In Patent Document 4, an application electrode and a ground electrode are respectively arranged outside an insulator container, a predetermined gas is supplied into the container, and the voltage is applied to generate atmospheric pressure plasma in the container. The surface treatment method is characterized in that the surface of the object to be treated in the container is treated with atmospheric pressure plasma while rolling or floating in the container.
However, the method described in Patent Document 4 has a comparatively large size similar to that of a 40 mm diameter polypropylene resin sphere or golf ball described in the Examples, which can be handled by hand. Is targeted. However, plasma processing of a material having a small representative diameter such as powder containing particles is not described in the embodiments.
Actually, the processing object such as a sphere described in FIG. 1, FIG. 10, FIG. 13, FIG. 14, FIG. 38, and FIG. 39 of Patent Document 4 is large and moves in the plasma container while rolling. You can observe the situation. Further, as described in FIG. 12 and FIG. 40 of Patent Document 4, it is possible to observe a state in which the object is moved by floating the object to be processed.
In addition, as described in
It is generally difficult to perform a hydrophilic treatment on a powder having water repellency such as polyolefin and having a light specific gravity. As a method for hydrophilizing the polyolefin powder, plasma hydrophilization can be considered.
Further,
Moreover, considering the practical industrial utility value of the hydrophilized powder, it is not beneficial if only a part of the powder to be treated is hydrophilized. Almost all of the polyolefin powder subjected to the hydrophilization treatment needs to be hydrophilized.

Hereinafter, the manufacturing method (plasma processing method) of the polyolefin powder of the present invention will be described, and then the plasma processing apparatus used in the present invention will be described.
<Plasma treatment method>
The plasma treatment method of the present invention is performed by irradiating plasma to a polyolefin powder to be treated having a representative diameter (average particle diameter) of 1 μm or more and 100 μm or less. Thereby, it is possible to obtain a polyolefin powder having water dispersibility and having an absolute value of zeta potential of 10 mV or more in the range of pH 2 to
In the plasma processing method of the present invention, a powder object to be processed made of a polyolefin material is sealed in a container made of a dielectric material such as glass and provided with a stirring mechanism. Treatment with excited active species of plasma-forming gas generated by discharge under atmospheric pressure.
As the plasma forming gas, it is desirable that a rare gas such as helium or argon is contained by 90% by volume or more. This is because it is necessary to contain 90% by volume or more of a rare gas in order to form plasma in a sealed container made of a dielectric. The plasma forming gas may contain nitrogen gas in addition to the rare gas contained in the plasma forming gas in an amount of 90% by volume or more. Even if oxygen or the like is mixed as a gas other than a rare gas or nitrogen, plasma can be formed. However, when oxygen gas having a concentration exceeding 10% by volume is mixed, it is necessary to apply a higher voltage in order to form plasma. This is because the stability of the plasma is impaired, the filament-like discharge starts flashing, and thus an unstable plasma form is obtained, and a plasma that satisfies the condition for the surface treatment of the powder cannot be obtained.
As the plasma forming gas, helium gas that is inert near atmospheric pressure is most preferable, but a rare gas such as argon gas that is also inert near atmospheric pressure can be used, and it can also be used by mixing with nitrogen gas. it can. The plasma forming gas can be circulated after the oxygen gas concentration in the dielectric container is made sufficiently low. In addition to these rare gases such as helium and argon, nitrogen and the like, other reactive gases can be mixed. As a gas to be mixed, oxygen can be used as described above, but any gas that decomposes in a discharge field and easily releases oxygen, such as dinitrogen monoxide (N 2 O) and carbon dioxide (CO 2 ). Anything can be used.
A high frequency power source is required for plasma formation. In order to form plasma, it is necessary to periodically apply a high voltage. A frequency of 50 Hz or more and 100 MHz or less can be applied. Further, it can be used in combination with a DC pulse power supply in series.
Due to the rare gas molecules and the like in the excited active state, the powder object is formed with dangling bonds by cleavage of C—C bonds or cleavage of C—H bonds on the surface thereof. The dangling bonds are taken out after the plasma treatment and then contacted with air to react with oxygen molecules and water molecules in the air to form peroxide radicals, and oxidation proceeds.
In addition, the distribution of helium gas reduces the oxygen concentration inside the dielectric container, but since these are performed at atmospheric pressure, the residual air gas taken into the powder group is completely removed. It is also assumed that they cannot be removed. In this case, oxygen and nitrogen in the residual air are also excited and activated by helium gas, and the powder may be subjected to a surface treatment.
In this way, the surface of the powder can be modified by forming a plasma at substantially atmospheric pressure and stirring the powder in a state where a rare gas typified by helium gas is circulated. . In addition, from the viewpoint of removing residual air gas, the pressure in the sealed container can be set to 1 Pa or more and 102 × 10 3 Pa or less.

