Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a piezoelectric element and a method for manufacturing a piezoelectric element.
The piezoelectric element has a pair of main surfaces opposed to each other and side surfaces extending in the opposing direction of the pair of main surfaces so as to connect the pair of main surfaces, and an element body made of a piezoelectric ceramic material, and a pair of main surfaces A device including a pair of electrodes respectively disposed on a surface is known (for example, see Patent Document 1).
The element body and the resin are different materials. For this reason, there is a possibility of peeling at the interface between the element body and the resin. When peeling occurs at the interface between the element body and the resin, it becomes impossible to prevent the crystal grains from falling off from the side surfaces of the element body, and the resin itself may drop off. Therefore, a resin having high adhesive strength with respect to the element body is required.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a piezoelectric element having improved adhesive strength between an element body and a resin and a method for manufacturing the piezoelectric element.
A piezoelectric element according to the present invention has a pair of main surfaces opposed to each other and side surfaces extending in a facing direction of the pair of main surfaces so as to connect the pair of main surfaces, and an element body made of a piezoelectric ceramic material. A pair of electrodes that respectively contact the pair of main surfaces; and a resin that covers the side surfaces and contacts the side surfaces so as to contact the pair of electrodes, and the resin includes an epoxy resin and a thiol group Compound.
In the piezoelectric element according to the present invention, the side surface of the element body is covered with resin. For this reason, it is possible to prevent the crystal grains from dropping from the side surfaces of the element body. The resin is in contact with the pair of electrodes. For this reason, it can suppress that an electrode peels from an element | base_body. The resin contains an epoxy resin and a compound containing a thiol group. By causing a compound containing a thiol group to function as a curing agent for an epoxy resin, a piezoelectric element having improved adhesive strength between the resin and the element body can be provided.
The method for manufacturing a piezoelectric element according to the present invention has a pair of main surfaces facing each other and end surfaces extending in a facing direction of the pair of main surfaces so as to connect the pair of main surfaces, and abuts against the pair of main surfaces, respectively. A preparation step of preparing a piezoelectric element substrate on which a pair of electrodes are formed, an attaching step of attaching an adhesive tape to one main surface side of the piezoelectric element substrate, and a piezoelectric step from the other main surface side of the piezoelectric element substrate A substrate cutting step for cutting the element substrate, a resin filling step for filling the cut groove with resin so as to contact the pair of electrodes, and a heat treatment for the piezoelectric element substrate in which the cut groove is filled with resin A curing treatment step for curing the resin, a resin cutting step for cutting the cured resin from the other main surface side, and a peeling step for peeling the tape from the piezoelectric element substrate. And a curing agent To the, a compound comprising a thiol group, a resin containing used.
In the piezoelectric element manufacturing method according to the present invention, a kerf is formed in the piezoelectric element substrate in the substrate cutting step, the resin is in contact with each electrode in the resin filling step, and the kerf is filled, and the resin in the resin cutting step. Is disconnected. As a result, the entire cut surface of the piezoelectric element substrate is covered with the resin. For this reason, it is possible to prevent the crystal grains from falling off from the cut surface of the piezoelectric element substrate. Since the resin comes into contact with the pair of electrodes, the electrodes can be prevented from peeling from the piezoelectric element substrate. The resin contains an epoxy resin and a compound containing a thiol group. By causing the compound containing a thiol group to function as a curing agent for the epoxy resin, the adhesive strength between the resin and the piezoelectric element substrate is improved.
In the present invention, the resin curing process includes a step of gelling the resin by subjecting the piezoelectric element substrate to the first heat treatment, and a temperature higher than that of the first heat treatment on the piezoelectric element substrate after the first heat treatment. A step of curing the gelled resin by performing the second heat treatment. When the temperature of the resin is raised to the temperature at which the curing process is performed, the viscosity of the resin decreases, so that the surface tension decreases, and the electrode surface of the piezoelectric element substrate may be coated. Therefore, the first heat treatment is performed at a temperature lower than the temperature at which the curing treatment is performed, and the treatment for preventing the decrease in the viscosity due to the temperature rise is performed by gelling the resin. Thereby, flow of resin can be suppressed and it can control that resin coats the electrode surface of a piezoelectric element substrate.
