Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a battery module configured by arranging a plurality of unit cells.
In recent years, from the viewpoint of resource saving or energy saving, a rechargeable secondary battery is used as a power source for portable electronic devices or mobile communication devices. In addition, from the viewpoint of reducing the amount of fossil fuel used or the amount of carbon dioxide emitted, it has been studied to use such a secondary battery as a power source for vehicles or heat storage.
Specifically, it has been studied that a secondary battery (unit cell) is electrically connected to form a battery module, and that this battery module is used as a power source for a vehicle or the like. For example, in the battery module disclosed in
In order to efficiently exhaust the gas exhausted from the unit cell (hereinafter sometimes referred to as “exhaust gas” or “hot gas”) to the outside of the battery module, the exhaust duct has a large internal space. Preferably it is. However, if the internal space of the exhaust duct is large, the ratio of dead space (space in which no unit cell is provided) in the battery module increases, leading to a decrease in the energy density of the battery module.
This invention is made | formed in view of this point, The place made into the objective is to provide the safe battery module by which the fall of the energy density was suppressed.
In the battery module according to the present invention, the case is partitioned into a first battery chamber, a second battery chamber, and an exhaust duct, and the first battery chamber is separated from the second battery chamber by the exhaust duct. ing. The exhaust duct is divided into a first exhaust duct portion and a second exhaust duct portion by a movable member capable of expanding the discharge path in the discharge direction. The first exhaust duct portion is an exhaust duct positioned between the first battery chamber and the movable member, and the second exhaust duct portion is positioned between the second battery chamber and the movable member. This is an exhaust duct.
For example, when gas is discharged from the unit cell in the first battery chamber, the movable member is pushed by the exhaust gas and moves in the discharge direction. Thereby, the internal space of the 1st exhaust duct part expands. The exhaust gas passes through the exhaust duct portion (hereinafter referred to as “expanded exhaust duct portion”) having an expanded internal space and is discharged out of the case.
Here, the “discharge direction” is a direction in which the gas from the unit cell is discharged to the exhaust duct, and may be different from the direction in which the gas is discharged from the discharge port of the unit cell. For example, when the discharge port of the unit cell is formed on the side surface of the sealing plate, the gas discharged from the discharge port of the unit cell is discharged to the exhaust duct after changing the traveling direction outside the unit cell. .
The “exhaust path” is the first exhaust duct when gas is discharged from the unit cell in the first battery chamber, and when gas is discharged from the unit cell in the second battery chamber. Is a second exhaust duct part.
In the battery module according to the present invention, the decrease in energy density is suppressed, and the safety is excellent.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. In addition, this invention is not limited to embodiment shown below.
The battery module according to the embodiment of the present invention is configured by arranging a plurality of unit cells. Below, it demonstrates in order of a unit cell and a battery module.
FIG. 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of a unit cell in the present embodiment.
The
The
FIG. 2 is a plan view showing the internal structure of the
The
The
The
Thus, in the
In addition, the energy density of the battery module is reduced as compared with the case where the exhaust duct dedicated to the first battery chamber and the exhaust duct dedicated to the second battery chamber are provided in the battery module (hereinafter referred to as “comparison”). Can be prevented. For example, it is assumed that it is necessary to provide an exhaust duct having an internal space volume of V or more in order to safely discharge high-temperature gas out of the module. In the case of comparison, the volume of the internal space of each of the exhaust duct dedicated to the first battery chamber and the exhaust duct dedicated to the second battery chamber has to be V or more, so the total volume of the internal space of the exhaust duct is 2V or more. On the other hand, in the present embodiment, a part of the exhaust duct 29 (volume V 1 of the part where the
Further, since the
In addition, since the
Here, reference is made to the cross-sectional area of the exhaust duct.
In order to exhaust the exhaust gas from the
In order to move the
When the groove portion is formed in the
Note that one of the
Moreover, a rail may be formed on one of the
Then, an example of a movable member and a regulating member is shown below. 3 and 4 show a first example of the movable member and the regulating member, FIGS. 5 and 6 show a second example of the movable member and the regulating member, and FIG. 7 shows a third example of the movable member and the regulating member. An example is shown. In the first example, a groove is formed in the movable member. In the second example, a through hole is formed in the movable member. In the third example, an insertion portion is formed in the movable member. Hereinafter, it demonstrates in order.
3 is a perspective view of a main part of the
The
On the inner surface of each
In such a

In the
The present embodiment may have the following configuration.
The restriction member may be a part of the inner wall of the case. In other words, a groove or a through hole may be formed on the inner surface of the case, or an insertion portion may be provided on the inner surface of the case.
The material of the movable member and the regulating member is not particularly limited. However, the impacted part is preferably made of, for example, iron, stainless steel (Stainless Used Steel), or aluminum. If the impacted part is made of iron, the heat of the exhaust gas can be released to the impacted part, so that the temperature of the gas discharged from the discharge port can be lowered. Therefore, the safety of the battery module can be further improved. Further, if the impacted part is made of aluminum, the impacted part can be reduced in weight, so that the movable member can be easily moved in the discharge direction by the impact of the exhaust gas colliding with the impacted part. Further, from the viewpoint of easily moving the movable member in the discharging direction, it is preferable that the colliding part has a thickness of 5 mm or less, for example.
Each shape of a groove part and an insertion part is not limited to the shape shown in FIGS. The number and position of the groove portions are not limited to the number and position shown in FIGS. 3, 5, and 7, and the number and position of the insertion portions are not limited to the numbers and positions shown in FIGS. 3, 5, and 7. The groove portion only needs to extend in the discharge direction, and the insertion portion only needs to be shorter than the groove portion in the discharge direction.
The material of the case is not limited to iron, and may be a resin. However, if the case is made of a material having excellent thermal conductivity (metal material such as iron or copper), part of the heat of the exhaust gas can be released to the case. Therefore, the case is preferably made of a material having excellent thermal conductivity.
The plurality of unit cells may be held in a case by being held by a holder made of a material having excellent thermal conductivity (for example, aluminum). Thereby, since the heat of the unit cell can be released to the holder, the safety of the battery pack is further improved.
The plurality of unit cells may be arranged in a row or two-dimensionally in the case. For example, if a plurality of unit cells are arranged in a staggered pattern, an increase in the volume of the battery module due to an increase in the number of unit cells can be suppressed.
The position of the discharge port of the unit cell in the case is not limited to the position shown in FIG. For example, the discharge port portion of the unit cell may be located on the wall surface side of the case (the side opposite to the exhaust duct). In this case, if the discharge port of the unit cell is communicated with the exhaust duct via a connecting pipe or the like, substantially the same effect as that obtained in the above embodiment can be obtained. However, if the discharge port of the unit cell is located at the position shown in FIG. 2, a safe battery module can be provided without increasing the number of components of the battery module.
The number of unit cells constituting the battery module is not limited to the number shown in FIG.
The plurality of unit cells may be connected in series or in parallel in the case. Moreover, the structure for electrically connecting a plurality of unit cells to each other is not particularly limited. For example, the partition plate may serve as a positive electrode bus bar, a negative electrode bus bar, or a bipolar bus bar.
The partition plate may be formed with through-holes equal to or more than the number of unit cells accommodated in the battery chamber.
The unit cell may be a prismatic battery.
