Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an ink supply device that supplies pigment ink to an ink jet head and an ink jet recording apparatus including the ink supply device.
Conventionally, as this type of ink supply apparatus, an ink replenishment unit (ink supply source) that supplies ink (pigment ink) to an ink jet recording head (inkjet head), and a tube (ink) that connects the ink jet recording head and the ink replenishment unit Supply channel), a sub-tank unit (ink reservoir) interposed in the tube, and a float valve provided in the sub-tank unit and maintaining the liquid level of the sub-tank unit at a certain level is known. (See FIG. 5 of Patent Document 1).
In this ink supply device, when the liquid level of the ink stored in the sub tank unit is lowered by the ejection drive of the ink jet recording head, the float valve pivotally supported by the shaft is inclined as the liquid level is lowered, and the ink injection port Ink is refilled in the sub tank unit. When the ink reaches a predetermined liquid level, the float valve seals the ink injection port and stops supplying ink. Thereby, the liquid level of the sub tank unit is maintained at a constant level, and ink can be supplied to the ink jet recording head with a constant water head pressure.
However, in such an ink supply apparatus, when an ink having a particularly high specific gravity of the pigment relative to the solvent, such as white UV ink (ultraviolet curable ink), is used as the ink, the sub tank unit or the like can be The pigment settles in the ink flow path, causing discoloration and ejection failure. In such a case, it is conceivable that the ink is circulated in the ink flow path and the precipitation of the pigment is eliminated by stirring. However, since the float valve is provided in the sub tank unit, it is assumed that the float valve operates (opens and closes) during circulation, and ink circulation is not performed well.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide an ink supply device and an ink jet recording apparatus provided with the ink supply device capable of appropriately stirring the pigment ink regardless of the supply form of the pigment ink.
An ink supply apparatus according to the present invention is an ink supply apparatus that supplies pigment ink to an inkjet head, an ink supply source that supplies ink to the inkjet head, and an ink supply channel that connects the inkjet head and the ink supply source. , An ink reservoir provided in the ink supply channel, a float valve provided in the ink reservoir and maintaining the liquid level in the ink reservoir at a certain level, and a valve operation for forcibly opening the float valve A bypass channel having one end connected to the downstream side of the ink reservoir in the ink supply channel and the other end connected to the ink supply source, a bypass channel opening / closing unit for opening and closing the bypass channel, and a bypass flow And a control means for controlling the valve operating means, the bypass flow path opening / closing means and the liquid delivery means. The control means is based on a stirring command. Te, after forcibly opening operation of the bypass flow channel opening and closing means causes the opening operation of the float valve, and drives the feeding means.
According to this configuration, the float valve is forcibly opened and the bypass flow path opening / closing means is opened to circulate the pigment ink in the ink supply flow path, the ink storage section, and the bypass flow path. A flow path is configured. When the liquid feeding means is driven in this state, the pigment ink is circulated through the circulation channel and stirred. In this case, since the float valve is forcibly opened, the float valve is not opened / closed by the liquid level of the ink reservoir, and the circulation of the pigment ink is not hindered. Thereby, even when the pigment has settled in the solvent, the pigment ink can be efficiently stirred. Therefore, even when a pigment ink having a particularly large specific gravity with respect to the solvent is used, it is possible to effectively prevent deterioration in printing quality such as discoloration and ejection failure of the inkjet head.
In this case, the other end of the bypass channel is preferably connected to an ink supply channel in the vicinity of the ink supply source instead of the ink supply source.
According to this configuration, since the circulation flow path can be formed between the ink supply flow path, the ink storage section, and the bypass flow path, and the pigment ink can be circulated, not only the pigment ink settled in the ink storage section, The pigment ink (precipitation ink) of all the channels can be stirred.
In this case, the apparatus further includes supply channel opening / closing means interposed in the ink supply channel in the vicinity of the upstream side of the ink reservoir and opening and closing the ink supply channel, and the other end of the bypass channel is replaced with the ink supply source. Thus, it is preferable that the control means is connected to the ink supply flow path between the supply flow path opening / closing means and the ink reservoir, and the supply flow path opening / closing means is closed before driving the liquid feeding means.
According to this configuration, the pigment ink from the bypass channel does not flow backward toward the ink supply source, and the pigment ink in the ink reservoir can be efficiently stirred.
In this case, the valve operating means is interposed between the drive source, the valve opening mechanism that transmits the power of the drive source to the float valve, and opens the float valve, and the valve opening mechanism and the float valve. And a clutch mechanism for intermittently transmitting power transmitted from the valve mechanism to the float valve.
According to this configuration, since the power from the valve opening mechanism to the float valve can be interrupted by the clutch mechanism, the free on-off valve operation of the float valve during printing is not impaired.
An ink jet recording apparatus according to the present invention includes the above ink supply device, an ink jet head that receives ink supplied from the ink supply device, a carriage on which the ink jet head is mounted, and an ink jet head via the carriage when printing on a recording medium. And a print movement mechanism for moving the image relative to the recording medium.
According to this configuration, since the pigment ink on which the pigment has not settled can be supplied to the inkjet head, it is possible to appropriately execute a drawing operation that does not cause discoloration or the like.
In this case, the ink reservoir is preferably mounted on the carriage.
According to this configuration, since the ink reservoir and the inkjet head are disposed close to each other, the pigment ink can be appropriately drawn without being settled during supply to the inkjet head.
In this case, the apparatus further includes an ink suction unit that is in close contact with the nozzle surface of the inkjet head and sucks pigment ink from the nozzle of the inkjet head. The control unit further controls the ink suction unit and stops driving the liquid feeding unit. It is preferable to perform a suction operation for sucking the pigment ink from the nozzles of the inkjet head later.
According to this configuration, by the suction operation, the precipitated ink on the ink jet head side can be sucked and discarded, and the pigment ink on which the pigment has not settled can be filled in the ink jet head.
Hereinafter, an ink jet recording apparatus equipped with an ink supply device of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. This ink jet recording apparatus ejects ultraviolet curable ink (pigment ink) to a thin film recording medium to be discharged in a so-called reel-to-reel format by an ink jet head, thereby obtaining a desired image or the like. The Y-axis table 7 includes a Y-

The
In this embodiment, so-called ultraviolet curable ink is used, and the
The
The
The
As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, each
The

The
The
The

As shown in FIG. 3, the
