosphere oxidation suppression means. Therefore, even if the fuel supply is stopped after the shutdown is stopped, the pressure on the fuel electrode side is high. The temperature inside the fuel cell module can be lowered without risk of oxidant gas backflow. As a result, the temperature state in the fuel cell module is adjusted, and the back flow of the oxidant gas occurs during the leaving period in which the supply of fuel, oxidant gas, and water is stopped after the shutdown is stopped. Can sufficiently reduce the risk of oxidation in a high temperature atmosphere.
In the present invention, preferably, it further includes high temperature atmosphere oxidation suppression means for suppressing the occurrence of atmospheric oxidation of the fuel electrode layer in the high temperature zone after shutdown stop, and the high temperature atmosphere oxidation suppression means It is comprised by the aperture | diaphragm | squeeze part provided in the edge part of 2. FIG.
According to the present invention configured as described above, since the throttle portion is provided at the second end of the fuel cell as the high-temperature atmosphere oxidation suppression means, the fuel electrode side of the fuel cell and the oxidant gas electrode The flow resistance between the two sides increases, and the fuel can stay on the fuel electrode side for a long time after the shutdown is stopped. As a result, the risk of high-temperature atmosphere oxidation due to the oxidant gas backflow can be sufficiently reduced.
In the present invention, it is preferable that the high-temperature atmosphere oxidation suppression means further suppresses the occurrence of atmospheric oxidation of the fuel electrode layer in the high temperature zone after the shutdown is stopped. This is configured by pre-stop control that reduces the power taken out from the fuel cell module and increases the amount of oxidant gas supplied by the second oxidant gas supply device.
According to the present invention configured as described above, the pre-stop control is executed before the shutdown stop as the high-temperature atmosphere oxidation suppressing means, so that the temperature state in the fuel cell module at the shutdown stop or stays on the fuel electrode side. It is possible to set the amount of fuel and the like to a predetermined management value. As a result, the temperature drop and the pressure drop during the standing state after shutting down can be kept within the control values, and the risk of high-temperature atmosphere oxidation due to the oxidant gas backflow can be sufficiently reduced.
In the present invention, preferably, it further includes a combustion catalyst for purifying exhaust gas exhausted from the fuel cell module, and a catalyst heater for activating the combustion catalyst, and the backflow prevention means is such that the catalyst heater is operated, After the combustion catalyst is activated, the operation of the fuel supply device is started.
According to the present invention configured as described above, the combustion catalyst is activated before the fuel supply by the backflow prevention means is started. Therefore, even if the fuel supply is resumed by the backflow prevention means after the shutdown is stopped, It can reduce harmful components.
According to the solid oxide fuel cell system of the present invention, it is possible to sufficiently suppress the electrochemical oxidation of the fuel electrode layer of the fuel cell while executing shutdown stop.

As shown in FIG. 3, a power generation

Next, the flow of fuel, power generation air, and exhaust gas during the power generation operation of the solid oxide
First, the raw fuel gas is introduced into the
The manifold 66 is a rectangular parallelepiped space having a relatively large volume, which is disposed on the lower side of the
On the other hand, the power generation air as the oxidant gas is sent into the
The air injected into the
Next, control in the starting process of the solid oxide
FIG. 7 is a time chart showing an example of each supply amount of fuel and the temperature of each part in the starting process. In addition, the scale of the vertical axis | shaft of FIG. 7 has shown temperature, and each supply amount of fuel etc. has shown those increase / decrease roughly.
