The present invention relates to a technique of an X-ray generator and a static eliminator using the X-ray generator.
There is known an X-ray generator that emits electrons from an electron emitting portion and irradiates a target made of a metal film to generate X-rays. Examples of the X-ray generator include a thermionic emission type using a filament for an electron emission part (see, for example,
As an X-ray generator that emits electrons from an electron-emitting portion and irradiates a target made of a metal film to generate X-rays, a thermionic emission X-ray generator and a field emission X-ray generator are known. It has been. Here, for example, the lifetime of a thermionic emission X-ray generator is 8000 hours, whereas the lifetime of a field emission X-ray generator is said to be about 1/10 or less. The thermionic emission X-ray generator has a longer life than the field emission X-ray generator. However, the thermionic emission X-ray generator requires heating to emit thermoelectrons, and requires more energy than the field emission X-ray generator. Further, the thermionic emission type X-ray generator requires a cooling device for preventing adverse effects caused by heat when X-rays are generated.
On the other hand, field emission type X-ray generators do not require heating to emit electrons and generate little heat when generating X-rays. Is desired. However, in the conventional field emission type X-ray generator, there is a concern that the electron emission portion is rapidly deteriorated with the passage of time. Deterioration of the electron emitting portion is particularly noticeable when a high voltage such as several kV to several tens kV is applied to the X-ray tube. The causes of deterioration include changes in the surface properties at the atomic level of the electron emission part (for example, changes in the surface shape) due to the influence of gas ions and heat remaining in the vacuum tube of the X-ray tube, and sputtering from the target. The adhering substance adheres to the surface of the electron emission part. As described above, the conventional field emission type X-ray generator has a shorter lifetime than that of the thermionic emission type X-ray generator. Therefore, it is desired to develop a technique capable of extending the lifetime.
In view of the above problems, an object of the present invention is to provide a technique capable of improving the lifetime of a field emission type X-ray generator as compared with the related art.
In order to solve the above-described problems, the present invention controls the power supply to change the voltage of the X-ray tube based on the detected current so as to suppress a decrease in the electron emission capability of the electron emission unit. It was.
Specifically, the present invention includes an electron emission portion as a cold cathode that emits electrons, a target as a counter electrode that generates X-rays when irradiated with electrons emitted from the electron emission portion, and the target. An X-ray generation apparatus comprising an X-ray tube connected and including a transmission window for emitting X-rays generated at the target to the outside, a power supply unit for applying a predetermined voltage to the X-ray tube; Based on the current value detected by the current detection unit so as to suppress a decrease in the electron emission capability of the electron emission unit and a current detection unit that detects a current value of the current flowing through the X-ray tube, A control unit that controls the power supply unit.
The X-ray generator according to the present invention is a so-called field emission X-ray generator provided with an electron emission portion as a cold cathode. Therefore, the X-ray generator according to the present invention does not require heating for emitting electrons, and generates less heat when generating X-rays, so that energy efficiency is high. In addition, the control unit controls the power source based on the current detected by the current detection unit to change the voltage of the X-ray tube, thereby suppressing a decrease in the electron emission capability of the electron emission unit. That is, since the deterioration of the electron emission portion is suppressed, the lifetime can be improved as compared with the conventional electron emission type X-ray generator.
Here, in the present invention, a cold cathode is distinguished from a hot cathode that requires heating of a filament or the like used in a thermionic emission type X-ray generator. That is, the electron emission part as the cold cathode of the present invention emits electrons without heating by applying a predetermined voltage. The predetermined voltage can be set as appropriate according to the use of the X-ray generator, and is set as a value that can activate the electron-emitting portion in the present invention. The predetermined voltage applied to the X-ray tube, in other words, the voltage of the X-ray tube is a potential difference between the electron emission portion and the target, and is preferably a negative voltage. The current flowing through the X-ray tube is a current flowing through the X-ray tube by irradiating the target with electrons emitted from the electron emission unit. In addition, the electron emission ability means, in other words, the ability to emit electrons under a predetermined voltage. In a conventional field emission type X-ray generator, the electron emission ability decreases with time. There was concern. Note that the decrease in the electron emission capability means a decrease in the dose of X-rays emitted from the X-ray generator.
In other words, the processing by the control unit of the present invention is to increase or decrease the voltage applied to the X-ray tube by controlling the power supply unit so as to suppress a decrease in the electron emission capability. In other words, boosting the voltage means increasing the voltage to the negative voltage side. And this pressure increase or pressure reduction is performed based on the current value of the current flowing through the X-ray tube. Based on the current value of the current flowing through the X-ray tube, the voltage applied to the X-ray tube is boosted or reduced in pressure when the current value falls below a predetermined value, or the current is constant. A mode in which the voltage is boosted or depressurized so as to be held at the value of is exemplified.
Therefore, in the X-ray generator according to the present invention, when the current value detected by the detection unit falls below a lower limit current value, the control unit boosts the voltage applied to the X-ray tube (on the negative voltage side). It may be made larger). By increasing the voltage applied to the X-ray tube, changes in the surface properties at the atomic level of the electron emission part (for example, changes in the surface shape) due to the influence of ions and heat of the gas remaining in the X-ray tube are improved. In addition, the substance sputtered from the target and attached to the surface of the electron emission portion is released. Regarding the change of the surface shape, since the electron emission portion is sealed in the vacuum vessel, it is basically difficult to confirm from the outside, but the present inventors consider as follows. That is, when the needle-shaped tip is consumed, the sharp shape is changed to a rounded shape, and the tip is sharpened again by pressure increase. Furthermore, it is considered that the high temperature inside the container by pressurization promotes the detachment of impurities. In other words, the electron emission part deteriorated with the passage of time is activated, and the electron emission ability of the electron emission part is restored. That is, the value of the current flowing through the X-ray tube can be increased again.
