Description
本発明は、メカノケミカル反応を用いて電池用の電極を製造する電池用電極の製造方法と、その製造方法によって製造された電極を用いる電池に関する。 The present invention relates to a battery electrode manufacturing method for manufacturing a battery electrode using a mechanochemical reaction, and a battery using the electrode manufactured by the manufacturing method.
Conventionally, firstly, for the purpose of obtaining excellent electrode performance and high electrode strength, an example of a technique related to a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery and the like has been disclosed (see, for example, Patent Document 1). This positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery is made of a lithium metal-containing oxide having a particle diameter smaller than that of the mother particle on at least a part of the surface of the mother particle having a small particle diameter made of a lithium metal-containing oxide. It is composed of composite particles in which granular particles are adhered and integrated. In the composite particles, the child particles adhere to at least a part of the surface of the mother particles, and the particles are integrated by causing a mechanochemical reaction.
第2に、電池容量を高め、サイクル劣化を防止することを目的として、リチウムイオン電池材料の製造方法に関する技術の一例が開示されている(例えば特許文献2を参照)。このリチウムイオン電池材料の製造方法では、正極活物質と導電材、結着剤とに加圧力およびせん断力を加えて、正極活物質の表面に導電材と結着剤とを融合させるメカノフュージョン反応(「メカノフュージョン処理」とも呼ぶ。以下同様である。)によって複合粒子を形成する。 Secondly, for the purpose of increasing the battery capacity and preventing cycle deterioration, an example of a technique related to a method for producing a lithium ion battery material is disclosed (for example, see Patent Document 2). In this method for producing a lithium ion battery material, a mechano-fusion reaction is performed by applying pressure and shearing force to the positive electrode active material, the conductive material, and the binder to fuse the conductive material and the binder to the surface of the positive electrode active material. (Also referred to as “mechanofusion treatment”, the same applies hereinafter) to form composite particles.
Thirdly, for the purpose of improving the characteristics of the electrode composite particle material and improving the electrode plate, an example of a technique related to the electrode composite particle material and the like is disclosed (for example, see Patent Document 3). The composite particle material for an electrode includes a positive electrode active material mainly comprising at least one powder selected from the group consisting of lithium cobaltate, lithium manganate, lithium nickelate, and a solid solution containing at least one of them as a main component. The material is mixed with 0.5 to 6 wt% of a carbon material having a BET specific surface area of 29 m 2 / g or more, and the carbon material is adhered to the surface of the positive electrode active material to perform a composite treatment. The compounding process is realized by a mechanofusion reaction.
Fourthly, an example of a technique relating to a method for producing a positive electrode for a lithium battery has been disclosed for the purpose of preventing corrosion of the current collector even when a solvent made of water is used for the active material paste (for example, Patent Document 4). See). In this method for producing a positive electrode for a lithium battery, an active material having a protective coating on the surface of the positive electrode active material that suppresses the reaction between the active material paste and water is used. According to the example of Patent Document 4, compressive stress and shear stress are applied using a mechano-fusion apparatus that performs a mechanochemical reaction when manufacturing positive electrode active material particles coated with a carbon film as a protective film.
第5に、電池用電極を製造するにあたって、得られる電極の内部抵抗をより一層低減させることを目的として、電池用電極の製造方法に関する技術の一例が開示されている(例えば特許文献5を参照)。この電池用電極の製造方法では、電極合材を調製するにあたって、比較的粒子径の小さい導電材と活物質粒子とをまず混合し、その後に比較的粒子径の大きい導電材を添加する。混合手段には、メカノケミカル反応を利用している。 Fifth, an example of a technique related to a method for manufacturing a battery electrode is disclosed for the purpose of further reducing the internal resistance of the obtained electrode in manufacturing the battery electrode (see, for example, Patent Document 5). ). In this battery electrode manufacturing method, when preparing an electrode mixture, a conductive material having a relatively small particle size and active material particles are first mixed, and then a conductive material having a relatively large particle size is added. A mechanochemical reaction is used as the mixing means.