In the starting process shown in FIG. 7, the temperature of the
First, at time t0 in FIG. 7, supply of power generation air and reforming air is started. Specifically, the
Next, supply of raw fuel gas is started at time t1 after a predetermined time from time t0 in FIG. Specifically, the
Next, at time t2 when a predetermined time has elapsed from time t1 in FIG. 7, an ignition process for the supplied fuel is started. Specifically, in the ignition process, the
When ignition is completed at time t3 in FIG. 7, supply of reforming water is started. Specifically, the
After being ignited at time t3 in FIG. 7, the supplied fuel flows out from the upper end of each
CmHn+xO2 → aCO2+bCO+cH2 (1)
In this way, at time t4 when the temperature of the
C m H n + xO 2 →
Since this partial oxidation reforming reaction is an exothermic reaction, when the partial oxidation reforming reaction occurs in the reforming
CmHn+xH2O → aCO2+bCO+cH2 (2)
On the other hand, in the present embodiment, the supply of the reforming water is started from time t3 immediately after the ignition is confirmed, and the temperature of the
C m H n + xH 2 O → aCO 2 + bCO + cH 2 (2)
CmHn+xO2+yH2O → aCO2+bCO+cH2 (3)
As described above, when the time t4 in FIG. 7 is reached, the partial oxidation reforming reaction occurs in the reforming
C m H n + xO 2 + yH 2
Next, when the temperature detected by the
Furthermore, in the present embodiment at time t6 in FIG. 7, when the temperature detected by the power generation
Furthermore, when the temperature detected by the power generation
Next, when the temperature detected by the power generation
Further, after executing the SR2 process for a predetermined time, the process proceeds to the power generation process. In the power generation process, power is extracted from the
Next, a shutdown stop process in the conventional solid oxide fuel cell system will be described with reference to FIGS. 13 to 16b.
First, when the shutdown stop is performed, the supply of raw fuel gas, the supply of water, and the supply of power generation air are stopped in a short time. Also, the extraction of power from the fuel cell module is stopped (output current = 0). After the shutdown stop, the fuel cell module is left in this state. For this reason, the fuel which existed on the fuel electrode side inside each fuel cell is ejected to the air electrode side based on the pressure difference from the external air electrode side. In addition, the air (and the fuel ejected from the fuel electrode side) that existed on the air electrode side of each fuel battery cell is based on the pressure difference between the pressure on the air electrode side (pressure in the power generation chamber) and atmospheric pressure. It is discharged outside the fuel cell module. Therefore, after the shutdown is stopped, the pressure on the fuel electrode side and the air electrode side of each fuel cell naturally decreases.
However, by providing a throttle part, which is a narrow tube having a large flow path resistance part, at the upper end of each fuel cell, the pressure drop on the fuel electrode side after the fuel supply and power generation is stopped It is configured so that the fuel remains for a long time after the shutdown is stopped. As described above, even in the conventional solid oxide fuel cell system, after being left to stand after being shut down, the pressure on the fuel electrode side is kept below the oxidation suppression temperature while maintaining the pressure higher than the pressure on the air electrode side. The risk that the fuel electrode is oxidized in the atmosphere is suppressed.
In the present specification, the oxidation suppression temperature means a temperature at which the risk that the fuel electrode is oxidized in the atmosphere is sufficiently reduced. The risk of the anode being oxidized gradually decreases with decreasing temperature and eventually becomes zero. For this reason, even if the oxidation suppression temperature is in a temperature range slightly higher than the oxidation lower limit temperature, which is the lowest temperature at which oxidation of the fuel electrode can occur, the risk of fuel electrode oxidation can be sufficiently reduced. In a general fuel cell, such an oxidation suppression temperature is considered to be about 350 ° C. to 400 ° C., and the oxidation lower limit temperature is considered to be about 250 ° C. to 300 ° C.
FIG. 13 is a diagram for explaining the operation after shutdown of the conventional solid oxide fuel cell system. The upper part of FIG. 13 shows a graph schematically showing the pressure change on the fuel electrode side and the air electrode side, the middle part shows the control operation and the temperature in the fuel cell module in time series, and the lower part shows the fuel at each time point. The state of the upper end part of the battery cell is shown.
