Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus.
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, image forming apparatuses such as copying machines and laser beam printers have often used a method in which an unfixed toner image transferred onto an image support such as paper is contact-heat-fixed by a heat roller method after toner development. It was.
However, in the heat roller system, it takes time to heat up to a fixing temperature, and a large amount of heat energy is required. In recent years, the thermal film fixing method has become mainstream from the viewpoint of shortening the time (warm-up time) from power-on to copy start and saving energy.
In this thermal film fixing type fixing device (fixing device), a seamless fixing belt is used in which a release layer such as a fluororesin is laminated on the outer surface of a heat resistant film such as polyimide.
In such a heat film fixing type fixing device, for example, the film is heated via a ceramic heater, and the toner image is fixed on the surface of the film. Therefore, the thermal conductivity of the film is an important point. However, if an attempt is made to improve the thermal conductivity by reducing the thickness of the fixing belt film, the mechanical strength is lowered, and it is difficult to rotate at high speed, which causes a problem in forming a high-quality image at high speed.
In order to solve such problems, in recent years, proposals have been made to use a fixing belt film in which boron nitride or graphite is filled in a belt resin for the purpose of improving thermal conductivity, and heat is generated in the IH heater fixing method and the fixing belt itself. There has been proposed a system in which a toner image is fixed by directly heating a fixing belt by supplying a power to the heating element. This type of image forming apparatus has a short warm-up time and low power consumption, and is excellent as a heat fixing device from the viewpoint of energy saving and speeding up (see, for example,
However, from the viewpoints of further energy saving, higher durability of the fixing device, and higher image quality, the image forming apparatuses of
That is, even if boron nitride is filled as the heat conductive inorganic powder in the resin constituting the belt, there is a certain effect, but the resin and boron nitride have conventionally poor wettability and the interface includes an air layer. For this reason, with respect to the recent increase in speed, there are problems such as a decrease in durability due to a decrease in belt strength and a decrease in thermal conductivity due to the inclusion of an air layer. In addition, uniform dispersion in the resin is difficult, and unevenness in thermal conductivity occurs. As a result, image defects also occur. That is, when small-size paper is continuously passed, a portion where the paper does not pass through the fixing belt is heated (for example, 260 ° C. or more). When large-size paper is passed in this state, high-temperature offset and gloss unevenness due to toner overmelting occur. Further, as the printing speed is increased, a gloss level difference occurs in the fixing belt cycle, or a gloss level difference occurs when the amount of adhering toner varies greatly in the same image.
As a technique for preventing the occurrence of a gloss step due to the paper size change, a technique described in Patent Document 5 is known.
However, with the technique of the above-mentioned Patent Document 5, the control is complicated and insufficient for speeding up. In view of the above, it is required to achieve both shortening of the warm-up time, high durability of the fixing device, and high image quality with suppressed occurrence of a gloss level difference.
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and achieves shortening (energy saving) of time (warm-up time) from power-on to copy start, achieving high durability and high image quality of the fixing device. An object of the present invention is to provide an image forming apparatus capable of performing the above.

The image forming apparatus of the present invention includes a fixing surface member, a heating base that converts electric power into heat to heat the fixing surface member, a pressure member that forms a nip portion together with the fixing surface member heated by the heating base, And a fixing device that fixes the toner on the recording material by passing the recording material through the nip portion.
And either of the fixing surface member, the heat generating substrate, or the layer between the fixing surface member and the heat generating substrate has an absorption peak by diffuse reflection infrared spectroscopy in the range of 3600 cm −1 to 3750 cm −1 , and Contains boron nitride powder having an average volume particle size of 0.2 μm or more and 4 μm or less.
Hereinafter, the boron nitride powder used in the present invention will be described.
[Boron nitride powder]
In general, boron nitride is an aggregate of flat particles, and it is difficult to uniformly disperse the primary particles in the resin. In addition, there is a problem that the wettability at the interface between the resin and the boron nitride is deteriorated and the resin strength is reduced, or an air layer remains at the interface and the thermal conductivity is lowered.
Therefore, in the present invention, by using boron nitride powder having an absorption peak by diffuse reflection infrared spectroscopy measurement in the range of 3600 cm −1 to 3750 cm −1 and having an average volume particle diameter of 0.2 μm or more and 4 μm or less. , Uniform dispersion into the resin becomes possible.
The absorption peak measured by diffuse reflectance infrared spectroscopy in the range of 3600 cm −1 to 3750 cm −1 does not disappear even after heat treatment, and thus is considered to be a peak of an OH group covalently bonded to a boron atom. Due to the presence of the OH group, the boron nitride powder is easily dispersed in the organic solvent. Further, it is possible to further improve the uniform dispersibility by bonding a silane coupling agent to the OH group. Further, commercially available boron nitride has no OH group.
The average volume particle size of the boron nitride powder is set to 0.2 μm or more and 4 μm or less. When the average particle size is 0.2 μm or less, the particles aggregate to form secondary particles. This is because when the particles become secondary particles, not only the uniform dispersibility is impaired, but also air enters between the particles, so that the thermal conductivity decreases. When the thickness is 4 μm or more, the ratio of OH groups to the entire area of the particles becomes small, and thus uniform dispersibility is lacking.
The desired boron nitride powder used in the present invention is produced as follows.
Three types of raw materials for boron nitride powder are used: boric acid, borax, and melamine. These raw materials can be obtained by uniformly mixing, firing under the following conditions, removing impurities by washing, and mechanically dispersing to primary particles.