第6に、高容量でかつ電池性能の劣化が抑えられること目的として、正極合剤含有組成物の製造方法に関する技術の一例が開示されている(例えば特許文献6を参照)。この正極合剤含有組成物の製造方法では、不規則に混合された被処理物にせん断、圧縮および摩擦エネルギーなどを作用させ、この被処理物にメカノケミカル反応を生じさせて中心粒子の表面に微粒子が付着・点在した複合素材粒子となるように表面改質を行う。 Sixth, an example of a technique relating to a method for producing a positive electrode mixture-containing composition has been disclosed for the purpose of suppressing the deterioration of battery performance with a high capacity (see, for example, Patent Document 6). In this method for producing a positive electrode mixture-containing composition, shearing, compression, friction energy, and the like are applied to an irregularly mixed object to be processed, and a mechanochemical reaction is caused on the object to be processed on the surface of the central particle. Surface modification is performed so that the composite material particles are adhered and scattered.
第7に、高容量化および高出力化を図ること目的として、リチウム二次電池に関する技術の一例が開示されている(例えば特許文献7を参照)。このリチウム二次電池は、正極活物質は、表面に導電性物質がメカノケミカル処理により固定化される。 Seventh, an example of a technique related to a lithium secondary battery is disclosed for the purpose of increasing the capacity and output (see, for example, Patent Document 7). In this lithium secondary battery, the positive electrode active material has a conductive material immobilized on the surface by mechanochemical treatment.
Eighth, as an object of reducing the internal resistance of the secondary battery and improving the discharge characteristics due to a large current, an example of a technique related to an electrode plate has been disclosed (see, for example, Patent Document 8). The electrode plate includes carbon-bonded active material particles, a second conductive material, an electrode mixture, and a current collecting member. The carbon-bonded active material particles are composed of active material particles and a carbon material, and have a first conductive material bonded over the entire surface of the active material particles by a mechanochemical reaction. The second conductive material is made of a carbon material. Carbon-bonded active material particles and a second conductive material are dispersed in the electrode mixture. The current collecting member carries an electrode mixture.
In the techniques of Patent Documents 1 to 8 described above, a mechanochemical reaction is performed in covering (coating, adhering, bonding, etc.) the conductive material on the surface of the active material. As shown in FIG. 2 of Patent Document 1, FIG. 1 of Patent Document 2, FIG. 1 of Patent Document 3, and the like, the mechanochemical reaction is performed by the inner wall surface of a metal member (that is, a container or a case) and a rotating member. A mixture (that is, a mixture of an active material and a conductive material) is disposed between the two, and the rotating member is relatively rotated while being pressed against the inner wall surface, thereby applying pressure and shearing force to the mixture. Under such pressure and shearing force, the surface of the active material is coated with a conductive material. This covering form is illustrated in FIG. 1 of Patent Document 1, FIG. 2 of Patent Document 5, FIG. 4 of Patent Document 8, and the like.
However, since the rotating member is pressed against the inner wall surface of the metal container by applying pressure, not only the mechanochemical reaction described above but also the surface of the rotating member or the metal member is scraped to form a metal body (that is, metal piece or metal powder). May occur as a by-product. The metal body naturally exhibits conductivity, and when a battery is manufactured while being contained in the electrode, a current flows through the metal body although it is weak inside the battery. Further, when the metal body is exposed on the surface of the electrode, it can also be a starting point of a short circuit. Further, when a metal body is mixed in the positive electrode, it is dissolved and ionized by the high oxidation potential of the positive electrode, and is reduced and deposited on the negative electrode surface over the negative electrode side, causing a slight short circuit. Therefore, there are problems such that self-discharge tends to occur inside the battery, and the battery capacity is difficult to recover even after charging.
メカノケミカル反応によって金属部材の表面が削られて金属体が生じないようにする対策として、例えば電池内で溶解、析出しないセラミックスやタングステン等の超硬合金を回転部材や金属部材に用いることが考えられる。しかし、これら材料は金属部材より靭性が低いので、所要の圧力が繰り返し加えられると破損や欠損が生じ易いために寿命が短く、かえって交換に必要な費用がかさむ。 As a measure to prevent the metal member from being scraped by the mechanochemical reaction and forming a metal body, for example, it is considered to use a cemented carbide such as ceramics or tungsten that does not melt or precipitate in the battery for the rotating member or metal member. It is done. However, since these materials have lower toughness than metal members, if a required pressure is repeatedly applied, they are likely to be damaged or chipped, resulting in a short lifespan, which in turn increases the cost required for replacement.
