Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a honeycomb catalyst body. More specifically, the present invention relates to a honeycomb catalyst body having high mechanical strength, excellent exhaust gas purification performance, and low pressure loss.
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, honeycomb engines have been used in automobile engines, construction machine engines, industrial stationary engines, combustion equipment, etc., to collect particulate matter while purifying NO X and the like contained in exhaust gas discharged from them. A catalyst body is used. In this honeycomb catalyst body, a catalyst such as zeolite is supported on a honeycomb-shaped honeycomb structure made of silicon carbide, cordierite or the like.
In order to increase the contact area between the exhaust gas and the catalyst in the honeycomb catalyst body, a catalyst such as zeolite is supported on the surfaces of the partition walls that define the cells of the honeycomb structure and the pores formed in the partition walls. (For example, refer to Patent Document 1).
In the above honeycomb catalyst body, it is necessary to increase the porosity of the partition walls in order to satisfy both of supporting the catalyst on the surface of the pores of the partition walls and avoiding an increase in pressure loss during purification of exhaust gas. However, when the porosity of the partition walls is increased, sufficient mechanical strength of the honeycomb structure cannot be obtained, and sufficient mechanical strength can be obtained even for a honeycomb catalyst body obtained by supporting a catalyst on the honeycomb structure. There is no problem. Further, if the porosity of the partition wall is too large, it is difficult to satisfy the regulation value (“Euro VI: 6 × 10 11 ”) of particulate matter (Particle number (PN)) in a state where no catalyst is supported. It is. That is, there is a possibility that the particulate matter cannot be sufficiently collected. Further, if the porosity of the partition walls is increased, the catalyst (slurry containing the catalyst) can easily enter the pores when the catalyst is supported, but it is not easy to reliably support the catalyst on the surface of the pores. End up.
The present invention has been made in view of such problems of the prior art. The object is to provide a honeycomb catalyst body having high mechanical strength, excellent exhaust gas purification performance, and low pressure loss.
According to the present invention, the following honeycomb catalyst body is provided.
[1] A honeycomb structure having a porous partition wall defining a plurality of cells serving as exhaust gas flow paths extending from an inflow side end surface to an outflow side end surface, and an opening of a predetermined cell on the outflow side end surface An inflow side plugging portion forming an inflow cell in which the inflow side end surface is open and the outflow side end surface is sealed, and an opening portion of a remaining cell in the inflow side end surface; An inflow side plugging portion that forms an outflow cell having an open end surface on the outflow side and a sealed end surface on the inflow side; and a catalyst that purifies the exhaust gas that is formed on the surface of the partition wall on the outflow cell side. The honeycomb structure has the inflow cells and the outflow cells alternately arranged with the partition walls interposed therebetween, and the plurality of cells have the outflow cells. In the cell's extending direction The opening area in the straight section is configured to be larger than the opening area in the section perpendicular to the cell extending direction of the inflow cell, and the porosity of the partition walls of the honeycomb structure is 25 to 25. 55%, the catalyst layer is not formed on the surface of the partition wall on the inflow cell side, and the catalyst layer is not formed on the surface of the pores in the partition wall, or the pores in the partition wall The total area of the catalyst layer formed on the surface of the pores in the partition walls in a cross section parallel to the cell extending direction is the total area of the pores in the partition walls. A honeycomb catalyst body of 5% or less.
[2] The honeycomb catalyst body according to [1], wherein the porosity of the catalyst layer is 20 to 80%.
[3] In the above [1] or [2], the opening area of the outflow cell is 1.01 to 2.5 times the opening area of the inflow cell before the catalyst layer is formed. The honeycomb catalyst body according to the description.
[4] The opening area of the outflow cell after the catalyst layer is formed with respect to the opening area of the inflow cell is 95 to 125% according to any one of [1] to [3]. Honeycomb catalyst body.
[5] The honeycomb catalyst body according to any one of [1] to [4], wherein an opening area of the outflow cell after the formation of the catalyst layer and an opening area of the inflow cell are the same.
[6] The honeycomb catalyst body according to any one of [1] to [5], wherein the partition wall has a thickness of 102 to 254 μm.
[7] The honeycomb catalyst body according to any one of [1] to [6], wherein the catalyst layer has a thickness of 20 to 300 μm.