Boric acid and borax are commercially available industrial products and may have a purity of 99% or more. The properties are granule and powder, but powder is more suitable for uniform mixing.
Na has an effect of promoting the growth of boron nitride crystals even when fired at a relatively low temperature, and among compounds containing this, Na 2 SO 4 , NaCl, borax (Na 2 BO) are relatively easy to handle. 4 O 7 · 10H 2 O) and the like can be used, but borax is preferred in consideration of the influence of by-products.
The mixing ratio of boric acid and borax in these raw materials is preferably 0.02 to 0.3, more preferably 0.04 to 0.25, particularly preferably 0. .
A range of 1 to 0.2 is preferred.
If the ratio of Na / B atoms is less than 0.02, crystal growth on the 0001 face and end face of boron nitride is poor, and thermal conductivity, which is a characteristic of boron nitride, may be lowered. On the other hand, if it exceeds 0.3, the yield is remarkably lowered, and the effect on crystal growth may be flat.
The ratio of the boron atom (B) in boric acid and borax to the nitrogen atom (N) in melamine is preferably blended to 1.5 to 4, more preferably 1.7 to 3 in terms of N / B atomic ratio. .5, particularly preferably in the range of 2-3.
An N / B atomic ratio of less than 1.5 is not preferred because the yield may be significantly reduced. On the other hand, if the N / B atomic ratio is 4 or less, carbonization of C in melamine can be suppressed. That is, when the amount of melamine is large (the amount of N is large), the upper part of BN is clumped in white,
It is possible to suppress the remaining melamine carbide from remaining in the lower part. Thereby, it can prevent that black powder is mixed in white boron nitride powder.
The raw material uniformly mixed by the above blending becomes boron nitride by firing.
The firing temperature is preferably 1100-1600 ° C, more preferably 1150-1500 ° C.
The range of 1200 to 1350 ° C. is particularly preferable.
When the firing temperature is less than 1100 ° C., crystallization is insufficient and the oxygen concentration increases. Also,
The crystal grains are small, secondary agglomerate, the substantial particle size is large,
This is not preferable because it cannot be easily pulverized into primary particles, becomes substantially large particles, dispersibility in the resin is lowered, and thermal conductivity, which is a characteristic of boron nitride, is lowered. On the other hand, if the firing temperature exceeds 1600 ° C., the crystal grain size becomes large and the dispersibility is lowered, which is not preferable.
Moreover, when it is set to 1500 ° C. or lower, it is possible to suppress a decrease in the OH group of the crystal and to prevent a decrease in dispersibility of the boron nitride powder.

When performing the firing method, for example, when the atmosphere in the furnace during firing is in the air, the raw material is placed in a graphite crucible with a lid and fired.
At the time of firing, the mixed raw material changes into melamine borate in a temperature range from room temperature to 400 ° C., and BN is formed as the temperature rises further. Therefore, the heating rate during this period is preferably 50 to 300 ° C./h, more preferably 50 to 200 ° C.
A heating rate of 50 ° C./h or less is not preferable because the manufacturing time takes more than necessary and the cost increases. Further, at 300 ° C./h or more, melamine sublimes before becoming melamine borate, and the yield of BN decreases.

The boron nitride powder of the present embodiment can be obtained by appropriately adjusting various conditions such as the N / B atomic ratio in the raw material, the heating rate in firing, the firing temperature, and the firing atmosphere.
After firing, it becomes a lump together with B 2 O 3 , NaBO 2 and the like in addition to boron nitride.
This is roughly crushed, washed and filtered with water, dilute hydrochloric acid, dilute sulfuric acid or the like to remove impurities and dried. Further, it is pulverized using a hammer mill, a ball mill, a wet / dry jet mill or the like to obtain a boron nitride powder free from aggregates.

In order to improve the dispersibility in the resin, general silicon-based and titanium-based coupling agents may be added.

