Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a liquid ejection apparatus that ejects liquid from an ejection port and a liquid ejection method for the liquid ejection apparatus.
In an ink jet head that ejects ink droplets from a plurality of ejection openings, by using a pump to forcibly supply ink to the ink flow path in the ink jet head, bubbles or A technique for discharging the thickened ink and cleaning the discharge port is known (see, for example, Patent Document 1). In
In order to reliably discharge ink from all the ejection ports and clean the ejection ports, it is necessary to increase the ink pressure applied to the ink flow path. However, if it takes time for the ink pressure in the ink flow path to reach the desired pressure after the pump is started, the ink is discharged in order from the discharge port having the lowest ink discharge resistance (flow path resistance). Ink cannot be instantaneously discharged from the discharge port. For this reason, ink is wasted from the ejection ports when cleaning the ejection ports.
An object of the present invention is to provide a liquid ejecting apparatus and a liquid ejecting method of the liquid ejecting apparatus capable of suppressing wasteful consumption of liquid while efficiently ejecting bubbles and foreign substances together with liquid from all ejection ports. There is to do.

From another viewpoint, the liquid ejection apparatus according to the present invention ejects liquid, an inflow port through which liquid flows in, an outflow port through which liquid flows out, an internal flow path that connects the inflow port and the outflow port, and the like. A liquid discharge head having a plurality of discharge ports for discharging and a plurality of individual liquid flow channels branched from the internal flow channel to reach the plurality of discharge ports; and a liquid supplied to the liquid discharge head is stored therein A tank that communicates with or shuts off the atmosphere inside the tank and the atmosphere, a supply passage that communicates between the inside of the tank and the inlet, and an interior of the tank that communicates with the outlet. A return channel, a supply means for forcibly supplying the liquid stored in the tank to the internal channel via the supply channel, and a predetermined range from the outlet of the internal channel. The predetermined range from the outlet of the internal flow path And a flow path resistance value and a predetermined minimum value and adjustable adjustment means between a predetermined maximum value, the atmosphere communicating means, and control means for controlling said supply means and said adjusting means in. The control means drives the supply means while making the flow path resistance value smaller than the predetermined maximum value by adjusting the adjustment means, thereby supplying the liquid in the tank to the supply flow path, the internal flow path, and Circulate so as to be transferred in the order of the return flow path, and during the circulation, by increasing the flow path resistance value by adjustment of the adjustment means, to control the discharge of the liquid from the plurality of discharge ports, The control means provides a period during which the inside of the tank is shut off from the atmosphere by controlling the atmosphere communication means during the circulation.
The liquid discharge method of the liquid discharge apparatus of the present invention includes an inflow port through which liquid flows in, an outflow port through which liquid flows out, an internal flow path that connects the inflow port and the outflow port, and a plurality of discharges for discharging liquid. A liquid discharge head having an outlet and a plurality of individual liquid flow paths branched from the internal flow path to reach the plurality of discharge openings; a tank for storing liquid supplied to the liquid discharge head; Atmospheric communication means for communicating or blocking the interior of the tank and the atmosphere; a supply flow path for communicating the interior of the tank and the inlet; a return flow path for communicating the interior of the tank and the outlet; Supply means for forcibly supplying the liquid stored in the tank to the internal flow path via the supply flow path; and a flow resistance value in the return flow path with a predetermined minimum value and a predetermined maximum value Adjusting means adjustable between A liquid discharge method for a body discharge apparatus, wherein the supply means is driven while the flow path resistance value is made smaller than the predetermined maximum value by adjusting the adjustment means, whereby the liquid in the tank is supplied to the supply flow path. A step of circulating the inner flow path and the return flow path in order, and then increasing the flow path resistance value by adjusting the adjusting means, thereby discharging the liquid from the plurality of discharge ports. And a step of providing a period for shutting off the inside of the tank from the atmosphere by controlling the atmosphere communication means during the circulation step.
According to the present invention, the internal pressure of the internal flow path is increased by performing circulation, and in this state, the internal pressure of the internal flow path is instantaneously increased by increasing the flow resistance value by adjusting the adjusting means. As a result, the liquid in the internal flow path flows into the individual liquid flow path, and the liquid is discharged from the discharge port. At this time, a high pressure is applied to all the discharge ports from the start of discharge, and the liquid is discharged. Therefore, it is possible to efficiently discharge the thickened liquid, bubbles, and foreign matters in the discharge port, and it is possible to suppress the wasteful discharge of the liquid. Further, since the tank and the atmosphere are shut off during the circulation, the inside of the tank becomes negative pressure, so that the liquid in the internal flow path is sucked into the tank through the return flow path, and the ink in the internal flow path becomes the individual liquid. It becomes difficult to flow into the flow path. Thereby, it becomes difficult for the liquid to leak from the discharge port during circulation, and the liquid can be further prevented from being discharged wastefully. The flow path resistance value in the return flow path at the time of circulation is desirably adjusted between a value less than a level at which liquid leaks from the discharge port and a minimum value.
