Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a touch panel and a position detection method.
The touch panel is an input device that can directly input to the display, and is used by being installed on the front surface of the display. Touch panels are widely used in various applications because they can be directly input based on information visually captured by a display.
As such a touch panel, a resistance film method is widely known. The resistive film type touch panel is installed so that each transparent conductive film is opposed to each other in the upper electrode substrate and the lower electrode substrate on which the transparent conductive film is formed, and each of the upper electrode substrates is applied with a force. The transparent conductive films are in contact with each other, and the position where the force is applied can be detected.
Resistive touch panels can be roughly classified into 4-wire type and 5-wire type. In the four-wire system, an X-axis electrode is provided on one of the upper electrode substrate and the lower electrode substrate, and a Y-axis electrode is provided on the other. On the other hand, in the 5-wire system, both the X-axis electrode and the Y-axis electrode are provided on the lower electrode substrate, and the upper electrode substrate functions as a probe for detecting a voltage (for example, Patent Documents). 1, 2).
Specifically, a 5-wire touch panel will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a 5-wire touch panel, and FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram of a cross section of the 5-wire touch panel.
The 5-
In the 5-
By the way, in the 5-wire touch panel described above, it is possible to detect the contact position at one point, but it is not possible to detect the position when a plurality of points touch at the same time.
That is, as shown in FIG. 4A, when voltages are applied alternately in the X-axis direction and the Y-axis direction by the
This is not limited to a 5-wire touch panel, and the same applies to a so-called 7-wire touch panel having a structure in which a diode is provided between an electrode and a transparent conductive film.
The structure of the 5-wire touch panel will be described in more detail. The 5-wire touch panel is provided on the

[First Embodiment]
(Touch panel structure)
The touch panel in the first embodiment will be described. In the touch panel in the present embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, the
In addition, as a material constituting the transparent
Examples of the material to be the
Further, a resin substrate may be used in place of the
(2-point position detection method)
Next, the position detection method of the contact position when there are two contact points on the touch panel in the present embodiment will be described. First, as shown in FIG. 8, 0 V is applied to the
Next, as shown in FIG. 9, 0 V is applied to the
As described above, since the potentials detected at the
(Information input method)
Next, an information input method using the touch panel in this embodiment will be described. This information input method is a case where there are two contact points on the touch panel, and performs gesture functions such as rotation, enlargement, reduction, etc. of the screen display.
Based on FIG. 10, the information input method using the touch panel in this Embodiment is demonstrated.
First, in step 102 (S102), potential measurement is performed. Specifically, a potential distribution in the X-axis direction is generated in the transparent
Next, in step 104 (S104), it is determined whether or not the potentials measured at the
Next, in step 106 (S106), since it is determined that there are two contact points in contact with the touch panel, the approximate coordinate positions of the two contact points in contact with the touch panel are the electrodes. Calculated based on the potential measured at 31 and 32. Specifically, since the potential distribution and the coordinate position are in a proportional relationship, approximate position coordinates corresponding to the potential can be calculated by the method described above. The calculated coordinate positions of the two contact points are stored in a memory (not shown) or the like.
On the other hand, in step 108 (S108), since it is determined that there is one contact point in contact with the touch panel, the coordinate position of the one contact point in contact with the touch panel is the
Next, in step 110 (S110), it is determined whether or not the coordinate positions of the two contact points on the touch panel are the same as the previously calculated coordinate positions. Specifically, the coordinate positions of the current two contact points calculated in
Next, in step 112 (S112), the gesture function is performed. Specifically, since the coordinate position of the two points touching the touch panel is different from the previous time and this time, input of gesture information (input for the gesture function) was performed by moving the two contact points. It is determined that the corresponding gesture function is executed. Details of this gesture function will be described later.
Next, in step 114 (S114), a determination is made as to whether or not input via the touch panel is to be terminated. Specifically, it is performed by turning off the power of the touch panel. If it is determined that the input using the touch panel is to be ended, the process ends as it is. On the other hand, if it is determined that the input using the touch panel is not terminated, the process proceeds to step 102 and the potential is measured again.

