Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an electric vehicle. The electric vehicle in this specification includes a fuel cell vehicle and a hybrid vehicle that includes both a motor and an engine for traveling.
Motors for running electric vehicles have a large rated output of several tens of kilowatts. Therefore, a voltage converter, an inverter, and the like for driving the traveling motor handle a large current. The electric circuit between the battery and the motor for driving, such as a voltage converter and an inverter, is provided with a capacitor for smoothing the current supplied to the motor, and a capacitor having a large capacity is adopted. .
When the vehicle collides, if the electric power stored in the capacitor leaks, it may affect other devices. Therefore, it is desirable that the electric vehicle includes a device that discharges the capacitor. For discharging the capacitor, for example, a resistance (discharge resistance) having a large electric resistance and high heat resistance is used. When the electric power of the capacitor is passed through such an electric resistance, the electric energy is converted into heat energy and dissipated. Hereinafter, a device that discharges a capacitor is referred to as a discharge device. The discharge device is not limited to the case where the vehicle collides, and it is also preferable to discharge the capacitor even when the ignition switch of the vehicle is turned off or when the hood is opened.
The discharge device is usually disconnected from the capacitor, and is preferably connected to the capacitor as necessary. Therefore, some electric vehicles include a discharge control circuit that controls the discharge device (that is, controls whether or not the charge of the capacitor flows to the discharge device). When the power source that drives the discharge control circuit is a common power source that supplies power to other devices in the vehicle, such as a battery for driving a motor or a so-called auxiliary battery, if the battery circuit is disconnected due to a collision or the like There is a possibility that the discharge control circuit does not function and a large-capacity capacitor cannot be discharged. Therefore, Patent Document 1 discloses a technique in which a capacitor can be discharged even if the common power supply circuit is disconnected by providing a backup power supply for the discharge control circuit.
The technique of Patent Document 1 requires a new backup power supply, which increases costs. In view of the above problems, the present specification provides a technique capable of appropriately discharging a capacitor without newly providing a backup power source and without supplying power from the above-described common power source.
One embodiment of the technology disclosed in this specification can be embodied in an electric vehicle having the following configuration. The electric vehicle includes a capacitor, a discharge device, a discharge switch, and a discharge control circuit. The capacitor smoothes the current supplied to the traveling motor. The discharging device discharges the capacitor. The discharge switch connects or disconnects the capacitor and the discharge device. The discharge control circuit performs on / off control of the discharge switch. The positive electrode of the power input terminal of the discharge control circuit is connected to the high voltage side of the capacitor. The negative electrode of the power input terminal of the discharge circuit may be connected to the low voltage side of the capacitor or may be connected to the ground.
Since a driving motor has a large driving current, a capacitor having a large capacitance (electric capacity) is used as a capacitor for smoothing the current supplied to the driving motor. When the power supply to the traveling motor is stopped, the discharging device discharges the capacitor. The discharge device typically uses a resistor having a large electric resistance and a high heat resistance (hereinafter sometimes referred to as “discharge resistor”). The discharge control circuit controls whether or not the electric charge stored in the capacitor flows to the discharge device. Specifically, when the discharge control circuit performs control to turn on the discharge switch, the discharge device is connected to the capacitor and discharges the capacitor. On the other hand, when the discharge control circuit executes control to turn off the discharge switch, the discharge device is disconnected from the capacitor, and thus the capacitor is not discharged. That is, the discharge control circuit executes the on / off control of the discharge switch, thereby controlling the discharge of the capacitor. Here, the driving power source of the discharge control circuit is a common power source that supplies power to other devices in the vehicle, such as a battery for driving a traveling motor and a so-called auxiliary battery for driving an auxiliary machine. In some cases, the electric circuit of the power source may be disconnected due to a collision or the like. In that case, the discharge control circuit may not be driven properly, and the charge stored in the capacitor may not be discharged. Therefore, in the technique disclosed in this specification, the positive electrode of the power input terminal of the discharge control circuit is connected to the high voltage side of the capacitor. Since the voltage is applied to the capacitor when the motor for driving is operating, the discharge control circuit is connected to the high voltage side of the capacitor by connecting the positive terminal of the power input terminal of the discharge control circuit to the voltage of the capacitor. Can be driven by. That is, a smoothing capacitor is used as a power source for the discharge control circuit. By using the capacitor to be discharged as the power source of the discharge control circuit, it is possible to reduce the possibility that the discharge control circuit will not operate due to the disconnection of the power circuit due to a collision or the like. In addition, since it is not necessary to provide a separate backup power source, the cost performance is excellent.
