Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus using an electrophotographic system such as a copying machine, a printer, a facsimile, or a multifunction machine thereof, and a developing device and a process cartridge installed therein, and in particular, a developer in a longitudinal direction. Among the plurality of conveyance members that form a circulation path by conveyance, a conveyance member that supplies at least the developer to the developer carrying member and a conveyance member that collects the developer separated from the developer carrying member are provided. The present invention relates to a developing device, a process cartridge, and an image forming apparatus in which a developer regulating member that regulates a developer amount on the upstream side of a region is disposed below a developer carrier.
。 2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, in an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine or a printer, a developing device that contains a two-component developer composed of a toner and a carrier (including a case where an additive or the like is added), and the developer is long. And a developer regulating member for regulating at least two conveying members in a vertical direction among a plurality of conveying members that form a circulation path by conveying in a direction, and for regulating a developer amount upstream of a developing region The technique of arrange | positioning below is known (for example, refer patent documents 1-3 grade | etc.,).
In a developing device using a two-component developer, toner is appropriately replenished into the developing device from a toner replenishing port provided in a part of the developing device according to toner consumption in the developing device. The replenished toner is agitated and mixed together with the developer in the developing device by a conveying member (agitating and conveying member) such as a conveying screw. Part of the stirred and mixed developer is supplied to a developing roller (developer carrier). After the developer carried on the developing roller is regulated to an appropriate amount by a doctor blade (developer regulating member) installed below the developing roller, the toner in the two-component developer is transferred to the photosensitive drum (image carrier). To the latent image on the photosensitive drum at a position opposite to (). A magnet is fixed inside the developing roller, and a plurality of magnetic poles are formed around the developing roller by the magnet.
In the developing device in
As described above, the developing device in which the plurality of conveying members are arranged in the vertical direction is more developed than the developing device in which the plurality of conveying members are arranged in the horizontal direction (see, for example, FIG. 19 of Patent Document 2). The device can be made compact in the horizontal direction. Therefore, a tandem type color image forming apparatus in which a plurality of developing devices are arranged in parallel in the horizontal direction is often used. In addition, a plurality of transport members are arranged in the vertical direction, and a developer supply path (first transport path) to the developer carrier and a developer recovery path (second transport path) that separates from the developer carrier. ) Is separated from the developing device in which a plurality of conveying members are arranged in parallel in the horizontal direction (see, for example, FIG. 19 of Patent Document 2) and is carried on the developing roller in the developing process. Since the developer to be provided does not easily contain the developer after the development step, the density deviation of the toner image formed on the image carrier can be reduced.
In addition, the image forming apparatus including the developing device in which the doctor blade (developer regulating member) is disposed below the developing roller as described above has a developing device (for example, a doctor blade disposed above the developing roller (for example, The length of the sheet conveyance path from the sheet feed unit (sheet storage unit) disposed below the image forming apparatus to the sheet discharge tray can be shortened as compared with the apparatus having the image forming apparatus (see FIG. 19 of Patent Document 2). Therefore, the first print time in the tandem type color image forming apparatus can be shortened (see, for example, FIG. 1 of Patent Document 2). Furthermore, since the layout in which the paper discharge tray is arranged above the image forming apparatus can be easily taken even if the paper transport path is relatively short, a tandem color image with a reduced horizontal size is provided. Often used in forming equipment.
On the other hand, in
In the developing devices described in
When such a problem occurs, the developer carried on the developing roller and used for the developing process includes the developer after the developing process (the developer in which the toner is consumed). (This phenomenon is referred to as “developer accompanying the developer”), resulting in a density deviation in the toner image formed on the image carrier.
In order to prevent such a problem, the second conveying member that forms the second conveying path (collection path) is disposed below the developing roller and at a position sufficiently away from the developing roller, and is separated from the developing roller. A measure is conceivable in which the developer that has fallen off and dropped by its own weight is transported by the second transport member. However, in this case, since the second transport path is configured to protrude below the first transport path, a toner concentration detection sensor is installed below the second transport member in the second transport path. As a result, only the toner density detection sensor protrudes below the developing device. Therefore, it is desired to install a toner concentration detection sensor above the second transport member using a relatively large space formed above the second transport path. Further, in order not to enlarge the developing device in the longitudinal direction, it is desired to install a toner concentration detection sensor in the longitudinal direction corresponding to the effective image forming area in the developing roller. However, in those cases, it is necessary to perform high toner density control while ensuring high detection accuracy by the toner density detection sensor.
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and includes a first conveying member that supplies developer to the developer carrying member and a second conveying member that collects the developer separated from the developer carrying member. And the developer regulating member is disposed below the developer carrier, and the developer after the development process separated from the developer carrier in the second transport path is developed again. Highly accurate toner concentration control by the toner concentration detection sensor without causing the toner concentration detection sensor to protrude below the developing device or the developing device to be enlarged in the longitudinal direction.

In the writing unit, laser beams corresponding to the image signals are emitted from the four light sources corresponding to the respective colors. Each laser beam passes through a separate optical path for each of the yellow, magenta, cyan, and black color components (this is an exposure process).

FIG. 5 shows a plurality of magnetic poles H1 to H6 formed around the developing
First, the sixth magnetic pole H6 (pumping magnetic pole) acts on a carrier as a magnetic body, and the developer G accommodated in the first transport path is pumped onto the developing
Here, referring to FIG. 5, the above-mentioned six magnetic poles H1 to H6 have five poles magnetized by the magnet 13a1 of the developing
In the present embodiment, the half-value central angle of the first magnetic pole H1 (the central position of the region where the peak magnetic force is halved is the angle formed by the arrow direction in FIG. 6) is −5 °, and the second magnetic pole H2 The half-value center angle is set to 58 °, the half-value center angle of the third magnetic pole H3 is set to 120 °, the half-value center angle of the fifth magnetic pole H5 is set to 212 °, and the half-value center angle of the sixth magnetic pole H6 is set to 280 °. The first magnetic pole H1 has a peak magnetic force of 100 mT, the second magnetic pole H2 has a peak magnetic force of 85 mT, the third magnetic pole H3 has a peak magnetic force of 52 mT, the fifth magnetic pole H5 has a peak magnetic force of 35 mT, and the sixth magnetic pole H6 has a peak magnetic force. It is set to 78 mT.

