Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an array type display device in which a plurality of display devices are arrayed to form a display screen.
A rear projection type display device, a plasma display device, a liquid crystal display device, an organic EL (Electro-Luminescence) (organic LED (light-emitting diode)) display device, etc. are arranged to expand the screen size. Widely used in digital signage and control monitoring that require large display screens of several tens of inches or more.
With respect to such an array type display device, in order to display a better image, the weather resistance of the screen, the flatness of the screen, the improvement of visibility, and the like are achieved (for example, see
However, for example, a rear projection type display device requires a frame structure for holding a rear projection type screen. In a plasma display device, a liquid crystal display device, and an organic EL display device, the display unit of the display device is made of glass. Since it is a panel, a frame structure for holding the panel is necessary.
Therefore, these frame structures and the like cause a non-display area in which no image can be displayed in the peripheral portion of the display device in any display device. When these are arranged on a plane to constitute an array type display device, a frame-like joint portion (joint portion) is formed between the display devices due to a non-display area where an image cannot be displayed. Since the video image is not displayed at the joint portion between the display devices, there is a problem that the image continuity is lowered and the image quality is lowered.
In plasma display devices, liquid crystal display devices, organic LED display devices, and the like, it is also considered that the holding member is bonded to the end face of the panel of the display unit to reduce the width of the holding member as much as possible to reduce the non-display area. . However, in these display devices, since electrodes must be arranged in the peripheral portion, even in such a configuration, a non-display area is generated on the order of several millimeters, and image continuity is not improved.

12A shows an example in which a rear projection display device is used as a display device, and FIG. 12B shows a plasma display device, a liquid crystal display device, and an organic EL display device (organic LED display device) as the display device. FIG. 12C illustrates an example in which a shape different from that of FIG. 12B, such as a plasma display device, a liquid crystal display device, and an organic EL display device (organic LED display device) used as a display device. Further, as shown in FIG. 12C, a display device 90A3 such as a plasma display device, a liquid crystal display device, or an organic EL display device has a holding
Therefore, as shown in FIG. 11,
When an image is displayed on such a conventional array-
The present invention improves this, and provides an array type display device having image continuity and good visibility.

The light L0 emitted in the front direction (normal direction of the display surface) from the area corresponding to the
On the other hand, light L1 and L2 emitted perpendicularly to the display surface from the region A, which is the outer peripheral side (
Further, as described above, the light incident
From the above, since the image displayed in the area A is viewed as if it is enlarged and displayed on the light output

When γ1 = γ2 is satisfied, the refraction angle α1 of the light L3 at the light incident
Therefore, it is desirable to design the curves formed by the light incident

H=W×tanθ ・・・(式1)

H = W × tan θ (Formula 1)
At this time, the angle θ is an angle ε formed by the normal line N of the tangent plane at the point T2 and a plane parallel to the

Further, if this (Expression 1) is satisfied, the light emitted from the outer peripheral edge of the display unit 11 is not emitted from the adjacent
Since the above-described conditions are satisfied, the array
FIG. 6 is a diagram for explaining an enlargement ratio of an image displayed on the light output
The image displayed in the region A of the
The image displayed by the light emitted from the region A in the normal direction of the display surface is enlarged by the light incident

Furthermore, since the image displayed on the light output
When the image is magnified at the magnification as described above by the light exit
FIG. 7 is a diagram illustrating a design method of the light exit
Generally, when designing a curve, it is possible to design the curve as a collection of minute line segments. Therefore, in the cross section as shown in FIG. 3 and the like, the curves indicated by the curved surfaces of the light exit
First, a point T2 which is the outermost periphery of the light incident
Here, if the angle γ1 (1) is too small, the distance H in the thickness direction between the point T2 and the point T1 becomes too large. If the angle γ1 (1) is too large, the light radiated from the
Next, the width W2 of the light incident
Here, the length of one width obtained by dividing the width W2 is WP. A point advanced by WP parallel to the
A straight line orthogonal to the display surface of the
θ(1)=90°−γ1(1)+arcsin((sin(γ1(1)))/N)
H=W×tan(θ(1))
Next, the line segment on the outermost periphery side of the light output
That is, the light emitted from the
θ (1) = 90 ° −γ1 (1) + arcsin ((sin (γ1 (1))) / N)
Accordingly, the light emitted from the
H = W × tan (θ (1))
A point advanced from the point T2 by a distance H in the direction perpendicular to the
Next, a line segment from the starting point T1 (1) of the light output
As shown in FIG. 4 and the description thereof, the angle γ1 (1) and γ2 (1) are equal (γ1 (1) = γ2 (1)), so that a good image without distortion is displayed. To preferred. Here, the angles γ1 (1) and γ2 (1) are as follows.
Angle γ1 (1): The tangent plane at the incident point of the light emitted from the
Angle γ2 (1): An angle formed by a tangent plane at which the light is incident on the light exit
Accordingly, the
This width WQ is expressed by the equation WQ = WP × W1 / W2. At this time, the magnification of the image displayed on the light exit
Then, a straight line is extended from the point WB (2) in a direction perpendicular to the display surface of the
θ(2)=90°−γ1(2)+arcsin((sin(γ1(2)))/N)
Next, a
As described above, the magnification rate of the image displayed on the light output
Therefore, the light emitted from the
Accordingly, the
θ (2) = 90 ° −γ1 (2) + arcsin ((sin (γ1 (2))) / N)
以降は、前述の線分24A(1)から線分22A(1)を定めたのと同様に、この線分24A(2)から線分22A(2)を定め、線分22A(1)から線分24A(2)を定めたのと同様に、線分22A(2)から線分24A(3)を定める。

(2) In each embodiment, the
For example, as shown in FIG. 9A, a
The
Further, as shown in FIG. 9B, at least a part of the