Since the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention has a partition wall porosity of 25 to 55%, the mechanical strength is high. In addition, the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention is excellent in exhaust gas purification performance because a porous catalyst layer having a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas is formed. Furthermore, in the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention, the catalyst layer is not formed on the surface of the pores in the partition walls. Alternatively, even if the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention is formed on the surface of the pores in the partition walls, the total area of the catalyst layer formed on the surface of the pores in the partition walls in a cross section parallel to the cell extending direction. However, it is 5% or less of the total area of the pores in the partition wall. Therefore, the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention can avoid a narrow exhaust gas flow path caused by supporting the catalyst on the surface of the pores, so that the pressure loss is small. Further, in the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention, in the plurality of cells, the opening area in the cross section perpendicular to the cell extending direction of the outflow cell (outflow cell before the catalyst layer is formed) is the cell of the inflow cell. It is comprised so that it may become larger than the opening area in the cross section perpendicular | vertical to the extending direction. Therefore, even if a catalyst layer is formed in the outflow cell, it is difficult for pressure loss to increase. Therefore, a catalyst layer sufficient to purify NO x and the like can be formed on the surface of the outflow cell (in the outflow cell). . As a result, it is possible to ensure excellent purification performance of exhaust gas.

FIG. 2 is a plan view schematically showing an enlarged part of the outflow side end face of one embodiment of the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention. FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view schematically showing a cross section parallel to the cell extending direction of one embodiment of the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention.
The honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention includes a part for purifying exhaust gas (that is, a catalyst) and a part having a function capable of maintaining the mechanical strength and satisfying the emission regulation value of PN ( That is, the role is shared with the honeycomb structure. That is, the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention is provided with a part (partition wall) having a function as a filter for collecting PN and a part (catalyst layer) for purifying exhaust gas separately from the partition wall. Excellent strength and exhaust gas purification performance and small pressure loss.
Specifically, the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention has sufficient mechanical strength against the pressure applied during canning because the partition walls of the honeycomb structure have a low porosity (25 to 55%). Moreover, since it has a low porosity (25 to 55%), the partition wall can be made thin (about 102 to 254 μm). Since the partition walls of the honeycomb structure have a low porosity (25 to 55%), PN in the exhaust gas can be reliably collected.
That is, in the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention, the catalyst is not substantially supported on the surface of the pores in the partition walls (the catalyst layer is not formed). Therefore, it is possible to avoid that the exhaust gas flow path is not narrow due to the catalyst being carried on the surface of the pores, so that the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention has a small pressure loss. In the cross section parallel to the cell extending direction, the ratio of the “total area of the catalyst layer formed on the surface of the pores in the partition walls” in the total area of the pores in the partition walls is a value calculated as follows. . That is, by taking an image of an arbitrary plurality (for example, 10 locations) of the partition wall in a cross section parallel to the cell extending direction, analyzing the taken image, and measuring the area of the pores and the catalyst layer in the image It is a calculated value. The range (size) of the image is 500 μm × 500 μm.
That is, if the opening area of the inflow cell and the opening area of the outflow cell are the same, when the catalyst layer is formed on the surface of the partition wall on the outflow cell side, the opening area on the outflow cell side is increased by the amount of the catalyst layer. It gets smaller. Therefore, in order to suppress the increase in pressure loss, it is necessary to adopt a method such as thinning the catalyst layer. However, when the catalyst layer is made thin, there is a problem that the exhaust gas purification performance is lowered. Therefore, with the above configuration, it is possible to ensure an excellent purification performance of exhaust gas while preventing an increase in pressure loss.
Further, in order to regenerate the honeycomb catalyst body, the soot accumulated in the honeycomb catalyst body may be burned. In this case, the soot becomes a high temperature in the honeycomb catalyst body. At this time, if the high-temperature soot and the catalyst (catalyst layer) are in contact, the catalyst may be deteriorated (specifically, the catalyst may be denatured by the high-temperature soot). Here, in the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention, the soot stays in the inflow cell, and there is a partition wall separating the soot and the catalyst. Thus, the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention can be isolated so that the soot and the catalyst are not in direct contact. Since the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention separates the soot and the catalyst as described above, the heat of the soot that has reached a high temperature can be prevented from being directly transmitted to the catalyst. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the catalyst from deteriorating due to high-temperature heat generated when soot burns.
