Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a liquid discharge head that supplies liquid to a plurality of pressure chambers from a common flow path and discharges liquid droplets from nozzles that communicate with the pressure chambers, and an image recording apparatus including the liquid discharge head.
The ink jet recording apparatus is provided with a liquid discharge head (also referred to as an ink jet head or a recording head) in which nozzles for discharging ink droplets (droplets) are arranged in a two-dimensional array. The liquid ejection head includes a common flow path to which ink (liquid) is supplied from the ink tank, a plurality of pressure chambers communicating with each nozzle, a plurality of individual flow paths communicating with each pressure chamber and the common flow path, And a piezoelectric actuator provided corresponding to each pressure chamber. The ink supplied from the ink tank into the common channel is supplied from the inlet of the individual channel opened to the wall surface of the common channel (hereinafter simply referred to as the channel inlet) into the pressure chamber through the individual channel. Is done. When the pressure chamber is deformed by the piezoelectric actuator and an ejection force is applied to the ink in the pressure chamber, an ink droplet is ejected from the nozzle.
In such a liquid discharge head, when the pressure chamber is deformed and droplets are discharged from the nozzle, bubbles mixed in the ink flowing in the common flow channel are sucked into the flow channel inlet, and the bubbles flow. In some cases, the flow path inlet is blocked by adhering to the wall surface around the road inlet. If the inlet of the flow path is blocked with bubbles, a nozzle ejection failure will occur.
Therefore, in the liquid discharge head of Patent Document 1, a flow path having a shape protruding toward the common flow path on the upper inner wall surface (the wall surface on the opposite side to the gravity direction side) among the wall surfaces forming the common flow path. An entrance is provided. Since the area of the peripheral edge portion of the opening is reduced by making the flow path inlet portion in this projecting shape, it is difficult for bubbles to adhere to the flow path inlet portion.
However, even if the channel inlet portion is formed in a protruding shape, when ink is sucked from the channel inlet portion into the pressure chamber, bubbles are sucked into the channel inlet portion to open the channel inlet portion. May adhere to. At this time, in the liquid discharge head of Patent Document 1, since the flow path inlet is provided on the upper inner wall surface, bubbles attached to the opening of the flow path inlet are buoyant in the back direction (upward) of the opening. A heading force is applied (see FIG. 7). For this reason, once a bubble is attached to the opening of the flow path inlet, it is difficult for the bubble to be separated from the opening due to buoyancy. Occur.
An object of the present invention is to provide a liquid discharge head that can further reduce the adhesion of bubbles to a flow path inlet and an image recording apparatus including the liquid discharge head.
A liquid discharge apparatus for achieving the object of the present invention includes a plurality of nozzles for discharging droplets, a plurality of pressure chambers provided in communication with each of the plurality of nozzles, and a plurality of pressure chambers. And a common flow path for supplying liquid to the plurality of pressure chambers, a pressure generating means for providing a discharge force to the liquid in the plurality of pressure chambers, and a plurality of pressures. Each of the chambers communicates with the common flow path, and is directed from the wall surface forming the common flow path into the common flow path, with respect to the liquid flow direction and the gravity direction in the common flow path. And an individual channel having a channel inlet portion protruding in the vertical direction.
According to the present invention, the buoyancy of bubbles attached to the flow path inlet can be used as a force for separating the bubbles from the flow path inlet.
The flow path inlet is preferably provided on a first wall surface parallel to the flow direction and the gravity direction among the wall surfaces forming the common flow path. The flow path inlet portion can be easily formed since the flow path inlet portion protrudes from the first wall surface in the vertical direction on the basis of the planar first wall surface.
The flow path inlet portion is provided with a space between the second wall surface located on the gravity direction side and the third wall surface facing the second wall surface among the wall surfaces forming the common flow path. It is preferable. Thereby, since the flow path inlet part can be separated from the wall surface or the corner part of the wall surface to which bubbles easily adhere, it is possible to reduce the adhesion of bubbles to the flow path inlet part.
It is preferable that the distance between the flow path inlet and the second wall surface and the distance between the flow path inlet and the third wall surface are equal. Thereby, since a flow-path inlet part can be closely approached to the center part with a quick flow rate of the liquid in a common flow path, adhesion of the bubble to a flow-path inlet part can be reduced more.
It is preferable that the distance between the flow path inlet and the second wall surface be narrower than the distance between the flow path inlet and the third wall surface. Since the bubbles move to the third wall surface side due to buoyancy, the possibility that the bubbles are present in the vicinity of the flow path inlet is reduced, and as a result, the adhesion of the bubbles to the flow path inlet can be further reduced. .
It is preferable that the channel inlet portion protrudes in the vertical direction along the second wall surface located on the gravity direction side among the wall surfaces forming the common channel. Thereby, a flow path inlet part can be formed easily.
The flow direction is preferably parallel to the horizontal direction.
The flow direction is preferably inclined with respect to the horizontal direction.
The common flow path is preferably formed in a rectangular shape in cross section perpendicular to the flow direction.
The image recording apparatus of the present invention records an image on a recording medium by the liquid ejection head while relatively moving the liquid ejection head according to any one of claims 1 to 9 and the recording medium.
In the liquid discharge head and the image recording apparatus of the present invention, the flow path inlet portion of the individual flow path is projected from the wall surface forming the common flow path in a direction perpendicular to the liquid flow direction and the gravity direction in the common flow path. Therefore, the bubbles attached to the channel inlet can be separated from the channel inlet using the buoyancy of the bubbles. Thereby, the adhesion of bubbles to the flow path inlet can be reduced.

<Configuration of Recording Head of First Embodiment>
As shown in FIG. 2, the
Each

The
A piezoelectric actuator (pressure generating means) 35 is provided on the

In addition, each
Further, both the intervals W1, W2 are adjusted to be equal intervals (including substantially equal intervals). Thereby, each flow
<Effects of First Embodiment>
As shown in FIG. 6, by projecting each
On the other hand, in FIG. 7 showing the comparative example, in the head module 40 in which the
As described above, in the head module 40 of the comparative example, the force F2 due to buoyancy acts in a direction that prevents the separation of the
On the other hand, in the head module 26 (liquid ejection head 14) of the present invention, the
In addition, each flow
Furthermore, by adjusting the intervals W1 and W2 to be equal intervals, the flow

<Configuration of Recording Head (Head Module) of Second Embodiment>
Next, a head module (liquid ejection head) 45 according to the second embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. In the
The head module 45 is basically the same as the
The
Thus, since the protruding direction of the

Next, a head module (liquid ejection head) 47 according to a third embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. In the
The head module 47 has basically the same configuration as that of the
There is a high possibility that the
As described above, there is a high possibility that the
<Configuration of Recording Head (Head Module) of Fourth Embodiment>
Next, a head module (liquid ejection head) 50 according to a fourth embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. In each of the above embodiments, each
The head module 50 has basically the same configuration as that of the
The

[Configuration example of image recording apparatus]
Next, a configuration example of an ink jet recording apparatus (hereinafter simply referred to as a recording apparatus) 100 that is an example of the
As shown in FIG. 11, the
The

A
(Processing liquid application part)
The processing
The processing

Each

The
(Drying part)
The drying
The
(Fixing part)
The fixing
As the fixing
The fixing
The fixing
The in-
According to the fixing
In addition, instead of the ink containing the high boiling point solvent and the polymer fine particles (thermoplastic resin particles), a monomer component that can be polymerized and cured by UV exposure may be contained. In this case, the
(Output section)
Subsequent to the fixing
