Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a transducer, and particularly to a transducer using an ion conductive polymer material. A transducer is a so-called transducer, a device that changes one type of energy to another. For example, an actuator that converts electrical energy into kinetic energy is a transducer, and a sensor that generates an electrical signal by deforming a shape is also a transducer. Therefore, although the present invention names transducers, it also relates to the field of actuators and the field of sensors.
Conventionally, actuators and sensors are used in various fields. An actuator refers to a device that converts energy given by electricity, hydraulic pressure, atmospheric pressure, or the like into physical momentum, and is generally used for devices that perform simple operations such as expansion and contraction. For example, a device for operating an operation part such as a valve or a lever or a device for operating a joint of a robot is called an actuator.
In recent years, small and lightweight actuators suitable for the medical field, the micromachine field, the industrial robot field, and the like have been demanded. Such small and light actuators are sometimes referred to as artificial muscles by using expansion and contraction of shape memory materials and polymer materials, electrostatic force, piezoelectric power, ultrasonic waves and the like as power sources. In particular, an actuator using a polymer material is called a polymer actuator, and research and development are actively performed. For example, Patent Document 1 describes an actuator element in which electrodes are formed on both surfaces of an ion conductive polymer (ion exchange membrane). In addition, the operation of water molecules from the outside may affect the operation of the polymer actuator. Patent Document 2 describes an actuator element covered with a water-impermeable material for the purpose of reducing this influence.
As mentioned above, actuators are sometimes used for opening and closing valves and robot joints. In such cases, how much the valve is opened and closed and how much the robot joint has moved are detected. Therefore, a sensor is often used together. Using the sensor, the degree of operation of the actuator or the degree of movement of the target to be operated by the actuator is detected, and control such as start or stop of the operation such as expansion or contraction or extension is performed. Some actuators can extract the deformation amount of deformation caused by an external stimulus such as a chemical stimulus, an electrical stimulus, a thermal stimulus, and a light stimulus as an electrical signal. By using this electric signal, the actuator can be used as a sensor.
Although it is reasonable to form an actuator using an ion conductive polymer in the form of a film, in the case of a film form, the force generated is small compared to actuators by other methods. For this reason, there exists a problem that the use which can be used is restricted. When sensor function is required. Providing the actuator and the sensor separately may make it difficult to secure an area for arranging the actuator and the sensor in a small device such as the medical field or the micromachine field.
SUMMARY An advantage of some aspects of the invention is to solve at least a part of the problems described above, and the invention can be implemented as the following application examples or embodiments.
[Application Example 1]
The transducer according to this application example includes a first movable portion, a second movable portion, and an insulating film, and the first movable portion includes the first ion exchange membrane and the first ion exchange membrane. A first electrode formed on a first surface which is one surface of the ion exchange membrane and a second surface which is the other surface facing the one surface of the first ion exchange membrane; And the second movable part is formed on a second surface of the second ion exchange membrane and a third surface which is one surface of the second ion exchange membrane. A third electrode, and a fourth electrode formed on a fourth surface, which is the other surface opposite to the one surface of the second ion exchange membrane, and the insulating film The fifth surface, which is one surface, is in contact with the second surface, and the sixth surface, which is the other surface opposite to the one surface of the insulating film, is in contact with the third surface. And wherein the door.
According to this configuration, the first movable portion includes the first ion exchange membrane, the first electrode, and the second electrode, and the second movable portion includes the second ion exchange membrane and the third electrode. And the fourth electrode, the fifth surface of the insulating film is in contact with the second electrode, and the sixth surface of the insulating film is in contact with the third electrode. A transducer that can be used by combining the generated force and the force generated by the second movable portion can be configured. Thereby, the bending direction of the first movable part and the bending direction of the second movable part are made the same so that the force generated by the first movable part and the force generated by the second movable part are combined. The force generated can be the force generated by the transducer. The insulating film between the first movable part and the second movable part prevents a short circuit between the electrode in the first movable part and the electrode in the second movable part, and also expands or contracts the first movable part. The function of smoothing the movement of the transducer is provided by eliminating the contact between the portion to be stretched and the portion to which the second movable portion expands or contracts.
In addition, according to this configuration, since the insulating film is disposed between the first movable part and the second movable part, the first movable part and the second movable part are controlled separately. A possible transducer can be constructed. Thereby, for example, the direction of bending of the first movable part and the direction of bending of the second movable part can be reversed. Thereby, it is possible to prevent bending of the transducer generated by receiving an external force, and for example, it can be used as an actuator for fixing a component whose position is shifted by an external force such as wind.
In addition, according to this configuration, since the first movable part and the second movable part can be controlled separately, either the first movable part or the second movable part is used as an actuator. The other can be used as a sensor. When the operation as an actuator is not necessary, both the first movable part and the second movable part can be used as sensors.
[Application Example 2]
In the transducer according to the application example, it is preferable that the first movable portion and the second movable portion are covered with a waterproof film.
According to this configuration, at least the first movable portion and the second movable portion are covered with the waterproof film, so that a transducer that is not affected by the movement of moisture can be configured.
[Application Example 3]
The transducer according to this application example includes a plurality of movable portions and a plurality of insulating films, and each of the plurality of movable portions includes a first ion exchange membrane and a first ion exchange membrane. A first electrode formed on one surface and a second electrode formed on a second surface opposite to the first surface of the first ion exchange membrane, the plurality of Each of the movable parts and each of the plurality of insulating films are arranged alternately in contact with each other.
According to this configuration, each of the plurality of movable parts and each of the plurality of insulating films are alternately disposed so that the first electrode and the second electrode in each of the plurality of movable parts are the plurality of the plurality of movable parts. A transducer having a structure that does not directly contact the first electrode or the second electrode in the other movable portion of the movable portion can be configured. Since each of the plurality of movable parts is electrically independent by the insulating film, each of the plurality of movable parts can be controlled independently.
Further, according to this configuration, each of the plurality of movable parts can be bent in the same direction. As a result, the bending force generated by each of the plurality of movable parts can be combined into the force generated by the transducer.
Further, according to this configuration, any one of the plurality of movable parts can be used as an actuator, and the movable part not used as an actuator can be used as a sensor. When not used as an actuator, all of the plurality of movable parts can be used as sensors.
[Application Example 4]
In the transducer according to the application example described above, it is preferable that the plurality of movable parts are covered with a waterproof film.
According to this configuration, a transducer that is not affected by the movement of moisture can be configured by covering a plurality of movable parts with a waterproof film.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to schematic views. In addition, the schematic diagram used for description shows a necessary part simply for convenience of description, and the ratio of the size of the component may be different from the actual one. In addition, the transducer shown as an example in the present embodiment has a film-like form, and all the schematic views are cross-sectional views when cut in the thickness direction of the transducer.

The ion exchange resin is a resin formed of an ion conductive polymer, and is a resin in which negative ions or positive ions are immobilized inside. The resin may be handled in the form of a membrane and may be referred to as an ion exchange membrane, but in the following embodiments including this embodiment, it will be referred to as an ion exchange resin. When the actuator function is provided as in the present invention, the ion exchange resin is generally kept in a water-containing state, and positive ions or negative ions are suspended in the water. In the present embodiment, it is assumed that the
Here, the operation of the
FIG. 2- (a) shows an example of the shape of the
The force generated by the
In the description of this embodiment, the
(Second Embodiment)
In the description of the following embodiments including this embodiment, the same reference numerals are given to the same configurations as those of the above-described embodiments, and the description thereof is omitted.
In the present embodiment, the
Further, the

This embodiment is an example in which a