First, a normal power generation operation is performed before the shutdown stop in the middle stage of FIG. In this state, the temperature in the fuel cell module is about 600 to 700 ° C. Further, as shown in the lower part (1) of FIG. 13, the fuel gas remaining without being used for power generation is ejected from the upper end of the fuel cell, and this ejected fuel gas is combusted at the upper end. Next, when the supply of the raw fuel gas, the reforming water, and the power generation air is stopped due to the shutdown stop, the flow rate of the ejected fuel gas decreases, as shown in the lower part (2) of FIG. The flame at the tip of the fuel cell disappears.
Since the pressure inside the fuel cell (fuel electrode side) is higher than the outside (air electrode side) even after the flame has disappeared after the shutdown, as shown in the lower part (3) of FIG. The ejection of fuel gas from the battery cell is continued. Moreover, as shown in the upper part of FIG. 13, immediately after the shutdown is stopped, the pressure on the fuel electrode side is higher than the pressure on the air electrode side, and each pressure decreases while maintaining this relationship. The pressure difference between the fuel electrode side and the air electrode side decreases with the ejection of the fuel gas after the shutdown stop. The amount of fuel gas ejected from the fuel cells decreases as the pressure difference between the fuel electrode side and the air electrode side decreases (lower stage (4) (5) in FIG. 13).
When about 5 to 6 hours have passed after shutdown, and when the temperature in the fuel cell module drops to the oxidation suppression temperature, both the fuel electrode side and the air electrode side of each fuel cell drop to almost atmospheric pressure, The pole side air begins to diffuse toward the fuel pole side (lower stage (6) (7) in FIG. 13). In the vicinity of the oxidation suppression temperature, the temperature of the fuel electrode is low, and even when the fuel electrode is in contact with air, little oxidation occurs, and the adverse effects caused by oxidation can be substantially ignored. Furthermore, as shown in the lower part (8) of FIG. 13, after the temperature of the fuel electrode falls below the oxidation lower limit temperature, the fuel electrode is atmospherically oxidized even if the fuel electrode side of each fuel cell is filled with air. Never happen. As described above, in the conventional solid oxide fuel cell system, the mechanical structure prevents the air that has entered the fuel electrode above the oxidation suppression temperature from coming into contact and preventing the fuel electrode from being oxidized in the atmosphere.
However, even when the atmospheric oxidation of the fuel electrode is prevented, the present inventors have found a phenomenon that the fuel electrode is electrochemically oxidized by a mechanism different from the atmospheric oxidation.

On the other hand, the active state in which the
Further, the air electrode is in an active state in which oxygen in the air can be converted into oxygen ions above the lower limit activation temperature Tb of the
In general, in order to enable power generation at a lower temperature, it is preferable that the activation temperatures of the fuel electrode, the solid electrolyte layer, and the air electrode of the fuel cell are low. Lowering the activation temperature is achieved not only by selecting the material itself but also by tuning the particle size, layer thickness, manufacturing process parameters, etc. of the selected material. As the activation temperature is lowered as described above, the activation lower limit temperatures of the fuel electrode, the solid electrolyte layer, and the air electrode can be set lower than the oxidation inhibition temperature Te of nickel. Moreover, the activity minimum temperature of a solid electrolyte layer and an air electrode becomes lower than the activity minimum temperature of a fuel electrode.
FIG. 14 shows the relationship between the lower limit temperature Ta of the fuel electrode and the lower limit temperature Tb of the electrolyte. As described above, the active state of the fuel electrode starts to decrease from about 450 ° C., and becomes inactive at the activation lower limit temperature Ta (about 290 ° C.). On the other hand, the active state of the solid electrolyte layer starts to decrease from about 350 ° C., and becomes inactive at the activity lower limit temperature Tb (about 200 ° C.). Therefore, from the power generation operating temperature to the lower limit temperature Tb of the solid electrolyte layer, the
FIG. 15 is a graph showing an electromotive force generated by a single
In the graph of FIG. 15, the horizontal axis indicates the temperature of the
Next, with reference to FIG. 16A, the behavior of the fuel cell when the temperature in the fuel cell module passes through the temperature range in which the abnormal current can be generated will be described.
