Abstract
【解決手段】画素を有する表示パネルと、第2区間の間に前記画素に左眼画像又は右眼画像のうち何れか一つを印加し、前記第2区間より先行する第1区間の間、前記第2区間に前記画素に印加されるべき前記左眼画像又は前記右眼画像に基づいて、前記左眼画像又は前記右眼画像より小さい階調を有するように変換された変換画像を前記画素に印加するパネル駆動部と、を含む。

Description
図1は本発明の一実施形態に係る表示装置を示すブロック図である。
図1を参照すると、前記表示装置は表示パネル100、パネル駆動部200、光源部300、光源駆動部400、及び光変換メガネ500を含む。
第5フレームF5以降は、第1〜第4フレームF1〜F4が、左・右眼画像を順次変更しながら繰り返される。
本実施例では、第i区間(i=1、2、3、・・・)Piの長さは何れも1フレーム区間の長さに等しく、第i区間Piのスタート位置は、表示ブロックDBj(j=1〜8)に合わせて1フレーム区間の長さの7分の1だけスタガされる。(一般に表示ブロックの分割数がNの場合は、1フレーム区間の長さの(N−1)分の1だけスタガされる。)
一方、光変換メガネ500の右眼メガネ520は、第1フレームF1、第4フレームF4、及び第5フレームF5の間にターンオンされ、第2フレームF2、第3フレームF3、及び第6フレームF6の間にターンオフされる。
(第5フレームF5以降は、第1〜第4フレームF1〜F4が繰り返される。
即ち、左眼メガネ510は、F1、F4、F5、F8、F9、F12、…でターンオフされ、F2、F3、F6、F7、F10、F11、…でターンオンされる。一方、右眼メガネ520は、F1、F4、F5、F8、F9、F12、…でターンオンされ、F2、F3、F6、F7、F10、F11、…でターンオフされる。)
例えば、表示パネル100の画素に、第1変換左眼画像LC1、第1左眼画像L1、第1変換右眼画像RC1、第1右眼画像R1が順次に表示された以後、引き続き第2変換左眼画像LC2、第2左眼画像L2、第2変換右眼画像RC2、第2右眼画像R2が順次に表示される場合、第2左眼画像L2が表示する階調は第1右眼画像R1に対応する第1入力右眼画像が表示する階調と第2左眼画像L2に対応する第2入力左眼画像が表示する階調を比較して生成された階調であり得る。また、第2右眼画像R2が表示する階調は、第2左眼画像L2に対応する第2入力左眼画像が表示する階調と第2右眼画像R2に対応する第2入力右眼画像が表示する階調とを比較して生成された階調であり得る。
図6を参照すると、データ駆動部240はシフトレジスタ242、ラッチ244、信号処理部246、及びバッファ部248を含む。シフトレジスタ242は、ラッチパルスをラッチ244に出力する。ラッチ244は、変換左眼画像LC、左眼画像L、変換右眼画像RC及び右眼画像Rを一時保存した後、信号処理部246に出力する。信号処理部246は、前記デジタル形態である変換左眼画像LC、左眼画像L、変換右眼画像RC、及び右眼画像Rを、前記ガンマ基準電圧を根拠にアナログ形態の前記データ電圧に変換してバッファ部248に出力する。バッファ部248は、前記データ電圧が負荷電流の変動に対して常に一定のレベルを有するように補償して前記データ電圧をデータラインDLに出力する。
光変換メガネ500は、左眼画像L及び右眼画像Rに対応して開閉時間が調節される。

Claims (11)
- 画素を有する表示パネルと、
第2区間の間に前記画素に左眼画像又は右眼画像のうち何れか一つを印加し、前記第2区間より先行する第1区間の間、前記第2区間に前記画素に印加されるべき前記左眼画像又は前記右眼画像に基づいて、前記左眼画像又は前記右眼画像より小さい階調を有するように変換された変換画像を前記画素に印加するパネル駆動部と、を含むことを特徴とする表示装置。 - 画素を有する表示パネルと、
第2区間の間に前記画素に左眼画像又は右眼画像のうち何れか一つを印加し、前記第2区間より先行する第1区間の間、前記第2区間に前記画素に印加されるべき前記左眼画像又は前記右眼画像に基づいて、前記左眼画像又は前記右眼画像より大きい階調を有するように変換された変換画像を前記画素に印加するパネル駆動部と、を含むことを特徴とする表示装置。 - 前記パネル駆動部は、前記変換画像が示す階調を、前記左眼画像又は前記右眼画像の階調に変換変数を乗算して生成することを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記変換変数は、前記左眼画像の階調及び前記右眼画像の階調に従って可変することを特徴とする請求項3に記載の表示装置。
- 前記パネル駆動部は、前記変換画像の階調値を保存したルックアップテーブルを使って前記変換画像を生成することを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記表示パネルに光を提供する光源部と、前記光源部を駆動するための光源駆動部とをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記光源駆動部は、前記パネル駆動部と接続されて前記表示パネルに表示される画像に同期化され、前記光源部を駆動することを特徴とする請求項6に記載の表示装置。
- 前記光源部は複数の光源ブロックを含み、前記複数の光源ブロックは前記表示パネルに表示される画像がスキャンされる方向に沿って順次に駆動されることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の表示装置。
- 前記左眼画像及び前記右眼画像のうち何れか一つの全部又は一部の偏光を遮断する光変換部材をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記光変換部材は、光変換メガネであることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の表示装置。
- 前記光変換部材は、前記表示パネル上に形成されるリターダユニットであることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の表示装置。
