Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an optical display device including an optical structure that includes a plurality of thin film layers and displays characters with a design pattern removed by irradiating light from behind.
Conventionally, an optical device having a mask layer with optical characteristics that transmits only light in a predetermined wavelength band on which a design pattern such as characters, symbols, or figures is printed on a display surface of an electric appliance such as a cellular phone, a personal computer, and a home appliance. A film is provided to allow the user to explain the function and prompt the user to make some input by visually recognizing the letters and the like illuminated by a backlight as a visible light source. For example, in a cellular phone, a numeric keypad on which numbers are printed is basically a key for inputting a telephone number, and when the numeric key illuminated by a backlight is pushed, the number is input as a telephone number.
There is provided a technique related to an optical display device in which a plurality of mask layers of such design patterns are prepared, overlapped (interlaced), and different design patterns are displayed by using different color backlights.
However, there are some problems in arranging different design patterns in a mixed manner. For example, a two-layer mask layer (first and second mask layers) that allows a red and blue design pattern to be visually observed as in
Here, in the characteristics of the first mask layer, it is ideal that the transmittance of the blue irradiation light is close to 100%, there is no difference in the amount of light depending on the presence or absence of the mask pattern, and the transmittance of the red irradiation light is close to 0%. (The opposite is true for the second mask layer). However, in practice, it is difficult for an absorbing material such as a dye to provide a difference in transmittance so clearly in the mask layer according to the difference in wavelength. As a result, the following problems arise.
For example, when the first mask layer is designed to give priority to the transmission of blue irradiation light as shown in FIG. 5, the red transmittance does not become 0%. Since light leaks from the mask layer, the contrast becomes weak and the visibility and readability deteriorate.
On the other hand, if the first mask layer is designed so that the transmittance of the red irradiation light is low as shown in FIG. 6 (therefore, the layer is generally made thicker), the light will not leak from the first mask layer. However, the transmittance with respect to the blue irradiation light is lowered, and when blue is used as the irradiation light, absorption occurs and the first mask layer can be visually observed. As a result, fogging of the design pattern of the second mask layer and the first mask layer, which is originally premised on that the design pattern can be visually observed with blue irradiation light, will occur.
Now, in FIG. 5 and FIG. 6, in the first mask layer, the threshold value of the region where the first mask layer is actually not visible with the blue irradiation light is set to the first saturation level, while the actual light is Here, the threshold value of the region where no leakage is felt is the second saturation level. (Note that light that does not pass through the mask layer (light that passes through the region without the mask pattern) has a transmittance of 100%, and therefore is at or above the first saturation level.) At least the first mask layer is irradiated with blue irradiation light. Even if the transmissivity is not 100%, it is equal to or higher than the first saturation level or close to the first saturation level, and even if the transmissivity of red irradiation light is not 0%, When the second saturation level is approached, the mask characteristics are further improved.
The present invention has been made paying attention to such problems existing in the prior art. The object is to provide an optical display device that is effective in preventing light leakage in the mask layer and fogging of the plurality of mask layers.