As described above, in the temperature zone Tc, the
The fuel electrode contains nickel, and nickel reacts with oxygen in the air and tends to be nickel oxide in a high temperature atmosphere higher than the oxidation suppression temperature Te (about 350 ° C.), but the temperature range is lower than the oxidation suppression temperature Te. In nickel, nickel is in a state in which it hardly reacts with oxygen in the air.
However, even in a temperature range lower than the oxidation suppression temperature Te, when oxygen ions that have passed through the
When the active state of the fuel electrode is not lowered, it is considered that only a normal power generation reaction in which oxygen ions are combined with fuel occurs, and an abnormal reaction in which oxygen ions are combined with nickel does not substantially occur.
On the other hand, after the shutdown is stopped, the extraction of electric power from the
That is, the electrochemical oxidation reaction occurs based on the difference in oxygen partial pressure between the fuel electrode side and the air electrode side. Therefore, in the state where a large amount of hydrogen remains on the fuel electrode side, the oxygen partial pressure on the fuel electrode side is low, and the difference in oxygen partial pressure with the air electrode side becomes large. Oxygen ions easily flow. However, when the oxygen partial pressure difference is uniform in each part of the single
However, as described with reference to FIG. 13, when time elapses after the shutdown stop, air begins to gradually diffuse from the air electrode side to the fuel electrode side, so that the concentration of hydrogen remaining in the vicinity of the upper end of the
In this way, a large amount of electric charge is generated near the lower end of the
Nickel oxide generated by the electrochemical oxidation reaction is reduced by the fuel (hydrogen) supplied to the fuel electrode during the power generation operation. As described above, when the nickel contained in the fuel electrode undergoes an electrochemical oxidation / reduction reaction by stopping and starting and subsequent operation, the fuel electrode changes in the microstructure and volume.
Furthermore, in addition to the frequent stopping and starting of the fuel cell module, the electrochemical oxidation reaction of nickel occurs for a relatively long time in the stopping and starting process, particularly in the stopping process that requires a long time.
Thus, when a change in the microstructure and volume of the fuel electrode occurs, tensile stress is applied to the solid electrolyte layer. Each fuel cell where the flow of oxygen ions due to local battery phenomenon concentrates as the cumulative amount of nickel that undergoes electrochemical oxidation / reduction reactions increases many times due to long-term use. In the vicinity of the lower end of 16, finally a minute crack is generated in the solid electrolyte layer.
Thus, the present inventors are in a state where nickel, which is a specific substance contained in the fuel electrode, is subjected to electrochemical oxidation in the temperature zone Tc, and is electrochemically oxidized and reduced during the subsequent operation. Upon receipt, it was found that the microstructure and volume of the fuel electrode changed, and tensile stress was applied to the solid electrolyte layer, and finally a minute crack was generated in the solid electrolyte layer, thereby damaging the fuel cell.
