Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a display device, and more particularly to a display device including a highly reliable flexible wiring board.
The liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel and a backlight unit provided on the back side thereof. The backlight unit has a configuration in which a surface light source, an optical sheet, a reflection sheet, and the like are arranged inside the housing.
The liquid crystal display panel includes a pair of substrates that sandwich a liquid crystal layer and a polarizing plate that is attached to each surface of the two substrates. A flexible wiring board for driving liquid crystal is attached to the liquid crystal display panel. In addition to the flexible wiring board for driving the liquid crystal, for example, a flexible wiring board for a touch panel sensor is provided on the touch panel, and a flexible wiring board for the backlight LED is provided on the backlight unit as necessary. The flexible wiring board provided on the substrate is bent on the back surface to reduce the size of the liquid crystal display device or reduce the frame size, and is attached to, for example, a frame member (bezel) that fixes the backride unit or the display panel. (For example, Patent Document 1).
By the way, in the process of affixing the flexible wiring board to the surface of the frame member, the attaching position of the flexible wiring board may be shifted, and the operator may peel off the once affixed flexible wiring board and affix it again.
However, once the flexible wiring board that has been pasted is peeled off, the wiring provided on the flexible wiring board may be partially disconnected due to the influence of tensile stress when it is peeled off. The half-broken wiring is often not detected as an abnormality at the time of operation confirmation before shipment, but after shipment, it is easy to break due to the use environment, stress migration, etc., and causes a malfunction in circuit operation.
Also, if the flexible wiring board that has been pasted is peeled off and pasted again, the adhesive strength of the double-sided tape that adheres the flexible wiring board decreases, and the flexible wiring board is peeled off from the frame member, causing a short circuit with other components. There is also a risk of ending up.
Therefore, the reliability of the liquid crystal display device is lowered by removing the flexible wiring board that has been pasted and then pasting it again. In order to suppress this, when the operator re-attaches the flexible wiring board, it can be detected as having an abnormality in the inspection process before shipment, and it is determined that there is an abnormality (that is, the flexible wiring board It is desirable to exclude the liquid crystal display device (which has been determined to have been pasted again).
It is an object of the present invention to provide a highly reliable display device by enabling an operator to detect that there is an abnormality in an inspection process before shipment when an operator re-attaches a flexible wiring board.
The display device of the present invention that solves the above problems includes a display panel having electrode wiring,
A frame member covering the back side of the display panel;
A flexible wiring board in which a base film and a coverlay are laminated, and a plurality of wirings are formed between the base film and the coverlay;
Have
One end of the flexible wiring board is connected to the electrode wiring of the display panel,
The other end side of the flexible wiring board is folded so that the cover lay faces the frame member, and is adhered to the surface of the frame member opposite to the display panel,
In the bonding portion between the flexible wiring board and the frame member, the cover lay of the flexible wiring board is formed with an opening that exposes at least one of the plurality of wirings on the surface of the flexible wiring board.
The wiring exposed from the opening is bonded to the frame member.
According to the above configuration, at the adhesive portion between the flexible wiring board and the frame member, at least one of the plurality of wirings is exposed on the surface of the flexible wiring board from the opening of the coverlay, and from the opening. Since the exposed wiring is bonded to the frame member, when an operator tries to peel off the flexible wiring board that has already been attached to the frame member, the external force to be peeled off and the adhesive acting in the opposite direction. The wiring exposed from the opening is disconnected due to the force. And when the flexible wiring board which the said wiring disconnected is affixed again, the disconnection of wiring is discovered by the electricity supply inspection in product inspections before shipment. Therefore, if a disconnection of the wiring is detected at the opening of the cover lay in the inspection process before shipment, the flexible wiring board has been reattached in the flexible wiring board attaching process, that is, once attached. When the flexible wiring board is peeled off, it is presumed that problems other than the wiring exposed from the opening of the cover lay have caused problems such as half-breaking and that the adhesive strength of the flexible wiring board has decreased. . Therefore, a display device with high reliability can be shipped by making an abnormality in the wiring exposed from the opening of the cover lay in the inspection process in which the disconnection is detected.
In this case, in the display device of the present invention, it is preferable that the wiring exposed on the surface of the flexible wiring board from the opening of the cover lay is a dummy wiring that is not connected to the electrode wiring on the display panel.
According to the above configuration, since the dummy wiring is not connected to the electrode wiring on the display panel, the wiring is not covered by the cover lay, and is exposed to the surface of the flexible wiring board from the cover lay opening. Even if it is damaged by this, the operation of the display panel is not affected.
In this case, it is preferable that electrode terminals that can be inspected from the outside are provided at both ends of the dummy wiring.
According to said structure, it can test | inspect whether the disconnection has arisen in dummy wiring by carrying out an electricity supply inspection using an electrode terminal in an inspection process.
Moreover, in the display device of the present invention having the above-described configuration, it is preferable that the opening of the cover lay be formed at a position overlapping the outermost wiring of the plurality of wirings of the flexible wiring board.