Details of the technology disclosed in this specification and further improvements will be described in detail in embodiments and examples of the invention.
Some of the features of the examples are listed first. In addition, the following features are each useful by itself.
(Characteristic 1) The capacitor includes a first capacitor and a second capacitor, which are connected in series. The positive electrode of the power input terminal of the discharge control circuit is connected between the first capacitor and the second capacitor. Since the capacitor is a device for smoothing the current supplied to the traveling motor, it is connected in parallel between the voltage converter circuit (described later) and the inverter circuit (described later). Therefore, the voltage on the high voltage side of the capacitor is a high voltage because it is a voltage boosted by the voltage converter. The value is, for example, 600 volts, but is not limited to this value. Since the capacitor includes the first capacitor and the second capacitor, the voltage of the capacitor can be divided and a voltage suitable for driving the discharge control circuit can be supplied to the discharge control circuit.
(Characteristic 2) In the case where a battery for driving the traveling motor is connected to the capacitor, the voltage between the first capacitor and the second capacitor is equal to the drive voltage of the discharge control circuit. By appropriately setting the capacitances of the first capacitor and the second capacitor, the voltage between the first capacitor and the second capacitor is made equal to the drive voltage of the discharge control circuit. By doing so, the discharge control circuit can be appropriately driven by the voltage applied to the capacitor on the low potential side of the first capacitor and the second capacitor. Note that the voltage between the first capacitor and the second capacitor may be approximately equal to the drive voltage of the discharge control circuit. That is, “the voltage between the first capacitor and the second capacitor is equal to the drive voltage” means that the voltage between the first capacitor and the second capacitor is suitable for driving the discharge control circuit. Means it is within range.
(Characteristic 3) The discharge switch maintains the ON state even when the signal from the discharge control circuit is interrupted after receiving the signal to turn ON the switch from the discharge control circuit. That is, once the signal for turning on the switch is received from the discharge control circuit, the discharge switch maintains the on state regardless of whether or not the signal for turning on is subsequently received from the discharge control circuit. Since the technology disclosed in this specification uses a capacitor to be discharged as a power source for a discharge control circuit, the voltage applied to the capacitor decreases as the capacitor is discharged by the discharge device. When the voltage applied to the capacitor decreases and falls below a voltage that can drive the discharge control circuit, the discharge control circuit does not operate, and the on / off control of the discharge switch cannot be performed. Therefore, with the above-described configuration, even if the capacitor is discharged and the voltage applied to the capacitor is reduced, all the electric charge stored in the capacitor can be discharged using the discharge device.

The inverter 5 includes a voltage converter circuit 4 that boosts the voltage of the main battery 9 to a voltage suitable for motor driving (for example, 600 volts), and an inverter circuit 6 that converts the boosted DC power into AC. The output of the inverter circuit 6 corresponds to the power supplied to the motor 7. Both the voltage converter circuit 4 and the inverter circuit 6 are circuits mainly including a switching element such as an IGBT, and a drive signal (PWM signal) of the switching element is generated and supplied by the
The voltage converter circuit 4 boosts the output voltage of the main battery 9 and supplies it to the inverter circuit 6. The inverter circuit has six switching
The
The
The
As described above, the switching of the system main relay 3, the PWM command to the transistor of the voltage converter circuit 4, the on / off control command of the switching
The
An example of an internal configuration of the
A modification of the
Since the
Advantages of the
As described above, the voltage of the positive terminal P2 on the high voltage side of the voltage converter circuit 4 is, for example, 600 volts. On the other hand, the drive voltage of the
Points to note regarding the technology of this embodiment will be described. In addition to the above embodiment, the discharge control circuit is a controller chip that uses the
In the example, the discharge device was a
In the embodiment, the
In the embodiment, the two