本発明はこのような点に鑑みてなしたものであり、メカノケミカル反応によって生じる金属体を低コストで除去できる電池用電極の製造方法および電池を提供することを目的とする。 This invention is made | formed in view of such a point, and it aims at providing the manufacturing method and battery of a battery electrode which can remove the metal body which arises by a mechanochemical reaction at low cost.
The invention according to claim 1, which has been made in order to solve the above problems, is a coating step of coating a conductive material on the surface of an active material using a mechanochemical apparatus, and a kneaded material (paste or the like) containing at least the active material A kneaded product generating step for forming the kneaded product on the surface of the current collector, and a mixture layer forming step for forming the active material mixture layer by drying the kneaded product. In the method for manufacturing a battery electrode, the method includes a metal body removing step of removing a metal body generated by scraping a metal member of the mechanochemical device by a mechanochemical reaction before performing the kneaded product generating step. To do.
この構成によれば、メカノケミカル反応の際に金属体が生じても、当該金属体は金属体除去工程によって除去される。その後に行われる混練物生成工程、塗工工程および合剤層形成工程を経て製造される電池用電極には、金属体を含まない。その電極を用いて製造した電池は、金属体(異物)を原因として内部で電流が流れることはないので、自己放電を起こし難くなる。よって、充電を行えば確実に電池容量を回復させることができる。 According to this configuration, even if a metal body is generated during the mechanochemical reaction, the metal body is removed by the metal body removing step. The battery electrode manufactured through the subsequent kneaded product generating step, coating step, and mixture layer forming step does not include a metal body. A battery manufactured using the electrode is less likely to cause self-discharge because no current flows inside due to a metal body (foreign matter). Therefore, the battery capacity can be reliably recovered by charging.
The “mechanochemical reaction” means a reaction in which the surface of the active material is coated with a conductive material, and is also called “mechanofusion treatment” or the like. In the following description, the mechanochemical reaction is unified. The “mechanochemical apparatus” is not particularly limited as long as it is an apparatus used for a mechanochemical reaction. The “metal member of the mechanochemical apparatus” is a metal part used in the mechanochemical reaction, and corresponds to, for example, a container (case) or a rotating member (pressing member) that performs the reaction. The “metal body” which is a foreign material includes all the material generated by scraping from a metal member, such as a metal piece, a metal wire, and metal powder.
The invention according to claim 2 is characterized in that in the metal body removing step, the metal body having a predetermined particle size or more is selected and removed using a sieve. According to this configuration, a metal body having a size equal to or larger than a predetermined particle size can be reliably removed. Two or more sieves having different particle sizes that can be sorted may be used to sort and remove the metal body in a plurality of stages. The “sieving” may be of any structure as long as a metal body having a predetermined particle size or more can be selected. The “predetermined particle size” is set to a value larger than the particle size when the surface of the active material is coated with a conductive material.
請求項3に記載の発明は、前記金属体除去工程は、磁力によって前記金属体を吸着させて除去することを特徴とする。一般的に、鉄(Fe)、コバルト(Co)、ニッケル(Ni)、クロム(Cr)などのような遷移元素(遷移金属)は磁性体になり得る。メカノケミカル装置の金属部材には、このような磁性体になり得る金属を含む場合が多い。この構成によれば、磁性体になり得る金属体を確実に除去することができる。 The invention according to claim 3 is characterized in that in the metal body removing step, the metal body is adsorbed and removed by a magnetic force. In general, transition elements (transition metals) such as iron (Fe), cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni), chromium (Cr) and the like can be magnetic. The metal member of the mechanochemical apparatus often contains a metal that can be such a magnetic material. According to this structure, the metal body which can become a magnetic body can be removed reliably.