After stirring for 1 hour, the solid part was collected by filtration, thoroughly washed with toluene, and purified decane was added to form a 200 ml decane slurry of the solid catalyst component (B1-1-A2-172I).

Purified heptane (500 ml) was charged into an SUS autoclave with an internal volume of 1 liter sufficiently purged with nitrogen, and 100 liter / hr of ethylene was circulated at room temperature for 15 minutes to saturate the liquid phase and the gas phase. Subsequently, after the temperature was raised to 63 ° C., 1.25 ml of a decane solution of triethylaluminum (1 mmol / ml of A1 atom) and solid catalyst component (B1-1-A2-172I were allowed to flow through at 12 liters / hr of ethylene. ) Was added with 5.33 ml (0.00008 mmol in terms of Zr atom) and stirred for 5 minutes while maintaining the temperature. Immediately after adding 40 mg of Emulgen E-108 (manufactured by Kao Corporation), the ethylene pressure was increased. Started. The ethylene pressure was increased to 0.8 MPa · G over 10 minutes, and polymerization was carried out at 65 ° C. for 2 hours while supplying ethylene so as to maintain the pressure. Thereafter, the autoclave was cooled to depressurize ethylene. The obtained polymer slurry was filtered, washed with hexane, and dried under reduced pressure at 80 ° C. for 10 hours to obtain 51.9 g of particles. The median diameter of the produced particles was (d 50 ) of 9.4 μm, and the Cv value was 13.5%. The standard deviation, d 50, was calculated by measuring the particle diameter by dispersing the powder by sonication with methanol for 5 minutes using a laser diffraction particle size distribution analyzer.

Can be obtained as According to a simple calculation, after 16 minutes, the concentration decreases to 1 / 100,000 of the initial concentration. In fact, when 1 L of helium gas was allowed to flow through a glass container made of 1 L of dielectric material per minute, it was found that the initial concentration decreased to 1 / 10,000 of the initial concentration in just over 30 minutes.

Further, it is desirable to cool the inside of the metal tube by flowing a liquid with low electrical conductivity such as ion exchange water or polyethylene glycol.

Moreover, in order to stir more efficiently, it is preferable to devise the shape of the wing.
In order to actually perform the plasma treatment, it is preferable to tilt the glass flask obliquely as shown in FIG. The reason for this is that when powder is placed on a flat surface as shown in FIG. 1, the powder is applied in a horizontal direction by the stirring

The oxygen concentration in the glass flask was confirmed by flowing helium gas. FIG. 2 shows the measurement of the oxygen concentration at the outlet of the helium
When performing the plasma treatment, the glass flask was tilted as shown in FIG. The reason for this is that when powder is placed on a flat surface as shown in FIG. 1, the powder is applied in a horizontal direction by the stirring
Specifically, in the plasma processing using the plasma processing apparatus, the

