Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method for demagnetizing a neodymium magnet, a rotating drum for separating neodymium magnets, and a neodymium magnet collecting apparatus that can efficiently collect a neodymium magnet from a device incorporating a neodymium magnet.
At present, magnets using a kind of rare earth called neodymium magnets are indispensable for many products, mainly motors.
Since the material value of neodymium itself is not particularly expensive compared to other rare earths, and the content of rare dysprosium that is often added is only a few percent, the value of neodymium magnets is cheap compared to precious metals. For this reason, technological development for extracting and recycling this neodymium magnet from various products and construction of a scheme for collecting and recycling were not active.
However, due to changes in the international situation over the past few years, attempts have been made to reuse rare earths.
In Patent Document 1, a magnet is demagnetized using a step of heating a motor below the melting temperature of the winding film of the motor and a step of applying a damped alternating current to the stator armature winding to generate a magnetic field. Proposes a technique for collecting magnets.
Devices with built-in neodymium magnets that are widely distributed in the market, for example, hard disk drives, are often 2.5 inch and 3.5 inch sizes.
The hard disk drive has not yet been established as a method for efficiently dismantling and separating the components, like the four items of recycled home appliances.
Hard disk drive separation methods include a method of separating only the base by manual dismantling and a method of crushing the whole as it is.
When crushed, the magnet remains in close contact with the inside of the crusher and other iron members, and it is difficult to efficiently collect the neodymium magnet.
Neodymium magnets generally have a composition in which about 65% of the component is iron, 28% is neodymium, and the remaining several percent is dysprosium.
The holding power of neodymium magnets is the strongest of all magnets. Even if a small amount of magnets are used, it is necessary to separate only neodymium magnets from products and components that use fully magnetized neodymium magnets. It is easy to induce failure and very dangerous.
Also, the neodymium magnet inside the hard disk drive is attached to iron called a yoke with an adhesive, and most of this yoke is fixed to the housing of the hard disk drive with screws. It is difficult to use and separate from other compositions, especially iron.
As a method of separating neodymium magnets from products, in general, a method of heating a magnet to a Curie temperature at which a ferromagnetic material transitions to a paramagnetic material, or a method of demagnetizing by applying an alternating attenuation magnetic field is taken. There is a method of collecting the magnet.
In order to demagnetize the neodymium magnet using a magnetic field generated in the winding by applying a current that decays with time between the terminals of the winding, it is necessary to pass a large current of about 20 KA at room temperature.
However, if a large current of 20 KA is passed through a general motor winding, the terminal or winding is instantaneously damaged and a necessary magnetic field is not generated.
Therefore, in Patent Document 1, the product is once heated and held at a temperature of 100 ° C. or 130 ° C. or lower, which is equal to or lower than the melting temperature of the winding film or the allowable refrigerant temperature, and after decreasing the magnetic flux density, between terminals. Describes a method of applying a damped alternating current and further demagnetizing.
However, also in this case, it is necessary to manage two high-energy parameters, namely temperature control and high current application, so that there is a problem that cost and labor are required for separating neodymium magnets.
This invention was made to solve such a problem, and after demagnetizing the neodymium magnet easily together with the device incorporating the neodymium magnet, it was crushed to produce the neodymium magnet and other product components. An object is to provide a method for demagnetizing a neodymium magnet, a rotating drum for separating neodymium magnets, and a neodymium magnet recovery device.

The temperature of the device incorporating the neodymium magnet is raised to a temperature of 150 to 200 degrees Celsius, and the magnetic flux density of the neodymium magnet is set to 0.6 to 1.2 T (Tesla).

It is known that a neodymium magnet has a magnetic flux density of 0 when heated to a temperature of about 320 to 340 ° C.
This temperature is called the Curie temperature.

However, if the heat treatment is performed at 150 to 200 ° C., the adhesive strength of the adhesive between the yoke and the

Therefore, it is necessary to separate and collect only fragments of the