In the optical display device having such a configuration, the irradiation light of the visible light source corresponding to each mask layer is transmitted or not transmitted according to the design pattern of each mask layer, so that the design of each mask layer according to the visible light source. Make the pattern visible to the viewer (user) from outside. At this time, the portion of the design pattern where the plurality of mask layers overlap is a portion where light is shielded in each pattern. By disposing a retroreflective layer on the overlapping film portion of the design pattern, unnecessary light is blocked, and the light to be absorbed is reflected and returned to the visible light source direction. Then, the light is redirected in the mask layer direction by, for example, reflection means from a printed board on which visible light sources are arranged. That is, by reflecting the light that should originally be absorbed by the mask layer, it is added to the light for passing through the design pattern and floating the design pattern, resulting in an increase in the amount of light. As the image, the increase in the total amount of light makes it impossible to identify the difference in light amount due to the presence or absence of the mask pattern, and the first saturation level in FIG. Furthermore, when the design pattern is positive (pattern in which symbols such as letters are displayed with light), the film formation portion of the design pattern has a considerable area, and the light in this region is added to the reflected light. Greatly contributes to the increase in light intensity and can also be expected to save energy. Further, since the retroreflective layer reflects light and hardly transmits it, it is easy to shield without increasing the density of the mask layer, and the amount of transmitted light can be reduced below the second saturation level.
Here, the “retroreflective layer” must not be disposed at a position other than the overlapping design pattern position of the plurality of mask layers. This is because the retroreflective layer disposed at that position impedes the transmission according to the design pattern of the irradiation light of any visible light source. It is not necessary to arrange the retroreflective layer in all areas of the overlapping design pattern. It is advantageous in handling that the retroreflective layer is formed on a transparent substrate to be a part of the optical structure.
The “reflecting means” is not particularly limited as long as it is a means that faces the retroreflective layer and redirects light toward the mask layer. It may be provided in the visible light source itself or may be provided around the visible light source.
It is preferable that a diffusion layer for irregularly reflecting visible light from the visible light source is disposed between the retroreflective layer and the mask layer disposed closest to the visible light source. Visible light sources such as incandescent light bulbs and LEDs are generally point light sources, so that the light emitted from the visible light source can be dispersed and the transmitted light can be uniformly homogenized.
Further, it is preferable that a diffusion layer is disposed on the external light side of the mask layer. With such a configuration, when the design pattern of the mask layer is fogged due to the diffusion of light, an effect can be provided such that this is not visible. In addition, there is an effect of making it difficult to see the design pattern of the mask layer by external light.
In addition, the upper layer of the plurality of mask layers is provided with a predetermined absorption rate or a predetermined reflectivity that does not allow the design patterns of the plurality of mask layers to be seen through by external light, and a predetermined light transmission light from a visible light source is transmitted. It is preferable that a shielding layer having transmittance is disposed. As a result, when the visible light source is not turned on in the optical display device and only the external light is given, the design pattern of the mask layer is not seen through and the visible light source is turned on when the visible light source is turned on. The design pattern according to the type can be seen through the shielding layer. More specifically, the shielding layer is a dark color layer that exhibits a dark color such that the lightness is reduced by absorbing external light and the design pattern of the plurality of mask layers by the external light is not seen through. It is conceivable that the predetermined transmittance at is set larger than the absorptivity.
In addition, the light color layer is a light-colored layer that has a light color that increases brightness by reflecting external light and does not allow the design pattern of the plurality of mask layers to be seen through by external light, and the predetermined transmittance in the light-colored layer is larger than the reflectance. What you set is possible.
Here, the dark color layer and the light color layer particularly mean the level of lightness, and it does not matter whether there is saturation or not. The representative of the dark color is black and the representative of the light color is white. However, since the degree of black and white is a relative concept that changes depending on the surrounding color and the amount of ambient light, the brightness is 0%. It does not mean only black or 100% lightness.
多層膜の各構成膜層は金属もしくは金属窒化物もしくは金属酸化物もしくは金属フッ化物からなる膜素材であって、例えばCr(クロム)、Ni(ニッケル)、Si(シリコン)、Si3N4(窒化シリコン)TiO2(二酸化チタン)、Ta2O5(五酸化タンタル)、SiO2(酸化ケイ素)、MgF2(フッ化マグネシウム)、CaF2(フッ化カルシウム)、ZrO2(酸化ジルコニュウム)らが挙げられる。
Here, the mask layer, retroreflective layer, and shielding layer of the present invention are film bodies having a thickness of several tens of nanometers to several hundreds of micrometers, and are appropriately formed alone or in an overlapping manner on one or more transparent substrates. Be filmed.
These layers may be composed of a dielectric multilayer film. Generally, the dielectric thin film layer itself has a multilayer film structure. It is possible to freely control the transmitted light (that is, reflected light) by designing the number of dielectric thin films, the film material, and the film thickness. Each constituent film layer of the multilayer film is a film material made of metal, metal nitride, metal oxide, or metal fluoride. For example, Cr (chromium), Ni (nickel), Si (silicon), Si 3 N 4 ( silicon nitride) TiO 2 (titanium dioxide), Ta 2 O 5 (tantalum pentoxide), SiO 2 (silicon oxide), MgF 2 (magnesium fluoride), CaF 2 (calcium fluoride), ZrO 2 (oxidation Jirukonyuumu) et Is mentioned.
In the present invention, the number of mask layers configured is not particularly limited. A dielectric optical film can be configured by selecting and combining compounds in order to exhibit reflection performance or transmission performance for a desired wavelength. The method for forming the dielectric thin film layer is not particularly limited, but it is generally preferable to form the film by a vapor deposition method or a sputtering method.
Further, it is conceivable that these layers are formed by a predetermined film forming method (printing, spin coating, dipping, coating, dyeing, etc.) with fine particles dispersed in a binder resin. The binder resin is not particularly limited as long as it is substantially transparent and does not significantly change the irradiation light. Examples thereof include polyester, polycarbonate, urethane resin, acrylic resin, methacrylic resin, organosilicon resin, and fluorine resin. Specific examples of the fine particle material include silica particles, pigments, dyes, and fluorescent agents.
本発明は例えば、家電製品、携帯電話、PDA(Personal Digital Assistants)のような電化製品の表示画面に応用することが可能である。
The transparent substrate used in the present invention is not particularly limited as long as it is a material that can be generally formed on the surface and has a property of transmitting light from a visible light source. Methyl methacrylate and its copolymers, polypropylene, polyethylene, vinyl chloride, ABS resin, phenol resin, melamine resin, silicone resin, NBR resin, AS resin, etc. are listed as examples. Visible light source even if it is colored or decorated There is no problem as long as the amount of transmitted light can be secured.
The present invention can be applied to display screens of electrical appliances such as home appliances, mobile phones, and PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants).
In the invention of each of the above claims, the irradiation light to be absorbed by the retroreflective layer disposed in the film forming portion of the design pattern of the overlapping mask layer is reflected and added to the light for raising the design pattern. Therefore, it is possible to contribute to improving the contrast of the design pattern and preventing fogging of the plurality of mask layers.

Table 2 shows inks that can be used for the
As shown in the graph (1) of Table 1, the
On the other hand, as shown in the graph (2) of Table 1, the

Moreover, as shown in the graph (1) of Table 3, the
By adopting such a configuration, the following operations and effects are achieved.
