Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an image adjustment method in a multi-screen display device that displays a plurality of screens on a single image display device, and more particularly to image adjustment in a multi-screen display device that achieves low power consumption by adjusting the brightness of the display screen. Regarding the method.
Conventionally, by combining multiple image display devices and placing them in close contact on the same plane, the entire screen can be displayed as a large screen like a single screen, or different images can be displayed on each image display device. The device is used as a display for lectures, event venues, surveillance systems, and the like.
If there is not enough space to install multiple image display devices, or if multiple devices cannot be installed in terms of cost, the screen can be divided by one image display device to display multiple screens. A screen display device is realized.
In such a multi-screen display device, a plasma display panel (PDP), a liquid crystal display (LCD), a projection display (projector) or the like, which is a large screen display, is used as an image display device.
In such an image display device, it is a problem to suppress an increase in power consumption, and various methods have been proposed. As one of these methods, there is a method of adjusting the luminance by the average picture level (APL) of the screen. In a display with a light source, a screen with high brightness generally achieves high brightness by increasing the light emission intensity of the light source, but this requires a lot of power consumption. The brightness is adjusted to reduce the brightness as much as possible, and the light emission intensity of the light source is weakened to reduce the power consumption.
As a conventional technique for suppressing an increase in power consumption using APL in such an image display apparatus, for example, there is a technique disclosed in Patent Document 1. Patent Document 1 detects an average luminance level for each region in a display screen, and controls the shading process for each region based on the luminance level of the input video, thereby increasing the screen without increasing power consumption. This is to increase the brightness at the center and realize high-quality images with good contrast.
Further, as a conventional technique using APL in multi-screen display by a plurality of image display devices, there is a technique disclosed in
The conventional technique described in the background art has a problem that it is not compatible with a multi-screen display device that displays a plurality of screens with a single image display device. For example, in Patent Document 1, the display screen is divided and controlled for each divided region. However, since the luminance at the center of the screen is increased, it is not suitable for multi-screen display in which a plurality of screens are displayed.
Further, the conventional method described in
The present invention has been made to solve the above problems, and provides an image adjustment method in a multi-screen display device that achieves low power consumption by adjusting the brightness of the entire screen by each APL of a plurality of screens. The issue is to provide.
The said subject can be achieved by the structure as described in a claim as an example.
ADVANTAGE OF THE INVENTION According to this invention, the image adjustment method in the multi-screen display apparatus which implement | achieves low power consumption can be provided by adjusting the brightness | luminance of the whole screen by each APL of multiple screens.

Next, a processing procedure when data is received from the
FIG. 6 shows a transmission data format including APL in this embodiment, which is used when the data received in step S402 is analyzed by the
If the APL data cannot be received for some reason, the APL data may be requested to be retransmitted. If the previously received APL data remains in the APL
Through the above processing, the brightness of the entire screen (emission intensity) is adjusted by each APL of multiple screens, so that the brightness of the entire screen can be suppressed, and low power consumption is achieved by reducing the intensity of the light source. An image adjustment method in a multi-screen display device can be provided.

If the image data cannot be received for some reason, the image data may be requested to be retransmitted. If the previously received APL data remains in the APL
By the above processing, the brightness of the entire screen (emission intensity) is adjusted by each APL of multiple screens, so that the brightness of the entire screen can be suppressed, and an image adjustment method in a multi-screen display device that realizes low power consumption. Can be provided. Moreover, since it is only necessary to send image data on the PC side, there is no need to add special processing to the PC side.
This embodiment is different from the first embodiment in a multi-screen display device in which a weighted average value is calculated for the APL of each screen image and brightness (light emission intensity) adjustment is performed using the average value. This is an image adjustment method. In addition, since the figure which shows schematic structure in the multi-screen display apparatus in a present Example is the same as FIG. 1, the block diagram of the
Details of the processing procedure for adjusting the luminance (light emission intensity) and displaying the screen in this embodiment will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG.
FIG. 7 is a flowchart showing a processing procedure for adjusting the luminance and displaying the screen in this embodiment. Since most of the processing steps are the same as those in FIG. 4 in the first embodiment, only the differences from the first embodiment will be described. Compared to FIG. 4 shown in the first embodiment, in FIG. 7, after storing the APL of each screen (step S408), the APL data is compared and sorted (step S701). After that, the average value is calculated by weighting in order from the lowest APL value (step S702). For example, the weighting is 1 times, 0.9 times, 0.8 times, and 0.7 times from the lowest APL value. Taking each APL value in the first embodiment as an example, since the APL values from the
By the above processing, the brightness of the entire screen (emission intensity) is adjusted by the weighted average value of each APL of multiple screens, so that the brightness of the entire screen can be suppressed, and the intensity of the light source is reduced to reduce the brightness. An image adjustment method in a multi-screen display device that realizes power consumption can be provided.
In the present embodiment, in contrast to the first embodiment, when the difference from the previously displayed brightness on the screen is equal to or greater than a certain value (threshold value), the brightness (light emission intensity) is adjusted step by step, thereby increasing the brightness rapidly. This is an image adjustment method in a multi-screen display device when avoiding a change.
FIG. 8 is a flowchart showing a processing procedure for adjusting the luminance and displaying the screen in this embodiment. Since most of the processing steps are the same as those in FIG. 4 in the first embodiment, only the differences from the first embodiment will be described. Compared to FIG. 4 shown in the first embodiment, in FIG. 8, after comparing the APLs of the respective screens (step S409), the luminance adjustment unit 207 calculates the luminance based on the comparison result (step S409) S801). The luminance calculation method may be calculated from the minimum APL as in the first embodiment, or may be calculated from the weighted average value of each APL as in the second embodiment. Thereafter, the brightness calculated in step S801 is stored (step S802). The brightness adjustment unit 207 may store the information in a volatile memory such as a RAM. Thereafter, it is determined whether or not the difference between the previously displayed luminance stored and the luminance calculated in step S801 is equal to or greater than a certain value (threshold value Th) (step S803). If it is equal to or greater than the threshold Th, the brightness (light emission intensity) is adjusted based on a value obtained by subtracting a certain value (α) from the previously displayed brightness (step S804). The constant value α should be a value that is less than or equal to the threshold value Th, but the smallest possible value can reduce the light emission intensity in stages, so there is no sudden brightness change and it is difficult to notice the change visually. It's okay. Screen display is performed in the same manner as in FIG. 4 with the luminance (light emission intensity) adjusted in step S804 (step S411). If it is smaller than the threshold value Th in step S803, the same brightness (emission intensity) adjustment as in FIG. 4 is performed (step S410), and screen display is performed (step S411). After step S411, it is determined whether the adjusted brightness has reached the brightness calculated in step S801 (step S805). If not, the process returns to step S804 and the process is repeated. If the calculated luminance has been reached in step S805, the series of processing ends.
By the above process, if the difference from the previous screen display brightness is a certain value (threshold value) or more, the brightness (light emission intensity) is adjusted step by step, so that even if an extremely different APL is received, the brightness changes rapidly It is possible to provide an image adjustment method in a multi-screen display device that can avoid the above.
