Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an imprint method and an imprint apparatus for transferring a concavo-convex pattern to a transfer layer.
As a technique for improving the recording density of a magnetic recording medium, a perpendicular magnetic recording system in which recording magnetization is arranged in the thickness direction of the medium is known. However, when the recording density is increased, magnetic field spread and thermal fluctuation from the side surface of the magnetic head become problems. Even if the magnetic head is made smaller, the magnetic field spread does not become smaller than a certain value. As a result, a write (side write) to an adjacent track may occur, and the already recorded data may be erased. Further, at the time of reproduction, in addition to the data track signal that should be read, a crosstalk phenomenon may occur in which an extra signal from an adjacent track is read. Further, as the recording density increases, the magnetic particles used for the recording layer of the magnetic recording medium are becoming smaller. The smaller the magnetic particles, the greater the influence of thermal fluctuation that reverses the magnetization energy recorded information bits even at room temperature, so the smaller the recording cell, the more noise and the recording becomes unstable. Problems such as magnetic field spreading and thermal fluctuation are problems that cannot be solved by the current recording / reproducing system.
In order to avoid these problems, in the field of magnetic recording, a patterned medium in which the recording material on the surface of the magnetic recording medium is previously separated by a non-recording material has been proposed. For example, a discrete track medium is a recording medium configured to physically and magnetically separate data tracks by forming grooves between data tracks made of a magnetic material and filling the grooves with a nonmagnetic material. This is to reduce the influence of side light and crosstalk. Bit patterned media is a recording medium configured to physically and magnetically separate adjacent recording cells by filling a nonmagnetic material between recording cells made of a magnetic material. The effect of noise is reduced. The patterned media technology is attracting attention as a breakthrough technology for achieving higher density of magnetic recording media.
The patterned media can be produced using, for example, nanoimprint lithography. Nanoimprint lithography is a process in which a mold having a nanometer scale concavo-convex structure is pressed against a transfer layer on a substrate, and the concavo-convex pattern of the mold is transferred to the transfer layer to form a fine concavo-convex pattern. Since the pattern transfer by nanoimprint is completed only by pressing the mold, there is an advantage that the time required for pattern transfer can be greatly shortened as compared with conventional lithography techniques such as photolithography and electron beam drawing.
However, the apparatus described in
On the other hand, the apparatus described in Patent Document 2 observes the outer peripheral edge of the disk substrate and the alignment mark from above the disk substrate with two cameras after the disk substrate is held on the stage. In order to observe the outer peripheral edge of the disc substrate from above with a camera, it is considered that the size of the stage is smaller than that of the disc substrate or that a transparent observation window needs to be formed on the stage. It is done. However, if the stage is made smaller than the disk substrate or an observation window made of a material different from other parts is formed on the stage, the pressure during pattern transfer becomes non-uniform and a good transfer pattern can be obtained. There is a risk of not being able to. In addition, the eccentricity is detected by observing the relative position between the alignment mark and the edge of the disk substrate by using two cameras. Accurate alignment is difficult. If a camera is added to solve this problem, the cost of the apparatus increases, and workability and maintainability deteriorate.
The present invention has been made in view of the above points, and an object thereof is to provide an imprint apparatus and an imprint method that can easily and accurately match the center point of a disk substrate and the center point of a mold.
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. In the drawings shown below, substantially the same or equivalent components and parts are denoted by the same reference numerals.
Example 1
FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view showing a configuration of an imprint apparatus according to the present invention. The
Further, the
The
The concavo-
The
The
Further, the
The
The
The
The
Next, an imprint method using the imprint apparatus having the above configuration will be described with reference to a flowchart shown in FIG. 3 and a manufacturing process diagram of each step shown in FIG.
First, a
Subsequently, the taper portion of the
Subsequently, the
Here, FIG. 5 shows the diameter of the cross section of the tapered portion at the tip of the
Next, after the support pins 30 are lowered and the
Next, the
The diameter D2 of the through
Thus, by supporting the
As shown in FIG. 5, the diameter of the through
Next, alignment of the
The cause of the positional deviation between the center of the concavo-convex pattern and the center of the
The alignment of the center of the concave / convex pattern recorded on the
First, the mold support pins 30 are moved in the vertical direction so that the distance between the
Next, the
6A is a top view showing a method for adjusting the relative position of the
Therefore, at the imaging point of the
The distance in the disk substrate radial direction from the outer peripheral edge of the
Since the distance between the
That is, the disk substrate is such that the distance in the disk substrate radial direction from the outer peripheral edge of the
The series of alignment operations described above can be automated by an alignment control means (not shown). That is, in the alignment process of the disk substrate and the mold (step S5 in FIG. 3), the alignment control means performs each process shown in the flowchart of FIG. 7 to form the center of the
When the alignment of the center of the concavo-convex pattern and the center of the
Further, it is preferable to leave a gap of 100 μm or more between the
For example, an electric heater or the like can be used as the heating mechanism, and the heating mechanism may be incorporated in the