[1-1] Honeycomb structure:

In the honeycomb structure, outflow cells and inflow cells are alternately arranged with partition walls therebetween. And either end part of the honeycomb structure is sealed with a plugging portion (outflow side plugging portion, inflow side plugging portion). For example, the
The opening area in the cross section perpendicular to the extending direction of the
The opening area of the outflow cell before the catalyst layer is formed (before the catalyst is loaded) is preferably 1.01 to 2.5 times, and 1.2 to 2.5 times the opening area of the inflow cell. More preferably, it is particularly preferably 1.4 to 2.5 times. When the size of the opening area of the outflow cell is within the above range with respect to the opening area of the inflow cell, it is possible to prevent an increase in pressure loss after forming the catalyst layer. If it is less than the lower limit, the flow path of the outflow cell is narrowed when the catalyst layer is supported, and the pressure loss may increase. If it exceeds the above upper limit value, the opening area of the inflow cell becomes relatively small, so that the flow path of the inflow cell is narrowed and the pressure loss may increase. As will be described later, the catalyst layer is formed such that the opening area of the inflow cell is 95 to 125% with respect to the opening area of the outflow cell after the formation of the catalyst layer. In addition, the opening area of an outflow cell and an inflow cell is a value measured as follows. That is, first, the honeycomb catalyst body is cut in a direction orthogonal to the cell extending direction. Next, in this cut section, a plurality of arbitrary images (for example, 10 positions) are taken, and the taken images are subjected to image analysis, and the ratio of the opening (area ratio) before the catalyst is loaded, and the partition walls The aperture ratio was calculated from the total ratio of the ratio of the sealing portion (total ratio of the area). The range of the image is 3 mm × 3 mm. After the catalyst was loaded, the opening ratio was calculated from the ratio of the opening and the total ratio of the catalyst in addition to the partition walls and the plugged portions.
As described above, the porosity of the
The thickness of the
The thickness of the

Even when a catalyst layer is formed on the surface of the pores in the partition wall, the entire catalyst layer is formed in a region from the surface on the outflow cell side of the partition wall to 10% of the partition wall thickness. It is preferable that If the catalyst layer is formed beyond the region, the pressure loss of the honeycomb catalyst body may increase.

The thickness of the
The thickness of the catalyst layer is preferably within the above range, but can be appropriately set depending on the application of the honeycomb catalyst body, and the opening area of the outflow cell and the opening of the inflow cell after the catalyst layer is formed. The area is preferably determined so as to be equal.

Examples of the catalyst constituting the catalyst layer include zeolite, V 2 O 5 , CeO 2 , ZrO 2 and the like. By using zeolite as the catalyst, NO x in the exhaust gas can be purified well. Among zeolites, it is preferable to use Fe zeolite, Cu zeolite, or the like.
The amount of the catalyst supported is preferably 10 to 300 g / l, more preferably 50 to 300 g / l, and particularly preferably 100 to 300 g / l. By setting the amount of catalyst supported in the above range, it is possible to achieve the required purification performance and suppress an increase in pressure loss. If the supported amount of catalyst is less than 10 g / l, the required purification performance may not be achieved. If the amount of the catalyst supported is greater than 300 g / l, the catalyst layer may reduce the opening area of the outflow cell, which may increase the pressure loss. The amount of catalyst supported is a value calculated from the difference in measured mass by measuring the mass of the honeycomb catalyst body before and after catalyst loading.
The density of the catalyst is preferably 0.5 to 2.0 g / ml, and more preferably 0.75 to 1.5 g / ml. By setting the density of the catalyst within the above range, there is an advantage that the purification performance of exhaust gas can be favorably maintained while suppressing an increase in pressure loss. If the density of the catalyst is less than 0.5 g / ml, the exhaust gas purification performance may be reduced. When the density of the catalyst is larger than 2.0 g / ml, the pressure loss of the

The

[2] Manufacturing method of honeycomb catalyst body:
A method for manufacturing the honeycomb catalyst body of the present invention will be described. First, a kneaded material for producing a honeycomb structure is prepared, and this kneaded material is formed to produce a honeycomb formed body (forming step). In the honeycomb formed body to be produced, two types of cells (outflow cells and inflow cells) having different opening areas in a cross section perpendicular to the cell extending direction are alternately formed with partition walls. The shape, size (cross-sectional area), etc. of each cell can be appropriately determined according to the preferred example of the cell described in the honeycomb structure described above. If necessary, the honeycomb formed body can be dried to obtain a dried honeycomb body.
Next, the obtained honeycomb formed body (or the dried honeycomb dried body as necessary) is fired to prepare a honeycomb structure (honeycomb structure manufacturing step).