The lower limit current value is the tendency of the electron emission ability to decrease with the passage of time, in other words, the tendency of the X-ray dose to be emitted from the X-ray generator that decreases with the passage of time, and the X-rays at the time of reduction. It can be preset based on the current value of the current flowing through the tube. For example, the lower limit current value can be set as a current value at the time when at least a predetermined X-ray dose can be irradiated. When boosting the voltage applied to the X-ray tube, it is preferable to boost the voltage to a predetermined voltage value set in advance as a voltage value that can activate the electron emission portion. In addition, since excessive boosting may cause an excessive current increase and lead to failure of the X-ray generator, the control unit has exceeded the predetermined current value detected by the detection unit. In this case, the boosting may be released. In other words, when the current value detected by the detection unit exceeds the current value of the current flowing through the X-ray tube at the start of the operation of the X-ray generator, the control unit may return the current value to a normal voltage value. Good. The predetermined current value may be a value higher than the current at the start of the operation of the X-ray generator, and may be an upper limit current value that does not cause trouble such as failure in the X-ray generator.
Further, in the X-ray generator according to the present invention, the control unit repeatedly boosts the voltage applied to the X-ray tube so that the current detected by the detection unit has a constant current value. Accordingly, when the current value detected by the detection unit reaches the upper limit current value, the voltage applied to the X-ray tube may be reduced. The constant current value can be a current flowing through the X-ray tube at the start of operation of the X-ray generator. Thereby, the electron emission part which deteriorates with the passage of time can always be activated, and the emission capability of the electron emission part can be maintained at the capability at the start of the operation of the X-ray generator. That is, the life of the X-ray generator can be improved by always suppressing the deterioration of the electron emission portion. Note that the upper limit current value can be set to a value that does not cause trouble such as a failure in the X-ray generator as a value higher than the current at the start of operation of the X-ray generator.
Here, in the X-ray generator according to the present invention, the current detection unit detects a current value before and after the X-ray tube as a current value of the current flowing through the X-ray tube, and the control unit The presence or absence of leakage current may be determined based on the difference between the current values before and after the X-ray tube. Of the front and rear of the X-ray tube, the front of the X-ray tube is the upstream side of the X-ray tube, in other words, the vicinity of the X-ray tube between the power supply unit and the X-ray tube. The term “after the X-ray tube” refers to the downstream side of the X-ray tube, in other words, the vicinity of the X-ray tube between the X-ray tube and the ground. The leakage current is a current that flows outside the X-ray tube. By determining the presence or absence of leakage current, the accuracy of control by the control unit can be further increased. The decrease in current when leakage current is observed is different from the decrease in current over time. And when leakage current is recognized, sufficient activation of the electron emission part cannot be realized even if the voltage is increased by controlling the power supply part. Therefore, when the occurrence of leakage current is recognized, this is informed so that the accuracy of control by the control unit is further improved by performing processing that is different from the case where the occurrence of leakage current is not recognized. As a result, the electron emission portion can be more reliably activated.
When the control unit determines whether or not there is a leakage current, it is preferable to further provide an output unit that outputs the presence or absence of the leakage current to the outside. Thereby, it is possible to notify the presence or absence of leakage current. Although the accuracy of control by the control unit can be further improved by detecting the current before and after the X-ray tube, the current detection unit detects either the current before or after the X-ray tube. It may be a thing.
Here, in the X-ray generator according to the present invention, the power supply unit applies a negative voltage of −9 kV to −16 kV to the X-ray tube, and 0.15 mA to 1 is applied to the X-ray tube. A current of 0.0 mA may flow. The range of the predetermined voltage applied to the X-ray tube is not particularly limited. However, since the deterioration of the electron emission portion becomes more conspicuous when a high voltage is applied, the present invention can be more suitably used as an X-ray generator using the above-described high-voltage power supply.
The X-ray generation apparatus according to the present invention described above can be used in various fields that require an X-ray generation apparatus, such as an X-ray photography apparatus that takes an X-ray photograph and a fluorescent X-ray analysis apparatus that analyzes a sample. The X-ray generator according to the present invention does not generate heat, has high energy efficiency, and has a sufficient life even when a high-voltage power supply is applied, so that it is a manufacturing factory for semiconductor integrated circuits, liquid crystal panels, etc. It is particularly suitable for a static eliminator as a countermeasure against static electricity.
ADVANTAGE OF THE INVENTION According to this invention, in the field emission type | mold X-ray generator, the technique which can improve a lifetime compared with the past can be provided.

電流モニタ回路3A、3B(以下、両者を纏めて単に電源モニタ回路3とも称する。)

In step S06, the voltage

(Leakage current judgment processing)
Next, the leakage current determination process will be described. By executing this leakage current determination process together with the above-described boost control process or constant current control process, a process with higher accuracy can be realized. The leakage current is a current that flows outside the

In step S23, the notification unit notifies the outside that a leakage current has occurred. Examples of the notification mode include visual notification such as lighting a lamp and notification through hearing such as sounding.
By executing the leakage current determination process described above, the above-described step-up control process or constant current control process is performed only when the occurrence of a leakage current is not recognized, so that a more accurate process can be realized. Further, when the occurrence of leakage current is recognized, the fact is notified, so that it is possible to deal with repairs or the like.
<実施例>

(Second embodiment)
In the second embodiment, constant current control processing was performed in the
