Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a fixing device and an image forming apparatus used in an image forming apparatus for recording an electrophotographic image such as an electronic copying machine or a facsimile machine.
In a fixing device of an image forming apparatus for recording an electrophotographic image such as a normal electronic copying machine or facsimile machine, an elastic material is provided on at least one of a rotatable heating roller and a pressure roller that is in pressure contact with the heating roller and rotates. And a method for forming a contact nip region is already known.
There is also known a method in which an endless belt is interposed between two rollers.
Further, in an image forming apparatus using an endless belt, a method is known in which a pressing member is provided inside the endless belt, not a roller, and a contact nip area is formed with a pair of rollers (free belt nip). (For example, refer to Patent Document 1).
In recent years, the reason why this free belt nip system is used is as follows.
1. The size can be reduced, and the width of the nip can be secured. ... In the method using two normal rollers in contact with each other, a predetermined size is required for the two roller diameters in order to ensure the nip width. However, since one of the rollers is not necessary by using the pressing member, the fixing device can be downsized.
2. Energy saving is possible. ... By downsizing the device, the amount of heat supplied to the fixing can be reduced compared to the prior art, and energy saving can be expected.
Furthermore, in order to improve the so-called fixability, it is preferable to increase the width of the nip and the pressure on the nip surface. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the pressure contact force between the roller and the pressing member.
However, when the pressure contact force is increased by this free belt nip method, the frictional force between the endless belt and the pressing member increases, so that the driving torque of the roller increases. Since the energy required for driving increases due to the increase in driving torque, the energy saving effect is diminished.
Moreover, although the sliding member with a low friction coefficient is attached to the surface of the pressing member, there is a problem that the life is shortened because the amount of wear increases due to the increased pressure contact force.
In order to reduce the coefficient of friction, fluid lubrication is desirable. In solid lubrication, the friction coefficient is around 0.1. However, by using fluid lubrication, the friction coefficient can be reduced to about 0.01.
However, when lubricating oil is filled in the endless belt (endless belt), the sealing performance at the end of the endless belt becomes a problem.
Because the endless belt is flexible, it is difficult to follow the movement of a conventional rubber lip. Further, when trying to secure the sealing performance, the lip pressure increases and the endless belt is deformed. Bring. Also, the driving torque of the roller is increased.
Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above, and an object thereof is to reduce the frictional force between the endless belt and the pressing member.
In order to solve the above-mentioned problem, the invention according to claim 1 is a method in which a flexible endless fixing member that circulates in a predetermined direction and a recording medium on which a patterned toner is formed by the fixing member are press-contacted. A pressure member that forms a nip portion, and a heating member that is fixed so as to face the inner peripheral surface of the fixing member and heats the fixing member to melt the toner. A doughnut-shaped magnetism generation source, a magnetic fluid provided between an outer periphery of the magnetism generation source and the fixing member, a sealing member for closing the center of the magnetism generation source, And lubricating oil injected into the inner peripheral surface side of the fixing member.
According to the present invention, the frictional force between the endless belt and the pressing member can be reduced.

<Configuration operation of fixing device>
Next, the configuration and operation of the fixing
FIG. 1 is a configuration diagram of a fixing
As shown in FIG. 1, a fixing
Here, the fixing
The base material of the fixing

定着ベルト21の離型層は、層厚が例えば10〜50μmであって、PFA(4フッ化エチレンバーフルオロアルキルビニルエーテル共重合体樹脂)、PTFE(4フッ化エチレン樹脂)、ポリイミド、ポリエーテルイミド、PES(ポリエーテルサルファイド)、等の材料で形成されている。
The release layer of the fixing

Moreover, in this Embodiment, although the shape of the

As shown in FIG. 3, the magnetic fluid adheres to the outer ring of the magnetic fluid seal (ring) by magnetic force, and adheres to the inside of the sleeve-like fixing belt by surface tension, so that sealing performance can be ensured.
<Effect>
According to the present embodiment, the toner image is heated and melted by running in a predetermined direction, and the flexible endless fixing member and the inner peripheral surface of the fixing member are fixedly provided. In the heating member that heats the fixing member and the pressure member that forms a nip portion that is pressed against the fixing member to convey the recording medium, lubricating oil can be put in the endless fixing member. Friction between the endless fixing member and the pressure member can be suppressed. Further, by providing a magnetic fluid seal and a magnetism generation source at the end inside the endless fixing member, it is possible to seal lubricating oil.
The above-described embodiment shows an example of a preferred embodiment of the present invention, and the present invention is not limited thereto, and various modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the invention. is there.