Next, an opening of a predetermined cell including the outflow cell and the inflow cell at one end (inflow side end) of the honeycomb formed body, and an outflow cell and an inflow cell at the other end (outflow side end) Plugging is performed on the openings of the remaining cells. In this way, the inflow side plugged portion and the outflow side plugged portion are formed (plugging step). In this way, a plugged honeycomb structure can be obtained.
Next, the catalyst slurry containing the catalyst is poured only into the outflow cell of the obtained plugged honeycomb structure to form a catalyst coat layer made of the catalyst slurry on the surface of the partition wall. Thereafter, the catalyst coat layer is dried to form a catalyst layer on the surface of the partition wall on the outflow cell side. In this way, a honeycomb catalyst body can be manufactured. Hereinafter, each manufacturing process will be described in more detail.
[2-1] Molding process:
First, in the forming step, a ceramic forming raw material containing a ceramic raw material is formed to form a honeycomb formed body in which a plurality of cells serving as fluid flow paths are formed.
As the ceramic raw material contained in the ceramic forming raw material, silicon carbide (SiC), silicon-silicon carbide based composite material formed using silicon carbide (SiC) as an aggregate and silicon (Si) as a binder, silicon nitride, Examples thereof include cordierite-forming raw materials, cordierite, mullite, alumina, titania, silicon carbide, and aluminum titanate. And at least one selected from the group consisting of silicon carbide (SiC), silicon-silicon carbide based composite material, cordierite forming raw material, cordierite, mullite, alumina, titania, silicon carbide, and aluminum titanate. Is preferred. The “cordierite raw material” is a ceramic raw material blended so as to have a chemical composition that falls within the range of 42 to 56% by mass of silica, 30 to 45% by mass of alumina, and 12 to 16% by mass of magnesia. It is fired to become cordierite.
The ceramic forming raw material is preferably prepared by mixing the ceramic raw material with a dispersion medium, an organic binder, an inorganic binder, a pore former, a surfactant and the like. The composition ratio of each raw material is not particularly limited, and is preferably a composition ratio in accordance with the structure and material of the honeycomb structure to be manufactured.
When forming the ceramic forming raw material, it is preferable to first knead the forming raw material to form a kneaded material, and the obtained kneaded material is formed into a honeycomb shape. There is no restriction | limiting in particular as a method of kneading | mixing a shaping | molding raw material and forming a clay, For example, the method of using a kneader, a vacuum clay kneader, etc. can be mentioned. A method for forming a kneaded clay to form a honeycomb formed body is not particularly limited, and a conventionally known forming method such as extrusion molding or injection molding can be used. For example, a method of forming a honeycomb formed body by extrusion molding using a die having a desired cell shape, partition wall thickness, and cell density can be cited as a suitable example. As the material of the die, a cemented carbide which does not easily wear is preferable.
The shape of the honeycomb formed body is not particularly limited, and is a cylindrical shape (columnar shape), a cross section orthogonal to the central axis is an elliptical shape, a race track shape, a triangular shape such as a triangular shape, a rectangular shape, a pentagonal shape, a hexagonal shape or an octagonal shape. Examples include a shape (columnar shape). When the honeycomb structure to be manufactured is formed by joining a plurality of honeycomb segments, the shape of the honeycomb molded body is a triangle, a quadrangle, a pentagon, a hexagonal cross section perpendicular to the central axis, A polygonal cylindrical shape (columnar shape) such as an octagon is preferable. This is because it becomes easy to combine these to form one honeycomb structure.
Further, as described above, the obtained honeycomb formed body may be dried after forming. The drying method is not particularly limited, and examples thereof include hot air drying, microwave drying, dielectric drying, reduced pressure drying, vacuum drying, and freeze drying. Among these, it is preferable to perform dielectric drying, microwave drying, or hot air drying alone or in combination.
[2-2] Honeycomb structure manufacturing process:
Next, the obtained honeycomb formed body is fired to obtain a honeycomb structure. The honeycomb formed body may be fired after disposing the plugging portions on the honeycomb formed body.
Further, before firing (main firing) the honeycomb formed body, it is preferable to calcine the honeycomb formed body. The calcination is performed for degreasing, and the method is not particularly limited as long as the organic matter (organic binder, dispersant, pore former, etc.) therein can be removed. In general, the combustion temperature of the organic binder is about 100 to 300 ° C., and the combustion temperature of the pore former is about 200 to 800 ° C. Therefore, the calcining conditions are about 200 to 1000 ° C. in an oxidizing atmosphere, 3 to It is preferable to heat for about 100 hours.