First, in step 202 (S202), it is determined whether or not the input at the two touch points on the touch panel is a rotation operation. Specifically, based on the position coordinates of the previous contact point and the position coordinates of the current contact point, the determination is made based on whether or not the two contact points perform a rotation operation in the gesture input. If it is determined that the operation is rotating, the process proceeds to step 204. On the other hand, if it is determined that the rotation operation is not performed, the process proceeds to step 206.
Next, in step 204 (S204), the image displayed on the display screen is rotated.
Next, in step 206 (S206), it is determined whether or not the input from the two touch points on the touch panel is an enlargement operation. Specifically, based on the position coordinates of the previous contact point and the position coordinates of the current contact point, the determination is made based on whether or not the two contact points perform an enlargement operation in the gesture input. If it is determined that the operation is an enlargement operation, the process proceeds to step 208. On the other hand, if it is determined that the operation is not an enlargement operation, the process proceeds to step 210.
Next, in step 208 (S208), an operation for enlarging the image displayed on the display screen is performed.
Next, in step 210 (S210), it is determined whether or not the input from the two contact points on the touch panel is a reduction operation. Specifically, the determination is made based on whether or not the two contact points perform a reduction operation in the gesture input based on the position coordinates of the previous contact point and the position coordinates of the current contact point. If it is determined that the operation is a reduction operation, the process proceeds to step 212. On the other hand, if it is determined that the operation is not a reduction operation, it is determined that the input by the gesture function has not been performed, and the process returns to the main routine.
Next, in step 212 (S212), a reduction operation of the image displayed on the display screen is performed.
Thereafter, the process returns to the main routine.

Next, a touch panel in the second embodiment will be described. In the touch panel in the present embodiment, as shown in FIG. 16, the
(2-point position detection method)
Next, the position detection method of the contact position when there are two contact points on the touch panel in the present embodiment will be described. First, as shown in FIG. 17, 0 V is applied to the
Next, as shown in FIG. 18, 0 V is applied to the
As described above, since the potentials detected at the
(Information input method)
Next, an information input method using the touch panel in this embodiment will be described. This information input method is a case where there are two contact points on the touch panel, and performs gesture functions such as rotation, enlargement, reduction, etc. of the screen display.
Based on FIG. 19, the information input method using the touch panel in this Embodiment is demonstrated.
First, in step 302 (S302), potential measurement is performed. Specifically, a potential distribution in the X-axis direction is generated in the transparent
Next, in step 304 (S304), it is determined whether or not the potentials measured by the
Next, in step 306 (S306), since it is determined that there are two contact points in contact with the touch panel, the approximate coordinate positions of the two contact points in contact with the touch panel are the electrodes. It is calculated based on the potential measured at 131, 132, 133, and 134. Specifically, since the potential distribution and the coordinate position are in a proportional relationship, approximate position coordinates corresponding to the potential can be calculated. The calculated coordinate positions of the two contact points are stored in a memory (not shown) or the like.
On the other hand, in step 308 (S308), since it is determined that there is only one contact point in contact with the touch panel, the coordinate position of the one contact point in contact with the touch panel is the
Next, in step 310 (S310), it is determined whether or not the coordinate positions of the two contact points on the touch panel are the same as the previously calculated coordinate positions. Specifically, the coordinate position of the two contact points this time calculated in step 306 is the same as the coordinate position of the two contact points calculated last time stored in a memory (not shown) or the like. A determination is made whether or not. If it is determined that the coordinate position of the two contact points calculated this time is the same as the previously calculated coordinate position, the two contact points are interpreted as not moving on the touch panel, and the step The process proceeds to 314. On the other hand, if it is determined that the coordinate positions of the two contact points calculated this time are not the same as the previously calculated coordinate positions, the process proceeds to step 312.
Next, in step 312 (S312), the gesture function is performed. Specifically, since the coordinate position of the two points touching the touch panel is different from the previous time and this time, input of gesture information (input for the gesture function) was performed by moving the two contact points. It is determined that the corresponding gesture function is executed. The gesture function is performed as in a subroutine shown in FIG.
Next, in step 314 (S314), a determination is made as to whether or not to end input via the touch panel. Specifically, it is performed by turning off the power of the touch panel. If it is determined that the input using the touch panel is to be ended, the process ends as it is. On the other hand, if it is determined that the input using the touch panel is not terminated, the process proceeds to step 302 and the potential measurement is performed again.
In this embodiment, the case has been described where gesture information is input by changing the coordinate position of the two contact points in step 312, but the potential at the two contact points changes. Thus, gesture information may be input.

Next, the touch panel in 3rd Embodiment is demonstrated. In the touch panel in the present embodiment, as shown in FIG. 21, the
The L-shaped
Therefore, in the present embodiment, by applying a predetermined voltage to the
(2-point position detection method)
Next, the position detection method of the contact position when there are two contact points on the touch panel in the present embodiment will be described. First, as shown in FIG. 22, 0 V is applied to the
Next, as illustrated in FIG. 23, 0 V is applied to the

[Fourth Embodiment]
(Touch panel structure)
Next, a touch panel according to a fourth embodiment will be described. In the touch panel in the present embodiment, as shown in FIG. 24, the
The L-shaped
Therefore, in this embodiment, by applying a predetermined voltage to the
(2-point position detection method)
Next, the position detection method of the contact position when there are two contact points on the touch panel in the present embodiment will be described. First, as illustrated in FIG. 25, 0 V is applied to the
Next, as illustrated in FIG. 26, 0 V is applied to the
As described above, since the potentials detected at the
