Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an image processing apparatus, and more particularly, to an image processing apparatus that suppresses the occurrence of moire and outputs a good image.
In general, digital image processing apparatuses such as a digital copying apparatus that outputs digitized image data from a digital printer such as a laser beam printer and reproduces the image are widely used instead of the conventional analog image processing apparatus due to the development of digital equipment. ing.
The digital image processing apparatus generally employs a method of reproducing a gradation by a halftone process such as a dither method in order to reproduce a halftone.
Gradation reproduction by the dither method is good in a portion with a small amount of high-frequency components such as a flat portion, but a break called jaggy may occur in a character / thin line portion. In addition, there is a drawback that the period of the dither interferes with a high-frequency component (particularly, a periodic pattern close to the period of the dither) included in the input image, and a periodic striped pattern called a moire phenomenon occurs.
。 On the other hand, there is an error diffusion method as a gradation reproduction method other than the dither method. This method calculates the pixel-by-pixel density difference (quantization error) between the pixel density of the input image data and the output pixel density, and after applying a specific weight to the quantization error that is the calculation result, This is a method of diffusing to peripheral pixels (for example, see Non-Patent Document 1).
Since this method has no periodicity and an output image with high resolution can be obtained, the moire phenomenon and the jaggy of the character / thin line portion do not occur.
However, this error diffusion method has drawbacks such that a unique stripe pattern (texture) is generated in the output image, and graininess noise is conspicuous in the highlight and dark portions of the image in electrophotography.
。 In order to eliminate the disadvantages of the dither method and error diffusion method, and to reproduce images with high quality and fineness, the distribution ratio of the dither method and error diffusion method is determined for the input image, and dither processing and error diffusion processing are performed. There is a processing method for switching (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
However, the
In the method of

According to the present invention, it is made to solve the above-described problems, it is not necessary to add complicated processing, the occurrence of moire due to color misregistration correction is suppressed, and the disadvantages of the dither method and error diffusion method are eliminated. It can be removed to form a good image.
Hereinafter, embodiments according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view of an image processing apparatus according to this embodiment.
As shown in the figure, the image processing apparatus according to the present embodiment has a structure of a four-drum type color laser beam printer. The 4-drum system indicates a system in which recording is performed by four photosensitive drums 14 (C, M, Y, K).
In this image processing apparatus, as shown in FIG. 1, a
Note that the toners mounted in the image forming unit differ only in color and there is no structural difference. Therefore, in the following description, the color component C will be described.
The C-color image forming unit stores a charger 50-C for uniformly charging the surface of the photosensitive drum 14-C, C-color toner, and an electrostatic latent image generated on the photosensitive drum 14-C. It has a developing section 52-C for developing (developing) and an exposure section 51-C. A predetermined gap is provided between the developing unit 52-C and the charger 50-C. On the photosensitive drum 14-C, the surface of which is uniformly charged by the charger 50-C, the laser beam is scanned from the exposure unit 51-C, which is a laser scanner, through the gap so as to be perpendicular to the exposure part. When exposed, the scanned and exposed portion is charged differently from the unexposed portion. Thereby, an electrostatic latent image is generated. The developing unit 52-C transfers toner to the electrostatic latent image and visualizes it (toner image; development).
A transfer portion 57 -C is arranged across the conveyance surface of the
By performing the above-described processing for the other color components Y, M, and K in the same manner, the C, M, Y, and K color toners are successively transferred to the recording medium. Thereafter, after fixing each color toner on the recording medium by heat melting by the
The above description relates to an example in which a toner image of each color component is transferred onto a recording medium. However, the toner image of each color component may be transferred onto the transfer conveyance belt, and then the toner image generated on the transfer conveyance belt may be transferred again to the recording medium (secondary transfer). The transfer belt in this case is called an intermediate transfer belt.
FIG. 2 is an image diagram for explaining a shift of a main scanning line scanned on a photosensitive drum 14-C (which may be M, Y, or K) that is an image carrier. The illustrated X-axis direction is the same direction as the scanning direction of the laser beam, and the Y-axis direction is the same direction as the rotation direction of the photosensitive drum (also the conveyance direction of the recording medium). The X axis indicates the amount of movement of the laser beam, and the Y axis indicates the exposure position corresponding to the recording medium.

The color misregistration
The color misregistration
FIG. 6 shows an example of color misregistration amount information stored in the color misregistration
In this embodiment, the color misregistration amount storage unit 403 stores the deviation amount between the ideal main scanning line and the actual main scanning line, but the actual main scanning line inclination and curvature are stored. The information is not limited to this as long as the characteristic is identifiable information. Further, as described above, the information stored in the color misregistration

The

The color misregistration correction
Specifically, this calculation is based on the arithmetic expression of each region based on FIG. 3 when the coordinate data in the main scanning direction is x (dot) and the color shift amount in the sub-scanning direction is y (dot). ing. Here, L1, L2, and L3 are distances (unit: mm) in the main scanning direction from the print start position to the right ends of the

Based on the information indicating the area output from the
The
The
As a result of the above, it is possible to generate integer X and Y addresses in the equations (1) to (3) shown above, and to read the C component data at the corresponding position into the
Here, a more specific example will be described. Assume that the reference Y address is “100”. That is, it is a case where data for performing the 100th scan is generated. It is assumed that the value stored in the
At this time, ideally, the pixel data in which the Y coordinate of the
Hx,y=Cx,y * β + Cx,y+1 * α (式7)
β=1−γ
α=γ (式8)
Hx, y = Cx, y * β + Cx, y + 1 * α (Formula 7)
Here, when the value of the decimal part outputted from the
β = 1−γ
α = γ (Formula 8)
Are in a relationship.
The
In this embodiment, the reference Y address is set to increase by “1” for each scanning operation. Here, it should be noted that the color misregistration correction amount with respect to the reference Y address, that is, the offset amount is the same. Therefore, the decimal point from the coordinate counter 801 (counter 86) is the same every time if the coordinates in the main scanning direction are the same. Therefore, no problem occurs even if the line position focused on by the coordinate

Here, the distribution ratio α of the dither processing and the distribution ratio β of the error diffusion processing are in the relationship of the following formula (9).

FIG. 9 is a flowchart showing a flow of color

In S904 and S905, dither processing and error diffusion processing are performed on the target pixel. The dither processing is executed by the
In the error diffusion processing in S904, processing is performed by selecting, for example, a ternary quantization value having a small quantization value (701b in FIG. 11). Further, in the error diffusion processing in S905, processing is performed by selecting nine quantized values (701a in FIG. 11). Thus, the number of quantization levels is switched according to the color misregistration correction amount.
In step S <b> 906, the mixing processing unit 412 first outputs the distribution
O = α×D+β×E (式10)
O = α × D + β × E (Formula 10)
Here, D is a pixel density value of an image in which the target pixel is reproduced by gradation by dither processing, and E is a pixel density value of an image in which the target pixel is reproduced by gradation by error diffusion processing.
Α and β are the dither processing distribution rate and the error diffusion processing distribution rate described above.
According to
Since the sum of the distribution ratio α of the dither method and the distribution ratio β of the error diffusion method is 1 according to Equation 9, the image density is preserved even when the mixing process is performed.
As described above, output image data serving as a basis for printing is generated by the color misregistration correction processing shown in FIG.
In the above processing, the case where there are two types of distribution rate tables has been described as an example, but a plurality of distribution rate tables may be set according to the color misregistration correction amount.

The
With the above processing, it is possible to suppress generation of moire due to color misregistration correction without adding complicated processing, and to form a good image by removing the disadvantages of the dither method and error diffusion method.