In the present invention, in the resin filling step, the resin may be attached to at least one of the end faces of the piezoelectric element substrate, and the cut groove may be filled with the resin by capillary action. By filling the kerf with resin by capillarity, the resin can be filled without gaps even when the groove width is small.
In the method for manufacturing a piezoelectric element according to the present invention, a pair of main surfaces facing each other and end faces extending in the opposing direction of the pair of main surfaces so as to connect the pair of main surfaces are brought into contact with the pair of main surfaces, respectively. From a preparation step of preparing a piezoelectric element substrate on which a pair of electrodes are formed, an attaching step of attaching an adhesive tape to one main surface side of the piezoelectric element substrate, and the other main surface side of the piezoelectric element substrate, A first substrate cutting step for cutting the piezoelectric element substrate in the first direction, and a resin is attached to at least one side of the end surface where the first kerf is formed by the first cutting step, and the first kerf is caused by capillary action. A first resin filling step of filling the resin so as to be in contact with the pair of electrodes, and a first curing treatment step of curing the resin by applying heat treatment to the piezoelectric element substrate in which the resin is filled in the first kerf And from the other main surface side, the first one A second substrate cutting step for cutting the piezoelectric element substrate and the cured resin in a second direction intersecting the substrate, and a resin is attached to at least one side of the end face where the second kerf is formed by the second substrate cutting step. A second resin filling step of filling the second kerf with resin so as to be in contact with the pair of electrodes by capillarity, and applying heat treatment to the piezoelectric element substrate in which the second kerf is filled with resin. A second curing treatment step for curing the resin, a resin cutting step for cutting the cured resin in the first kerf and the second kerf from the other main surface side, and a peeling step for peeling the tape from the piezoelectric element substrate. As a resin, a resin containing an epoxy resin and a compound containing a thiol group as a curing agent is used.
In the method for manufacturing a piezoelectric element according to the present invention, the first cut groove is formed in the piezoelectric element substrate in the first direction and filled with the resin, and then the second cut is performed in the second direction intersecting the first direction. Grooves are formed. After forming kerfs along a plurality of directions (for example, grid-like kerfs) on the piezoelectric element substrate, when the resin is filled into the kerfs by capillary action, the resin penetration may be delayed at the intersections of the kerfs. There is. Accordingly, a first kerf is provided, which is filled with resin by capillary action and cured. Thereafter, a second kerf that intersects the first kerf is provided, and the second kerf is filled with resin by capillary action. Thereby, resin is filled with no gap in each cut groove, and the entire cut surface of the piezoelectric element substrate is covered with the resin.
In the present invention, at least one of the first resin curing treatment step and the second resin curing treatment step includes a step of gelling the resin by subjecting the piezoelectric element substrate to the first heat treatment, and a piezoelectric treatment after the first heat treatment. A step of curing the gelled resin by subjecting the element substrate to a second heat treatment at a temperature higher than that of the first heat treatment. When the temperature of the resin is raised to the temperature at which the curing process is performed, the viscosity of the resin decreases, so that the surface tension decreases, and the electrode surface of the piezoelectric element substrate may be coated. Therefore, a heat treatment is performed at a temperature lower than the temperature at which the curing treatment is performed, and a treatment for preventing a decrease in viscosity due to a temperature rise is performed in advance by gelling the resin. Thereby, flow of resin can be suppressed and it can control that resin coats the electrode surface of a piezoelectric element substrate.
ADVANTAGE OF THE INVENTION According to this invention, the manufacturing method of the piezoelectric element which improved the adhesive strength of an element | base_body and resin, and a piezoelectric element can be provided.