請求項4に記載の発明は、前記金属体除去工程は、前記被覆工程を行った後の物質を、酸溶液に浸漬して前記金属体を除去することを特徴とする。この構成によれば、浸漬する酸溶液によって金属体が溶けるので、金属体を確実に除去することができる。なお「酸溶液」は、金属体の材質(成分)に合わせて適用する。例えば、塩酸や硫酸等が該当する。 The invention according to claim 4 is characterized in that, in the metal body removing step, the metal body is removed by immersing the substance after the covering step in an acid solution. According to this configuration, since the metal body is dissolved by the acid solution to be immersed, the metal body can be reliably removed. The “acid solution” is applied according to the material (component) of the metal body. For example, hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid are applicable.
The invention according to claim 5 is characterized in that, in the metal body removing step, the acid solution is removed after being immersed in the acid solution. Depending on the remaining acid solution, battery performance may be affected. According to this configuration, since the acid solution is removed after the metal body is dissolved, it is possible to suppress a decrease in battery performance due to the remaining acid solution. As the “removal of the acid solution”, any method can be applied as long as the acid solution can be removed. For example, acid scrub washing with water or neutralization using a neutralizing agent is applicable.
The invention described in claim 6 is characterized in that the removal of the acid solution is an acid trace washing with water. According to this configuration, the acid solution can be easily removed by rinsing with water, so that the cost can be reduced. As long as it can be washed away with water, any method can be applied. For example, a method of repeating “hydration” for adding water and “drainage (including dehydration)” for discarding the water for a predetermined number of times (for example, 3 times or 10 times) or water after acid cleaning is performed under predetermined conditions (for example, hydrogen For example, a method of flowing until an index such as an ion index (PH) or electric conductivity reaches a predetermined value is satisfied.
請求項7に記載の発明は、前記混練物は、前記酸痕水洗で加える水を用いて混練されることを特徴とする。この構成によれば、酸痕水洗で加える水をそのまま溶媒として用いて混練物を生成する。別個に溶媒を必要としないので、溶媒にかかるコストを低減することができる。 The invention according to claim 7 is characterized in that the kneaded product is kneaded using water added in the acid trace water washing. According to this configuration, the kneaded product is produced using the water added in the acid mark washing as it is as the solvent. Since a separate solvent is not required, the cost for the solvent can be reduced.
請求項8に記載の発明は、前記金属体除去工程は、前記酸溶液を加えた後、前記酸溶液を中和する中和剤を加えることを特徴とする。この構成によれば、中和剤を用いて酸溶液を中和するので、残存する酸溶液による電池性能の低下を抑制することができる。 The invention according to claim 8 is characterized in that, in the metal body removing step, a neutralizing agent for neutralizing the acid solution is added after the acid solution is added. According to this configuration, since the acid solution is neutralized using the neutralizing agent, it is possible to suppress a decrease in battery performance due to the remaining acid solution.
The invention according to claim 9 is characterized in that the active material is a metal chalcogen compound. The metal chalcogen compound is a compound of a transition element (transition metal) and a chalcogen and has a NiAs type structure. That is, the atoms of the transition element are coordinated by six adjacent chalcogen atoms at the apex of the distorted octahedron. Six adjacent chalcogen atoms are present at the apex of the triangular prism. Examples of the transition element include iron (Fe), cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni), and chromium (Cr). Chalcogen corresponds to sulfur (S), selenium (Se), tellurium (Te), and the like.
請求項10に記載の発明は、前記活物質は、リチウム・鉄複合酸化物、リチウム・コバルト複合酸化物、リチウム・ニッケル酸化物などのリチウム複合酸化物であることを特徴とする。この構成によれば、リチウム複合酸化物を活物質として用いることにより、電池としてリチウムイオン二次電池を製造することができる。
The invention according to
請求項11に記載の発明は、前記メカノケミカル装置の金属部材は、鉄、ニッケル、コバルト、クロムのうち一以上を含むことを特徴とする。この構成によれば、メカノケミカル反応の際に金属体が生じても、当該金属体は金属体除去工程(すなわち篩,磁力吸着,酸溶液等)を行うことによって確実に除去することができる。
The invention according to

As the metal oxide, it is preferable to use a lithium composite oxide represented by a composition formula “Li x MO y ”. “M” in the composition formula may be an appropriate combination of two or more elements, regardless of whether they are metallic elements or nonmetallic elements. Examples of metal elements include iron (Fe), cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni), manganese (Mn), zinc (Zn), chromium (Cr), aluminum (Al), titanium (Ti), and silicon (Si). Among these, one or more elements are applicable. Nonmetallic elements include phosphorus (P) and boron (B). The subscript “x” in the composition formula is preferably set within a range of 0.05 ≦ x ≦ 2.0, and similarly “y” is preferably set within a range of 2 ≦ y ≦ 4.
