Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus, and more particularly to an image forming apparatus in which an image forming unit employs an ink jet recording method or an electrophotographic method.
As an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine, a printer, a facsimile machine, a plotter, a printing machine, or a multi-function machine having at least one of them, for example, a liquid discharge recording type image forming unit using a recording head that discharges ink droplets. An ink jet recording apparatus is known as an image forming apparatus provided. This liquid discharge recording type image forming apparatus means that ink droplets are transported from a recording head (not limited to paper, including OHP, and can be attached to ink droplets and other liquids). Yes, it is also ejected onto a recording medium or a recording medium, recording paper, recording paper, etc.) to form an image (recording, printing, printing, and printing are also used synonymously). And a serial type image forming apparatus that forms an image by ejecting liquid droplets while the recording head moves in the main scanning direction, and a line type head that forms images by ejecting liquid droplets without moving the recording head There are line type image forming apparatuses using
In the present application, the “image forming apparatus” of the liquid ejection method is an apparatus that forms an image by ejecting liquid onto a medium such as paper, thread, fiber, fabric, leather, metal, plastic, glass, wood, ceramics, or the like. In addition, “image formation” means not only that an image having a meaning such as a character or a figure is imparted to the medium but also an image having no meaning such as a pattern is imparted to the medium (simply liquid. It also means that a droplet hits the medium). The “ink” is not limited to what is called ink, and is not particularly limited as long as it becomes a liquid when ejected. For example, a DNA sample, a resist, a pattern material, etc. Is also included. In addition, the “image” is not limited to a planar one, but includes an image given to a three-dimensionally formed image, and an image formed by three-dimensionally modeling a solid itself.
In an image forming apparatus of a liquid ejection method, when ink is applied to a paper that is a recording medium, the surface of the paper that has absorbed the moisture of the ink expands and curls so that the paper faces in the reverse direction. In particular, when a line-type head is used for the image forming unit, a large amount of ink is ejected onto the paper at a high speed, and the amount of moisture absorbed by the paper per unit time increases. As a result, the curl of the paper increases more rapidly. Further, the amount of curl increases as the amount of ink attached to the paper increases.
The cause of these sheet deformations is that, in the ink jet recording system, hydrogen bonds in cellulose are broken by the moisture in the ink applied to the recording surface, and only the vicinity of the recording surface swells and a convex curling of the recording surface occurs. ing. In the electrophotographic system, it is said that the recording medium is deformed due to non-uniform moisture distribution in the recording medium due to heat when fixing the coloring material on the surface of the recording medium.
The paper on which the image is recorded curls, which affects subsequent conveyance. For example, if paper deformation occurs, it will not correctly pass through the transport path in the machine, causing paper jams, and in multi-function machines, positioning in post-processing steps (such as punching and stapling) will not be possible. Will occur. In addition, if the paper remains in a deformed state on the paper output tray even after it has been ejected outside the machine, it will not stack normally, and the design stack number may not be satisfied, or the recording medium may be ejected. This causes a problem such as dropping from the paper tray.
As countermeasures against such curling, (a) the water content contained in the liquid used for image formation is reduced, and (b) the paper conveyance speed is decreased to reduce the water absorption amount of the paper per unit time. (C) Measures are taken such as drying the paper using a drying means to evaporate water.

As described above, particularly in an ink jet recording type image forming apparatus, it is difficult to cause physical deformation, or reverse curling or fixing until the curl is fixed, and corrects moisture until the curl is settled. Various methods for making paper difficult to deform have been studied, such as permeation suppression, moisture distribution from the back surface, and uniform water distribution in the paper thickness direction by drying from the recording surface.
However, the method of applying the pre-coating agent requires a pre-coating agent in addition to the ink, so that the number of consumables increases and the system becomes complicated. Water application from the back surface requires energy for generating water vapor and a conducting wire to be applied, although there are no consumables. In the case of heat drying, energy for removing moisture in the ink is required, which is very inefficient.
In the physical correction means, as in
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described problems of the prior art, and the cylindrical member deforms an arc-shaped sheet opposite to the normal one without causing a discontinuous influence on the conveyance of the recording medium. An object of the present invention is to provide an image forming apparatus which can be applied to a recording medium and the deformation direction thereof can be varied according to the peripheral speed to physically suppress curling due to curling.
The present invention has the following configuration in order to achieve the above object.
An image forming apparatus according to the present invention includes a transport unit that transports a recording medium, and an image forming unit that forms an image on the recording medium using a color material for image recording. A cylindrical member that can be controlled at a speed, and the cylindrical member is controlled so as to be able to contact the recording surface of the recording medium with an arbitrary contact pressure, and the cylindrical member has a spiral outer periphery. The friction coefficient of the outer peripheral part is set so as to generate a load lower than the conveying force, and the rotational operation is controlled so that the peripheral speed of the outer peripheral part is different from the conveying speed of the recording medium. Features.
According to the present invention, in the operation of transporting a normal recording medium, the friction coefficient set so that the load during sliding between the outer peripheral portion and the recording medium is lower than the transport force is maintained, A cylindrical member having a spiral outer peripheral portion is brought into contact at a peripheral speed different from the feeding speed of the recording medium. As a result, a straight line that is an iron line is formed without discontinuously affecting the conveyance of the recording medium. For this reason, an arc-shaped deformation with the recording surface opposite to the normal inside is given to the recording medium, and the deformation direction is changed in an appropriate direction by the peripheral speed, thereby obtaining a recording medium excluding the deformation. I am doing so.
For example, when the peripheral speed of the cylindrical member is slower than the recording medium, the outer peripheral portion of the cylindrical member squeezes the recording medium in the transport direction, and the recording medium has an arc shape with the transport direction as an axis. Deformation can be added. Therefore, the recording medium can be normally stacked without spilling from the paper discharge tray, a predetermined number of stacks can be realized, and a recording medium without deformation can be provided to the user.