Next, the shutdown stop in the solid oxide
8a and 8b are flowcharts showing a processing procedure when shutdown stop is executed in the solid oxide
The
First, in step S1 of FIG. 8a, it is determined whether or not the stop process to be executed is a normal stop. If it is an abnormal stop, the process proceeds to step S2, and one process of the flowchart shown in FIGS. 8a and 8b is terminated. In the case of a normal stop, the processing after step S3 in FIG. 8a is executed. In the present embodiment, “normal stop” means a stop based on a stop operation by the user of the solid oxide
In the example of the time chart shown in FIG. 9, at time t301, the stop switch is operated by the user, and the pre-stop control is started. In response to this operation, pre-stop control is executed in step S3 in FIG. 8a (time t301 to t303 in FIGS. 9 and 10, lower stage (2) in FIG. 11). In the pre-stop control, first, output to the outside by the
For this reason, a weak current is taken out from the
Further, in the pre-stop control, after time t301, the supply amount of the raw fuel gas indicated by the dotted line in FIG. 10 and the supply amount of the reforming water indicated by the thin solid line are linearly decreased. On the other hand, the air supply amount for power generation indicated by a thick one-dot chain line is increased to the maximum value. Therefore, during the pre-stop control, more air is supplied than the amount corresponding to the electric power extracted from the
As described above, as the pre-stop control, by reducing the fuel supply amount and the water supply amount, the air flow in the
Next, in step S4 of FIG. 8a, it is determined whether or not a predetermined time has elapsed after the start of the pre-stop control. In the present embodiment, the pre-stop control is continued until 20 minutes have elapsed after the start of the pre-stop control (time t303 in FIG. 10). This pre-stop control regulates the temperature distribution and pressure state in the
Next, in step S5 of FIG. 8a, the fuel supply amount and the water supply amount for reforming are made zero, the current taken out from the
During the period when the exhaust heat control is performed, fuel remains in the fuel electrode side of the
Next, in step S6 of FIG. 8a, it is determined whether or not a predetermined time has elapsed after the start of exhaust heat control. In the present embodiment, the exhaust heat control is continued until 5 minutes have elapsed after the start of the pre-stop control (time t304 in FIG. 10). The time during which the exhaust heat control is executed depends on the structure of the
When a predetermined time elapses after the start of the exhaust heat control, the process proceeds to step S7. In step S7, the supply of power generation air by the power generation air flow
Next, in step S8 of FIG. 8a, it is determined whether or not the temperature in the
In the example shown in FIG. 9, the temperature in the
In the state in which the inside of the
In step S9 of FIG. 8a, the
Next, in step S10, it is determined whether or not 2 minutes have elapsed since the start of water supply. If 2 minutes have elapsed, the process proceeds to step S11.
In step S11, the
The supplied raw fuel gas is partially steam reformed in the
Therefore, the supply of the raw fuel gas executed in step S11 of FIG. 8b mainly functions as a backflow prevention means for preventing electrochemical oxidation of the fuel electrode. That is, the backflow prevention means is executed by a program built in the control unit.
Next, in step S12, it is determined whether or not 15 seconds have elapsed after starting the supply of raw fuel gas. If 15 seconds have elapsed, the process proceeds to step S13.
In step S13, the
The fuel gas supplied to the fuel electrode side of each
Next, in step S14, it is determined whether or not the temperature in the
In step S15, the
The air supplied by the reforming air flow
Next, in step S16, it is determined whether or not the temperature in the
In step S17, the supply of reforming air and power generation air is stopped, and one process of the flowcharts of FIGS. 8a and 8b is terminated. When the temperature in the
According to the solid oxide
Further, according to the solid oxide
Furthermore, according to the solid oxide
In addition, according to the solid oxide
Further, according to the solid oxide
Furthermore, according to the solid oxide
As mentioned above, although preferable embodiment of this invention was described, a various change can be added to embodiment mentioned above. In particular, in the above-described embodiment, the
FIG. 12 is a front cross-sectional view of a fuel cell module provided in a solid oxide fuel cell system according to a modification of the present invention.
As shown in FIG. 12, the
In this modification, the remaining fuel that is not used for power generation is combusted at the upper end of each
The generated water vapor is mixed with the raw fuel gas and flows into the
The
On the other hand, the process after the shutdown stop in the present modification is also the same as that of the above-described embodiment of the present invention. Energize to ensure that the supplied water is evaporated.
Further, according to this modification, the
Further, according to the present modification, the exhaust gas heats the air supplied to the fuel
Further, in the above-described embodiment of the present invention, pre-stop control (step S3 in FIG. 8a) and exhaust heat control (step S5) are performed as high temperature atmosphere oxidation suppression means for preventing oxidation of the fuel electrode due to high temperature atmosphere. At the same time, a fuel gas passage
Furthermore, in this modification, as a high-temperature atmosphere oxidation suppression means, during the leaving step (time t304 to t305 in FIG. 9), the
