Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an ESD protection device for protecting against static electricity, and more particularly to an ESD protection device provided with a discharge auxiliary electrode so as to be connected to first and second discharge electrodes.
Conventionally, various ESD protection devices have been used to protect against static electricity. For example,
By providing the discharge auxiliary electrode, the discharge start voltage can be lowered.
In the ESD protection device, it is required to further lower the discharge start voltage. Therefore, it is required to narrow the gap between the discharge electrode tips at the facing portion. That is, it is required to reduce the distance of the minimum facing distance portion.
However, when the minimum facing distance is reduced, one discharge electrode and the other discharge electrode may be short-circuited. For example, when the discharge electrodes are formed by screen printing of a conductive paste, the discharge electrodes may come into contact with each other due to variations in printing accuracy, bleeding of the conductive paste, or the like. Therefore, conventionally, there has been a limit to reducing the facing distance between the discharge electrodes.
An object of the present invention is to provide an ESD protection device capable of reducing the minimum facing distance while preventing a short circuit between discharge electrodes.

In a specific aspect of the method for manufacturing an ESD protection device according to the present invention, when the first and second discharge electrodes are formed by screen printing of a conductive paste, an opening is formed at the minimum facing distance portion in the discharge region. A screen printing mask having a shape separated from the separation portion of the auxiliary electrode is used.
In another specific aspect of the method for manufacturing an ESD protection device according to the present invention, when forming the first and second discharge electrodes by screen printing of the conductive paste, the conductive paste is applied at the minimum facing distance portion. Blot and bring to the separation.
According to the ESD protection device and the manufacturing method thereof according to the present invention, since the discharge auxiliary electrode has the separation portion, the short-circuit between the first discharge electrode and the second discharge electrode is reliably prevented at the minimum facing distance portion. The Therefore, even if the minimum facing distance is reduced, a short circuit between the first discharge electrode and the second discharge electrode can be reliably prevented, so that the discharge start voltage can be further reduced.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be clarified by describing specific embodiments of the present invention with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a schematic front sectional view showing an
The
A
In the present embodiment, the discharge
Further, in the present embodiment, a
The
The
2A is a schematic plan cross-sectional view in the
As shown in FIG. 2A, the
The facing
The discharge start voltage can be lowered as the minimum facing distance R between the
On the other hand, in this embodiment, since the discharge
In the present embodiment, the discharge
As described above, the discharge
More specifically, in the facing
In the
In the present embodiment, the
In the above embodiment, the discharge
3B and 3C are cross-sectional views corresponding to portions along the BB line and the CC line of the discharge
In the
FIGS. 4A and 4B are a plan view showing the shape of the facing portion in the ESD protection apparatus of the second embodiment and a cross-sectional view taken along the line DD in FIG. 4A.
The ESD protection apparatus of the second embodiment is different from the first embodiment in the shapes of the discharge
As shown in FIG. 4A, in the second embodiment, an H-shaped
This embodiment is different from the first embodiment in that the
However, the connecting
A method for manufacturing the ESD protection apparatus according to the first and second embodiments will be described. First, a plurality of ceramic green sheets for obtaining the
In the structure in which the facing
Moreover, you may form the
However, in the screen printing method, the edge of the printed conductive paste often spreads and spreads. Therefore, it is desirable to determine in advance the dimensions of the gaps E1 and E2, in particular, the dimensions of the gaps E1 and E2 in the above-described facing direction in consideration of the dimension that spreads due to bleeding. Thereby, the minimum facing distance R can be further reduced. That is, if the dimension of the gaps E1 and E2 in the facing direction is equal to or smaller than the dimension in which the conductive paste spreads in the facing direction by screen printing, as shown in FIG. The
Therefore, it is desirable to cause the conductive paste to bleed at the minimum facing distance portion as described above and reach the
When manufacturing the
The laminated body obtained as described above is fired to obtain a ceramic multilayer substrate. The first and second
FIG. 5 is a schematic plan view for explaining the shape of the facing portion in the ESD protection apparatus according to the third embodiment of the present invention. In the first and second embodiments, a part of the side of each of the first and
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 5, the lengthwise ends of the
Also in the third embodiment, the discharge
In each of the above embodiments, the