Firing of the honeycomb formed body (main firing) is performed in order to sinter and densify the forming raw material constituting the calcined formed body to ensure a predetermined strength. Since the firing conditions (temperature, time, atmosphere) vary depending on the type of molding raw material, appropriate conditions may be selected according to the type. For example, when silicon carbide (SiC) is used, the firing temperature is preferably 1200 to 1500 ° C. Further, the firing time is preferably 1 to 5 hours as the keep time at the maximum temperature. Moreover, when the cordierite-forming raw material is used, the firing temperature is preferably 1410 to 1440 ° C. In addition, the firing time is preferably 4 to 6 hours as a keep time at the maximum temperature.
When the honeycomb catalyst body is composed of a plurality of honeycomb segments, the plurality of honeycomb formed bodies or the fired honeycomb formed bodies are bonded together with a bonding material in a state where they are arranged adjacent to each other so that the side surfaces thereof face each other. To do. A conventionally known bonding material can be used as the bonding material.
[2-3] Plugging step:
Next, the opening portion on the outflow side end surface of the predetermined cell of the honeycomb structure and the opening portion on the inflow side end surface of the remaining cells are filled with the plugging material, and the inflow side plugging portion and the outflow side plug are filled. A sealing portion is formed.
When filling the honeycomb structure with the plugging material, first, the plugging material is filled on one end side, and then the plugging material is filled on the other end side. As a method of filling the plugging material on one end side, a method having the following masking process and press-fitting process can be exemplified. The masking step is a step in which a sheet is attached to one end face (for example, the inflow side end face) of the honeycomb structure, and a hole is formed at a position overlapping the “cell in which the plugging portion is to be formed” in the sheet. The press-fitting process involves press-fitting the plugging material into the cells of the honeycomb structure by pressing the “end of the honeycomb structure on the side where the sheet is attached” into the container in which the plugging material is stored. It is a process to do. When the plugging material is press-fitted into the cells of the honeycomb structure, the plugging material passes through the holes formed in the sheet and is filled only in the cells communicating with the holes formed in the sheet.
Next, the plugging material filled in the honeycomb structure is dried to form plugged portions, thereby obtaining a plugged honeycomb structure. The plugging material may be dried after filling both ends of the honeycomb structure, or after the plugging material filled in one end of the honeycomb structure is dried. The other end portion may be filled with a plugging material, and then the other end portion may be dried. Furthermore, the plugging material may be fired for the purpose of more reliably fixing. Further, the plugging material may be filled in the honeycomb formed body before drying or the dried honeycomb formed body, and the plugging material may be fired together with the honeycomb formed body before drying or the honeycomb formed body after drying.
[2-4] Catalyst loading step:
Next, the catalyst slurry containing the catalyst is poured only into the outflow cell of the obtained plugged honeycomb structure to form a catalyst coat layer made of the catalyst slurry on the surface of the partition wall. Note that the higher the viscosity of this catalyst slurry, the easier it is to enter the pores of the partition walls. Therefore, the catalyst coat layer is formed only on the surface of the partition wall. Thereafter, the catalyst coat layer is dried to form a catalyst layer on the surface of the partition wall on the outflow cell side. As described above, the honeycomb catalyst body can be manufactured.
The drying conditions for the catalyst coat layer can be, for example, 400 to 600 ° C. for 1 to 10 hours.
The viscosity of the catalyst slurry can be, for example, 1.5 to 2.5 Pa · s.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be specifically described based on examples. The present invention is not limited to these examples.
Example 1
As a honeycomb segment raw material, SiC powder and metal Si powder are mixed at a mass ratio of 80:20, starch and foamed resin are added as a pore-forming agent, and methylcellulose and hydroxypropoxylmethylcellulose, a surfactant and water are added. Thus, a plastic clay was produced. This kneaded material was extruded to obtain 16 honeycomb segment molded bodies. In this honeycomb segment formed body, octagonal cells (outflow cells) and quadrangular cells (inflow cells) were alternately formed across the partition walls in a cross section perpendicular to the cell extending direction.
The obtained honeycomb segment formed body was dried, degreased at 400 ° C. in an air atmosphere, and then fired at 1450 ° C. in an Ar inert atmosphere. A honeycomb segment was thus obtained.
Further, the overall shape of the honeycomb segment formed body was a regular quadrangular prism.