Next, a method for manufacturing the
First, the
The
Next, a
Next, the
Next, the
The cut surface of the
Next, the
In the resin filling step S109, the
Next, the
This is because the surface of the
Therefore, as described above, the
Even in the case of a piezoelectric element substrate having a processed surface by polishing or the like, minute irregularities exist on the surface of the piezoelectric element substrate. Depending on the thickness of the electrode coated on the piezoelectric element substrate, a valley along the unevenness is formed at the electrode end. Therefore, when the
Next, the cured
In the resin cutting step S113, the

As described above, in the
In the
By the way, when the
When using an adhesive containing a filler, since there is variation in the size of the filler, it is difficult to adjust the distance between the

After the pasting step S105, the
Next, the
Next, the

Next, the resin 19b is filled into the second kerf CH12 (second resin filling step: S209). As a filling method of the
Next, the resin 19b filled in the second kerf CH12 is cured (second resin curing step: S211). This step is performed in the same manner as the first resin curing step S205.

As described above, in the first modification, the first kerf CH11 is formed in the first direction on the

The
In the substrate cutting step S107, when the
In the resin filling step S109, as shown in FIG. 10B, the

Also in the second modified example, as described above, it is possible to prevent the crystal grains from falling off from the
Furthermore, in the second modified example, the

First, in each of the examples and comparative examples, a plurality of samples were prepared by bonding two element bodies made of PZT with a resin corresponding to the examples and comparative examples. The produced sample has a strip shape and has a configuration in which a bonding layer made of resin is interposed between two element bodies made of PZT. The thickness of the bonding layer of the sample is 0.1 mm, and the bonding area between the element body and the bonding layer is 2 mm 2 . Using a tensile strength tester, the bonding strength of the prepared sample body and the bonding layer was measured.
In this tensile strength test, 10 samples were prepared for each of the examples and comparative examples, and the bonding strength of each sample was measured to calculate the average value.

(Comparative example)
In the comparative example, a plurality of comparative samples 1Z were produced. The comparative example is different from Examples 1 to 3 in that a compound containing a thiol group is not contained in the resin and the resin curing process conditions are different. In the comparative example, the resin curing step is performed by heating from room temperature to 120 ° C. at a rate of temperature increase of 5 ° C./min, performing heat treatment at 120 ° C. for 2 hours, and naturally cooling to room temperature. Cured.
(Evaluation results)
About the sample using resin of each Example and Comparative Example obtained as described above, the bonding strength between the element body made of PZT and the resin functioning as a bonding layer was measured. The result is shown in FIG.
From FIG. 11, the average value of the bonding strength between the element body of sample 1A and the resin is 54 N / mm 2 , the average value of the bonding strength between the element body of sample 1B and the resin is 49 N / mm 2 , and the element body of sample 1C The average value of the bonding strength with the resin was 48 N / mm 2 . On the other hand, the average value of the bonding strength between the base body of the comparative sample 1Z as a comparative example and the resin was 24 N / mm 2 . In the samples 1A to 1C according to the example, the bonding strength between the element body and the resin was about 105% to 127% higher than that of the comparative sample 1Z according to the comparative example. Therefore, in the piezoelectric element according to the example, it was confirmed that the bonding strength between the element body and the resin was improved as compared with the piezoelectric element according to the comparative example.
Between SH of the compounds containing the thiol group of Examples 1 to 3, since high covalent bondability is exhibited, the polarization between SH is weak and acts as a soft base. Soft bases have a high affinity for soft acids. Pb having a large atomic weight contained in PZT or PLZT is a soft acid. Therefore, by including a compound containing a thiol group in the epoxy resin, it is presumed that the adhesive strength of the resins according to Examples 1 to 3 is improved with respect to the element body containing Pb as described above. In addition to the element body made of PZT and PLZT, even the element body made of a piezoelectric ceramic material containing a soft acid such as Au is estimated to improve the adhesive strength of the resins according to the first to third embodiments. The
From the measurement results of the bonding strengths of the above-described examples and comparative examples, it is considered that the same effect can be obtained for the piezoelectric element and the resin according to this embodiment.