リチウム複合酸化物は、高電位・高容量・耐久性などの要求特性に応じて、リチウム・鉄複合酸化物、リチウム・コバルト複合酸化物、リチウム・ニッケル酸化物などの中から選定するのが望ましい。このように、活物質13に用いる材質は、製造しようとする電池の種類や用途等に応じて任意に選択することができる。
Lithium composite oxide is preferably selected from lithium / iron composite oxide, lithium / cobalt composite oxide, lithium / nickel oxide, etc. according to required characteristics such as high potential, high capacity, and durability. . Thus, the material used for the

Depending on the electrode (that is, the positive electrode or the negative electrode), the
When the mechanochemical reaction in step S10 is performed, the metal member of the mechanochemical apparatus (that is, the metal container in which the
In the sieve sorting step (step S11), a metal body having a predetermined particle size or more is sorted and removed using a sieve. The sieve is not limited in its structure and material as long as the metal body generated as a foreign substance can be selected. The predetermined particle size is set to an appropriate particle size in consideration of the maximum particle size of the
In the magnetic force adsorption step (step S12), the metal body is adsorbed and removed by magnetic force. Any means, device, or the like that is attracted by magnetic force may be used. For example, it is performed using a magnetic separator that uses a magnet such as a permanent magnet or an electromagnet. The magnitude of the magnetic force can be set arbitrarily, but it is desirable to set it to 14,000 [Gauss] or more in order to adsorb the metal body having a predetermined particle size or more. This step is effective when the metal member of the mechanochemical apparatus exhibits magnetism. That is, the metal body generated as a foreign substance may be a magnetic body (regardless of whether it is a diamagnetic body, a paramagnetic body, or a ferromagnetic body). For example, iron (Fe), nickel (including wrought materials such as Ni-200 and Ni-201), iron oxide (regardless of oxidation number. FeO, Fe 2 O 3 etc.), chromium oxide (oxidation number) CrO, Cr 2 O 3 and the like), cobalt (Co), and alloys thereof are applicable. Alloys include, for example, stainless steel (regardless of JIS standard martensite, ferrite, austenite, austenite / ferrite biphasic, precipitation hardening) and ferrite (spinel, hexagonal, garnet, etc.) Not applicable).
In the acid cleaning step (step S13), the
In the acid trace water washing step (step S14), the remaining
乾燥工程(ステップS15)は、上記酸痕水洗工程で加える水を蒸発させて乾燥する。水を蒸発させて乾燥できれば、その方法や装置を問わない。一般的には、ヒーターで加熱して水を蒸発させたり、扇風機等で風を当てることで気化させたりする。 In the drying step (step S15), the water added in the acid trace water washing step is evaporated and dried. Any method and apparatus can be used as long as water can be evaporated and dried. In general, it is heated by a heater to evaporate water or vaporized by applying wind with a fan or the like.
上述した被覆工程(ステップS10)および金属体除去工程(ステップS11〜S15)を経て、異物としての金属体を含まない被覆物を得ることができる。得られる被覆物を少なくとも含む混練物を生成する混練物生成工程を行う〔ステップS18〕。一般的に、混練物はバインダ12,被覆物(活物質13と導電材14),溶媒15などを混ぜ合わせてペースト状(または液状)にした物である。
Through the covering step (step S10) and the metal body removing step (steps S11 to S15) described above, it is possible to obtain a covering that does not include a metal body as a foreign substance. A kneaded material generating step for generating a kneaded material including at least the obtained coating is performed [step S18]. In general, the kneaded material is a paste (or liquid) obtained by mixing a

As the solvent 15, a material suitable for kneading is used. For example, water, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), carbonates, halogenated hydrocarbons, ethers, ketones, nitriles, lactones, oxolane compounds and the like are applicable. In particular, low-cost water or high boiling point N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) is desirable. Any one single solvent may be sufficient, and the mixed solvent which selected and mixed 2 or more types among these solvents may be sufficient.

