Hereinafter, an example of a preferred embodiment for realizing the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
In the lens array of the present embodiment, partition walls are formed on the surface of a glass substrate having a transparent film on the surface by a blade on the surface of the substrate (glass substrate having a film), and a liquid resin is formed between the partition walls. A lens is formed. The partition is formed by a film.
A lens array is an optical system in which a plurality of element lenses (lens elements) that form an erect image are arranged in parallel, and the images are superimposed to form one continuous image as a whole. Including lenticular lenses. For example, a three-dimensional image (also referred to as 3D) can be expressed, and a plurality of images can be displayed (also referred to as changing) by changing the line of sight. As an array, a one-dimensional array (for example, a cylindrical lens array or the like) as in the example of FIG. 1 described later, or a two-dimensional array (for example, a square lens array or the like) as in the example of FIG. A microlens array such as a two-dimensional lens array).
Here, when the glass substrate is made transparent and combined with a medium that displays a lenticular image, it is possible to express a three-dimensional image or change of an image. Alternatively, a lenticular image may be directly formed on a glass substrate, and a lenticular lens may be formed.
Here, the lenticular image is a plurality of n types of images V1, V2,... Vn, each of which is a strip-shaped image portion (for each image Vi, Vi, 1, Vi, 1,...). The strip-shaped image portions cut out from the images V1 to Vn are taken as a set, and this set is repeated and arranged in a direction with respect to the longitudinal direction of the strip (a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction). That is, they are sequentially arranged as V1,1, V2,1,... Vn, 1, V1,2, V2,2,.
As a method of creating this lens array, there is a partition pinning method. In this partition pinning method, the partition is formed by scratching the resin substrate with a sharp blade, and the flow of fluid resin (such as UV curable resin) is suppressed by the pinning effect of the partition. Therefore, by forming partition walls with a lens pitch that matches the shape and size of the lens to be prepared, and discharging the fluid resin between the partition walls, a lens having that shape can be formed. The curvature (focal length) of the lens is controlled by the volume of the fluid resin to be discharged. The lens manufacturing method using the partition wall pinning method can change the lens pitch, focal length, and lens size. This embodiment uses this partition pinning method.
On the other hand, in this partition wall pinning method, if the substrate surface is tilted or wavy, the blade must be finely moved following this, and it is difficult to suppress variations in the height of the partition walls.
Therefore, the substrate is a glass substrate, and a resin solution is applied to the surface of the glass substrate to form a transparent film. If it does in this way, since the glass base | substrate functions as a stopper with respect to a blade, the dispersion | variation in the height of a partition can be suppressed.
Further, in this partition pinning method, the partition is formed by scratching the surface of the resin substrate with a blade, so that a groove portion (a portion scratched with the blade) that is a region that does not function as a lens is also formed. Since the groove portion reduces the aperture ratio, it is desirable to reduce the groove width.
In order to reduce the groove width, it is necessary to reduce the groove depth by using a blade having a small tip angle (thin blade). Further, in order to suppress variations in partition wall height (or groove width), it is necessary to make the groove depth (cut depth) constant. It is desirable for making a microlens array that suppresses a decrease in aperture ratio to achieve both of these (reducing the groove depth and making the groove depth constant). Here, the blade having a small tip angle only needs to have a blade tip angle smaller than a predetermined value.
However, if there is tilt or undulation on the surface of the substrate, the blade must be finely moved following it, making it difficult to achieve both of the above. A glass substrate is used as a substrate, and a resin solution is applied to the surface of the glass substrate to form a transparent film having a thickness of 0.05 to 20 microns. If it does in this way, a glass base | substrate will play the role of a stopper with respect to a blade, groove | channel depth can be made small, and the dispersion | variation in the height of a partition can be suppressed. Further, when the groove depth is reduced, the width of the groove formed at the time of manufacturing the partition wall is reduced, and the area occupied by the lens can be increased accordingly, so that a lens array with a high aperture ratio can be realized.

In step S304, a thin film is formed by applying a resin solution to the surface of the

液状の樹脂として、例えば、UV(UltraViolet radiation)硬化樹脂であるNOA65(Norland Products社製)等がある。
In step S308, a lens material resin is dropped into the hole surrounded by the generated partition wall. As shown in the example of FIG. 1D, a liquid resin (UV
In step S310, a resin curing process is performed. That is, the lens is formed by curing the liquid resin discharged or applied in step S308. Specifically, if it is a UV curable resin, it is cured by UV light irradiation of a
By this manufacturing method, a lens having a glass substrate, a transparent film laminated on the glass substrate and having a plurality of partition walls, and a convex lens provided between the plurality of partition walls and formed of a resin. An array is created.
Next, the lens width and curvature control by the partition wall pinning method will be described with reference to the examples of FIGS.
FIG. 4 is an explanatory view showing an example of a method of manufacturing a lens array by forming partition walls (principle of partition pinning method). Here, in order to simplify the description, a partition is formed by one

As illustrated in FIG. 4C, a UV curable resin (such as the UV curable resin 162) is discharged between the partition walls (for example, between the
FIG. 5 is an explanatory diagram showing an example of curvature control (pinning effect by a bent surface). As shown in the example of FIG. 5A, the contact angle of the liquid interface of the liquid (such as the UV curable resin 162) on the flat plate-like surface (the
Next, a method for manufacturing a two-dimensional lens array by the partition wall pinning method will be described with reference to FIGS. Of course, the
In this manufacturing method, the partition wall structure is formed in a lattice shape. A method for manufacturing a square lens will be mainly described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 6 is an explanatory diagram showing an example of a method for manufacturing a lens array. FIG. 7 is a flowchart showing an example of a method for manufacturing a lens array.
In step S702, barrier ribs are formed in one direction (vertical direction) as shown in the example of FIG. That is, partition walls (
In step S704, a square opening as shown in the example of FIG. 6B is formed. That is, the partition wall is formed in a direction different from that in step S702 (for example, a direction perpendicular to the direction in step S702). Partitions (
In this step S704, the partition is formed by moving the
Through the processing in steps S702 and S704, an opening is formed by the
In step S706, the liquid resin is discharged by the
In step S708, a curing process by UV irradiation of the UV