In the present invention, during the circulation, when the control means communicates the inside of the tank and the atmosphere by the atmosphere communicating means, the flow rate of the supplied liquid per unit time is the first predetermined amount. The supply means is controlled as described below, and when the atmosphere communication means shuts off the inside of the tank and the atmosphere, the flow rate per unit time exceeds the first predetermined amount and the second The supply means is controlled to be less than or equal to a predetermined amount, and the first predetermined amount is such that when the tank and the atmosphere are communicated by the atmospheric communication means, liquid leaks from the discharge port due to the circulation. The second predetermined amount is a maximum flow rate at which liquid does not leak from the discharge port due to the circulation when the tank and the atmosphere are blocked by the atmospheric communication means. thing Preferred. According to this, when the inside of the tank is shut off from the atmosphere, the flow rate per unit time in the circulation is increased so that the liquid does not leak from the discharge port. The pressure can be further increased instantaneously, and the liquid can be reliably discharged from the plurality of discharge ports while preventing the liquid from being discharged unnecessarily.
In the present invention, it is preferable that the control means controls the atmosphere communication means so that the inside of the tank and the atmosphere are shut off during all of the circulation. According to this, since the negative pressure is generated in the tank as the circulation starts, it is possible to suppress the liquid from leaking from the discharge port in all the periods during the circulation.
At this time, the control means controls the atmosphere communication means so that the inside of the tank communicates with the atmosphere when the flow path resistance value is increased in order to discharge the liquid from the plurality of discharge ports. It is more preferable to control. According to this, when the liquid is discharged from the discharge port, the inside of the tank is forcibly set to the atmospheric pressure, so that it is possible to suppress the pressure in the tank from being lowered as the liquid is discharged. Alternatively, the control means controls the atmosphere communication means so that the inside of the tank and the atmosphere are blocked during the circulation, and then discharges the liquid from the plurality of discharge ports. It is preferable to control the adjustment means and the atmosphere communication means so that the inside of the tank and the atmosphere communicate with each other when the resistance value is increased. According to this, when the liquid is discharged from the discharge port, the inside of the tank is forcibly set to the atmospheric pressure, so that the pressure in the tank can be suppressed from decreasing as the liquid is discharged. Thereby, it is possible to prevent the liquid discharge from the discharge port from becoming unstable or stopping without hindering the liquid supply of the supply means.
In the present invention, the control means may stop the discharge of the liquid from the plurality of discharge ports by decreasing the flow path resistance value during discharge of the liquid from the plurality of discharge ports. preferable. Thereby, it is possible to quickly stop the discharge of the liquid from the discharge port.
Alternatively, in the present invention, the control unit controls the adjustment unit to stop the discharge of the liquid from the plurality of discharge ports by decreasing the flow path resistance value, and It is preferable to control the atmosphere communication means so that the inside and the atmosphere are blocked. According to this, when the discharge of the liquid from the discharge port is stopped, the tank and the atmosphere are shut off, so that the atmospheric pressure in the tank is lowered and the liquid from the discharge port can be prevented from leaking.
At this time, the control means stops the discharge of the liquid from the plurality of discharge ports, and immediately before or simultaneously stops the supply of the liquid by the supply means. Is preferably communicated. According to this, since the tank does not become negative pressure after the discharge of the liquid from the discharge port stops, it is possible to prevent the liquid and impurities from being sucked from the discharge port.
In the present invention, the predetermined maximum value is a value that prohibits the passage of liquid in the return flow path, and the control means stops the supply of the liquid by the supply means, and then adjusts the adjustment means by the adjustment means. It is preferable to set the flow path resistance value to the predetermined maximum value. According to this, it is possible to prevent the liquid discharged from the discharge port from being sucked into the discharge port due to a water head difference between the liquid discharge head and the tank.
According to the present invention, there is further provided a discharge surface on which the plurality of discharge ports are formed, and wiping means for wiping the discharge surface when discharging of the liquid from the plurality of discharge ports is stopped. Furthermore, it is preferable to provide. According to this, it is possible to remove ink and foreign matter adhering to the ejection surface, and to adjust the meniscus of the ejection port.
Furthermore, in the present invention, it is preferable that at least a part of the inner wall surface of the internal flow path and the supply flow path is formed of a flexible member. According to this, the deformation of the flexible member suppresses fluctuations in the internal pressure of the internal flow path and the supply flow path, so that it is difficult for the liquid to leak from the discharge port. Further, when the flexible member is deformed during circulation, the volume in the flow path increases, so that the pressure in the tank becomes lower and the liquid is less likely to leak from the discharge port.
In addition, the present invention further includes negative pressure generating means for generating an atmospheric pressure lower than atmospheric pressure, and negative pressure communication means for connecting or blocking the tank and the negative pressure generating means, and the control Preferably, the means causes the tank and the negative pressure generating means to communicate with each other by the negative pressure communication means when the atmospheric communication means blocks the tank and the atmosphere. According to this, during the circulation, the tank and the atmosphere are shut off and the tank and the negative pressure generating means communicate with each other, so that the inside of the tank is surely negative pressure, and the liquid in the internal flow path further flows into the tank As a result, the ink in the internal channel is more difficult to flow into the individual liquid channel. Thereby, the liquid is more difficult to leak from the discharge port, and the liquid flow rate in the circulation can be further increased to further increase the internal pressure of the internal flow path.