According to said structure, since the opening part of a coverlay is formed in the position which overlaps with the outermost wiring among the said several wirings of the said flexible wiring board, so that an opening part may overlap with an inner side wiring Compared to the case where it is formed, when an attempt is made to peel off a flexible wiring board once attached to a frame member, disconnection is likely to occur due to an external force to be peeled off and an adhesive force acting in the opposite direction. Become.
In addition, a display device of the present invention that solves the above problems includes a display panel having electrode wiring,
A frame member covering the back side of the display panel;
A flexible wiring board in which a base film and a coverlay are laminated, and a plurality of wirings are formed between the base film and the coverlay;
Have
One end of the flexible wiring board is connected to the electrode wiring of the display panel,
The other end side of the flexible wiring board is folded so that the cover lay faces the frame member, and is adhered to the surface of the frame member opposite to the display panel,
In the bonding portion between the flexible wiring board and the frame member, a plurality of openings are formed in the coverlay of the flexible wiring board,
At least two of the openings of the plurality of coverlays are formed so as to be adjacent to each other with an interval of 50 to 200 μm,
An opening is formed in the base film of the flexible wiring board so as not to overlap with the plurality of wirings,
The opening of the base film may be formed at a position overlapping with at least two adjacent openings of the coverlay.
According to the above configuration, at least two of the openings of the plurality of coverlays are formed adjacent to each other with an interval of 50 to 200 μm in the bonding portion between the flexible wiring board and the frame member. When an operator tries to peel off the flexible wiring board once attached to the frame member, it is peeled off into a narrow portion having a width of 50 to 200 μm sandwiched between two or more openings in the coverlay. When the external force and the adhesive force acting in the opposite direction work simultaneously, the narrow portion is broken. And when the flexible wiring board in which the narrow portion of the coverlay is broken is attached again, the opening is formed in the base film at a position overlapping with at least two adjacent openings of the coverlay. In the product inspection process before shipment, the broken portion is found by appearance inspection. Therefore, in the inspection process before shipment, when the break of the narrow portion having a width of 50 to 200 μm sandwiched between two or more openings in the cover lay is detected, the flexible wiring is attached in the flexible wiring board attaching process. That the board has been re-applied, that is, when the flexible wiring board that has been pasted once is peeled off, there is a problem such as a half-break in the wiring on the flexible wiring board in addition to the breakage of the narrow portion It is estimated that the adhesive strength of the flexible wiring board is reduced. Accordingly, a highly reliable display device is shipped by abnormally detecting a break in a narrow portion having a width of 50 to 200 μm sandwiched between two or more openings at the stage of the inspection process. Can do.
In this case, in the display device of the present invention, it is preferable that the opening of the cover lay is formed at a position further outside the outermost wiring among the plurality of wirings of the flexible wiring board.
According to said structure, since the opening part of a coverlay is formed in the outermost position rather than the outermost wiring among these wirings of the said flexible wiring board, an opening part is wiring and wiring. Compared to the case where it is formed in between, when you try to peel off the flexible wiring board once attached to the frame member, it is narrow due to the external force that you want to peel off and the adhesive force that works in the opposite direction The rupture of the shaped part tends to occur.
According to the present invention, when an operator tries to peel off the flexible wiring board once attached, at least one of the plurality of wirings is provided on the cover lay of the flexible wiring board at the bonding portion between the flexible wiring board and the frame member. Is formed on the surface of the flexible wiring board, the wiring exposed from the opening of the cover lay is disconnected. When at least two of the openings of the plurality of coverlays are formed so as to be adjacent to each other with an interval of 50 to 200 μm, the

(Effect of Embodiment 1)
One
Once the
For this reason, in the inspection process (energization inspection) before product shipment, the energization state of the

As in the first embodiment, the liquid
In the folded
As shown in FIG. 9A, the inspection portion T has a plurality of coverlay openings 58 (two in FIG. 9A) formed by opening the
The
In the
The shapes of the cover lay
The cover lay
(FPC production)
Next, a method for manufacturing the
First, a polyimide film (for example, a thickness of about 25 μm) to be a
Next, a copper thin film is formed on the polyimide film to be the
(Effect of Embodiment 2)
One
Once the
For this reason, whether or not the
Further, in the
<変形例1>
<Modification 1>
In the first embodiment, it has been described that one
According to the configuration of the first modification, for example, even when the
<変形例2>
<Modification 2>
In the first embodiment, it has been described that only the
According to the configuration of the modified example 2, a base film opening is formed in addition to the
<変形例3>
<Modification 3>
In the second embodiment, it has been described that the size of the base film opening 59 and the size of the two
<変形例4〜6>
<Modifications 4 to 6>
In the second embodiment, it has been described that the two cover lay
For example, as shown as Modification 4 in FIGS. 15 and 16, the
Moreover, as shown as the modification 5 in FIG.17 and FIG.18, the three cover-
Further, as shown as Modification 6 in FIGS. 19 and 20, the four cover lay
