Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a coating apparatus, a coating method, and an electrode manufacturing method for coating a coating material on the surface of a substrate on which an electrode is formed in a battery manufacturing process.
In recent years, electric vehicles such as hybrid vehicles and electric vehicles equipped with an electric motor as a drive source are becoming popular. Such an electric vehicle is equipped with a secondary battery for charging and discharging. The electrode of the secondary battery is made by applying a coating material (paste, binder, etc.) to the surface of a base material such as aluminum foil (positive electrode side) or copper foil (negative electrode side) using a coating device. ing.
As such a coating apparatus, as shown in FIG. 4, a
However, the above prior art has the following problems.
That is, according to the prior art described above, there is a problem that coating unevenness occurs due to the bending in the width direction of the

In order to solve the above problems, an electrode manufacturing method according to an aspect of the present invention has the following characteristics.
(9) The electrode is manufactured by applying the coating material to the base material by the coating method described in any one of (5) to (8).
The coating device, the coating method, and the electrode manufacturing method having the above characteristics have the following operations and effects.
(1) A rod coater that coats the surface of a substrate with a coating material, an upstream pressing roller that is arranged on the upstream side of the rod coater and presses the substrate from the side opposite to the coating surface, and the rod In the coating apparatus, the coating method, and the electrode manufacturing method, which are arranged on the downstream side of the coater and have a downstream pressing roller that presses the substrate from the side opposite to the coating surface, the upstream pressing roller and the downstream side It has a center pressing roller that is disposed between the pressing roller and facing the rod coater, and presses the substrate toward the rod of the rod coater from the side opposite to the coating surface. Therefore, since it is possible to apply the coating while preventing the base material from being bent into a mountain shape by the center pressing roller, it is possible to make the coating film have the same thickness at the center portion and both end portions in the base material width direction. Can be applied in the substrate width direction. It is possible to improve the coating quality by preventing the occurrence of unevenness.
(2) In the coating apparatus, the coating method, and the electrode manufacturing method described in (1), the center pressing roller is provided with a damper mechanism that maintains a pressing force that presses the base material at a predetermined value. Therefore, for example, it is possible to prevent the coating film from becoming too thin due to the center pressing roller pressing the substrate too much, or the coating film from becoming too thick because the pressing force is too weak.
(3) In the coating apparatus, the coating method, and the electrode manufacturing method described in (2), the horizontal direction of the base material conveyed between the rod of the rod coater and the center pressing roller by the damper mechanism It is characterized by adjusting the angle between the rod and the base material to 10 ° or less, so that a necessary amount of beads (a pool of coating material) is reliably formed between the rod and the base material, and the necessary thickness This coating film can be reliably formed. This is because if the angle formed with the horizontal direction of the substrate to be conveyed is 10 ° or more, it becomes difficult to secure a bead space that can be formed between the rod and the substrate, and a coating with a necessary thickness is applied. This is because there is a possibility that a film cannot be formed.
(4) In the coating apparatus, the coating method, and the electrode manufacturing method according to any one of (1) to (3), the center pressing roller has a hatched plate inclined with respect to the axial direction. Since the center pressing roller rotates while pressing the substrate from the back side, the obliquely shaped plate can cause the coating material to flow in the substrate width direction. Therefore, the coating thickness in the substrate width direction can be made uniform.
In this case, by forming a plurality of obliquely shaped plates in parallel at a predetermined interval, it becomes possible to rectify the flow generated in the substrate width direction of the coating material, and in the substrate width direction The coating thickness can be made more uniform.

FIG. 2 is a view of the coating unit of the coating apparatus shown in FIG. 1 as viewed from the substrate conveyance direction. In each figure, the arrow X indicates the substrate conveyance direction, and the arrow Y indicates the substrate width direction.

<Coating method>
Next, a coating method using the
In the coating method of this embodiment, the rotating
Further, the
Furthermore, the
By the way, as shown in FIG. 2, the length L <b> 1 of the
Therefore, in this embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, coating is performed while pressing the
<実施例1>
<Example 1>
The inventors of the present invention confirmed the effect of preventing uneven coating by the
According to this measurement result, in the
On the other hand, in the
In particular, in the battery manufacturing process, a two-layer coating may be performed in which a binder as a bonding layer is applied and then a paste containing an active material is applied. In such two-layer coating, it is necessary to coat the binder uniformly with a thin film. In such a case, by using the coating method of the present embodiment, it is possible to perform thin film coating of the binder without unevenness. Such a secondary battery having no coating unevenness has a stable reactivity on the electrode surface and exhibits stable battery performance.
As described above in detail, according to the present embodiment, the