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. In the embodiments and modifications, components such as members and components having the same function or shape are denoted by the same reference numerals as much as possible, and once described, the description thereof is omitted.
First, an overall configuration of an image forming apparatus according to the first embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS.

図1の各記録ヘッド106には、Y、M、C、Kの各色のインクカートリッジ107y、107m、107c、107k(以下、色を区別しないときは「インクカートリッジ107」という。)
Ink is supplied from the
By performing this for each color, it is possible to perform so-called one-pass printing by only passing the
As a method for ejecting ink from each nozzle of the
As shown in FIG. 1, the
The charging
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 7, the charging
Note that the suction force according to the surface charges of the charging
これらの給紙ローラ列140r(ピックアップローラ141,給紙ローラ対142,中間搬送ローラ対145,搬送ローラ148)は、主制御部171の給紙ローラ制御機能部の制御信号sc5を受けて駆動する給紙ローラ駆動部140により駆動されている。
As shown in FIG. 1, the
The
Next, the
First, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the
The
The vertical driving means 206 and 203 are configured to receive the driving output from the
As shown in FIG. 3, the
As shown in FIG. 3, the
Here, for example, the rotation of the

On the other hand, the
As described above, the
For this reason, an arcuate deformation with the recording surface opposite to the normal inside is applied to the
As described above, when the circumferential speed Vr of the
That is, as shown in FIG. 6B, the
As described above, when the ironing line is a straight line e0 parallel to the conveyance direction r, the
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 6C, when the squeezing line is a straight line e3 orthogonal to the conveyance direction r, or a straight line e2 intersecting at an angle α2 of 45 degrees or more (for example, see FIG. 10), FIG. As shown in FIG. 6D, curling of the
In this case, when the ink liquid adheres to the upward recording surface of the
At this time, the direction and pressure of the straight lines e0 to e2 of the ironing lines change depending on the characteristics of the

In the image forming apparatus (inkjet printer) A, a drive circuit for driving itself and a detection circuit for reading sensor output are constructed, and drive control of the image forming apparatus A is performed using the drive circuit and the detection circuit. To do.

Next, a paper curl detection (fiber detection) operation of the paper in the image forming apparatus A will be described.
First, when the user feeds a
Here, for example, in the case of the Y-
Therefore, the
For example, in the example shown in FIGS. 11 to 12B, the detection position of the
In this way, data regarding the height direction positions (detection positions) of the six paper edges in total is obtained, and the fiber mesh direction (curl direction) of the
As described above, the paper
Next, the pressurizing force control process for obtaining the pressurizing force will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG. 13, and the ironing direction adjustment control will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG. 14.
Here, first, steps s1 to s4 are sequentially executed. In the pressure control for curling suppression, original image data is obtained from an image reading unit (not shown), and the recording device control unit 179 drives the
Then, the predicted deformation amount δ1 of the sheet corresponding to the ink amount data used and the predicted deformation amount δ2 due to the installation environment are added, and the pressurizing
The installation environment (temperature / humidity information) detection means should preferably monitor the environment inside the paper cassette, but if you have another means to detect the environment where the image forming device itself is installed, you can use it instead. It doesn't matter.
Thus, the deformation amount when the same image is formed may differ depending on the installation environment of the image forming apparatus A. Here, in order to cope with this, the installation environment (temperature / humidity information) of the apparatus is recognized, and the conveyance speed Vs of the
Thereafter, the control means performs the ironing direction adjustment control shown in FIG. Here, the conveying speed Vs of the
At this time, the deformation direction of the paper is predicted according to the paper-making direction of the
In this case, steps a1 to a4 are sequentially executed. First, it is discriminated whether or not it is a longitudinal eye (T eye) based on the preceding
If it is not the T-th, that is, if the Y-th generation (see FIG. 10) is generated, the squeezing streak direction adjusting
As described above, when the recording medium is the
By the way, it is assumed that the squeezing process is performed on the

Next, a second embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. In the image forming apparatus A2 according to the second embodiment, the arrangement position of the

Next, a third embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. Compared with the image forming apparatus A of the first embodiment, the image forming apparatus A3 of the third embodiment has a drum-
Thereafter, the
Next, a fourth embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. In the image forming apparatus A4 according to the fourth embodiment, a
Here, the pressurization control shown in FIG. 18 is executed. This control is substantially the same as the pressurization control described with reference to FIG. 13, and only steps s3 ′ and s4 ′ are different. In steps s3 ′ and s4 ′, the amount of toner used to form the image is calculated from the input image data. Further, the amount of heat necessary to fix the toner is calculated first, and the deformation amount δ1 of the