The first transport screw 13b1 as the first transport member is disposed at a position facing the lower side of the developing

The two conveying screws 13b1 and 13b2 are arranged so that the rotation shaft is substantially horizontal, like the developing
The conveyance path (first conveyance path) by the first conveyance screw 13b1 and the conveyance path (second conveyance path) by the second conveyance screw 13b2 are isolated from each other by a wall portion.

In addition, in order to improve the transportability of the developer (transfer of the developer against the direction of gravity from the second transport path to the first transport path) in the
With such a configuration, a circulation path for circulating the developer G in the longitudinal direction in the developing

Referring to FIG. 4, in the first transport path, developer G is supplied from the upstream side to the downstream side in order to supply the developer to the developing
本実施の形態において用いられるトナーT(現像剤G中のトナー、トナー容器28中のトナーである。)
Hereinafter, the developer G used in the present embodiment will be briefly described.
The toner T (the toner in the developer G and the toner in the toner container 28) used in the present embodiment is a polymerized toner, and a styrene-acrylonitrile-acrylate copolymer as a binder resin. Styrenic resin (monopolymer or copolymer containing styrene or a styrene-substituted product), polyester resin, epoxy resin, or a composite of them can be used. In addition, as a production method (polymerization method) of these polymerized toners, bulk polymerization, solution polymerization, emulsion polymerization, suspension polymerization, and the like can be used.
Further, as the external additive of the toner T, it is preferable to use inorganic fine particles (for example, those having 1.0% by weight of silica and 0.5% by weight of titanium oxide). Furthermore, oxidized rice wax, low molecular weight polypropylene wax, carnauba wax and the like can be used as a release agent. Moreover, a charge control agent can be contained as required.
Further, the toner T used in the present embodiment has a volume average particle diameter of 6 μm, and is formed so that the particle diameter is 5 to 80 μm.
In this embodiment, polymerized toner is used, but pulverized toner can also be used.
The carrier C in the developer G used in the present embodiment is formed so that the weight average particle diameter is 20 to 60 μm.
Specifically, the carrier C is formed by coating the ferrite particles serving as the core material with a methyl methacrylate resin (MMA) having a film thickness of 0.5 μm so as to have the above-described particle size. As the carrier C, a coating carrier having magnetite as a core material can also be used.
By using the carrier C having such a small particle diameter, the solid uniformity of the output image and the halftone image quality can be improved.
Hereinafter, a characteristic configuration / operation in the developing
Referring to FIGS. 2 and 5, the developing
Here, the second conveying screw 13b2 (second conveying member) is disposed below the developing
With such a configuration, the developer G that has separated from the developing
Here, in the present embodiment, with reference to FIGS. 3B, 7B, 8 and the like, the toner
Thus, as described above, even if the second conveyance path is configured to protrude downward from the first conveyance path, the toner
Further, since the toner
Further, in the present embodiment, with reference to FIGS. 3B, 6, 7B, 8 and the like, the developer conveyance is performed from the position where the toner
Here, as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7B, the
In the present embodiment, the toner
Further, as shown in FIGS. 6 and 8, the
With such a configuration, a large amount of the developer G that has fallen off from the developing
そのため、現像工程後の現像剤G(トナー濃度の低い現像剤である。)
The outer wall surface 13r1 of the
Further, the outer wall surface 13r1 of the
With such a configuration, the developer G deposited on the outer wall surface 13r1 is smoothly guided to the second transport path without staying along the inclination of the outer wall surface 13r1.
これにより、現像工程後の現像剤G(トナー濃度の低い現像剤である。)
Further, as shown in FIG. 3B, in the present embodiment, the developer G that has fallen from the developing
As a result, a problem that the developer G (developer having a low toner concentration) after the development process is supplied to the first conveyance path without being detected by the toner
Further, as shown in FIGS. 6 and 8A, the outer surface 13r1 of the
By providing the opening 13r3 in the
9 shows the case where the opening 13r3 is provided in the
In FIG. 9, the horizontal axis indicates the actual toner concentration of the developer G detected by the toner
From the experimental results shown in FIG. 9, the sensitivity characteristic of the toner
In the present embodiment, referring to FIG. 5, the developing
Since the
Further, the position on the developing
With this configuration, the developer G after the development process carried on the developing
Referring to FIG. 5, in the present embodiment, when viewed in a cross section orthogonal to the rotation center axis of the developing
Further, in the present embodiment, the inclination angle of the inclined surface of the
With such a configuration, the developer G detached from the developing
In order to reliably prevent the developer having a small diameter with poor fluidity from staying on the inclined surface, it is preferable that the inclined angle of the inclined surface of the
Referring to FIG. 5, in the present embodiment, the position of the rotation center axis of the first conveyance screw 13b1 is the position of the second conveyance screw 13b2 when viewed in a cross section orthogonal to the rotation center axis of the developing
Thus, the first conveying screw 13b1 can be brought close to the pumping magnetic pole H6 of the developing
As described above, in the present embodiment, the first conveying screw 13b1 (first conveying member) for supplying the developer G to the developing

Further, in the present embodiment, the present invention is applied to an image forming apparatus in which the developing
In the present embodiment, the present invention is applied to the developing