Here, the heat generating base referred to in the present invention indicates the
In the present embodiment, as shown in FIG. 6, the inner diameter of the fixing
The cored
The
For example, when a silicone sponge material is used as the
The
Alternatively, the material of the
The
The
硬度がこの範囲内となるシリコーンゴムとして、例えば、1成分系、2成分系、または3成分系以上のシリコーンゴム、LTV(LowTemperature Vulcanizable:低温加硫)型、RTV(RoomTemperature Vulcanizable:常温加硫)型、またはHTV(HighTemperature Vulcanizable:高温加硫)型のシリコーンゴム、縮合型または付加型のシリコーンゴム等が使用できる。
The
The
Then, the
Boron nitride powder having an absorption peak by diffuse reflectance infrared spectroscopy in the range of 3600 cm −1 to 3750 cm −1 and having an average volume particle size of 0.2 μm or more and 4 μm or less is described in the first embodiment. As described above, since the thermal conductivity is high, it is possible to achieve both the shortening of warm-up time (energy saving), high durability, and high image quality, which are the problems of the present invention.
Next, the
A
The
Next, the
The
The
The magnetic core 42A is for increasing the efficiency of the magnetic circuit and for magnetic shielding. The magnetic core 42A has a
Each of the magnetic cores 42A is made of a material having high magnetic permeability and low loss. Since a high frequency is used in this embodiment, an eddy current loss in the core tends to be large in a core made of an alloy such as permalloy. Therefore, when using such a material, it is desirable to use a laminated core. In addition, when the magnetic shielding of the magnetic circuit portion by the exciting coil 4A1 and the magnetic core 42A can be sufficiently performed by other means, the core may be omitted (air core). Further, as the magnetic core 42A, a resin material in which magnetic powder is dispersed can be used. Although this material has a slightly low magnetic permeability, there is an advantage that the shape can be freely set.
The
In the present embodiment, as shown in FIG. 9, there is a range 58 </ b> A where the elastic layer 24 </ b> A and the release layer 25 </ b> A are not provided outside the paper passing area at both ends in the axial direction of the fixing belt 28 </ b> A. That is, in this
Further, as the
Furthermore, sealing
Furthermore, since the sealing
Next, the operation of the fixing
In the

Boron nitride powder having an absorption peak by diffuse reflectance infrared spectroscopy in the range of 3600 cm −1 to 3750 cm −1 and having an average volume particle size of 0.2 μm or more and 4 μm or less is described in the first embodiment. As described above, since the thermal conductivity is high, it is possible to achieve both shortening of the warm-up time, high durability, and high image quality, which are the problems of the present invention. The method for producing such boron nitride powder is also as described above.

The following evaluation was performed using the above image forming apparatus.
"Evaluation item"
(Warm-up time)
Non-contact infrared radiation thermometer (manufactured by Keyence Corporation) for the surface temperature of the fixing belt or heating belt when the electromagnetic induction coil is energized while rotating the fixing belt or heating belt with the pressure roller separated The time from the start of energization until the surface temperature reached 180 ° C. was defined as the warm-up time. The results are shown in Table 3 below.
(Belt surface layer temperature difference)
In the process of continuously passing 100 sheets of A6 paper in the vertical direction in each image forming apparatus, the surface temperature of the center portion and the end portion in the axial direction of the fixing belt or heat generating belt is a non-contact infrared radiation thermometer (manufactured by Keyence Corporation). And the temperature difference was evaluated. Further, after 100 sheets of A6 paper were continuously passed in the vertical direction, A3 paper that was solid-developed with unfixed cyan toner (digital toner HD) was fixed, and the difference in gloss between the center and the edge of the image was evaluated. The results are shown in Table 3 below.
(Image density difference)
In each image forming apparatus, after 400,000 sheets of A4 paper were continuously passed, A4 paper that was solid developed with cyan toner (digital toner HD) was fixed. The density of the image was measured at 10 locations, and the maximum value of the density difference was evaluated. The results are shown in Table 3 below.
As is clear from the results in Table 3 above, the image forming apparatuses [1] to [3] (Examples 1 to 3) used the image forming apparatuses [4] to [10] (Comparative Examples 1 to 7). Compared to the case, the temperature difference between the surface temperature of the center portion and the end portion in the axial direction of the fixing belt or the heat generating belt is small, and the difference in image gloss and the difference in density can be suppressed. In other words, since the temperature difference is small and the image gloss difference can be kept small, it can be said that the image has high thermal conductivity and high image quality without unevenness in the thermal conductivity. Further, since the density difference can be suppressed to a small level, it can be said that the strength of the fixing belt and the heat generating belt is increased, and high durability can be achieved.
Also in the warm-up time, the IH image forming apparatus [1] (Example 1) is shorter than the IH image forming apparatus [5] (Comparative Example 2), and the resistance heating image forming apparatus [2]. (Embodiment 2) is shorter than the resistance heating image forming apparatuses [4] and [6] to [9] (Comparative Example 1 and Comparative Examples 3 to 9), and the halogen lamp image forming apparatus [3] (Example 3) was shorter than the halogen lamp image forming apparatus [10]. From the above, it can be said that energy saving can be achieved.
