Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an illumination device for a head-up display having a plurality of light sources.
近年、LED(Light Emitting Diode)光源の高寿命化及び高輝度化により、LED光源の普及が進んでいる。
2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, LED light sources have been widely used due to the long life and high brightness of LED (Light Emitting Diode) light sources. In addition, liquid crystal display panels are becoming popular due to the miniaturization of liquid crystal display panels. As a result, development of an on-vehicle head-up display equipped with an LED light source or a liquid crystal display panel has been actively conducted.
In the conventional speedometer or car navigation system, when the driver checks the navigation information while traveling, the driver needs to move the position of the big eyes. Here, the “navigation information” is information such as a vehicle speed, road information, or a route to a destination. Further, “movement of eye position when confirming navigation information” means, for example, that the line of sight is moved from the front in the traveling direction to the speedometer or navigation system in the vehicle. The head-up display displays a virtual image as if the image is raised. The position displayed as if the virtual image is raised is a position that connects the scenery seen from the inside of the vehicle and the driver's eyes, and is a position in front of the windshield glass. Displaying the virtual image can greatly reduce the movement of the driver's eyes.
With a head-up display, even when the scenery outside the vehicle is very bright, such as when the weather is clear, it is necessary for the driver to visually recognize important information such as the vehicle speed. Therefore, various methods have been studied for the purpose of increasing the brightness of the head-up display or improving the uniformity of the in-plane brightness of the display image.
The main efforts to increase the brightness of the head-up display are described below. Since the navigation information including the speed information described above is basically visible only to the driver, the image light displayed on the head-up display has only to be projected in a limited range. “Image light” refers to light having image information. Therefore, high brightness of the head-up display is realized by projecting the image light to a limited range. The range in which the driver can visually recognize the minimum necessary image is generally called “eye box”. Within the present specification, the above range is described as an eye box.
In addition, main causes of in-plane luminance unevenness when a transmissive liquid crystal display panel is adopted as a display device will be described. When the transmissive liquid crystal display panel is used, the LED light source is disposed on the back side of the transmissive liquid crystal display panel to illuminate the transmissive liquid crystal display panel. The “back side” is a position opposite to the driver side with respect to the transmissive liquid crystal display panel. At this time, a plurality of LED light sources are used to obtain a desired luminance.
Here, the “desired luminance” is a luminance that allows the driver to visually recognize information important for traveling such as the speed of the vehicle even when the scenery outside the vehicle is very bright such as when the weather is fine. By using a plurality of LED light sources, the luminance of the transmissive liquid crystal display panel can be improved. However, depending on the arrangement of the plurality of LED light sources, the illumination light emitted from the LED light source and the illumination light emitted from the adjacent LED light source overlap on the transmissive liquid crystal display panel. As described above, since the overlapping area becomes brighter than the other areas, luminance unevenness is visually recognized on the transmissive liquid crystal display panel.
In
However, by making the boundary line between the lenses uneven, the amount of light that can be captured as illumination light among the amount of light emitted by each LED light source is reduced. Also, if the boundary line of the lens array has an uneven shape, it is difficult to manufacture the lens array at the boundary line, and an invalid area that does not have a lens function is generated.
。
An illuminating device according to the present invention includes a plurality of light sources that emit illumination light, a lens array that collects the illumination light emitted from the light source, and illumination light emitted from the lens array within the surface of the liquid crystal display panel. And a field lens that adjusts to an emission angle and an emission direction according to each location, and the field lens has a diffusion region in a partial region on the light incident surface side.
Realizes an illuminating device that can suppress a decrease in brightness with a simple structure by providing a concave-convex structure on the area where the adjacent illumination light overlaps on the entrance surface of the field lens that receives multiple illumination lights projected from the lens array it can.

FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram of an in-vehicle head-up
The vehicle-mounted head-up display system according to the present invention includes, for example, a head-up
The head-up
A range of eye positions where a virtual image can be visually recognized is referred to as an eye box 5. If the position 6 of the driver's eyes is within the range of the eye box 5, the driver can visually recognize the displayed image. The size of the eye box 5 is determined by the divergence angle of light emitted from the liquid
FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram of the head-up
In the following description, the front of the head-up
The
In the first embodiment, the
The illumination light condensed by the
A part of the incident surface of the
The
The effect of providing the
The
The curvature of the lenticular lens structure in the
FIG. 6 is a schematic diagram relating to the size of the diffusion region provided on the
<変形例1>
The curvature of the lens portion of the
<変形例2>
<Modification 2>
In the second modification, the shape of the surface of the diffusion region on the
By setting the
In the above example, the fine
Further, as described above, by providing the
In the above-described embodiment, the light source is described as the LED light source. However, it is not limited to the LED light source. The light source may be a laser light source or a light source that emits light by irradiating a phosphor with excitation light. Further, a light source that illuminates a plurality of lamp light sources may be used.
In the above-described embodiments, there are cases where terms such as “parallel” indicating the positional relationship between components or the shape of the components are used. These represent that a range that takes into account manufacturing tolerances and assembly variations is included. For this reason, when the description showing the positional relationship between the parts or the shape of the part is included in the claims, it indicates that the range including a manufacturing tolerance or an assembly variation is taken into consideration.
Moreover, although the embodiments of the present invention have been described above, the present invention is not limited to these embodiments.