Next, a mask was applied to the end surfaces (inflow side end surface and outflow side end surface) of the honeycomb segment molded body. At this time, cells with masks and cells without masks were alternately arranged. Specifically, a mask in which no hole was formed was applied to the end face, and a hole was formed in a portion of the mask that closed a cell where a plugging portion was to be formed. And the edge part by which the mask was given was immersed in the plugging slurry (plugging material), and the opening part of the cell in which the mask was not given was filled with the plugging slurry. As a result, a plugged honeycomb segment formed body in which plugging slurry was disposed in the opening on the inflow side end face of the predetermined cell and the opening on the outflow side end face of the remaining cells was obtained. As the plugging slurry, a slurry containing the same material as the honeycomb segment raw material was used.
Next, the plugged honeycomb segment formed body was degreased by heating at 450 ° C. for 5 hours, and further fired by heating at 1425 ° C. for 7 hours to obtain a plugged honeycomb segment. The plugged honeycomb segment had a partition wall thickness of 152 μm. Further, the plugged honeycomb segment had one end face of 36 mm and a length in the cell extending direction of 152.4 mm. The plugged honeycomb segment had a partition wall porosity of 40%. The average pore diameter of the partition walls was 10 μm. The cell density was 47 cells / cm 2 .
Next, these plugged honeycomb segments were bonded with a bonding material in a state in which the plugged honeycomb segments were arranged adjacent to each other so as to face each other. Specifically, first, a bonding material composition is applied to the side surface of one plugged honeycomb segment to form a bonding material layer, and another plugged honeycomb segment is placed on the bonding material layer. did. This process was repeated to obtain 4 × 4 horizontal honeycomb segment bonded bodies. Then, after cutting the outer periphery of the joined honeycomb segment assembly into a cylindrical shape, a coating material was applied to the outer periphery and dried and cured at 700 ° C. for 2 hours. In this way, a plugged honeycomb structure was obtained. In the obtained plugged honeycomb structure, the opening area of the inflow cell was 4683 mm 2 , and the opening area of the outflow cell was 6998 mm 2 . Further, the opening area of the inflow cell with respect to the opening area of the outflow cell before the formation of the catalyst layer (referred to as “open ratio before catalyst loading (%)” in Table 1) was 66.9%. . The measurement results are shown in Table 1.
Next, a catalyst slurry containing Fe zeolite as a catalyst was poured only into the outflow cells (octagonal cells) of the obtained plugged honeycomb structure, and a catalyst coat layer was formed on the surface of the partition walls on the outflow cell side. . Thereafter, the honeycomb catalyst body was produced by drying at 450 ° C. for 2 hours.
The produced honeycomb catalyst body had an opening area of the outflow cell of 4683 mm 2 after the catalyst layer was formed. Moreover, the opening area of the inflow cell with respect to the opening area of the outflow cell after the formation of the catalyst layer (referred to as “opening ratio after catalyst loading (%)” in Table 1) was 100.0%. . The produced honeycomb catalyst body had a catalyst layer thickness of 134 μm. The porosity of the catalyst layer was 68%. The average pore diameter of the catalyst layer was 5 μm. The supported amount of catalyst was 123.0 g / l. The density of the catalyst was 0.8 g / ml. The volume occupied by the entire catalyst layer in the entire honeycomb catalyst body (referred to as “volume occupied by the catalyst layer” in Table 2) was 380.4 ml. The porosity of the partition walls was smaller than the porosity of the catalyst layer. Moreover, the catalyst layer was not formed on the surface of the pores in the partition walls. That is, the ratio of the total area of the catalyst layer formed on the surface of the pores in the partition wall to the total area of the pores in the partition wall was 0% (in Table 2, “the ratio of the catalyst layer on the pore surface ( %) "). The measurement results are shown in Tables 1 and 2.
About the produced honeycomb catalyst body, the following evaluations ([mechanical strength], [catalyst carrying performance] [initial pressure loss], [pressure loss after soot (4 g / l)], [collecting performance], [ NO X purification performance], and was [comprehensive evaluation]).
[Mechanical strength]:
With respect to the plugged honeycomb structure before supporting the catalyst, the mechanical strength (A-axis compressive strength) is measured as follows (referred to as “mechanical strength” in Table 3). The A-axis compressive strength is a compressive strength (MPa) defined in JASO standard M505-87, which is an automobile standard issued by the Japan Society for Automotive Engineers. Specifically, a sample (small honeycomb structure) having a diameter of 25.4 mm and a height of 25.4 mm was cut out from the plugged honeycomb structure. Thereafter, a compressive load was applied in the flow path direction of this sample (small honeycomb structure). The pressure when the sample was destroyed was defined as “A-axis compressive strength (mechanical strength)”.