The
The
The

Further, the
As shown in FIGS. 3 to 5, the head
The
The ink flow in the
The
The
One end of the

EEPROM(Electrically Erasable and Programmable Read Only Memory)と、プログラム実行時にデータを一時的に記憶するRAM(Random Access Memory)とを含んでいる。

The
The

The circulation /
The
The maintenance operation will be described with reference to FIGS. The maintenance operation is an operation for performing maintenance of the
As shown in FIGS. 9 and 10, when the maintenance operation is started, the circulation /
As a result, the ink in the
In the circulation operation, in order to efficiently move bubbles and foreign matter to the
In addition, since the ink pressure in the
Further, during the period when the
In the state where the ink flow rate per unit time in the
As described above, the purge operation is started (impact purge) by closing the
When a predetermined purge amount of ink is discharged from the
Thereafter, the circulation /
As described above, by performing the ink circulation and the purge operation in order, the bubbles and foreign matters staying in the
Next, when the wiping operation is started, the
As described above, according to the
Also, the ink flow rate per unit time during ink circulation exceeds the maximum flow rate at which ink does not leak from the
Further, since the
In addition, when the purge operation is started during the circulation of the ink, the
Further, during the purge period, the discharge of ink from the
Further, after stopping the discharge of ink from the
In addition, in order to close the
In addition, by performing a wiping operation after the purge operation, ink and foreign matters adhering to the

A first modification according to this embodiment will be described. In the above-described embodiment, when the ink circulation is started, the

A second modification example according to this embodiment will be described. In the above-described embodiment, the

<Third Modification>
A third modification example according to this embodiment will be described. In the embodiment described above, the
<Fourth Modification>
A fourth modification example according to this embodiment will be described. In the embodiment described above, the
<Second Embodiment>
A second embodiment according to the present invention will be described. About the same member and function part as 1st Embodiment, the same code | symbol is attached | subjected and description is abbreviate | omitted. As shown in FIG. 16, the ink supply unit 210 includes a
According to the present embodiment, the inside of the
The preferred embodiments and modifications of the present invention have been described above, but the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments and modifications, and various modifications are possible as long as they are described in the claims. It is. In the above-described embodiment, the
Further, in the above-described embodiment, the
In the above-described embodiment, the
Further, in the above-described embodiment, the purge operation is stopped by opening the
In the above-described embodiment, the wipe operation is performed in the maintenance operation. However, the wipe operation may be omitted.
In addition, in the above-described embodiment, the
Furthermore, in the above-described embodiment, the ink flow rate per unit time of the
In addition, in the above-described embodiment, the
In the above-described embodiment, the
In the above-described embodiment, the
The present invention is also applicable to a recording apparatus that ejects liquid other than ink. Further, the present invention is not limited to a printer, and can be applied to a facsimile, a copier, and the like.