(Second production method of battery electrode)
The 2nd manufacturing method of the battery electrode is demonstrated referring FIG. As in the first manufacturing method, the positive electrode will be described as a representative. In order to simplify the description, processes and substances different from the first manufacturing method will be described. Therefore, the same code | symbol is attached | subjected to the process of the same content as the process of a 1st manufacturing method, and description is abbreviate | omitted.
第2製造方法が第1製造方法と異なるのは次の点である。第1に、溶媒15を必要としない。第2に、バインダ12を用いる代わりに、水系バインダ12aを用いる。第3に、乾燥工程(ステップS15)を行う代わりに、濾過工程(ステップS16)を行う。すなわち第2製造方法は、酸痕水洗工程(ステップS14)で使用する水の一部または全部をそのまま混練物生成工程(ステップS18)で用いることで、溶媒15を不要とする製造方法である。
The second manufacturing method is different from the first manufacturing method in the following points. First, the solvent 15 is not required. Secondly, instead of using the

(Third manufacturing method of battery electrode)
A third manufacturing method of the battery electrode will be described with reference to FIG. Since the third manufacturing method is similar to the second manufacturing method, steps and materials that are different from the second manufacturing method will be described in order to simplify the description. Therefore, the same code | symbol is attached | subjected to the process of the same content as the process of a 2nd manufacturing method, and description is abbreviate | omitted.
第3製造方法が第2製造方法と異なるのは、酸痕水洗工程(ステップS14)および濾過工程(ステップS16)を行う代わりに、中和工程(ステップS17)を行う点である。すなわち第3製造方法は工程数が最も少なくなるので、電極10の形成(ひいては電池)の製造を最も速く行うことができ、しかも低コストに抑えられる。 The third manufacturing method is different from the second manufacturing method in that a neutralization step (step S17) is performed instead of the acid trace water washing step (step S14) and the filtration step (step S16). That is, since the third manufacturing method has the smallest number of steps, the formation of the electrode 10 (and hence the battery) can be performed most quickly, and the cost can be reduced.

(Method for producing electrode body)
A manufacturing method for manufacturing an electrode body using the electrode manufactured by the above-described battery electrode manufacturing method will be described with reference to FIGS. 5 and 6. The form of the electrode body corresponds to, for example, a wound flat type (hereinafter simply referred to as “flat body”) or a laminated type, but other forms may also be used. An example of a flat body manufacturing process is shown in FIG. 5 (A), and a side view thereof is shown in FIG. 5 (B). An example of a manufacturing process of a stacked electrode body (hereinafter simply referred to as “laminated body”) is shown in FIG. 6 (A), and side views thereof are shown in FIGS. 6 (B) and 6 (C).

(Test method and evaluation method)
In the test, a voltage of 4.0 [V] was applied to 100 lithium ion secondary batteries manufactured as described above for a predetermined period, and then left in the atmosphere to measure a voltage change. Specifically, each time one day has passed after starting to stand, the voltage of each of the 100 lithium ion secondary batteries is measured, and the calculation formula “(voltage before being left−voltage after being left for X days) / X days” The voltage drop rate (V / day) was determined according to A battery having a voltage drop rate equal to or higher than a reference value was evaluated as “defective product”, and a battery having a voltage drop rate lower than the reference value was evaluated as “normal product (accepted product)”. As an example, the standard deviation (σ) was obtained from the average value of the voltage drop rate and 90 pieces close to the average value as the reference value, and three times the standard deviation (that is, 3σ) was applied from the average value.

(評価)
実施例1〜6および比較例1〜4で製造した各電極10を正極100として含むリチウムイオン二次電池について評価すると、下記の表2のようになった。含有量の測定方法はICP(Inductively Coupled Plasma)発光分光分析による。

In all of the
