Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an organic EL device, an organic EL device, and an electronic apparatus.
An organic EL (electroluminescence) device has a structure in which a light emitting functional layer including a light emitting layer is sandwiched between an anode and a cathode. As a light emitting functional layer, the structure by which the positive hole transport layer, the light emitting layer, and the electron carrying layer were laminated | stacked in order from the anode side can be mentioned, for example. Then, by applying a voltage between the anode and the cathode, holes are injected from the hole transport layer and electrons are injected from the electron transport layer into the light emitting layer, and light is emitted when they recombine.
As a method for manufacturing the organic EL device, for example, a coating method with high patterning property, easy area enlargement, and high material use efficiency is used. However, although the red light emitting layer (R) and the green light emitting layer (G) in the coating method are at a practical level (for example, light emission lifetime characteristics), it is difficult to say that the blue light emitting layer (B) has reached a practical level. On the other hand, the blue light emitting layer (B) in the vapor deposition method is reaching a practical level.
Therefore, for example, as described in Patent Documents 1 to 3, the red light emitting layer (R) and the green light emitting layer (G) are formed by a coating method, and the blue light emitting layer (B) is formed of the red light emitting layer (R) and the green light emitting layer. A method of forming the entire surface including the light emitting layer (G) by vapor deposition is disclosed.
However, there is a problem in that the charge transfer is not smoothly performed between the high molecular material used in the coating method and the low molecular material used in the vapor deposition method. That is, there is a problem in that the electron injection property to the light emitting layer that is intended to excite the light emission is poor. Thereby, there existed a subject that luminous efficiency fell or lifetime fell.
SUMMARY An advantage of some aspects of the invention is to solve at least a part of the problems described above, and the invention can be implemented as the following forms or application examples. In addition, in the following forms or application examples, “above” indicates the direction in which the organic EL element is arranged when viewed from the substrate. When “above” is written, it is in contact with OO. Or when placed on top of XX via other components or partly placed on top of XX and partly placed via other components It shall represent a case.
[Application Example 1] A manufacturing method of an organic EL device according to this application example includes a first light-emitting layer coating step of forming a first light-emitting layer that emits a first color on a first anode on a substrate by a coating method; A second light-emitting layer coating step of forming a second light-emitting layer that emits a second color on the second anode on the substrate by a coating method; and an electron injection property on the first light-emitting layer and the second light-emitting layer. An intermediate layer forming step for forming an intermediate layer, and a third light emitting layer for forming a third light emitting layer for emitting a third color by a vapor deposition method in a region including the intermediate layer and the third anode on the substrate. It has a vapor deposition process and the cathode formation process which forms a cathode on the said 3rd light emitting layer, It is characterized by the above-mentioned.
According to this method, the first light-emitting layer and the second light-emitting layer formed by the coating method and the third light-emitting layer formed by the vapor deposition method are stacked via the intermediate layer having an electron injecting property. Therefore, electron injection can be promoted (secured) between the third light emitting layer and the first light emitting layer and the second light emitting layer. Therefore, electrons from the cathode can be smoothly moved from the third light emitting layer to the first light emitting layer and the second light emitting layer. As a result, the light emitting element can emit light for a long time, and the lifetime can be improved. As a result, an organic EL device having high luminous efficiency and a long lifetime can be manufactured.

According to this method, the red light emitting layer and the green light emitting layer are formed by the coating method, and the blue light emitting layer is formed by the vapor deposition method, so that the blue light emitting characteristics (for example, lifetime) can be improved. It becomes possible to approach. Therefore, the display quality of the organic EL device can be improved.
Application Example 3 In the method of manufacturing an organic EL device according to the application example, it is preferable that the third light emitting layer includes at least a layer having a hole transporting property and a layer having an electron transporting property.

According to this method, since the intermediate layer is formed by the vapor deposition method, the intermediate layer can be formed all over the substrate at once and can be formed in a uniform film quality. Moreover, since the vapor deposition method is used, the selectivity of the material used can be improved.
Application Example 10 In the method for manufacturing an organic EL device according to the application example, the coating method is preferably an ink jet method.
According to this method, since the ink jet method is used, a film can be formed by discharging droplets for each region of each light emitting layer. In other words, a functional film having functionality can be selectively formed.
Application Example 11 In the method for manufacturing an organic EL device according to the application example, it is preferable that the intermediate layer is cesium carbonate.
Application Example 12 In the method for manufacturing an organic EL device according to the application example, it is preferable to include a color conversion layer forming step of forming a color conversion layer.
According to this method, since light is output through the color conversion layer (color filter), for example, light can be colored or a mixed color can be removed. That is, light having a target wavelength distribution can be obtained.
Application Example 13 An organic EL device according to this application example has a first light-emitting layer that emits a first color formed on a first anode on a substrate by a coating method, and a second anode on the substrate. A second light-emitting layer that emits a second color formed by a coating method, and a region including the first light-emitting layer, the second light-emitting layer, and the third anode on the substrate formed by vapor deposition. A third light-emitting layer that emits a third color; and a cathode provided on the third light-emitting layer, and at least between the first light-emitting layer and the third light-emitting layer, and the second An intermediate layer having an electron injecting property is provided between the light emitting layer and the third light emitting layer.
According to this configuration, the first light-emitting layer and the second light-emitting layer formed by the coating method and the third light-emitting layer formed by the vapor deposition method are stacked via the intermediate layer having an electron injecting property. As a result, an organic EL device having high luminous efficiency and a long lifetime can be provided.
Application Example 14 In the organic EL device according to the application example, the first light emitting layer is a red light emitting layer, the second light emitting layer is a green light emitting layer, and the third light emitting layer is blue light emitting. A layer is preferred.
According to this configuration, since the red light emitting layer and the green light emitting layer are formed by the coating method and the blue light emitting layer is formed by the vapor deposition method, the blue light emitting characteristics (for example, lifetime) can be improved, and the red and green light emitting characteristics. It becomes possible to approach. Therefore, the display quality of the organic EL device can be improved.
Application Example 15 An electronic apparatus according to this application example includes an organic EL device manufactured by using the above-described organic EL device manufacturing method or the above-described organic EL device.

(First embodiment)
<Configuration of organic EL device>
FIG. 1 is an equivalent circuit diagram showing an electrical configuration of the organic EL device. Hereinafter, the configuration of the organic EL device will be described with reference to FIG. The organic EL device of the present embodiment will be described with a bottom emission structure as an example, but can also be applied to a top emission structure.
As shown in FIG. 1, the

表示領域32には、実表示領域32a(二点鎖線の内側の領域)とダミー領域32b(図中二点鎖線の外側の領域)とが設けられている。
As shown in FIG. 2, the

FIG. 3 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing the structure of the organic EL device. Hereinafter, the structure of the organic EL device will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 3 shows the cross-sectional positional relationship of each component and is represented on a scale that can be clearly shown.
As shown in FIG. 3, the
In the
Further, a transparent

The
The
Around the

Such a hole injection layer 61 can be composed of, for example, 3,4-polyethylenedioxythiophene (PEDOT-PSS) containing polystyrene sulfonic acid as a dopant.

Next, a functional liquid containing the material for the hole transport layer 62 is discharged onto the hole injection layer 61 by an ink jet method, and then the functional liquid is dried. As a functional liquid for the hole transport layer 62, for example, TFB is dissolved in a solvent. Examples of the solvent include cyclohexylbenzene.