The particle size distribution of the polyethylene powder before and after the plasma treatment is shown in FIG. The particle size distribution is almost the same before and after the plasma treatment, and it can be seen that no increase or decrease in volume is observed by the plasma treatment.
The polyethylene powder thus obtained is placed in a Pyrex cell for light transmittance measurement in an amount of 0.01 g, diluted with distilled water 3.43 g, then subjected to vibration agitation with an ultrasonic cleaner and further shaken. The polyethylene powder was uniformly diffused in the Pyrex cell. Thereafter, the light transmittance at 550 nm was immediately measured with an ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer UV-3100PC. FIG. 5 shows a state in which the transparency of the cell is improved by floating the polyethylene powder dispersed in the cell by stirring. The improvement of the water dispersibility of the polyethylene powder is due to the improvement of the hydrophilicity with respect to water, and serves as an index of whether or not the effect of the hydrophilized surface treatment of the polyethylene powder is expressed. Based on the method of FIG. 5, the light transmittance as an index of the hydrophilic surface treatment of the polyethylene powder shown in Table 1 was measured. The results are shown in FIG.
The untreated polyethylene powder has greatly improved the light transmittance in about 5 minutes. This is because the polyethylene powder in water is floated by buoyancy due to lack of water dispersibility. On the other hand, those subjected to the plasma treatment remain in a state where the light transmittance is almost close to 0 for about 30 minutes. It turns out that the hydrophilization of powder advances and the water dispersibility is improving.

Table 3 shows a series of experimental conditions of polyethylene powder having an average particle size of 30 μm.
The polyethylene powder thus obtained is put in 0.04 g in a Pyrex cell for light transmittance measurement, diluted with 3.43 g of distilled water, and then subjected to ultrasonic cleaning in the same procedure as shown in Example 1. The mixture was vibrated and stirred in a vessel, and the polyethylene powder was uniformly diffused into the Pyrex cell by hand, and the light transmittance at 550 nm was immediately measured with an ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer UV-3100PC. FIG. 8 shows a time-dependent change in the light transmittance at 550 nm of the polyethylene powder dispersed in water in the cell by stirring. The untreated polyethylene powder has a light transmittance in about 5 minutes. Has greatly improved. This is because the polyethylene powder in water is floated by buoyancy due to lack of water dispersibility. On the other hand, those subjected to the plasma treatment remain in a state where the light transmittance is nearly zero for about 5 minutes. It turns out that the hydrophilization of powder advances and the water dispersibility is improving.

[Comparative Example 1]
Plasma treatment was performed in the same procedure as in Example 1 using the apparatus shown in FIG. The applied power was 0.1 kW, but the plasma treatment time was reduced to 3 minutes. This condition is shown in Table 5. In order to confirm the water dispersibility of the polyethylene powder thus obtained, evaluation was performed according to the procedure shown in Example 1. The results are shown in FIG. This is compared with the representative results of Example 1, Example 1-1 and untreated. From FIG. 9, it was confirmed that the water dispersibility is low when the applied power is low and the plasma is not sufficiently irradiated.
Further, the zeta potential of this polyethylene powder was measured but could not be measured due to insufficient dispersion.

The water dispersibility of the polyethylene powder thus obtained was evaluated by measuring the light transmittance in the same manner as shown in Example 1. Based on the method of FIG. 5, the light transmittance as an index of the hydrophilic surface treatment of the polyethylene powder shown in Table 1 was measured. The results are shown in FIG.
It can be seen that the water dispersibility is slightly improved compared to the untreated polyethylene powder. However, it was confirmed that satisfactory water dispersibility as shown in Example 1 and Example 3 was not obtained.
It was confirmed that the poor water dispersibility was caused by a problem in the stirring state of the powder. The powder was in a state where it swayed as an aggregate of powder in response to vibration in the screw tube, and was far from being stirred. It was confirmed that this poor stirring hinders the hydrophilicity of the powder.
In addition, in said Example and comparative example, although implemented when polyethylene powder 10g was supplied, the same result was obtained in any quantity of polyethylene powder 3g-10g.