Next, the
At this time, since the residual film of the
In this embodiment, the thermal imprint method has been described as an example. However, the adjustment of the eccentricity between the center of the concavo-convex pattern and the disk substrate can also be applied by the UV imprint method using an ultraviolet curable resin.
Next, it is determined whether or not there is a disk substrate to be additionally processed (step S9 in FIG. 3). If there is no disk substrate, the process ends. If additional processing is to be performed, the
Through the above steps, the
That is, when creating a mold for patterned media, a fine uneven pattern is drawn on a mold master using, for example, an electron beam drawing apparatus. At this time, it is difficult to completely match the center point of the mold master and the center point of the drawn uneven pattern, and as shown in FIG. May be formed in an eccentric state. Using such a
Even in such a case, the alignment mark (alignment mark) is formed so as to be concentric with the concave / convex pattern, so that the relative position between the edge of the disk substrate and the reference line is constant while the mold is rotated as described above. By adjusting the position of the mold in such a manner, the concave / convex pattern can be transferred without causing eccentricity with respect to the disk substrate.
Further, after aligning the center of the concavo-convex pattern with the center of the

Next, a discrete track media substrate (hereinafter referred to as a media substrate) 200 is manufactured. The

Through the above steps, a discrete track medium to which the imprint method according to the present invention is applied is completed.
As is apparent from the above description, according to the imprint apparatus and imprint method of the present invention, the relative position of the alignment mark formed on the outer peripheral edge of the disk substrate and the mold is observed while rotating the mold. Compared with the conventional two-point observation, it is possible to reliably detect the eccentricity (positional deviation) from the center of the uneven pattern formed on the mold with respect to the disk substrate. That is, the eccentricity (positional deviation) of the concave / convex pattern on the mold with respect to the disk substrate can be captured as a change in the relative position between the outer peripheral edge of the disk substrate and the reference line, and the mold is aligned so that this change is eliminated. Therefore, it becomes possible to perform highly accurate alignment. Further, since the positional deviation is observed while rotating the mold, it is possible to perform highly accurate positioning only by installing one imaging device.
(Example 2)
Next, a second embodiment of the imprint apparatus according to the present invention will be described. The imprint apparatus according to this embodiment is different from the first embodiment in the structure of the support pins. Hereinafter, the structure of the support pin according to the present embodiment will be described with reference to FIG.
In the
The imprint method by the imprint apparatus equipped with the support pins 31 having the above structure is the same as that in the first embodiment, but the method for aligning the disk substrate and the mold is different from that in the first embodiment. Hereinafter, a method for aligning the mold and the disk substrate by the imprint apparatus according to the present embodiment will be described with reference to FIG.
The
The alignment of the
While maintaining the rotation of the
As described above, according to the imprint apparatus and the imprint method according to the second embodiment, the alignment of the mold and the disk substrate can be performed with high accuracy as in the first embodiment. Further, in the imprint method according to the present embodiment, the disk substrate is rotated in conjunction with the mold so that the relative position in the rotation direction of the disk substrate and the mold is not changed by the rotation. Even when the formation position of the through hole is deviated from the center point of the disk substrate, by aligning the distance between the reference line and the outer peripheral edge of the disk substrate, the center point of the mold and the disk substrate The shift of the center point can be corrected.
In addition, since the support pin is provided with a support surface and a suction mechanism for supporting the disk substrate, the disk substrate is securely fixed to the support pin and does not fall off from the support pin even if it is rotationally driven. The rotation of the disk substrate can be stabilized.

(Modification 4)
FIGS. 15A to 15K show modified examples of the support pins equipped in the imprint apparatus according to the present invention. 15A to 15E are of a type provided with a support surface A for supporting the disk substrate when positioning the disk substrate and the mold. The support surface A may be provided with the suction mechanism shown in the second embodiment. 15 (f) to 15 (k) are of a type in which a support surface A for supporting the disk substrate and a support surface B for supporting the mold below the support surface A are provided. . The support surface B may also be provided with a suction mechanism for fixing the mold. As described above, by providing the support pins with the support surfaces for supporting the disk substrate and the mold, the mold and the disk substrate supported by the support pins are less likely to be tilted, and the stability is improved. Note that the support pin does not necessarily have a tapered portion as long as it has such a support surface.
(Modification 5)
In the second embodiment described above, a suction mechanism such as a vacuum suction mechanism is provided on the support pin and the disk substrate is fixed to the support pin. However, this can be performed by other methods. FIGS. 16A to 16C are diagrams showing another method for fixing the

Thus, according to the structure of the support pin of the present embodiment, it is possible to easily and accurately align the center of the support pin and the disk substrate. In addition, the number, arrangement | positioning, and shape of the
