Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a fuel cell.
In recent years, fuel cells have attracted a great deal of attention as power generators for automobiles and households from the viewpoint of energy saving and environmental measures.
The fuel cell has a cell stack structure in which a plurality of cells are stacked. Each single cell is configured by sandwiching a membrane / electrode assembly (MEA) with a separator. The membrane / electrode assembly includes a solid polymer membrane and an anode (fuel electrode) and a cathode (oxygen electrode) joined to one side and the other side of the solid polymer membrane, respectively. The anode-side separator has a fuel flow path formed on the surface facing the membrane / electrode assembly. In the separator on the cathode side, an air flow path is formed on the surface facing the membrane / electrode assembly. A gasket is interposed between the membrane / electrode assembly and each separator. The fuel flow path and the air flow path are each surrounded by a gasket, thereby preventing fuel leakage from the fuel flow path and air leakage from the air flow path. When fuel is supplied to the fuel flow path and air is supplied to the air flow path, an electrochemical reaction occurs and an electromotive force is generated between the anode and the cathode.
In such a fuel cell, it is necessary to monitor a voltage generated by an electrochemical reaction, and a conductive path for sensing the voltage is formed.
For example, in a configuration in which only the part (reaction part) where the fuel flow path or air flow path in the separator is formed is formed of a conductive material such as conductive carbon, and the surrounding part is formed of an insulating material, the conductive path is The conductive material to be formed is arranged across the inside and outside of the gasket. One end of the conductive material is connected to a portion formed of the conductive material in the separator. The other end portion of the conductive material is disposed on a portion of the separator formed of an insulating material, and functions as a terminal to which the voltage sensor is connected.
However, in the configuration in which the conductive material is provided, the number of parts of the fuel cell is increased, and as a result, the time and cost required for manufacturing the fuel cell are increased due to the increased number of parts. In addition, since the conductive material straddles the gasket, fuel may leak from the portion where the conductive material and the gasket intersect.
On the other hand, proposals have been made to form a gasket interposed between the membrane / electrode assembly and the separator with conductive rubber.
When the gasket is made of conductive rubber, the gasket can be used as a part of the conductive path if a part of the gasket is connected to the part of the separator where the fuel flow path is formed. However, when the gasket is made of conductive rubber, the gasket is greatly deteriorated by contact with fuel, and the durability of the gasket may be reduced.
An object of the present invention is to form a conductive path for sensing a voltage generated by an electrochemical reaction without causing problems such as an increase in the number of parts, fluid leakage, and a decrease in gasket durability. It is to provide a fuel cell.
In order to achieve the above-mentioned object, the present invention provides a fuel cell in which a membrane / electrode assembly and a membrane / electrode assembly are disposed opposite to each other, and the membrane / electrode assembly side reaction surface is provided with the membrane / electrode assembly. A first flow path through which a fluid to be supplied to the electrode assembly (fluid contributing to an electrochemical reaction for power generation) flows is formed, and a cooling fluid flows on a cooling surface opposite to the reaction surface. And a separator formed between the separator and the membrane / electrode assembly, the separator having the second flow path formed therein, a facing member disposed to face the cooling surface of the separator, and the first flow path A first gasket that surrounds the periphery of the second flow path, and a second gasket that is interposed between the separator and the opposing member and surrounds the periphery of the second flow path, wherein the separator includes the first flow path and the first flow path. The part where the two channels are formed is the conductive material Rannahli, part of the periphery of the part made of an insulating material, said second gasket is made of a conductive material, it is characterized in that it is connected to a portion made of a conductive material in the separator.
In this fuel cell, a separator is disposed to face the membrane / electrode assembly, and a facing member is disposed on the opposite side of the membrane / electrode assembly from the separator. A first flow path through which a fluid to be supplied to the membrane / electrode assembly flows is formed on the reaction surface of the separator on the membrane / electrode assembly side. A second flow path through which a cooling fluid flows is formed on the cooling surface of the separator opposite to the reaction surface, that is, the cooling surface on the facing member side. Between the separator and the membrane / electrode assembly, a first gasket surrounding the periphery of the first flow path is interposed. Further, a second gasket surrounding the periphery of the second flow path is interposed between the separator and the facing member.
In the separator, a part where the first flow path and the second flow path are formed is made of a conductive material, and a part around the part is made of an insulating material.
The second gasket is made of a conductive material and is connected to a portion of the separator made of the conductive material. Therefore, the second gasket can be used as a part of a conductive path for sensing a voltage generated by an electrochemical reaction. Thereby, there is no need to separately provide a conductive material or the like for forming the conductive path, so that it is possible to avoid problems of increase in the number of parts and fluid leakage due to the provision of the conductive material. As a result, it is possible to avoid an increase in time and cost required for manufacturing a fuel cell due to an increase in the number of parts. In addition, since the fluid flowing in the second flow path is a cooling fluid and not a fuel, there is a problem in that the durability of the second gasket is reduced by touching the fuel even if the second gasket is formed of a conductive material. Does not occur.
Therefore, it is possible to form a conductive path for sensing a voltage generated by an electrochemical reaction without causing problems such as an increase in the number of parts, fluid leakage, and a decrease in gasket durability.
The second gasket is installed between a main body that surrounds the periphery of the second flow path, and a portion of the main body and the second flow path that is close to the fluid discharge port from the first flow path. It is preferable to have the connecting portion integrally.
When the flow rate of the fluid in the first flow path decreases, the generated voltage decreases in a portion closer to the fluid discharge port from the first flow path in the membrane / electrode assembly. In the configuration in which the connecting portion of the second gasket is connected to a portion of the second flow path that is close to the fluid discharge port from the first flow path, low occurrence at a portion of the membrane / electrode assembly close to the discharge port. Voltage can be sensed. As a result, by controlling the fuel supply flow rate and the like based on the sensed voltage, a voltage above a certain level can be stably generated.
According to the present invention, in the separator, the part where the first flow path and the second flow path are formed is made of a conductive material, and the part around the part is made of an insulating material. And the 2nd gasket surrounding the circumference | surroundings of the 2nd flow path through which the fluid for cooling distribute | circulates consists of a conductive material, and is connected to the part which consists of a conductive material in a separator, The sensing of the voltage produced by an electrochemical reaction, etc. Can be used as part of a conductive path for Therefore, a conductive path for sensing voltage generated by an electrochemical reaction is formed without causing problems such as an increase in the number of parts and time and cost required for manufacturing, fluid leakage, and deterioration in gasket durability. be able to.

In the above-described embodiment, the entire cooling
Further, the cooling
